Football 2022: Lionel Messi scores ‘outrageous’ bicycle kick goal in PSG’s Ligue 1 win over Clermont

Lionel Messi scored twice in the second half, including with a stunning overhead kick, as Paris Saint-Germain began their defense of the Ligue 1 title with a 5-0 demolition of Clermont on Sunday (AEST).

Neymar was also in outstanding form for a PSG side who did not miss the injured Kylian Mbappe, with the Brazilian opening the scoring in Clermont before setting up Achraf Hakimi and Marquinhos for further goals before halftime.

Messi then exchanged passes with Neymar before sidefooting in the visitors’ fourth goal with 10 minutes left.

Yet Messi saved the best for last, darting into the box four minutes from the end to control a Leandro Paredes pass on his chest with his back to goal, before converting with an acrobatic overhead kick.

That goal had the crowd at Clermont’s Stade Gabriel-Montpied singing the name of the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner, who endured a difficult first season in Paris.

PSG’s victory in new coach Christophe Galtier’s first league game in charge was achieved despite Mbappe missing the trip due to an adductor injury.

Mbappe also missed last week’s 4-0 defeat of Nantes in the season-opening Champions Trophy due to suspension.

Messi had opened the scoring in that game, while Neymar netted a brace. The duo therefore already have six goals between them this season, with PSG looking in ominous form.

“There is no denying we have lots of talent but what I retain is the collective desire to win the ball back very early, to play with intensity, to never let up,” Galtier, who replaced the sacked Mauricio Pochettino, told broadcaster Canal Plus .

“The squad have been very receptive since I arrived. They like to work hard together, have fun together. But the season is long. This was just the first game.”

Australian mum’s travel hate booms into $20m business Luxico

When it comes to holidaying, deciding whether to go with the expected comforts of a hotel or the relaxed amenities of an Airbnb generally comes down to the guest and the mood of the trip.

For mum and businesswoman Alexandra Ormerod, travel has always been high on the priority list – and she had no plans for that to change when she and husband Tom decided to start a family.

But with a little one in tow, the pair soon realized that the simple pleasures they once took for granted in a hotel room were no longer applicable for a young family.

“We have a lot of family overseas… we are avid travelers and after our first daughter was born we quickly discovered in our travels that hotels were dead to us and that came as a bit of a shock,” Ms Ormerod told news.com. ouch

“We soon found it very challenging to be traveling with a small child and finding accommodation that was of a standard better than a serviced apartment.

“We realized quite early on that places like Europe and Asia have a more mature market than Australia, so there are a lot more villas to hire in different locations. Whereas when you came to Australia and you effectively had the option of a holiday home. That home would be hired through a real estate agent and generally you were restricted to a coastal location and picking the keys up from the local fish and chip shop because the office was closed.

Ms Ormerod said the “disconnected experience” and “transactional approach” to hiring holiday homes in Australia meant guests “never really knew what they were going to get” on arrival.

With a background in advertising, Ms Ormerod said her work in travel and tourism along with her husband’s involvement in property development and real estate meant they identified a gap in the market for couples, friends and family groups seeking options in the luxury end of the holiday homes market.

As a result, ‘Luxico’ – which essentially combines hotels and holidays homes into one – was born in 2013.

“Luxico was a bit of an obvious outcome,” she explained of the company, which is now worth almost $20 million.

“We found there was a real niche for designer accommodation which we identified as not really existing at the time Luxico was born.”

Having a house on the Mornington Peninsula, Ms Ormerod said a lot of neighbors and Melbourne residents had “big homes” in the area which sat empty for most of the year. So she and Tom started renting out properties in the area which signaled a huge area of demand for beautiful, high-end homes temporarily.

“We found there was a lot of demand for that $1000-a-night or more price point that was not being serviced,” she said.

“So we then built on that to try and service that demand, and try to take the experience away from a transactional offering to a more hospitality or hotel offering [within a luxury home].”

Each Luxico stay comes with a concierge service – essentially a local who ‘checks you in’ to the home. Each concierge acts as a point of call for guests, with no request too big, small or bizarre. The homes range from $250 to $15,000 or more per night.

“It’s bringing the human element back into that holiday home stay, and all our concierges are from the local area,” she explained of the company which exclusively manages $700 million worth of property across Australia.

“The extra services you can have – from chefs, to butlers and specialist touring – are all part of the optional extras.

“But for the everyday traveller, the feedback has been that the concierge had given them insider tips to the area … maybe told them of an amazing hidden gem they wouldn’t have otherwise known about that made their holiday.”

While celebrity clients make up a large bulk of the brand’s clientele, Ms Ormerod said “mums and dads” still make up the majority of bookings.

“Luxico is an end-to-end service so we exclusively manage all of the properties that we offer,” she said, adding that if a family is looking to book two or three hotel rooms – a home works out to be better value.

“So we are managing the guest experience not just through the booking process, but the experience they have in home and even afterwards.

“So from the slippers, to the towels to prepared toiletries, the concierge is going in there and provisioning and preparing the home so if you are traveling with small children we will bring in a toy box so they have something to play with. So it’s all those little touches that make the experience a continuance of the booking process.

“It’s more a holistic experience, connecting you with local products, experiences and service providers that will build on that stay.”

Washington Open 2022, results, semi-finals, Nick Kyrgios def. Mikael Ymer, final, time, tennis news

Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios, seeking his first title in three years, advanced to the men’s final at the ATP and WTA Washington Open with a tight victory over Sweden’s Mikael Ymer.

Australia’s 63rd-ranked Kyrgios edged 115th-ranked Ymer 7-6 (7/4), 6-3 and will play for the crown Sunday against the later winner between top seed Andrey Rublev and Japan’s 96th-ranked Yoshihito Nishioka.

Kyrgios, who won the most recent of his six ATP titles at Washington in 2019, has a 2-1 career mark against Rublev and a 3-0 record against Nishioka.

“I didn’t get to sleep until 4.50am, I just had so much adrenaline after (the Tiafoe win),” Kyrgios said.

“I got some treatment and my body was just so sore after last night. It was an epic battle.

“I didn’t really do much today but I felt like my energy was a little flat early on today and it’s understandable, I’m only human.

“My adrenaline for the final is going to be right there and I’m super excited for it. I’ve got doubles tonight, work on my returns a little bit. I returned pretty poorly tonight I’m not going to lie, so hopefully I can turn it up a little tonight.”

Kyrgios then backed it up to book a spot in the final doubles shortly after alongside American Jack Sock, making it two victories in the space of around five hours.

Estonia’s Kaia Kanepi, trying to end a nine-year WTA title drought at age 37, and 60th-ranked Liudmila Samsonova will meet in the women’s final at the US Open tuneup.

World number 37 Kanepi eliminated Australia’s Daria Saville 6-3, 6-1 in 73 minutes while Samsonova routed China’s Wang Xiyu 6-1, 6-1 in 67 minutes.

Kyrgios won the last three points in the first-set tiebreaker, Ymer sending a forehand long to end an intense rally before Kyrgios added a service winner and overhead smash.

Ymer, who lost his only ATP final last August in Winston-Salem, botched a forehand volley in the third game of the second set to miss a chance to grab a break point.

Kyrgios earned the first break points of the match in the eighth game and took advantage on his third chance with a passing forehand winner to break for a 5-3 edge, then held to claim the match after 94 minutes on his 10th ace.

The Aussie fired 28 winners with only 15 unforced errors and dropped only four points on his second serve.

Rublev seeks his 12th career crown and fourth title of the season after Marseille, Dubai and Belgrade, hoping to match Spaniards Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz for the most ATP trophies this year.

Nishioka, in his first ATP semi-final since 2020 at Delray Beach, won his only ATP title in 2018 at Shenzhen.

Nishioka and Rublev split two prior meetings, Nishioka winning at Sydney in 2019 and Rublev at last year’s ATP Cup.

Kanepi seeks her fifth career WTA title but her first since the 2013 Brussels Open. She won her only WTA hardcourt title at Brisbane in 2012.

Into her first WTA final since a 2021 Australian Open tuneup at Melbourne, Kanepi dominated Saville’s first WTA semi-final since 2018 at Acapulco.

“I played my best match,” Kanepi said. “Everything was very smooth for me. I hit a lot of lines.”

Kyrgios wins hearts with gift for fan | 00:37

Kanepi reached her first Grand Slam quarter-final since 2017 at this year’s Australian Open and credited that for a confidence boost crucial to her success this year.

“It was amazing,” she said. “I never thought I would make quarters in Australia. I thought it’s not just my place. But I played really well, and then I continued playing well. I didn’t actually put any pressure on myself to achieve something special.”

Samsonova, 23, won her only meeting with Kanepi in last year’s first round at Wimbledon. Samsonova is into her first WTA hardcourt final, having won her only prior tour final at last year’s German Open.

Anne Heche car crash: ‘Horrific’ new details of actress’ accident

An eyewitness to actress Anne Heche’s life-threatening car accident in Los Angeles shared new details on the crash with Fox News Digital today.

It has also emerged that Heche had joked about drinking vodka with wine chasers in an episode of her podcast that was published online on the day of the crash – and has since been scrubbed from the internet.

Heche complains of ‘very bad day’ on podcast

Heche complained of having a “bad day” and told listeners she was drinking vodka and wine in the latest episode of her podcast, published online just hours before her crash and since removed from the internet.

It’s not clear when the podcast was recorded. She and co-host Heather Duffy both speak of drinking free vodka provided by them by a podcast sponsor and washing it down with white wine, while Heche opens up about having had a “very bad day.”

“I don’t know what happened, sometimes days just suck and I don’t know if you ever have them [but] some days, those no good, very bad days, and some days just end up like this,” Heche told listeners.

“Sometimes days just suck and I don’t know if you ever have them, but you know some days, Mama says just gonna be like this. Some days there’s those no good, very bad days,” she continued.

Witness describes ‘horrific’ scenes

A witness to Heche’s crash, Lynne Bernstein, detailed the crash as “horrific” and said he could “hardly breathe” when trying to assist Heche out of the blue Mini Cooper she was driving.

“The smoke was just getting way too intense, we could hardly breathe,” Bernstein said. “The smoke was making it difficult to see.”

Bernstein said that he and his wife witnessed a car going down their street at a “high rate of speed” before his wife heard Heche’s car crash into their neighbor’s house.

Bernstein noted that his neighbor, Dave Manpearl, asked Heche if she was alright and she responded that she was not. The Los Angeles Fire Department arrived on the scene, asked the neighbors if anyone was in the house and they alerted the first responders that a woman was inside.

The tenant of the house exited her home from a side room and was “shocked” by what had happened. “Get out of my house,” the tenant told the group of people outside her home before she realized a car had struck her home from her.

Dave took the tenant’s two dogs to his home. Bernstein noted that the tenant was “perfectly fine, thank God” following the explosive crash.

Bernstein shared with Fox News Digital that Heche was “conscious” but he did not know how “coherent” she was following the crash.

Manpearl exited the car when flames overtook it.

“I was positive that the driver was dead,” he told the Daily Mail “That she had burned up. It took at least 30 minutes for the fire department to douse the flames, extract the car from her and pull her out of the car.

Heche crashed a vehicle into a Mar Vista, California, home, Friday, igniting a fire, and was transported to a hospital in critical condition, according to emergency responders.

A resident was present at the time of the accident at the home and escaped injury. Heche, however, sustained burn injuries and was “conscious and breathing” when she was placed on a stretcher.

A second witness spoke with Fox News Digital outside the homeowner’s home where the damage from the crash is clearly seen.

The crash “scared the entire neighborhood,” Yaroslav Borets told Fox News Digital. “Something we will remember for a long time.” Borets noted that his neighborhood of him is “not the kind neighborhood that knows everyone next door.”

“This is generally a safe place,” he said, explaining that this type of accident doesn’t often occur in the Mar Vista neighborhood.

Brian Humphrey, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Fire Department, told Fox News Digital the person involved in the accidents was transferred to a hospital in critical condition.

The Los Angeles Fire Department shared a statement saying the vehicle had a single occupant when it rammed into a two-storey home built in 1952.

“Fifty-nine firefighters took 65 minutes to access, confine and fully extinguish the stubborn flames within the heavily damaged structure and rescued one female adult found within the vehicle who has been taken to an area hospital by LAFD Paramedics in critical condition,” the statement said.

No other injuries were reported, and the cause of the crash is under investigation, according to FOX 11.

Heche, who has admitted to using drugs and alcohol in the past, famously dated Ellen DeGeneres from 1997 to 2000, the NY Post reported.

After their relationship ended, a shaken and disoriented Heche drove to Fresno and knocked on the door of a stranger. She was briefly hospitalized after the incident.

Heche has said in past interviews that she was molested by her father, Don Heche, from the time she was a toddler to age 12. Don Heche died of AIDS in 1983 and Anne has said he lived a double life as a closet homosexual.

Heche’s brother Nathan died in a car crash three months after the death of their father, which Anne has suggested was a suicide.

Sad sign Prince Harry’s new book is going to target the Queen

The pen, at least according to playwright Edward Bulwer-Lytton, is mightier than the sword but then I suppose eight-figure book deals didn’t exist in 1839 when he was busy jotting down that famous line.

Because he thinks, whether a badly chewed Bic or a Mont Blanc, might be powerful – but a humungous deal with the world’s largest publisher is even mightier still.

Currently, in some secretive computer drive protected by a password only marginally stronger than that protecting the nuclear codes, is the manuscript of Prince Harry’s memoir. Reportedly set to be released before the end of the year, the author himself has promised that he would be writing “not as the Prince I was born but as the man I have become”.

And that man have you become? Well, that man looks like he has quite the ax to grind, with new clues suggesting his book of him could be even more of a Buckingham Palace-rattling doozy than he previously thought.

The question that has started to take shape is this: Is Harry about to ‘betray’ the Queen once and for all?

Since bailing on palace life to swan around California in hulking four-wheel drives and to pay energetic lip service to the notion of service, Harry and his wife Meghan, Duchess of Sussex have obviously done their darnedest to become the loudest and most vociferous critics of the royal family since the English Civil War.

But still, even in the face of all that, some ties with the monarchy mothership, and especially with Her Majesty, have held. After all, the Sussexes were there, albeit in the literal and figurative second row, back in June for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and they paid the 96-year-old a quickie visit back in April when they were on their way to the Netherlands.

But that was then and this is now.

As the clock ticks down to the launch of Harry’s book, will – or even can – this fragile tie hold once his autobiography lands with a thud?

‘Nothing is sacrosanct’ in Harry’s memoir

For months now there have been reports speculating about what revelations and criticisms the Duke might have been busy scribbling in his ‘My First Tell-All’ notebook.

Tom Bower, in his newly released Revenge: Meghan, Harry And The War Between The Windsorsmakes the case that “nothing and no one” have been held “sacrosanct” by Harry in writing his book.

Uh oh… let’s hope the corgis and dorgis haven’t learned to read.

Rewind to February 6 this year, Her Majesty’s Accession Day, when the Queen made the unexpected announcement that it was her “sincere wish” that her daughter-in-law Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall would be crowned alongside her son Prince Charles.

Bower writes that in the wake of the Camilla news, “any doubts about Harry’s antagonism towards his country and family were dismissed by his stony silence” on the matter and that his “refusal to acknowledge the Queen’s decision foreshadowed the problems to come”.

According to Bower: “Occasionally, [Harry] seemed willing to betray every value he formerly held dear. No one realized how his hostility to him had grown during his conversations with John Moehringer, the ghostwriter of his memoirs of him.

“To earn the estimated advance of about $US20 million ($A28.8 million), Harry would be expected to give Moehringer emotional confessions and secret details. These would settle his scores with his family and friends with him. ”

“Among the targets besides William, Kate and Charles would be Camilla. Meghan had identified her as racist.”

In revengeBower writes that the Duke of Sussex was “[edging] towards betraying” some of the people he had been closest to.

“To secure vast sales and recoup the huge advance, the publishers had encouraged Harry to criticize his family in the most extreme terms possible,” Bower said. “Easily persuaded, Harry edged towards betraying his father, Camilla, the Cambridges and even the Queen. And then, the deed was done. To earn out the publisher’s advance, nothing and no one had been sacrosanct.”

It is that last sentence that is the most ominous.

If what Bower reports is correct, then it sounds like the Duke of Sussex’s book could go even further than the denunciations of the monarchy and his family that he and Meghan have wheeled out thus far. (You know, the sensational charges of palace racism, “total neglect” and a callous disregard for the wellbeing of The Firm’s most vulnerable members.)

Who is in Harry’s firing line?

Meanwhile, elsewhere, the Daily Mail‘s very well connected Richard Kay has reported that “there is considerable anxiety in Buckingham Palace circles that Harry, 37, will use the memoir to settle perceived scores with family members and senior courtiers.”

“It is the disintegration of the bond between him and William over the past three years which has so alarmed courtiers.”

One person who has routinely been named as a possible target of Harry’s literary ire is Camilla.

According to Kay, “Five years ago, long before he had thought about writing a book, Harry invited friends of his mother to share memories and private photographs of her.

“One at least had a lengthy discussion with him about Camilla.”

“It was pretty clear that he did not have a high opinion of her,” Diana’s friend later told Kay. “He wasn’t very complimentary about her and I very much doubt he forgot what we talked about that day.”

Blow to the heart of the monarchy

If you take Bower and Kay’s claims together, then it is looking increasingly like the seemingly perma-disgruntled Prince will be pulling no punches on the page when it comes to his family and the monarchy.

And what that means is that, even if he only writes in the most glowing and affectionate terms about his grandmother herself, his memoir could be an abject betrayal of Her Majesty.

Should Harry spend a chunk of his book taking aim at particular family members and various pinstriped staffers who run the royal dog-and-pony show, that would still constitute a strike against the woman who is the head of both the House of Windsor and the institution of the monarchy.

Anything that humiliates or undermines the monarchy indirectly humiliates or undermines the Top Lady (as Diana called her mother-in-law).

Or to quote Louis XIV, “l’etat, c’est Moi,” which translates to “the state is me”.

If Harry does go down this route, then it would be a watershed moment, the sort of line to which there is a very clear ‘before’ and a dramatically different ‘after’.

In this scenario, it is hard to see how he could ever go back in any sense.

In early 2021, Harry appeared on James Corden’s Late Late Show in a dignity-defying appearance (who could ever forget him asking a complete stranger if he could use their loo?) and revealed that the Queen had given the Sussex family a waffle maker for Christmas. This year, will any household appliances be winging their way from Windsor to California?

So, so much is on the line with this book and it might turn out that in 2022, a huge check might end up being the mightiest force of them all.

Why Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson broke up, Kanye factor

Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson’s age difference caused them to split earlier this week, sources exclusively tell Page Six.

“Pete is 28 and Kim is 41 — they are just in very different places at the moment,” the insider says.

“Pete is totally spontaneous and impulsive and wants her to fly to New York, or wherever he is on a moment’s notice,” the source adds. “But Kim has four kids and it isn’t that easy. She needs to focus on the kids.”

The source also tells us that Kardashian — who runs multiple businesses and stars on a reality show — was “totally exhausted by this relationship and other things going on in her life.”

The “Kardashians” star has recently had a tumultuous relationship with ex Kanye West, which caused strife while she was dating the Saturday Night Live alum.

The insider explained: “When Kim is with someone else, Kanye can cause problems with the kids. He tries to divide and conquer. I can’t help it.

“Kim is a really dedicated mother, and her kids will always come first. Ella she wants and needs harmony at her home and in her life.”

Kardashian and Davidson — who have been spending time apart lately as he has been in Australia filming a new movie — met when she hosted Saturday Night Live in October 2021, and started officially dating the following month.

“When we kissed, I was just like ‘Mmm!’ It was a stage kiss, but it was still a little zing,” the SKIMS founder later said of kissing the comedian in a sketch on the late-night show.

However, Kardashian — who filed for divorce from West, 45, in February 2021 — wasn’t sure if the spark was anything special.

“I was like, ‘Wow, I really haven’t kissed anyone else in 10 years, so maybe I’m just like being stupid and it’s nothing, it’s just a stage kiss’,” she added.

Kardashian and West tied the knot in May 2014 and share four children: North, 9, Saint, 6, Chicago, 4, and Psalm, 3.

Davidson — who was previously engaged to Ariana Grande — recently opened up about his “dream” to become a dad one day.

“(I’m) definitely a family guy. My favorite thing ever, which I’ve yet to achieve, is I want to have a kid,” he said last month.

Zodiac signs causing parents to time their pregnancy for right birth month

Parents are timing their pregnancies to coincide with desirable zodiac sign birth months – and it’s a phenomenon that stretches back years.

Several parents are reportedly planning the conception so that nine months later their child will be born in the right month.

There’s multiple threads in Reddit dedicated to the trend.

“Has anyone tried their future children’s zodiac planning based on you and your s/o zodiac?” the Reddit question begins.

“My husband thinks I’m crazy for wanting to plan our next child according to signs so that when we do have another child we can all be compatible.”

Dozens weighed in, including one person who said: “Dad is a Gemini, mum is an Aquarius, and they planned me as a Gemini and I was born in the dead center of Gemini.

“I think it’s a great idea! My parents and I had an incredible relationship.”

Another added: “I like the idea of adding a Libra. I have had three best friends that have been Libras so I thought maybe that could work!”

According to Vicebelief in zodiac signs is prevalent among multiple aspiring parents in America who plan when they want to conceive their child.

However, it doesn’t always go to plan.

The US outlet spoke to several parents who had their babies slightly too early or too late to fulfill their wishes of having the perfect zodiac sign.

Mackenzie Warren, from the US state of North Carolina, was hoping for a Scorpio child but her daughter ended up being Libra.

The couple tried again but deliberately delayed it hoping to avoid Pisces. The second time it worked, as they ended up in Aquarius.

Then there’s Kimberly Miller, from LA, who told the publication that she really didn’t want a Virgo child because that had been her mother’s zodiac, who was quite uptight.

Accordingly, when her due date approached, she tried all kinds of things to kick the process along as the Virgo months neared.

The mum-to-be ate ‘maternity salad’ and even underwent Buddhist chanting upon a friend’s suggestion.

Her daughter, now a teenager, is reportedly very laid-back despite being a Virgo.

Elon Musk says he would fight Kim Jong-un, Vladimir Putin

Elon Musk has thrown the gauntlet down at North Korean leader Kim Jong-un after challenging Russian President Vladimir Putin to physical blows earlier this year.

speaking to the full-send podcast, Musk said in the hypothetical scenario posed to him that he “wouldn’t say no” if the North Korean leader wanted to fight him.

In March, Musk went viral for a tweet in which he challenged the Russian President to fight.

“I hereby challenge Vladimir Putin to single combat,” he wrote.

“Stakes are Ukraine.”

When asked who Musk’s biggest “enemy” was at the moment, the billionaire mentioned his challenge to the Kremlin.

“I am not sure if they are going to send him, but I did challenge him on Twitter,” he said.

So how exactly would Elon Musk battle against the Russian leader known for his military martial arts background?

Easy. Musk says it’s a little known technique called “the walrus”.

“Listen, (the fight will) be a pay-per-view,” the Tesla and SpaceX CEO envisioned.

“It’ll be an interesting question because (Putin’s) good at martial arts and he’s pretty buff. You’ve seen those pictures of him on a horse.

“He has won like Judo championships… so he is pretty good, but I think I am 30 per cent bigger than him.”

Musk said his “weight advantage” would help him overthrow Putin with his ultimate MMA move.

“I’m going to use a move called ‘the walrus’, where I just lie on you. You can’t get away.”

While Musk is known for making controversial commentary that even he worries “could really backfire” on him, the billionaire has focused part of his Starlink efforts to aid Ukrainians.

As Ukraine enters its fifth month during the Russian invasion, Musk has deployed thousands of Starlink satellites to aid the Ukrainian defensive effort.

Musk activated the broadband service in Ukraine, after a Kyiv official urged the tech titan to provide his embattled country with stations.

“Starlink service is now active in Ukraine,” Musk tweeted, adding “more terminals [are] enroute.”

The Satellites have been a vital resource allowing Ukrainians to maintain access to the internet with encrypted data as Russia seeks to target Ukrainian power grids in attempts to disrupt information sharing.

UFC news 2022: Israel Adesanya, Alex Pereira, UFC 281, Dana White, November, title fight

Israel Adesanya will have the chance to re-write some personal history when he defends his UFC middleweight title against Brazilian Alex Pereira on November 13 (AEST).

World champion Adesanya announced on Sports Center that he’ll fight old rival Pereira in a title fight at UFC 281 at New York’s Madison Square Garden.

The highly anticipated grudge match pits the two old foes against each other for the first time in mixed martial arts, after fighting twice before in kickboxing.

Adesanya was visibly shocked by the judges’ decision after his first fight with Pereira, with the Brazilian winning by unanimous decision.

The pair had their rematch less than a year later in March 2017, with a left hand knocking the Nigerian-born fight out during the third round.

While he hasn’t felt the need to chase revenge after losing both fights, Adesanya vowed to “slam this b****” ahead of their meeting at the famous New York venue later this year.

“Have I ever shied away from a fight? I’ve always picked the guy no one wants to fight,” Adesanya said on Sports Center.

“The guy that everyone runs away from, I run towards. So I run towards the fire and this is no different.

“After he beat me in Brazil, I never had any plans of trying to get revenge or anything like that because I don’t hold onto things.

“I’m telling you, the universe has presented this to me and it’s right there. It’s the perfect alley-oop and I’m going to slam this b****”.

Adesanya held onto his middleweight crown with a unanimous decision win over American Jared Cannonier at UFC 276 last month.

The victory extended the 33-year-old’s unbeaten run to three fights, after losing to Polish fighter Jan Blachowicz by unanimous decision in the UFC light heavyweight title fight last year.

As for his opponent, Pereira is undefeated from three fights so far in the UFC whilst he’s undefeated in his last six MMA fights.

The Brazilian is coming off a first-round knockout of the highly rated Sean Strickland.
