IT’S A BOY: Nic Naitanui and Brittany Bown reveal they’re expecting a boy at lavish Crown Perth baby shower

AFL golden couple Nic Naitanui and Brittany Bown have revealed they are expecting a baby boy at a lavish baby shower in a Crystal Villa at Crown Perth on Saturday.

The Eagles ruckman and his psychotherapist partner of over two years revealed the news to their close friends and family at the intimate event.

The pair first shared the pregnancy news in an exclusive STM interview, where they opened up about their shared joy in embarking on the next chapter of their relationship together.

“We were both stoked and super surprised, we had expected a bit more of a journey (trying to fall pregnant),” she said.

“I think culture will play a big part (in raising our child),” Naitanui, 32, added.

“I guess growing up in Australia, a big thing that I haven’t let go of is my Fijian heritage and my background there. So for me, I think it’d be good to teach our child Fijian. I’d love my kids to be bilingual and speak both languages. And also just have a sense of understanding of where they come from, and what’s come before.”

STM wellness columnist Bown, 28, admitted that Naitanui’s relaxed outlook on life provides her with a sense of relief and confidence ahead of their journey as parents together.

“Nic is so fun, and I think he reminds me that sometimes that’s the best part of life,” she said

“I feel very comfortable going into parenthood knowing our child is always going to have someone to play with and make them laugh.

“He’s also not a panicker. He he’ll say ‘oh well, we’ll sleep later’, or ‘we’ll handle it’. I know as things come our way, if I’m stressed, he’s the type of person who will be OK, he will say it’s not a big deal and calm the whole situation down.

Father-to-be Naitanui mirrored Bown’s sentiment, saying his pilates instructor partner will be “perfect”.

“I think she’ll be perfect. Ella she’s pretty good around children and has a very caring nature. So I think she’ll fit perfectly in the role of being a mother,” he revealed.

The lovebirds’ anticipated due date comes at the pointy end of AFL season, although the Eagles star has a perspective on the bigger picture of life.

“(At the club) we always talk about the rollercoaster, you don’t get too carried away over the highs or too sad when there are lows,” he said.

During STM's photo shoot this week in a field in Perth's south, Naitanui, 32, says he is very much at ease around children.

“A lot of guys have different life experiences throughout their journey, whether it’s birth or death or things like that.

“Footy is a big part of your life, but it’s not the whole thing… it’s something that’s really important to me but at the same time, there’s a lot of things that happen away from the footy field that mean just as much. ”

Marriage is on the cards, but the couple is in “no rush”.

“We’ve got a lot of room for a baby in our lives right now … the other stuff will happen but we’re not going to rush into it.”

D-Link R15 AX1500 Smart Router Review: A solid entry-level option

D-Link’s new Eagle Pro AI series of routers is looking to shake things on both sides of the market, from entry-level routers-to premium mesh systems. The R15 AX1500 Eagle Pro AI stands as the entry-level option, but provides some nifty value through its compact design, Wi-Fi 6 functionality and various smart features including Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa voice control commands, that this side of the market have been missing as of late. It might not jump out at users in any particular way, but still serves as a worthy upgrade for those looking for Wi-Fi 6 connectivity, or as a basic upgrade for those rather bare-bones routers provided by most internet and telco providers.

Design

Much like its sibling, the G415 4G Smart Router, the R15 is rather compact an unassuming, sporting a flat white paint job and four side antennas. Unlike the G415, the R15 does sit flat on its back rather than standing upright, meaning it might take up a little more room in some spaces. That being said, the R15 is one of the smallest routers I’ve ever used, so I can’t imagine both the size and orientation being too much of an issue for most users.

The back of the router also sports three Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports, and a single Gigabit Ethernet port for even faster transfer speeds, the latter of which is now becoming a standard for all levels and tiers of internet routers. Beyond this, there’s admittedly not much going on with the router, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Its smaller size allows it to be tucked away, while the only thing I can truly point out regarding the overall appearance and design of such a router, is that the flat white colourway may stand out, particularly if your internet setup is located in a central position in the home.

Performance

In terms of performance, the R15 plays things relatively straight. With the ability to hit speeds of up to 1,201Mbps on 5GHz band and 300Mbps on the traditional 2.4GHz, most Australian users will find the router capable of transmitting the fastest speeds our internet companies and telco providers have to offer. Unlike most entry-level routers and routers provided by the aforementioned internet and telco companies, the the R15 can cover a whopping 230 square meters, making it a no-brainer for both smaller and larger households alike, without the need to purchase any external or additional extenders.

That being said, the R15 does play friendly with the Eagle Pro AI range, meaning such extenders and even additional routers can easily be paired to the R15 via the Eagle Pro AI app. Much like the G415 4G Smart Router, the Eagle Pro AI Engine also keeps users tuned to the most reliable band at any given time, be it the 2.4GHz or 5GHz band, allowing multiple uses to consistently access the most efficient and reliable method of connectivity .

Software

Thankfully, the Eagle Pro AI app is incredibly friendly and easy to use. As we’ve covered most of the apps functionality and features in our D-Link G415 AX1500 4G Smart Router Review, we have included the relevant excerpt below, outlining a nearly identical experience in relation to the R15:

“It’s incredibly easy to navigate, and is responsible for additional features, including the aforementioned AI Mesh Optimiser and the handy AI Parental Control. As the name suggests, AI Parental Control allows users to monitor and manage their children’s online activities. From here, you can create a profile for individual users to block and minimize access to the internet. Aside from the rampant virus exposure that may be a cause for concern for some parents, certain sites can even be curbed thanks to a web filter.”

“The Eagle Pro AI App also allows for voice control through multiple platforms including the Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. This might feel unnecessary for some, but is a welcome inclusion for those looking to turn their home into a smart, interconnected haven. The included AI Assistant can also whip up weekly reports for you incusing user activity and general internet traffic, with recommendations on how to solve the issues that may arise as a result. Overall, the app is incredibly easy to navigate and continuously informative at every step.”

Verdict & Value

Overall, the D-Link R15 AX1500 Smart Router is a reliable router for the entry-level price tag. Thanks to the Wi-Fi 6 compatibility, Eagle Pro AI app and compact design, it’s admittedly hard to pass this one up, should you be upgrading from a basic router provided by your internet provider, or imply looking to the future for Wi-Fi 6 support, which is arguably provided here at one of the cheapest price points in the market today. Impressive range will negate the need for extenders in most homes, while such a solution is incredibly easy to set up given the seamless functionality of the Eagle Pro AI app. If you’re looking for a solid all-rounder for an entry-level price tag, you might not need to look any further.

League of Legends player discovers fake Q animation for Space Groove Blitzcrank, calls it “pay-to-win abuse”

League of Legends might be having a bit of an issue with its competitive health as a player seems to have discovered a game-breaking exploit on one of Blitzcrank’s skins.

The cosmetic in question is the Space Groove skin. A Blitzcrank player has found an exploit where it has a fake Q animation, and opponents seem to be getting “juked” because of it.

Blitzcrank’s Q is one of the most powerful support abilities in the game, and grabbing the intended champion with it can easily turn the tides in his favor.

The ability also grants him a fair bit of lane presence and pressure. Hence, during the early stages of the game, players are quite weary of the grab and seek to avoid it at all costs.

However, as seen in a recent Reddit post, the Space Groove Blitzcrank seems to have a game-breaking exploit. The player is able to fake the animation with it, making the opponent juke the ability and waste resources like mana and Flash in the process.

Is Space Groove Blitzcrank a “pay-to-win” cosmetic in League of Legends?

youtube-cover

Over the years, the League of Legends community has found many cosmetic exploits that made this particular skin have a “pay-to-win” gimmick built into it, even though it was not something Riot Games intended.

One such notorious skin was another Blitzcrank cosmetic called iBlitz, whose Q grab animation was visually one of the hardest to deal with.

In the case of Space Groove, however, the player was able to fake the animation start-up itself by using the Ctrl-4 hotkey to perform the action. The animation showed him stretching his left hand, while the Q ability made him stretch his right.

To a player who is unaware, the fake would look like Blitzcrank is actually going to use the grab ability, making them juke it as soon as they see the animation begin.

youtube-cover

In the Reddit upload, one can clearly see how the Blitzcrank player was able to get a flash out of the enemy Ezreal by continuously faking the Q animation.

Many in the post have called out Riot Games, telling them that players’ ability to exploit the Space Groove skin like this hampers the competitive integrity of the game.

Animation fakes should not be allowed in a title like League of Legends, and it seems the exploit just makes the skin a “pay-to-win” cosmetic. Hopefully, Riot Games will be looking to add a fix to this issue in future updates.

Bogie shooting: Tragic twist as youngest victim of Queensland shooting revealed to be father to newborn son

The youngest victim of an alleged triple murder was the father of a newborn baby boy.

Graham Tighe, 35, was one of three people allegedly fatally shot at a property in the central Queensland town of Bogie on Thursday.

Watch more on this story in the video above

Watch the latest News on Channel 7 or stream for free on 7plus >>

As details of the circumstances surrounding the alleged shooting continue to emerge, The Courier-Mail reports Tighe leaves behind a three-week-old son.

It reports that he only got to spend a few days with the child before his death.

Tighe, his mother Maree Schwarz, 59, and her husband Merv, 71, all died at the scene. Graham’s brother Ross survived and raised the alarm.

A 59-year-old neighbor has been arrested and charged with three counts of murder and one count of attempted murder, and will face court Monday.

7NEWS understands police will allege that the gunman invited them to meet up at his property amid a dispute over a boundary line.

The 59-year-old man – who was also charged with one count of attempted murder – will appear in Proserpine Magistrates Court on Monday.

The charges come as new tragic details emerge that Graham’s partner Lucy had only recently given birth.

Graham’s uncle, Greg Austen, told 7NEWS the father had only spent a few days with the newborn before the baby was taken to Brisbane to visit Lucy’s mother.

“It’s just devastating shock that things can happen so quickly in the blink of an eye and ruin so many lives so quickly,” he said.

7NEWS understands police will allege the farming family was invited to meet with their neighbor at the edge of his Bogie property, 45 minutes away.

Acting Superintendent Tom Armitt said the property where the shooting allegedly took place was “tens of thousands of acres”.

“It’s actually a 45-minute drive between the neighbours,” he said.

“At the crime scene, which is at the front gate of one of the premises, it is a 3km drive between the gate and the house at that location.”

Armitt said because Ross had been so far from the crime scene, and it was unclear whether the alleged gunman was still at large, police were cautious in their approach to the property.

“At that time, not knowing whether the armed offender was present or not, putting their lives in grave danger, especially when the report was that the people had been shot with a rifle,” Armitt said.

“So that was slow and meticulous work and extremely brave of the officers who were involved at that time.”

The surviving man was airlifted to Mackay Base Hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition. Credit: 7NEWS

Ross was initially in a critical condition but since undergoing multiple emergency surgeries is now reported as serious but stable.

“He was able to speak to us overnight and provide us details of what occurred at the incident yesterday morning,” Armitt said.

“And detectives will be speaking to him again this morning.”

Community in shock

Merv and Maree are being remembered as a “lovely, hardworking” family as loved ones try to make sense of the tragedy.

“We’re lucky we still have Ross with us,” Austen told 7NEWS.

“To see the trauma that would have unfolded in front of him and then be able to go that far to raise the alarm, it’s a mighty effort.”

Graham leaves behind two young children, with partner Lucy stuck in Brisbane, unable to fly on commercial airlines as she gave birth a few weeks ago.

7NEWS understands after desperate efforts from family and friends, a charity will put Lucy and her children on a charter flight home.

Whitsunday Regional councilor Jan Clifford said the tight-knit community would be devastated.

“To my knowledge, nothing like this has ever happened in the Whitsunday region before,” Clifford said.

“We are all deeply saddened by the tragedy.”

Clifford said the incident was bound to have a big effect on the tiny community of Bogie, which has a population of 207 according to the latest census data.

“It’s a little village. Everyone will know everyone… It’s just awful.”

One woman working in nearby Collinsville said the entire community was in shock.

“The whole town is a bit rattled that something like that could happen here,” she told AAP.

“It’s a small town, everyone knows everyone.”

Anger over private jet emissions: Tom Cruise, Kylie Jenner, Taylor Swift among A-listers named and shamed

Quaffing champagne at 40,000ft, flying from glitzy party to awards dos and back again in time for bed — it’s a hard life being an A-lister with your own luxury jet.

But the high life has come under fire this week, as celebrities are being named and shamed for their excessive use of private plans.

A single private jet emits as much carbon dioxide in an hour as the average person does in an entire year, with private flights 14 times more polluting (per passenger) than a commercial plane.

Yet their super-rich owners — many of whom boast about their apparent eco credentials — are hopping on and off their jets for trips that last less than 15 minutes. Using data compiled by an international flight tracker, British marketing agency Yard compiled a list of the worst offenders.

So whose plane is the worst polluter? And who’s the biggest climate hypocrite among the high fliers?

Kylie Jenner

THE JET: Kim Kardashian’s younger sister Kylie has been labeled a “climate criminal” for repeated short haul trips on her £60 million jet. Last month, the billionaire social media star, 24, shared a picture on Instagram showing two private plans — her own de ella and one belonging to her rapper boyfriend, Travis Scott — with the smug caption: “You wanna take mine or yours ?”.

She bought the all-white 59.6ft-long Bombardier Global 7500 on a reported spending spree in 2020.

The exterior features her name and a Barbie-pink strip, while the interiors have white seats, pink satin pillows and eye masks (bearing ‘Kylie Skin’, the name of her make-up range) and colored lights that can be set to different hues depending on the time of day. There are Hermes blankets for guests, two bathrooms, a master suite and an on-board wardrobe.

FLIGHTS TAKEN: 64 this year.

SHORTEST FLIGHT: 12 minutes (Van Nuys to Camarillo, both in California).

CO2 EMITTED: 1,682.7 tons — 240 times the average person.

ECO BOASTS: Kylie prides herself on buying eco-friendly products for her daughter Stormi, four, and made her make-up range vegan last year, telling followers she was going ‘vegan and clean’ because it was ‘time to elevate’ for the planet.

TAYLOR SWIFT

THE JET: The 32-year-old singer — worth an estimated £470 million — bought her private plane, a £33 million Dassault-Breguet Mystere falcon 900, in 2011. With its plush cream interiors and in-built flat screen TVs, it features 18 fully reclining seats and a distinctive number 13 on the side (her lucky number and birth date in December).

She used to own two jets but sold the smaller one (worth a mere £4.9 million) in early 2020.

FLIGHTS TAKEN: 170 this year

SHORTEST FLIGHT: 36 minutes (Missouri to Nashville, Tennessee).

CO2 EMITTED: 8,293.54 tons — 1,185 times the average person’s annual carbon emissions of seven tons.

ECO BOASTS: in 2020, Taylor was branded a “sustainable fashion influencer” by Vogue. In another interview that same year, she branded climate change a “horrific situation.”

A representative defended her apparent air miles, saying that her jet is “loaned out regularly to other individuals”. They added: “To attribute most or all of these trips to her de ella is blatantly incorrect”.

OPRAH WINFREY

THE JET: With an estimated net worth of more than £2 billion, it’s no wonder TV host Oprah has her own posh plane. The 68-year-old bought a £62 million Gulfstream G650 in 2016, reportedly after becoming irritated when a female fan asked her for a hug while she was waiting in an airport queue.

The opulent jet, which can comfortably fit 16, is divided into four themed areas: dine, work, entertain and relax.

There’s a double bed, a conference room and a dining area as well as an on-board chef.

FLIGHTS TAKEN: 68 this year.

SHORTEST FLIGHT: 14 minutes (Van Nuys to Santa Barbara, California).

CO2 EMITTED: 3,493.17 tons — 499 times the average person.

ECO BOASTS: “The future of life as we know it is being determined by everything we’re doing — and not doing — now,” wrote Oprah, in a 2019 post calling on fans to do their bit for the environment.

MARK WAHLBERG

THE JET: actor Mark, 51, owns a £9.9 million Bombardier global Express jet, which he bought in 2016. The top-of-the-range model — which he had renovated at vast expense last year — has a large ‘W’ on the tail and such a spacious cabin that the fitness-obsessed star can do workouts on board.

Pictures from his social media show soft beige furnishings and polished wood, as well as several screens so his four children can benefit from the high-speed wi-fi. Mark came under fire last month for taking a series of short flights from London to Dublin (48 minutes) and then on to Shannon (23 minutes) for a round of golf.

FLIGHTS TAKEN: 101 this year.

SHORTEST FLIGHT: nine minutes (Los Angeles to Van Nuys, California).

CO2 EMITTED: 3,772.85 tons — 538.9 times the average person.

ECO BOASTS: in 2020, Mark publicly pledged to give up meat and dairy to reduce its impact on the planet. Yet he has said his jet from him is his “personal 21st century transporter” that takes him “anywhere in the world”.

Kim Kardashian

THE JET: Bedecked in cashmere, the reality TV star’s £124 million jet, ‘Kim Air’, is as gaudy as you might expect. Kim, 41, owns a Gulfstream G650ER, a blingier version of the plans belonging to Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk.

Hers has been customized inside and out, masterminded by interior designer Waldo Fernandez, whose clients have also included Elizabeth Taylor and Brad Pitt. The 18-seater jet features wood paneling, two beds and two bathrooms as well as ‘enhanced air ionisation’, which recreates a fresh breeze at high altitude.

Guests wear slippers from Skims, Kim’s underwear brand, lest they muddy the carpet.

FLIGHTS TAKEN: 57 this year.

SHORTEST FLIGHT: Ten minutes (Van Nuys to Camarillo, California).

CO2 EMITTED: 4,268.5 tons — 609.8 times the average person.

ECO BOASTS: The reality star has spoken in the past about wanting her businesses to be more environmentally-friendly. In 2019, she praised climate activist Greta Thunberg, and, a year later, she tweeted: ‘Climate change is real’ alongside an emoji of a broken heart.

TOM CRUISE*

THE JET: The Top Gun star, 60, owns not one but five private jets — the most opulent of which is the 19-seat Gulfstream IV, worth around £16.5 million.

The aircraft, nicknamed the limousine of the jet world, is decked out with a Jacuzzi and top-of-the-range cinema room, as well as elegant soft furnishings. The actor often flies his private plans himself, having qualified for his pilot’s license in 1994. He also sends them on gratuitous gifting missions around the world.

Last Christmas, he reportedly flew 300 cakes by private jet from his favorite bakery in California to London for the cast and crew of the Mission: Impossible film franchise — a round trip of 5,500 miles.

FLIGHTS TAKEN: 20.

SHORTEST FLIGHT: 12 minutes (Shannon to Killarney, Ireland).

CO2 EMITTED: 149.6 tons — 21.4 times the average person.

ECO BOASTS: In 2019, Tom was among the A-listers criticized for flying privately to Google’s climate change camp in 2019, a faux pas he repeated this May when he took one of his jets to the eco-friendly Cannes film festival.

* Flight data only collected since June 10.

FLOYD MAYWEATHER

THE JET: One of the ‘richest sportsmen of all time’ (his career earnings top £900 million) the 45-year-old retired boxer owns a £50 million Gulfstream G650 jet called ‘Air Mayweather’.

Floyd bought it for his 41st birthday and shares images enjoying massages, haircuts and poker games aboard.

On the outside, the 12-seater jet features the boxer’s surname alongside the letters ‘TBE’ — ‘The Best Ever’.

Floyd also has a fleet of personal pilots, who wear branded uniforms with the insignia ‘TMT’ or ‘The Money Team’.

FLIGHTS TAKEN: 177 this year.

SHORTEST FLIGHT: Ten minutes (within Las Vegas).

CO2 EMITTED: 7,076.8 tons — 1,011 times the average person.

ECO BOASTS: Floyd makes flippant comments about his jet, such as: “When you live this lifestyle, you just wing it”.

President raises concerns about CSE operations – Business News

  • Says SOEs will not be listed on CSE where a few can benefit
  • Calls for changes in the CSE and says if not a new institution will be set up

President Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday raised concerns about the manner in which the country’s capital market, the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE), operates, and asserted the need for the entire system to change.

He said that shares of State-Owned-Enterprises (SOE) will not be listed on the Colombo bourse as a part of restructuring efforts as it is controlled by a few investors.

Highlighting the market manipulation that takes place at the CSE, Wickremesing he stressed he would not list the SOEs on the CSE so that a few investors can benefit from such a move.

“The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) is not recognized by the London Stock Exchange. There are many questions about the stock exchange that a few people control it. And a few people rig it.

“Now can I put an SOE shares on to that?” said Wickremesinghe while questioning the credibility of the stock market operations in Sri Lanka.

The President called for changes to take place at the CSE, failing which he said a new institution will be set up.
“I don’t want any arguments on that. If we are to use the present stock exchange, we all should be satisfied that it is neutral and will benefit all,” asserted Wickremesinghe.

Pennsylvania house fire leaves 7 adults, 3 children dead

A fire that tore through a Pennsylvania house killed 10 people — including three children — early Friday morning, all of whom were members of the same family and related to a volunteer fireman who responded to the blaze.

Three children, ages 5, 6 and 7, and seven adults were killed in the Nescopeck blaze, state police said. Three others were able to escape the inferno, according to first responders.

Nescopeck volunteer firefighter Harold Baker told The Citizens’ Voice of Wilkes-Barre that the victims included his son, daughter, father-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, three grandchildren and two other relatives.

“When we turned the corner up here on Dewey [Street] I knew right away what house it was just by looking down the street,” Baker told the paper. “I was on the first engine, and when we pulled up, the whole place was fully involved. We tried to get in to them.”

Thirteen dogs were also in the home it went up in flames around 2:30 am, Baker told WNEP. It was unclear if any of them survived.

Crews work to demolish the house destroyed by a fatal fire on the 700 block of 1st Street in Nescopeck on Aug. 5, 2022.

“The kids that were there and my two kids were just visiting their aunt and uncle. Those were the ones who owned the house. They were there visiting and going into the pool and all that,” Baker reportedly said.

A loud popping sound or explosion was heard by neighbors, who reported seeing the home quickly go up in flames.

“They’re all dead,” a young man screamed in front of the home, some neighbors reportedly said.

A “complex criminal investigation” was underway, Pennsylvania State Police Lt. Derek Felsman said.
