Former IBF middleweight champion Lemieux is only 33 but has clearly been left heartbroken by his father’s senseless and brutal killing.

“I’ve accomplished a lot in the course of my career,” Lemieux told Boxing News 24.

“I achieved my dream of becoming world champion, I’ve given the fans rousing fights by accepting every challenge that came my way.

“I devoted my life to training, to boxing, and now I want to cherish every minute with my family.

“I accomplished a lot, but I didn’t do it alone. I want to take this opportunity to thank all the fans who supported and encouraged me throughout my career.”

Lemiueux’s father was shot dead during a 24-hour shooting spree in Canada last week where three people were killed.

One of the men killed was identified as Andre Fernand Lemieux, 64, which David confirmed by uploading a post on his Instagram with a picture of his father accompanied by the caption “RIP dad.”

“To learn that your father died by being shot while waiting for the bus is quite a shock. Everyone in the family is shaken,” he told Le Journal de Montreal.

Lemieux lost his IBF title in a thrilling fight with legend Gennady Golovkin at Madison Square Garden in 2015.

He was also defeated by Brit Billy Joe Saunders in Quebec in 2017.

Lemieux said just after his father’s death: “To learn that your father died by being shot while waiting for the bus is quite a shock. Everyone in the family is shaken.”

Lemieux lost his last fight to David Benavidez in May this year.

His pro career began in 2007 and his overall record is 43 wins and five losses. But many boxers change their minds about retirement, with Tyson Fury performing another U-turn this week.

UFC news 2022: Israel Adesanya, Alex Pereira, UFC 281, Dana White, November, title fight

Israel Adesanya will have the chance to re-write some personal history when he defends his UFC middleweight title against Brazilian Alex Pereira on November 13 (AEST).

World champion Adesanya announced on Sports Center that he’ll fight old rival Pereira in a title fight at UFC 281 at New York’s Madison Square Garden.

The highly anticipated grudge match pits the two old foes against each other for the first time in mixed martial arts, after fighting twice before in kickboxing.

Adesanya was visibly shocked by the judges’ decision after his first fight with Pereira, with the Brazilian winning by unanimous decision.

The pair had their rematch less than a year later in March 2017, with a left hand knocking the Nigerian-born fight out during the third round.

While he hasn’t felt the need to chase revenge after losing both fights, Adesanya vowed to “slam this b****” ahead of their meeting at the famous New York venue later this year.

“Have I ever shied away from a fight? I’ve always picked the guy no one wants to fight,” Adesanya said on Sports Center.

“The guy that everyone runs away from, I run towards. So I run towards the fire and this is no different.

“After he beat me in Brazil, I never had any plans of trying to get revenge or anything like that because I don’t hold onto things.

“I’m telling you, the universe has presented this to me and it’s right there. It’s the perfect alley-oop and I’m going to slam this b****”.

Adesanya held onto his middleweight crown with a unanimous decision win over American Jared Cannonier at UFC 276 last month.

The victory extended the 33-year-old’s unbeaten run to three fights, after losing to Polish fighter Jan Blachowicz by unanimous decision in the UFC light heavyweight title fight last year.

As for his opponent, Pereira is undefeated from three fights so far in the UFC whilst he’s undefeated in his last six MMA fights.

The Brazilian is coming off a first-round knockout of the highly rated Sean Strickland.

Phones banned from Chris Rock Australian tour

People planning to attend one of American comedian Chris Rock’s upcoming shows must abide by a strict set of rules or prepare to be “immediately ejected”.

The threat has raised eyebrows online ahead of the beginning of his Australian tour next week, with ticketholders given firm orders surrounding the event’s phone-free policy.

Holders of tickets, which cost between $134.85 and $217.05, have been told “no mobile phones, smart watches, cameras or recording devices will be allowed at the venue”.

Anyone who dares bring their phone into the venue can expect to be swiftly booted, the Ticketek booking site warns.

“Anyone caught with a mobile phone in the venue will be immediately ejected,” the site reads.

All devices will be stripped from audience members when they arrive, and secured in a YONDR pouch that will be unlocked by a special device at the end of the show.

Guests will be required to take their unusable phones to their seats and hold them throughout the show.

Afterwards, they will line up to have the pouch unlocked at an unlocking station before leaving the venue.

Guests will also need to print physical copies of their tickets to gain entry because digital ticketing won’t be available, Ticketek warned.

Someone who purchased tickets for Rock’s show at Sydney’s Aware Super Theater expressed concern over the strict rule in a post to Reddit on Thursday.

“Just got tickets to see Chris Rock, terms on the tickets say all phones and smart watches will be secured and you’ll be ejected if caught using them,” they wrote.

“I’d kind of like to be able to be reached by the person watching the kids, what the f*** is with this?”

The ticketholder’s concern was addressed by another Reddit user, who claimed the same system had been in place for other comedians, musicians and movie premieres.

“I’ve had to do it many times (comedians like Dave Chappelle, musicians like Jack White, film premieres). There’s usually a designated place where you can get your phone unlocked and check it if required,” they wrote.

The Ticketek event page states that guests “may access their phones at designated YONDR unlocking stations in the lobby” during the show if they need to.

“We appreciate your co-operation in creating a phone-free viewing experience,” the page reads.

Rock made global headlines earlier this year after being slapped by Will Smith at the Oscars for making a bald joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, who suffers from alopecia.

The comedian broke his silence last month during a performance alongside Kevin Hart and Dave Chappelle at Madison Square Garden, according to ETOnline.

“Yeah, that sh*t hurt, motherf***er – but I shook that sh*t off and went to work the next day,” he said.

After remaining mostly silent for months, the comedian-actor addressed getting smacked while headlining stand-up shows in New York and New Jersey, the new york post reported.

“Anyone who says ‘words hurt’ has never been punched in the face,” he said.

During the event, Hart brought a live goat onstage and introduced it as “Will Smith”.

Ticketek has been contacted by news.com.au for comment.

Jake Paul vs. Hasim Rahman Jr. cancelled, why was it cancelled, weight issues, statement, latest, updates

Just one week out from the fight, Jake Paul’s scheduled bout against Hasim Rahman Jr. has been canceled due to Rahman Jr. having serious issues with his weight cut.

The New York State Athletic Commission forced Rahman Jr., who normally fights at heavyweight, to submit regular weight checks to ensure he was cutting weight safely after the 31-year-old was given just one month to prepare.

But according to Rahman Jr.’s promoter Greg Cohen, he was struggling badly with the weight cut and was sitting at 214 pounds just one week out from the bout.

It forced a complete cancellation of the event and prompted a strongly-worded statement from Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions.

“On Friday, Rahman submitted a weight check to the NYSAC that demonstrated he had lost less than 1 pound since originally signing to take the fight 24 days prior,” the statement read.

“This prompted the commission to declare that it would not sanction the fight at less than 205 lbs. Still, Jake Paul was prepared to move forward with the fight at this new weight and a new contract was sent to Rahman’s promoter reflecting a 205 lbs. limit, impose strict penalties should he fail to make weight.

“Upon receiving this new contract Saturday morning, Rahman’s camp indicated for the very first time that he planned to weigh 215 lbs. at the official weigh-in and would not agree to weigh-in at 205 pounds and informing Most Valuable Promotions that they are pulling out of the fight unless the fight was agreed to at 215 pounds.

“MVP and Jake Paul will not reward someone that has conducted themselves in such a deceiving and calculated manner. Therefore, MVP is left with no choice but to cancel the August 6th event.

“This forced outcome impacts Jake Paul, Amanda Serrano and every other fighter on this card who have trained endlessly over the past few months for this event. The boxing community must hold Hasim Rahman Jr. liable for his lack of professionalism.”

Rahman Jr. stepped in on one month’s notice as Paul’s fight against Tommy Fury collapsed for the second time.

Fury, the younger brother of heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, first withdrew due to broken ribs and a chest infection in December last year and then pulled out in July because of visa issues trying to get into the US.

WWE news: Randy Orton and wife caught out having sex at Madison Square Garden, Big Show

Madison Square Garden is a special place for WWE superstar Randy Orton and his wife, Kim Orton.

On the latest episode of “The Wives of Wrestling” podcast — which is hosted by Jon Alba and also featured Kim and Giovanna Angle, who is the wife of WWE Hall of Famer and Olympic gold medalist Kurt Angle — Kim recalled having sex with Orton at The Garden during the most festive time of the year, the New York Post reports.

“Big Show walked in on us in Madison Square Garden,” Kim recalled.

“He told us the room to go in. A security guard walked in on us. That’s when he had both titles. New, fresh love. There’s nothing better.”

Alba pointed out that the WWE took over MSG around Christmas time in 2013, when Orton was the WWE World Champion. The 42-year-old is currently sidelined with a back injury.

“You f***ed in Madison Square Garden at [WWE’s] Christmas shows? What is wrong with you, woman? Alba asked.

“What do you mean?” Kim asked. “We’re showing Christ our love. I’m so glad my kids don’t like me enough to listen [to the podcast] anymore.”

Kim and Orton welcomed their daughter Brooklyn Rose Orton in November 2016 — a year after the couple tied the knot in Las Vegas. She has three sons from her first marriage, Anthony, Robbie, and Michael. Orton also has a daughter, Alanna, from his first marriage to gymnast Samantha Speno.

“Why do you think my husband fell in love with me, Jon?” Kim asked. “He’s like ‘wait a minute, this chick is something else. She’s a freak.’”

Orton proposed to Kim during a romantic getaway to Bora Bora, and they tied the knot four months later on Nov. 14, 2015. The couple met at a live event in Poughkeepsie, New York, in 2012, while she was a member of his fanclub.

Kim brought up the sex story after the group discussed the cleanliness of title belts after they are won.

“People that have titles, when you first bring that title home make sure you alcohol swab that sh*t down,” said Kim.

“Me and Kurt may or may have done it with his medal… I just had them on. You heard ‘clink, clink, clink,’” Giovanna quipped of her Olympian husband.

‘Hold Hasim Rahman Jr. liable’: Jake Paul blasts rival as grudge match canceled

Jake Paul’s has savaged Hasim Rahman Jr. after the fight was called off at the last minute.

The YouTube star was due to fight at Madison Square Garden next weekend but a statement released on Saturday night slammed Rahman for apparently moving the goalposts, The Sun reported.

A statement from Most Valuable Promotions said Rahman’s team tried to change the fight weight from 200lbs to 215lbs.

And it read: “The boxing community must hold Hasim Rahman Jr liable for his lack of professionalism.”

Rahman and his team are said to have offered assurances that he was on track to make 200lbs at the weigh-in on Friday.

Paul claimed Rahman’s team went “as far as to provide a letter signed by a recognized nutritionist that his weight cut was progressing without issue”.

But in the last 48 hours, Rahman had lost less than one pound and the New York State Athletic Commission said it wouldn’t sanction the fight for less than 205 pounds.

Paul’s team claim they were prepared to raise the weight to 200 pounds, but say Rahman indicated he would come in at 215 pounds.

“Upon receiving this new contract Saturday morning, Rahman’s camp indicated for the very first time that he planned to weigh 215lbs. at the official weigh-in and would not agree to

weigh-in at 205 pounds and reporting Most Valuable Promotions that they are pulling out of the fight unless the fight was agreed to at 215 pounds,” the statement read.

“MVP and Jake Paul will not reward someone that has conducted themselves in such a deceiving and calculated manner.

“Therefore, MVP is left with no choice but to cancel the August 6th event. This forced outcome impacts Jake Paul, Amanda Serrano and every other fighter on this card who have trained tirelessly over the past few months for this event.

“The boxing community must hold Hasim Rahman Jr. liable for his lack of professionalism.”

And drastic action was taken with the fight axed and refunds offered to ticket holders and PPV buyers.

Paul was due to fight British reality star and boxer Tommy Fury.

But Fury ran into visa issues and couldn’t fight the YouTuber at Madison Square Garden.

Paul had been sparring with former world champ Chad Dawson in build up to the fight.

He was set for one of the toughest fights of his young boxing career.

This was due to be the sixth professional fight for the younger Paul brother and he is undefeated so far.
