Anne Heche’s mum survives four of her five kids

Anne Heche’s mother Nancy Heche has now outlived four of her five children, as well as her husband, who died of AIDS.

Anne’s deeply religious mother, Nancy, 85, and her late husband Donald Heche shared five children, with all but one of them dying tragic deaths at an early age.

The baby of the family, Anne – who grew up to become a Hollywood star – was declared legally dead on Friday after spending days in a coma following a car crash one week earlier. She was 53.

The eldest, Susan, also wrote a memoir about growing up with a closed gay father, “Anonymity,” published in 1994 under her married name, Susan Bergman. She died of brain cancer in 2006. The second daughter, Cynthia, died in infancy, from a heart defect.

The only son, Nathan, a target for much of his father’s non-sexual abuse, died three months after his father did, in a car accident that some surmised might have been suicide, the New York Times reports.

Abigail, now a jewelry designer living in Michigan, was the other child.

Anne’s troubled relationship with her family first became public knowledge following the release of her 2001 memoir call me crazyin which the US actress revealed she was estranged from her mother over her lesbian romance with Ellen Degeneres and childhood trauma.

The Chicago-based Nancy Heche famously lectured against the “evils” of homosexuality after her secretly gay husband, Donald, died of AIDS in 1983.

Nancy, a Christian psychologist who uses the Bible in her counseling practice, disapproved when Anne told her in 1997 that she’d fallen in love with DeGeneres.

“I am plummeted into disbelief and outrage,” she wrote.

“I am dumbfounded, in a state of shock. Doesn’t Anne know what homosexuality has done to our family?”

“How will we ever be able to close the gap, the avowed heterosexual mother and the avowed homosexual daughter?” she added.

After the publication of Anne’s memoir, Nancy wrote that she found “no place among the lies and blasphemies in the pages of this book”. the Six Days Seven Nights star said her mother did not believe Anne’s claims that her father molested her from the time she was a toddler until she was 12, the NY Post reports.

In 1998, Anne Told The Tampa Bay Times that her mother believed that her lesbian relationship with DeGeneres was a “sin”.

Nancy told the Christian Broadcasting Network that she felt her daughter’s relationship with a woman was “a betrayal of an unspoken vow”.

“We will never have anything to do with homosexuals,” she added.

In a separate interview, Nancy told AL.com in a 2009 that she didn’t handle her daughter coming out in 1997 well.

She said: “I’m sorry I didn’t know how to deal with it well. God was giving me an opportunity. We had good moments of trying to connect. All of us were learning how to handle it. We loved each other; how do you live out that when you disagree?”

In a 2011 interview with The Daily Telegraph Anne she had started to rebuild her relationship with her sister following a 20-year feud.

the I Know What You Did Last Summer star said of Abigail: “She came out to visit last week, and we’re having a wonderful time in our friendship as we’ve gotten closer. We’ve both put our stuff behind us.”

In that interview, Anne said that she was still estranged from her mother. She also recalled a time when she had phoned her mother de ella to confront her about allegedly turning a blind eye to the abuse she suffered at the hands of her father de ella. According to Anne, she hung up after Nancy said: “Jesus loves you, Anne.”

Anne added: “Forgiveness is a funny word for me. I’m OK with my mother living her life the way she wants to live it, and I’m OK with her not participating in my life the way I want to live it.

In 2015, Nancy conceded: “(Anne has) stopped talking to me. She made the decision to cut off communication.”

Anne went on to have two children of her own. She shared Homer, now 20, with her

ex-husband Coleman “Coley” Laffoon, and Atlas, 13, with her ex-partner and Men in Trees co-star James Tupper.

The fathers of her children, and her eldest son, paid tribute to Anne following her tragic death.

“In the wake of Anne’s passing, I just want to say a few things. One, I loved her and I miss her, and I’m always going to,” Laffoon said in a selfie video on Instagram.

“Two, Homer is OK. He’s grieving, of course, and it’s rough, it’s really rough, as probably anybody can imagine. But he’s surrounded by his family and he’s strong and he’s going to be OK. ”

In a recent statement to E! News, Homer said: “My brother Atlas and I lost our Mom. After six days of almost unbelievable emotional swings, I am left with a deep, wordless sadness. Hopefully my mom is free from pain and beginning to explore what I like to imagine as her eternal freedom. He added, “Over those six days, thousands of friends, family, and fans made their hearts known to me. I am grateful for their love, as I am for the support of my Dad, Coley, and my stepmom Alexi who continue to be my rock during this time. Rest In Peace Mom, I love you, Homer.”

Tupper also posted a tribute to Anne on Instagram, which simply read: “Love you forever” along with a photo of his ex and the mother of his child.

Tupper initially posted a message to Anne following the car crash that ultimately led to her death, sharing a photo of her with their son and the caption, “Thoughts and prayers for this lovely woman, actress, and mother tonight, Anne Heche. We love you.”

Anne Heche on life support, ‘not expected’ to survive injuries suffered in car crash

Anne Heche is on life support after suffering a brain injury in a fiery crash a week ago and her survival is not expected, according to a statement from a representative.

The actor — who is in a coma and in critical condition — is being kept on life support for possible organ donation, according to the statement released Thursday night on behalf of her family and friends.

Heche — who’s been hospitalized at the Grossman Burn Center at West Hills hospital north of Los Angeles — suffered a “severe anoxic brain injury,” the statement said.

Such an injury is caused by a sustained lack of oxygen to the brain.

“She is not expected to survive,” the statement said.

“It has long been her choice to donate her organs and she is being kept on life support to determine if any are viable.”

On the morning of August 5, Heche’s car smashed into a house in a neighborhood in west Los Angeles and a fire erupted, with the car embedded inside the home.

Earlier on Thursday, local time, police said they were investigating Heche for driving under the influence.

Detectives with a search warrant took a sample of her blood and found narcotics in her system, LAPD spokesperson Officer Jeff Lee said.

Toxicology tests — which can take weeks to complete — must be performed to identify the drugs more clearly and to differentiate them from any medication she may have been given for treatment at the hospital.

Evidence is still being gathered from the crash, police said, and they would present a case to prosecutors if it is warranted when the investigation is complete.

A representative for Heche declined comment on the investigation.

On Tuesday, Heche spokesperson Heather Duffy Boylston said her client had been in a coma since after the accident, with burns that required surgery and lung injuries that required the use of a ventilator to breathe.

“Anne had a huge heart and touched everyone she met with her generous spirit. More than her extraordinary talent, she saw spreading kindness and joy as her life’s work — especially moving the needle for acceptance of who you love,” Thursday’s statement said.

“She will be remembered for her courageous honesty and dearly missed for her light.”

Heche, 53, was among the most-prominent film stars in Hollywood in the late 1990s, playing opposite actors including Johnny Depp (Donnie Brasco) and Harrison Ford (Six Days, Seven Nights).

Her relationship with Ellen DeGeneres from 1997 to 2000 heightened her fame and brought immense public scrutiny.

In a 2001 memoir, she discussed her lifelong struggles with mental health.

She recently had recurring roles on the TV series Chicago PD and All Rise and, in 2020, was a contestant on Dancing With the Stars.

Anne Heche car accident update: ‘Not expected to survive’ as family release statement

Anne Heche’s family have released a statement following her horror car crash last week, saying she’s “not expected to survive.”

The 53-year-old US actress has been in a coma since the accident in Los Angeles last Friday.

“Unfortunately, due to her accident, Anne suffered a severe anoxic brain injury and remains in a coma in critical condition,” a representative said in a statement on behalf of Heche’s family, obtained by People. “She is not expected to survive.”

Heche’s rep added that the actress was being kept on life support to “determine if her organs are viable”.

“It has long been her choice to donate her organs,” Heche’s rep said.

Heche’s family went on to thank wellwishers for their support over the last few days, before talking about the star’s legacy.

“We want to thank everyone for their kind wishes and prayers for Anne’s recovery and thank the dedicated staff and wonderful nurses that cared for Anne at the Grossman Burn Center at West Hills hospital,” the statement said.

“Anne had a huge heart and touched everyone she met with her generous spirit. More than her extraordinary talent, she saw spreading kindness and joy as her life’s work — especially moving the needle for acceptance of who you love.

“She will be remembered for her courageous honesty and dearly missed for her light.”

It comes after police confirmed earlier today that Heche tested positive for cocaine and possibly fentanyl at the time of her crash.

Los Angeles Police Department sources told TMZ that the actress’ blood test results came up positive for both substances.

However, the law enforcement insiders cautioned that fentanyl may have been administered to Heche at the hospital to help manage her pain after the accident, so they will do more testing to determine whether the fentanyl was in her system at the time of the crash, Page Six reports.

the Six Days Seven Nights actress, who dated Ellen DeGeneres in the ’90s, has been in an “extreme critical condition” at the medical center following the collision in Mar Vista, which also destroyed a house and displaced a woman and her dogs.

“She has a significant pulmonary injury requiring mechanical ventilation and burns that require surgical intervention,” Heche’s rep said earlier this week.

“She is in a coma and has not regained consciousness since shortly after the accident.”

Meanwhile, DeGeneres gave a surprisingly curt response yesterday when asked by a photographer about her former girlfriend.

When asked on Thursday if she’d checked in on Heche since the crash, DeGeneres said simply: “No, have not. We’re not in touch with each other, so I wouldn’t know.”

When asked if she wanted to send Heche any well-wishes, DeGeneres again kept it brief. “Sure… I don’t want anyone to be hurt,” she said.

DeGeneres and Heche were arguably Hollywood’s most visible same-sex couple for the three years they were together, from 1997 to 2000.

Anne Heche in ‘dire’ condition, had cocaine in system

Anne Heche was allegedly under the influence of cocaine and possibly fentanyl at the time of her horrific car crash last Friday.

The actress, 53, was not under the influence of alcohol, reports TMZ, despite a photo taken shortly before the accident that showed a red-capped bottle in her car’s cupholder.

Additionally, the outlet described her condition as “dire,” as she has “not improved” since being admitted to hospital.

Heche’s “close friend” echoed those sentiments, telling the Daily Mail she is “in terrible condition” and that “the smoke inhalation is life-threatening”.

The friend requested that people “please pray” for the actress, saying: “Only God can save her now.”

The LAPD did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment, and a rep for the actress declined to comment.

On Wednesday, officials escalated their investigation to a felony DUI after the woman whose home Heche crashed into claimed she was injured and needed medical assistance as a result.

Page Six confirmed on Monday that the department had obtained a warrant to test the actress’ blood to determine whether she was under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs when she crashed her blue Mini Cooper into the woman’s LA home, igniting a massive fire.

Later that day, her rep told us she was “in critical condition.”

“Shortly after the accident, Anne Heche became unconscious, slipping into a coma,” her spokesperson shared.

“She has a significant pulmonary injury requiring mechanical ventilation and burns that require surgical intervention.”

It’s unclear how much progress doctors have been able to make.

Ellen DeGeneres’ cold response to Anne Heche’s car crash

Ellen DeGeneres has reacted to ex-girlfriend Anne Heche’s health amid her reported 140km/h car collision last week in Los Angeles.

The horror crash saw the actress pulled from her vehicle after it burst into flames after crashing into a home. She is still currently in a coma in hospital, foxnews reports.

When asked if she had spoken to Heche since the incident last weekend, the former talk show host, 64, said: “No, have not. We’re not in touch with each other, so I wouldn’t know.”

When asked if she wanted to send the actress any well-wishes, DeGeneres simply stated, “Sure,” as she walked to her convertible. “I don’t want anyone to be hurt.”

DeGeneres also agreed it “sure was” a “dangerous accident” that happened nearly a week ago in LA.

Heche, 53, is currently in “extreme critical condition” at a medical center following the collision in Mar Vista, which also destroyed a house and displaced a woman and her dogs.

“She has a significant pulmonary injury requiring mechanical ventilation and burns that require surgical intervention,” Heche’s rep said. “Ella She is in a coma and has not regained consciousness since shortly after the accident.”

Back in 2000, just hours after her three-year relationship with DeGeneres ended, Heche suffered a public breakdown when she was found at a stranger’s home in Cantua Creek, Fresno County, after parking her car on a highway and wandering through the desert.

Authorities responded to the home of the concerned resident, and Heche was taken to hospital after officials on the scene determined there was a serious medical issue.

“She proceeded to tell me that she was God and was going to take everyone back to heaven with her in some sort of spaceship,” one Fresno deputy wrote in a report at the time.

One year later, Heche admitted to Larry King that she had taken a “hit of ecstasy” when she got out of her car, adding, “I was so far gone by that point, you know, by the time I took the pill, I was waiting for my spaceship.”

she told Page Six last year that the failed relationship not only black-listed her from Hollywood, it also “cancelled” her from the entertainment industry for a decade.

“I didn’t do a studio picture for 10 years,” she said of the fallout. “I was fired from a $10 million picture deal and did not see the light of day in a studio picture.”

Investigation ongoing into crash

Witnesses to Heche’s horror crash told TMZ they tried to help the actress out of her car before she hit a garage door, reversed her vehicle out of a car park and fled the scene. Minutes later, the star crashed her car into a house and ignited a fire that engulfed the home.

On Monday, a public information officer for the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to Fox News Digital that authorities obtained a warrant for a sample of Heche’s blood on August 5.

The results of the blood test are pending, and the investigation is ongoing. Los Angeles Police Department officials confirmed that if Heche is found to have been intoxicated during the crash, she will be charged with a DUI hit-and-run.

Witness Lynne Bernstein called the crash “horrific” and said he could “hardly breathe” when trying to assist Heche out of the blue Mini Cooper she was driving.

“The smoke was just getting way too intense, we could hardly breathe,” Mr Bernstein said. “The smoke was making it difficult to see.”

Heche sustained burn injuries and was “conscious and breathing” when she was removed from the vehicle and placed on a stretcher, before abruptly sitting up as authorities rushed her to an ambulance in video footage from the scene of the incident.

The crash “scared the entire neighborhood,” Yaroslav Borets told Fox News Digital. “Something we will remember for a long time.”

The owner of the house Heche crashed into, Lynne Mishele, was home at the time and “very narrowly escaped physical harm” after the fire began. Ms Mishele’s neighbors created a GoFundMe campaign that raised $US45,000 ($A63,000) in one day.

Anne Heche was ‘coherent’ before her high-speed crash according to salon owner

A “coherent” Anne Heche didn’t appear to be inebriated as she posed for a smiling photo during a shopping trip just 21 minutes before the high-speed crash that left her in a coma, the owner of the store told The Post.

The actress posed with salon owner Richard Glass, 51, while buying a $125 red-haired wig and supplies from him during a visit to his salon in Los Angeles’ hotspot Venice.

The pic was timestamped 10:35am, Glass told The Post — meaning she left around 20 minutes before Heche’s car slammed into a house in nearby Mar Vista at 10:56am.

“I posted the image and not even an hour later it started blowing up,” Glass told The Post Tuesday of the photo he originally assumed would be nothing more than marking a “so random” visit from a Hollywood celeb.

“I didn’t expect — or suspect — anything at all,” he said of the star, who police have confirmed is being investigated for possible hit and run and DUI for her wild, near-fatal high-speed drive after leaving his salon .

“She was polite, cordial and engaging — and she was consistent,” insisted Glass. “It was extremely pleasant — she was a delight,” he said.

Asked if he spotted any signs of her being drunk or on drugs, he firmly insisted: “Not at all.”

Glass — who has owned his studio, Glass Hair, for 21 years — said it was the first time Heche had ever visited.

“She came through the rear entrance of my studio while I was working on a client and said that she wanted a red wig,” he recalled.

The one she liked “hadn’t been cut or styled,” and he told her if she came back later he would have it washed and conditioned and fully prepared, he said.

“She said, ‘No worries, I’ll just take it now,’” he recalled, saying she bought special shampoo and conditioner for it, too, without saying why she wanted it.

“She asked, ‘Haven’t we worked together before?’ and she told me I was beautiful, ”he recalled warmly. “The whole encounter was less than 10 minutes.”

He was shocked when he later found out what happened to his celeb shopper, saying all he could think when he heard about her crash was “what in the world?”

Later, I noticed the red wig he sold in Heche’s car in a photo first posted by TMZ, which also said there appeared to be a bottle of booze.

While Glass insisted Heche seemed calm and coherent, the long-troubled actress was allegedly caught in a series of wild incidents in the moments after leaving Glass Hair and crashing into a house.

Police confirmed to The Post Monday that she is being investigated for hitting another car and then driving off. She was also filmed speeding away from someone telling her to get out of her car when she hit a garage door — as well as almost hitting a pedestrian.

Doorbell cameras then caught the sound of her roaring through quiet residential streets — before slamming into the house, sparking a blaze that took 59 firefighters more than an hour to tackle.

She’d only recently posted a since-deleted podcast, too, in which she admitted downing vodka and wine after being “rocked” by a “very bad day.” Her rep of her insisted to TMZ, however, that it had been recorded days before the crash.

As of Monday, Heche remained in a coma, her rep told Page Six.

“She has a significant pulmonary injury requiring mechanical ventilation and burns that require surgical intervention,” the rep said.

By Tuesday, an online fundraiser has also raised more than $100,000 for Lynne Mishele, the woman whose home was destroyed in the smash.

“Ms Mishele is devastated by what happened to her on Friday — not only because she and her pets almost lost their lives, but because all of her property, including items of profound sentimental value, were destroyed,” her lawyer, Shawn Holley, told The Post.

Officers believe Heche, 53, may have been intoxicated when she ploughed her blue Mini Cooper into an LA home, igniting a massive fire that torched her and her car.

“The info we received this morning was a warrant that was obtained the same day as the traffic collision, which was August 5. The warrant was to draw blood, and an investigation is ongoing pending the blood test results,” a rep for the LAPD said.

“If found intoxicated, [Heche] could be charged with misdemeanor DUI hit and run. No arrests have been made so far.”

A red-capped bottle could be seen in Heche’s car’s cupholder in a photo TMZ reports was taken before the accident.

According to eyewitnesses, the actress first crashed into the garage of a nearby apartment complex but backed up and sped off before residents could help her.

Officials with the LAPD West Traffic Division have confirmed she hit another vehicle before slamming into the house that went up in flames.

Photos from the scene captured Heche being put on a stretcher and showed serious injuries to her back, while aerial shots documented smoke billowing out of the house into which she drove as well as numerous fire trucks surrounding the area.

Heche, also known for a high-profile romance with Ellen DeGeneres in the 1990s, has been open about her struggles with substance abuse.

“I drink. I smoked. I did drugs. I had sex with people. I did anything I could to get the shame out of my life, ”she told ABC News in 2020, explaining that she spent much of her childhood getting sexually abused by her father.

“I’m not crazy,” the Six Days Seven Nights star said at the time.

“But it’s a crazy life. I was raised in a crazy family. And it took 31 years to get the crazy out of me.”

Actor Anne Heche has been hospitalized after a crash in which her car smashed into a house and flames erupted, according to a friend.

“Anne is currently in a stable condition. Her family and friends ask for your thoughts and prayers and to respect her privacy during this difficult time,” Heather Duffy Boylston, Heche’s friend and podcast partner, said in a statement.

Earlier reports suggested Heche was in hospital in a critical condition.

Heche’s speeding car came to a T-shaped intersection and ran off the road and into the house in the Mar Vista section of Los Angeles’ westside shortly before 11am Friday, Los Angeles police officer Tony Im said.

The car came to a stop inside the two-storey house and started a fire that took nearly 60 firefighters more than an hour to put out, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD).

The LAFD reported that the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was rescued after being critically injured in the crash.

Anne Heche car crash: ‘Horrific’ new details of actress’ accident

An eyewitness to actress Anne Heche’s life-threatening car accident in Los Angeles shared new details on the crash with Fox News Digital today.

It has also emerged that Heche had joked about drinking vodka with wine chasers in an episode of her podcast that was published online on the day of the crash – and has since been scrubbed from the internet.

Heche complains of ‘very bad day’ on podcast

Heche complained of having a “bad day” and told listeners she was drinking vodka and wine in the latest episode of her podcast, published online just hours before her crash and since removed from the internet.

It’s not clear when the podcast was recorded. She and co-host Heather Duffy both speak of drinking free vodka provided by them by a podcast sponsor and washing it down with white wine, while Heche opens up about having had a “very bad day.”

“I don’t know what happened, sometimes days just suck and I don’t know if you ever have them [but] some days, those no good, very bad days, and some days just end up like this,” Heche told listeners.

“Sometimes days just suck and I don’t know if you ever have them, but you know some days, Mama says just gonna be like this. Some days there’s those no good, very bad days,” she continued.

Witness describes ‘horrific’ scenes

A witness to Heche’s crash, Lynne Bernstein, detailed the crash as “horrific” and said he could “hardly breathe” when trying to assist Heche out of the blue Mini Cooper she was driving.

“The smoke was just getting way too intense, we could hardly breathe,” Bernstein said. “The smoke was making it difficult to see.”

Bernstein said that he and his wife witnessed a car going down their street at a “high rate of speed” before his wife heard Heche’s car crash into their neighbor’s house.

Bernstein noted that his neighbor, Dave Manpearl, asked Heche if she was alright and she responded that she was not. The Los Angeles Fire Department arrived on the scene, asked the neighbors if anyone was in the house and they alerted the first responders that a woman was inside.

The tenant of the house exited her home from a side room and was “shocked” by what had happened. “Get out of my house,” the tenant told the group of people outside her home before she realized a car had struck her home from her.

Dave took the tenant’s two dogs to his home. Bernstein noted that the tenant was “perfectly fine, thank God” following the explosive crash.

Bernstein shared with Fox News Digital that Heche was “conscious” but he did not know how “coherent” she was following the crash.

Manpearl exited the car when flames overtook it.

“I was positive that the driver was dead,” he told the Daily Mail “That she had burned up. It took at least 30 minutes for the fire department to douse the flames, extract the car from her and pull her out of the car.

Heche crashed a vehicle into a Mar Vista, California, home, Friday, igniting a fire, and was transported to a hospital in critical condition, according to emergency responders.

A resident was present at the time of the accident at the home and escaped injury. Heche, however, sustained burn injuries and was “conscious and breathing” when she was placed on a stretcher.

A second witness spoke with Fox News Digital outside the homeowner’s home where the damage from the crash is clearly seen.

The crash “scared the entire neighborhood,” Yaroslav Borets told Fox News Digital. “Something we will remember for a long time.” Borets noted that his neighborhood of him is “not the kind neighborhood that knows everyone next door.”

“This is generally a safe place,” he said, explaining that this type of accident doesn’t often occur in the Mar Vista neighborhood.

Brian Humphrey, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Fire Department, told Fox News Digital the person involved in the accidents was transferred to a hospital in critical condition.

The Los Angeles Fire Department shared a statement saying the vehicle had a single occupant when it rammed into a two-storey home built in 1952.

“Fifty-nine firefighters took 65 minutes to access, confine and fully extinguish the stubborn flames within the heavily damaged structure and rescued one female adult found within the vehicle who has been taken to an area hospital by LAFD Paramedics in critical condition,” the statement said.

No other injuries were reported, and the cause of the crash is under investigation, according to FOX 11.

Heche, who has admitted to using drugs and alcohol in the past, famously dated Ellen DeGeneres from 1997 to 2000, the NY Post reported.

After their relationship ended, a shaken and disoriented Heche drove to Fresno and knocked on the door of a stranger. She was briefly hospitalized after the incident.

Heche has said in past interviews that she was molested by her father, Don Heche, from the time she was a toddler to age 12. Don Heche died of AIDS in 1983 and Anne has said he lived a double life as a closet homosexual.

Heche’s brother Nathan died in a car crash three months after the death of their father, which Anne has suggested was a suicide.
