‘Ordered six nuggets and got this instead. Bloody onions.’

‘At McDonald’s, we are committed to giving our customers a great experience every time they visit one of our restaurants,’ a McDonald’s spokesperson told Yahoo.

‘Of course, if a customer receives an incorrect order, we will happily replace this for them.

‘We apologize for the inconvenience and encourage the customer to contact our Customer Service team so we can look into it in more detail.’

Oddly this is not the first time onions have taken the place of chicken nuggets this year.

In June Facebook user Billy Allen who lives in the mid-western US state of Indiana posted a picture of a chicken McNuggets Happy Meal box again filled with raw chopped onion.

A commentator said the same thing had happened to his mother.

Perhaps the best ever surprise found in a chicken McNuggets box was an engagement ring placed their by Illinois man Kristian Helton to win his sweetheart's hand in marriage in 2017

Commenters pointed out that McNuggets were actually preceded by onion rings.

They were introduced as a vegetarian menu option in the mid-1970s and trialed in some test markets in the US from 1978 until 1979.

They failed to catch on and were replaced by the chicken variety after that.

Perhaps the best surprise ever found in a box of chicken McNuggets was by US woman Karsyn Long in the US state of Illinois after her boyfriend placed an engagement ring in a box of her favorite snack.

Kristian Helton placed an engagement ring among the chicken pieces and wrote ‘Will you McMarry me?’ on the underside of the box in 2017.

Ms Long replied ‘yes’.

Major changes are coming to WhatsApp. Here’s what you need to know

WhatsApp announced several new privacy updates on Tuesday, including the ability for users to check their messages without other people knowing.

The platform will soon allow people to control who can see when they’re online, prevent others from taking screenshots of certain messages, and leave groups without notifying entire channels.

WhatsApp has more than two billion users globally, and is owned by Facebook parent Meta.

Watch the latest News on Channel 7 or stream for free on 7plus >>

Announcing the changes on Facebook and Instagram, CEO Mark Zuckerberg said the company would “keep building new ways to protect your messages and keep them as private and secure as face-to-face conversations.”

WhatsApp has long touted its use of end-to-end encryption, which means only the sender and recipient of a message can see its contents.

And like other private messaging platforms, it already allows users to send messages that disappear after set periods of time.

However, last year WhatsApp was heavily scrutinized after an update to its terms of service.

At the time, many users expressed concerns about a section of WhatsApp’s privacy policy that detailed what is shared with parent company Facebook, which has a troubled reputation when it comes to protecting user data.

The update sent some people flocking to Signal, another popular encrypted messaging platform.

Facebook tried to dispel confusion over the policy, saying that its data-sharing practices were not new and did not “impact how people communicate privately with friends or family”.

Now, two of the new features being introduced on WhatsApp — which will let you choose who can see when you’re active, and to leave groups silently — will start rolling out to all WhatsApp users this month.

The screenshot blocking tool, which will be made available on messages intended to be viewed just once, is still being tested and will be made available later, according to WhatsApp.

Missing family who vanished on road trip found after two days in remote NSW

A young family, who went missing for two days while traveling from Queensland to New South Wales, was forced to drink water from a roadside puddle to survive and used a car mirror to get the attention of a search aircraft.

The harrowing details emerged on Tuesday night after Darian Aspinall, 27, her two kids Winter Bellamy, 2, and Koda Bellamy, 4, and their grandmother Leah Gooding, 50, were found safe and well on Tuesday, two days after they were last seen on Sunday.

The family were found near Tiboobura in NSW, and were being transported to hospital for assessment following an emotional reunion with Darian’s fiancé Linny Bellamy.

Speaking with 7NEWS, Bellamy said his loved ones had to take drastic measures in order to survive in the outback of NSW.

That meant getting sustenance from a roadside puddle and making themselves visible to aircraft by using a car mirror

“I can’t believe they managed to stay as strong as they did… they looked after each other and just tried to ration everything out,” Linny said.

A visibly relieved Linny added that despite being “a bit tired”, his family seemed like their normal selves.

“My daughter said hello and told me she loved me… I haven’t spoken to my son yet, but I’ll speak to him soon,” he said.

The family were moving back to Adelaide, where they were originally from, after spending a year living in Queensland.

They embarked on the journey to Adelaide after leaving the Noccundra Hotel in southwest Queensland between 12.30pm and 3pm on Sunday and were heading to accommodation in the remote far northwest NSW township of Packsaddle along the way.

Linny told 7NEWS he was traveling behind the young family in a truck full of their belongings right before they went missing.

Linny says his family had taken a different route along the way, believing they could get through a road badly affected by the weather, despite advice against taking that road from hotel staff at the Tibooburra Hotel, near Packsaddle.

But when they failed to turn up at their destination, and Linny hadn’t heard from them, he contacted police.

“They’re my world… but I don’t know what I’d do without them,” he said.

In an update earlier on Tuesday, police said they had begun a major search across Tibooburra, Broken Hill, Wilcannia, Packsaddle and surrounds, with assistance from the Missing Persons Registry, and Queensland and South Australia Police.

But by Tuesday afternoon the missing quartet had been found.

“Following inquiries, a search and rescue helicopter located a vehicle off-track, about 50km southeast of Tibooburra, about 4.15pm on Tuesday,” NSW Police said in a statement.

Pro-SALT House Dems say they’ll back spending plan

They’re not SALT-y.

A trio of House Democrats from New York and New Jersey have said that they’ll support the massive spending plan their party forced through the Senate over the weekend — despite their earlier insistence that any such bill lift the cap on state and local tax (SALT ) deductions.

Rep. Tom Suozzi, Mikie Sherrill and Josh Gottheimer insisted that the $740 billion so-called Inflation Reduction Act would not raise taxes on individuals, despite a recent analysis by the Joint Committee on Taxation that found levies would jump by $16.7 billion on American taxpayers making less than $200,000 in 2023, while those who make between $200,000 and $500,000 would have to pay $14.1 billion more.

SALT deductions were limited to $10,000 as part of former President Donald Trump’s tax reform plan in 2017, hurting residents of high-tax states like New York and New Jersey.

Late last year, all three lawmakers insisted that President Biden’s multi-trillion-dollar Build Back Better package increase the SALT caps, with Suozzi embracing the mantra: “No SALT, no deal.

”The Long Island rep told The Post Monday that he would support the package “because it is good for my constituents, good for America, and great for the environment.”

“If someone tries to change the tax rates on families in my District, I will insist that we restore the State and Local Tax Deduction,” Rep. Josh Gottheimer vowed.

“Regarding SALT, the Inflation Reduction Act does not increase personal income taxes and ‘No SALT, no deal’ does not apply,” Suozzi added. “If any change is proposed in the personal income tax rate, I will insist that we restore the State and Local Tax Deduction.”

“The bill is fully paid for, in part, with provisions that go after tax cheats. It will also help pay down the debt — a fiscally-responsible way to get inflation down,” Gottheimer said Sunday after Vice President Kamala Harris cast the tie-breaking vote in the Senate.

“As for SALT, my line in the sand remains the same. If someone tries to change the tax rates on families in my District, I will insist that we restore the State and Local Tax Deduction,” he continued. “This legislation doesn’t raise taxes on families in my District — it reduces the financial burden on them. For that reason, and for its strong support of the climate, lower prescription drug prices, and job creation, I’ll be voting for it.”

Rep. Mikie Sherrill.
Rep. Mikie Sherrill said she would vote for the legislation because it “does not raise taxes on families in my district.”

Sherrill also expressed her commitment to reforming SALT, but noted that “[b]Because this legislation does not raise taxes on families in my district, but in fact significantly lowers their costs, I will be voting for it.”

The measure passed by the Senate does out $369 billion on environmental programs, including tax credits for buyers of electric vehicles and rebates for low-income Americans to install renewable energy sources in their homes.

The legislation also includes provisions allowing Medicare to directly negotiate the prices of certain drugs and capping out-of-pocket costs at $2,000 annually. The bill also extends expiring Affordable Care Act subsidies through 2025, allowing people earning up to 150% of the federal poverty level to get health insurance for free.

A $35-per-month cap on what private insurers can charge out-of-pocket for insulin failed to survive the hours-long vote-a-rama that preceded the final vote, falling three “ayes” short of the 60 needed to make the legislation.

The House is expected to reconvene to debate and vote on the measure on Friday. It is expected to pass and be sent to Biden’s desk with all 210 of the chamber’s Republicans voting “nay.”

New Google Stadia feature called “Party Stream” allows gameplay stream and improves YouTube livestreaming

Google’s cloud gaming service, Stadia, has been receiving consistent updates, but even then, there are rumors of it shutting down due to the low number of total users. All the rumors were slashed when the official Twitter account of Stadia tweeted that it’s not shutting down but rather been worked on to bring more games and updates.

@BlueFireDemon44 Stadia is not shutting down. Rest assured we’re always working on bringing more great games to the platform and Stadia Pro. Let us know if you have other questions.

A new update will soon be rolled out to improve the quality of life and the YouTube streaming feature. Currently, to stream through this platform on YouTube, users can only stream one game, and if they wish to switch to another game, they will have to end the stream entirely and start a new one, which is a nuisance. But that has changed.

The latest update to Google Stadia is a godsend to streamers

YouTube streaming on Google Stadia will be much easier and better once the update is rolled out to everyone. It will allow users to pause their live stream, switch games, and click on “Resume livestream” to continue streaming. This will help streamers retain their viewers as they switch games, which would not have been possible without this update.

Moreover, users can also change the device on which the gameplay is being streamed. For example, users can switch from their desktop to mobile devices on the same stream without ending it.

youtube-cover

Another great feature coming out with the update is called Party Stream, which allows players to stream their gameplay to others in the Stadia party. The party can support up to 10 players where there is no limit on how many members of the party can stream their gameplay while others can be viewers.

This means that nine players can stream in the party with one viewer, or one with nine viewers, although only one stream can be watched at a time.

The Party Stream feature also has party chat elements like voice chat so that while spectating or streaming, users can continue to chat with everyone at the party, send messages and react with emojis while the streamer will see on-screen notifications of friends entering or leaving the stream, new messages, and the latest reactions.

Google’s cloud streaming service has been receiving important updates, and since its launch, its integrated YouTube streaming feature has added support for 4K and HDR. The new update will be rolled out to all users on all platforms within the week.

Brooklyn Nets governor Joe Tsai voices support for front office, coaches in wake of Kevin Durant’s trade demands

Brooklyn Nets governor Joe Tsai voiced his support Monday night for the front office and coaching staff after Kevin Durant told Tsai to choose between him and the team’s general manager and coach.

Tsai and Durant recently met in London, ESPN sources confirmed, and Durant reiterated his desire to be traded and suggested the franchise needed to choose between him and coach Steve Nash and general manager Sean Marks.

Durant initially asked for a trade on June 30, and he hasn’t backed off that request. At 33 years old, Durant has four years and $198 million left on his contract, which means Brooklyn can be patient in waiting out teams for the kind of return it believes will eventually emerge for a star player reaching the trade market in his prime.

The meeting between Durant and Tsai was first reported by The Athletic, which also noted it occurred on the one-year anniversary of Durant signing his extension.

Durant, along with Kyrie Irving and DeAndre Jordan, joined the Nets in the summer of 2019 after Marks and then-coach Kenny Atkinson had helped lead the franchise out of the doldrums and to a surprising postseason berth.

Since then, nothing has gone the way the Nets planned.

Durant sat out the 2019-20 season while recovering from an Achilles tendon tear, Jordan was traded, Nash was hired to replace Atkinson, James Harden has come and gone, and Ben Simmons has yet to make his Nets debut.

Irving, who played in 29 games last season after choosing to not get the COVID-19 vaccine, has also pursued an exit from Brooklyn this offseason. He created a list of teams he would have liked the Nets to consider working with on a sign-and-trade deal, but when none materialized, he opted into the final year of his contract. The Nets could still trade him as an expiring contract (although Irving would have no formal voice in a potential landing spot) and have until June 30 of next year to work out an extension before he becomes an unrestricted free agent.

Durant averaged 29.9 points in 55 games last season, after leading the United States to Olympic gold at the Tokyo Games last summer.

Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.

Pennsylvania defense attorney charged with pressing clients into sex

SCRANTON, Pa. — A defense attorney targeted vulnerable clients and pressured them into having sex in exchange for legal work, the Pennsylvania attorney general’s office said Monday.

Corey J. Kolcharno is charged with four counts of promoting prostitution after an investigation found he sexually exploited clients, tethering “his performance as their counsel to a demand for sexual services from them or in exchange for payment,” police wrote in an affidavit.

Kolcharno — a former Lackawanna County prosecutor — was arraigned Monday and released on a $20,000 unsecured bail. A statement issued by his attorney from him said Kolcharno “has made a conscious decision to accept responsibility.” Kolcharno told reporters he intended to give up his law license.

According to state police, Kolcharno targeted women who struggled with addiction, had been sexually abused or had financial problems. At first he requested nude photos or worn underwear, then escalated his predatory behavior into a demand for sex in exchange for legal services, authorities said. I have paid his clients as much as $500, police said.

Victims said they were ashamed but felt they had no choice but to give in, authorities said.

Kolcharno “picked these victims because they had limited choices, because he thought they would be easy to silence, and less likely to be believed if they ever came forward,” Attorney General Josh Shapiro said in a written statement.

Investigators said they found hundreds of sexually explicit images of Kolcharno’s clients on his cellphone.

Police said the crimes took place between 2018 and 2022, when Kolcharno was a partner in the Fanucci & Kolcharno law firm outside Scranton.

Before reentering private practice, Kolcharno was an assistant district attorney in Lackawanna County from 2005-2011.
