Melbourne’s Fitzroy hides a past as a hub for the Aboriginal civil rights movement

When Aunty Denise McGuinness looks up and down Gertrude Street in Fitzroy, she sees her community’s history everywhere.

“Fitzroy’s so significant to Aboriginal people … if you come from Perth, anywhere, you come straight to Fitzroy,” she says.

The inner-Melbourne suburb is now dominated by expensive houses, trendy bars and designer homewares, in recent years garnering a reputation as a hipster haven.

But it’s still home to the large public flats where Ms McGuinness lived as a girl.

Through the 1960s, 70s and 80s, Fitzroy and the surrounding suburbs were a meeting place for Aboriginal people who’d left behind restrictive lives on missions or emerged from state institutions, searching for family links the government had tried so hard to severe.

“We were discriminated against, there was only one pub that would let us drink, and that was the Builders Arms,” Ms McGuinness recalls.

Now, the stories of laughter, tears and powerful civil rights victories born on this part of Wurundjeri land are free for all to hear, through a truth-telling phone app.

Named Yalinguth, after the Woi Wurrung word for “yesterday”, the app follows your GPS location, producing rich audio stories that reveal the recent history of the land you’re walking on.

Wander past the Builders Arms Hotel, and Uncle Jack Charles comes through the headphones, telling you how he discovered Melbourne’s Indigenous community inside as a teenager.

Stroll down to Atherton Gardens, and the late Uncle Archie Roach’s haunting lyrics and story invites you to reflect on the cruel cost of the Stolen Generations.

Manchin to Sinema: Believe in this bill

He also made sure to credit Sinema with cajoling Democrats into that tax-skeptic position after many in her party weighed surtaxes on high earners and pushed for rate increases. Though Sinema’s stayed quiet since Manchin and Schumer announced the deal on Wednesday, Manchin said that he “would like to think she’d be favorable to it.”

“Kyrsten Sinema is a friend of mine, and we work very close together. She has a tremendous, tremendous input in this legislation,” Manchin said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.” “She basically insisted [on] no tax increases, [we’ve] do that. And she was very, very adamant about that, I agree with her. She was also very instrumental” on prescription drug reform.

Manchin and Sinema were aligned for months last year on pushing back against Democrats’ plans to spend as much as $3.5 trillion. Sinema worked on the prescription drug piece and helped shape the revenue package significantly late last year before Manchin rejected what was once called Build Back Better.

Now they are in different places. Manchin negotiated the deal one-on-one with Majority Leader Schumer while Sinema was caught completely off guard by its announcement, particularly the inclusion of a provision narrowing the so-called carried interest loophole, which brings in $14 billion of the bill’s $739 billion in new revenues.

Manchin said he didn’t brief Sinema or anyone else in the Democratic Caucus on his negotiations because of the very real possibility they would fall apart. He said on CNN that when Sinema “looks at the bill and sees the whole spectrum of what we’re doing and all of the energy we’re bringing in, all of the reduction of prices and fighting inflation by bringing prices down, by having more energy, hopefully, she will be positive about it.”

Sinema had no new public comments on Sunday as she studies the bill and waits for the Senate parliamentarian to rule on whether it meets the conditions to evade a GOP filibuster. Sinema’s always been cooler on changing the tax code than Manchin, citing concerns over changing tax policies that might restrict economic growth or competitiveness.

The legislation plows $369 billion into energy production and fighting climate change, $300 billion into deficit reduction, lowers some prescription drug prices and extends Affordable Care Act subsidies through 2024. It claws back revenue by increasing IRS enforcement, narrows the so-called carried interest loophole on investment gains and imposes a 15 percent corporate minimum tax on corporations worth $1 billion or more.

A Joint Committee on Taxation summary found that the bill would slightly increase tax rates on some people earning under $400,000, leading Sen. mike krapo (R-Idaho) to say that the legislation “will do nothing to bring the economy out of stagnation and recession, but it will raise billions of dollars in taxes on Americans making less than $400,000.”

But Ashley Schapitl, a spokesperson for Senate Finance Chair Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) said those families “will not pay one penny in additional taxes under this bill” and said the JCT analysis is not complete because “it doesn’t include the benefits to middle-class families of making health insurance premiums and prescription drugs more affordable. The same goes for clean energy incentives for families.”

Manchin put it even more plainly on “Meet the Press.”

“I agree with my Republican friends that we should not increase taxes. And we did not increase taxes,” he said. “This is an all-American bill.”

The West Virginia Democrat also answered several questions about the second part of a deal: an agreement with Biden, Schumer and Speaker Nancy Pelosi to increase energy production by implementing federal permitting reform. That piece was excluded from the party-line bill because it is likely to run afoul of the strict budget rules on reconciliation bills.

Asked how he can be so sure that will pass later, Manchin offered a warning on Fox News if it doesn’t happen: “There will be consequences.”

Manchin’s urgent push comes ahead of a critical week for the Democratic Party. With Covid infections still infiltrating their 50-seat majority, Democrats are trying to stick to a tricky landing ahead of the August recess. Democrats probably need all their members in town to pass the Manchin deal and still need to get the legislation cleared by the Senate parliamentarian.

On the attendance side, Sen. patrick leahy (D-Vt.) announced he would be available for votes this week, a critical boost for Democrats. Provided all Democrats show up this week, they can pass the Manchin-Schumer legislation with Vice President Kamala Harris’s tiebreaking vote, though first they’ll have to all stick together during an unlimited “vote-a-rama” to keep Republicans from gutting the carefully negotiated bill.

Forget ‘Where’s Wally’, this weekend let’s play ‘Where’s Raptor’

There are a dozen brand-new examples of the Ford Ranger Raptor clocking-up highway kilometers in NSW, Victoria and South Australia this weekend. The Facebook feeds of Ford fans are about to glow orange.

A fleet of 2022 Ford Ranger Raptor media evaluation vehicles – the first shipment of customer-ready versions of the high-performance pick-up to arrive in Australia – will be on the road this weekend clocking up highway kilometers ahead of press test-drives in the coming weeks.

Given the high level of interest in the 2022 Ford Ranger Raptor, eagle-eyed enthusiasts have documented every step of the vehicle’s arrival and posted images on social media.

Indeed, last week, the first truckload of the new-generation Ford Ranger Raptor utes was caught on camera between the shipping dock and Ford Australia’s engineering center north of Melbourne, where the vehicles were due to get a routine check ahead of their running-in phase.

This weekend, a dozen Ford Ranger Raptors – each in Code Orange paintwork, some with Raptor graphics and beadlock-capable wheels – are being driven by Ford employees with one instruction: put at least 1000km on the odometer.

Drive understands while all 12 vehicles were deployed from Ford’s engineering center in Melbourne, they are due to be driven to a mix of destinations, including north to NSW, west to South Australia, or around regional Victoria.

The example in these photos was caught on camera at Adelaide airport. The photos were posted by a member of the Ford Ranger Next Gen Owners Australia group on Facebook.

Apparently this particular vehicle is on the way to this weekend’s round of the V8 Supercars series at The Bend race track.

Given there are a dozen examples of the 2022 Ford Ranger Raptor being driven this weekend, there is every chance photos will begin appearing in significant numbers on social media.

The 2022 Ford Ranger Raptor was unveiled earlier this year, so its appearance is no secret. The images do not amount to ‘spy photos’.

The main reason for the photobombing appears to be excitement among Ford fans who are yet to see a new Ranger Raptor in the metal.

As previously reported, the first showroom examples of the new Ford Ranger Raptor are due in late August or early September, a delay of a few weeks caused by shipping bottlenecks.

However, vehicles ordered today may not be delivered until later this year or early next.

Delivery times vary depending on colour, options and how many vehicles a particular dealer is allocated.

Buyers keen to jump the queue have hit the phone and cast their net wide, in an attempt to secure an unsold vehicle at a regional or interstate dealer.

Meantime, if you’re on one of the many the Facebook forums dedicated to the new Ford Ranger or Ford Ranger Raptor, expect to see a lot of orange on your news feed or in your next scroll in the coming days.

I ignored Ramsay Street for 37 years with no regrets

I have equally limited knowledge about any of the multitude of Kardashian franchises, which I know I will NEVER watch. And, for a while, it was the same with Game of Thrones.

But just as I know who the Kardashians are, for years I knew all about Jon Snow, that there was a lot of blood, gore, incestuous sex and devious plotting going on in GOT. Oh, and that winter was coming.

Peter Dinklage in a scene from Game of Thrones.

Peter Dinklage in a scene from Game of Thrones.

Once, I even pretended to have a favorite “House” after turning up at the launch of a GOT-themed whiskey.

“Starks!” I confidently declared, as the leather-clad, bare-chested bartender poured me the tipple to sample.

I have lost count of the number of times friends, some of them truly committed fanatics of the show, would launch into long-winded, seemingly endless conversations about major moments in the series, like when Ned Stark lost his head – literally. Or the bloody Red Wedding scene.

Each time I would feign interest, smiling, nodding in agreement. But, in fact, I had absolutely no clue about any of it, until many years later when I binge-watched the entire series during lockdown and COVID isolation. It was a daunting task, one I had put off for years because of the sheer volume of episodes to get through.

It proved to be a revelation; I was completely hooked. hurtling down the thrones hole for days on end, I found myself utterly transfixed by those same storylines that once had my eyes glazing over.

As I got deeper into the show, I started sending messages in the middle of the night, sharing my new-found conversion with all the enthusiasm those fans had evangelised the show’s virtues to me years before. Sadly, for them, those major plot moments had well and truly passed.

I received many bemused emoji faces in response, though that was much more polite than the comments I received after admitting on a friend’s Facebook thread I had still not seen top gun as she was espousing the greatness of the sequel Top Gun: Maverick.

And it is, top gun was launched back in 1986. It has been on television too many times to count, and in the era of streaming it is constantly available. I figured the horse had well and truly bolted, so why bother?

My admission prompted a deluge of disbelief from people who have known me for decades. People I consider intimate and dear friends. People I regard very highly.

Suddenly, I was a complete stranger to them. We no longer spoke in a common tongue.

And there are many more “water cooler” shows that have passed me by like house of cards, The Sopranos, ozarks- all of which sound appealing but have so far evaded my remote control.

And again, I ask myself, do I REALLY need to watch the show when I can simply fake it, at least until the next pandemic comes along?

Jack Ginnivan says commentary has affected his mental health, interview, high tackle, holding the ball, shrugs, ducks, Collingwood Magpies vs Port Adelaide Power, video

Magpies young gun Jack Ginnivan has revealed the intense commentary around his game has “definitely taken a toll on my mental health,” but says he has strong support around him.

Ginnivan was at the center of more debate from the football world after being involved in a contentious umpiring decision during his side’s 10th consecutive win over Port Adelaide on Saturday.

It put the 19-year old in the spotlight yet again, having made headlines all season for his polarizing approach and ability to draw free kicks.

Stream every match of every round of the 2022 Toyota AFL Premiership Season Live & Ad-Break Free In-Play on Kayo. New to Kayo? Try 14-Days Free Now >

And Ginnivan admitted the heavy scrutiny has affected him in a brutally honest post-game interview.

“It’s definitely taken a toll on my mental health and all that stuff, but I’m here, happy, smiling, when you’re kicking goals and winning it’s beautiful, so (I) can’t complain,” Ginnivan told Fox Footy .

“I’ve got some strong leaders around me, Darcy Moore, Callum Brown is one of my best mates, he’s looking after me.

“My mum, my family are so amazing, they’re up here every week, so I can’t complain. ‘Fly’ (Craig McRae), he’s a beautiful human, I love him to bits and he’s looking after me day by day.”

The latest controversial umpire call on Ginnivan came midway through the second term of Collingwood’s narrow win over the Power at the MCG after the forward took possession of the ball inside forward 50.

Ginnivan then appeared to turn into a Robbie Gray tackle and get taken high, prompting the umpire to pin the Magpie for holding the ball.

Collingwood fans were vocal in letting their thoughts be known, booing loudly after the decision.

“Every time he’s tackled there’s a question among football fans,” Fox Footy commentator Mark Howard said.

Riewoldt: ‘It was the right decision’ | 00:43

It came after the AFL recently announced a crackdown of high contact interpretation for players who duck or shrug into a tackle, with umpires now instructed to pay holding the ball.

But just last week the league admitted Ginnivan should’ve been awarded a free kick for a tackle laid on him by Essendon’s Mason Redman, but said the Magpie was responsible for the high contact.

It prompted AFL legend Leigh Matthews to say he felt so “sick” and “disturbed” after watching Ginnivan not receive a free kick for the Redman tackle that he couldn’t sleep, declaring the “fabric of the game is being attacked” in passionate Pull on 3AW.

Although St Kilda great Nick Riewoldt said he believed the umpire made the right call in paying the free kick against Ginnivan during Saturday’s clash against Port.

It came amid a strong first half from Ginnivan, booting three goals, with Riewoldt praising the youngster for performing while under so much scrutiny.

“We’ve lost our minds over the last couple of weeks and this young man has been at the center of it,” Riewoldt said on Fox Footy at halftime.

“You’ve got to love the fact he comes out here on the biggest stage and with all the noise, all the talk, despite the fact he’s only a 19-year-old kid, he comes out this quarter and he absolutely lights it up.

Ginnivan gets caught by Gray (Photo by Michael Willson/AFL Photos via Getty Images)Source: Getty Images

“It’s just awesome to watch. I don’t think we’ve spoken about a 22-gamer as much as we have this guy and what has maybe gotten a lost a little bit in all of it is just how well he’s been playing.”

Former Magpies coach Nathan Buckley also thought the incident was well umpired.

“There was the one that wasn’t paid inside the forward 50 and he was a metre-and-a-half from the Port Adelaide defender and knew what he was going to do before he got there,” he said.

“There wasn’t any evasive action taken. I think that one was fair enough, as was the one on the wing.”

Triple M commentator Brian Taylor noted: “I think he’s been given life, Ginnivan! I don’t think he’ll receive a free kick again,” while others on social media were less than satisfied with the officiating of the play.

Manchin says Sinema not involved in bill talks because he ‘didn’t think it would come to fruition’

Sen. Joe Manchin (DW.Va.) on Sunday said the reason lawmakers such as Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.) were not brought into negotiations on a climate, health care and tax deal that he struck with Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (DN.Y.) was that he feared it wouldn’t come to “fruition. ”

The deal would require the support of all 50 Senate Democrats, placing Sinema, who was not involved in the behind-the-scenes negotiations, in close scrutiny until she announces a position.

“The reason people weren’t brought into this, I didn’t think it would come to fruition,” Manchin told CNN “State of the Union” co-anchor Jake Tapper. “I didn’t want to disappoint people.”

The bill is a slimmed-down package from the roughly $3 trillion Build Back Better deal Democrats hoped to pass before Manchin announced he couldn’t support the bill late last year after months of wrangling over a potential deal.

Manchin and Schumer had been negotiating for months on a smaller package. Their talks collapsed on July 14, but the two Democrats surprised many in Washington when they announced a deal last week.

The package would invest $369 billion in energy-focused climate programs over the next 10 years and $300 billion to reduce the deficit in addition to provisions to extend health care subsidies under the Affordable Care Act.

When asked by Tapper if Sinema would support the bill, Manchin highlighted what he said were his contributions to the potential text.

He said Sinema was “very instrumental” in allowing Medicare to negotiate drug prices and the two moderate senators were in agreement to not raise taxes on Americans.

“She has so much in this piece of legislation,” Manchin said. “She’s formed quite a bit of it and worked on it very hard.”

Manchin added that he and Sinema “speak a lot” but declined to say the last time they met.

“Hopefully, she will be positive about it,” he said. “But she’ll make her decision. I respect that.”

Manchin said he hopes that the Senate will pass the bill this week before they leave for the upcoming August recess.

Cost of living: Inflation bites as vegetable and fruit prices rise, pork drops

There’s a place that gives me the shivers: And not just because it’s cold. The fresh section of the supermarket has become terrifying.

I’m not frightened of the vegetables themselves. What’s different is the numbers on the price tags. They suddenly make vegetables look like luxury goods.

The latest consumer price inflation figures are out and they tell a shocking story.

As the next chart shows, the price of vegetables has gone supernova. It’s hardly the only product to have shot up. Your breakfast cereal and the sandwich in your lunch box are also much more expensive than before. Only one product category fell in price in the most recent data: pork.

The price of vegetables went up a lot between March and June this year because in winter, we get our veg from Queensland, and the state got flooded in March. Fields that would usually be full of happy young lettuces were instead knee-deep in filthy floodwater.

The basic law of economics says when things are in short supply, the market starts raising prices. Only buyers who really want something – and who can afford it – are left buying. The rest of us stop buying. This is what markets do – change prices to make sure demand equals supply. Sometimes that means raising prices a lot to scare off most buyers.

I was definitely put off buying my favorite fresh vegetables by high prices. I bought frozen veg a few times, and even bought brussels sprouts instead of broccoli at one point – talk about desperate times!

The price of fruit

Fruit was up by a lot in the three month period too. It rose 3.7 per cent, which is significant. Berry crops got hit by bad weather too. But fruit inflation would have been a lot higher if it wasn’t for avocados. Those guys have their seed on the inside, so they count as fruit, and they have tumbled in price. Who among us hasn’t shoveled in a lot of guacamole in recent times?

Avocado farmers seem to have gone on a planting spree back when jokes about smashed avo were at their peak. It takes five years or so for an avocado tree to grow enough to make fruit, and now the farmers are pulling in massive crops. Jokes about smashed avocado are over in 2022 however, and in a grim irony, it’s avocado prices that are now toast.

“The additional [avocado] trees started producing fruit around the middle of last year, leading to oversupply and sharp price falls,” said a spokesperson from the ABS when I asked about why fruit prices were not as high as vegetables.

She explained avocados are often eaten in cafes and restaurants, so when we eat at home more the avocado industry takes an extra hit.

“Reduced demand from the food service industry due to lockdowns also reduced demand for avocados during the later parts of last year,” she said.

That adds up to cheap avocados. I bought a bagful yesterday for well under a dollar each.

Pork on your fork

The outlier in the graph above is pork. Why is it cheaper, I asked? The answer seems to be cheap imports. I went digging for data and found the Australian pork industry published loads of information on pork imports. They say that by May 2022 we had brought in a lot more pork – 22,000 tonnes instead of 13,000 tonnes by May 2021. Our extra bacon is especially coming from Denmark and the Netherlands.

That extra supply has helped eased prices after a period early in 2022 where pork prices got a lot higher.

But why are the Europeans suddenly sending us so much pork? The answer is a fascinating one – pigs don’t graze grass like cows – you have to feed them (not unlike people!) and as the next chart shows, the cost of feed as a percentage of the eventual price of the pig got very high in early 2022.

Pig farmers have the choice to either make money by turning pigs into bacon, or spend money keeping on feeding them. They are choosing the former. So ironically, high food prices in Europe may be helping keep down the price of Australian pork.

Amazfit T-Rex 2: resistance and price to spare

The Amazfit T-Rex 2 was announced globally last May and became official for the Brazilian market at the end of June, arriving under the proposal to serve users who usually practice extreme sports and visit extreme scenarios, but who do not want to abandon their technology partner.

But does all this durability and resistance reflect the overall quality of the smartwatch? Here’s what you can see below in our full review!

economy and market

Amazfit GTR 3 Pro: Best value for money

technique
April 09

construction and design

Sold in a box reminiscent of traditional watches, the T-Rex 2 comes with its manual, certificates, and charging cable with magnetic screws; A group we are used to seeing for this type of product.

In a style reminiscent of Casio’s popular G-Shock watch, made of polymer alloy with a silicone strap with a classic pin buckle, the overall suggestion of the Amazfit watch is resistance.

With military MIL-STD certification, the model is capable of operating in extreme temperatures, from -40 to 70 degrees Celsius, as well as enduring – in tests – 240 hours of exposure to moisture, 96 hours of salt water spray, ice and freezing rain; Plus the ability to indulge in pressure up to 10 atm.

Until he put his durability to the test, The form has already been sent into space upon reaching the stratosphere, being exposed to an average speed of 290 km/h and a temperature below -64°C, and returning to Earth in a fully operational state , thanks to its GPS.

Available in four variants: black with gold, black with silver, green and beige, the new T-Rex comes with a 1.39-inch round AMOLED screen with a pixel density of just over 460 ppi, ensuring great color viewing and high definition of the elements displayed in the interface.

Our only criticism here goes to the proximity between the screen glass and the edge of the case. Because it’s so close, and because the glass doesn’t have any kind of dedicated certification, we were worried about the screen being easily scratched or even broken during some of the more drastic activities.

In any case, the screen has an automatically adjustable brightness and Always On mode, which makes the screen always visible and active, which brings the operation of the smart watch closer to the operation of a normal watch; Something that may sound silly, but this increases the practicality of not having to keep rotating your arm, touching the screen, or pressing a button to tell the time all the time.

but this is not all. Unlike most watches that have passed through our seats, in addition to touch, the entire system can be interacted with through the buttons distributed on the sides of the watch. One button to go up, another button to go down, one to go back and a fourth to select the highlighted item.

This approach, combined with the resistance guaranteed by all of its certifications, can guarantee the most extreme users – the wearable target audience – a great experience even in the most extreme environments; It will ensure perfect mobility even with the watch completely submerged.

System

And if the durability of the case does not disappoint, we can say the same about the sensors built into the T-Rex 2. In addition to the aforementioned proximity sensor, the watch is also equipped with a dual-band GPS with support for five satellites: GPS, gyroscope, compass, altimeter and barometer; Navigation and location basics.

Equipped with Bluetooth 5.0 and embedded with Amazfit’s proprietary system – Zeep OS, the wearable still supports widgets, which end up expanding its usability, but still doesn’t allow it to be framed in the same section of a smartwatch, of course. reality.

These widgets, which can be accessed through the App Store on Zeep, extend the usefulness of the watch by another centimeter, being very accurate. Forget Spotify, Strava, Google Fit, etc.; Here you will find options such as calculator, water time, dental cleaning, etc.

The only apps out there that communicate with third parties are Notify for Gclock, Notify for Maps, and GoPro. The first two, to interact with the Google Watch and Maps apps, and the third, to control the GoPro.

Unfortunately, the restrictions do not stop there. Contrary to what happens even on cheap watches from the brand, it is not possible to answer calls from your smartphone via T-Rex, only to reject them; The same is true for notifications. Here, it can only be viewed, but the response will remain limited to the smartphone.

However, when making a comparison, we can say that the Amazfit model is an upgraded Mi Band 6, but it is not a smartwatch. And within his suggestion of him, we can say that he does everything relatively well.

Navigation in Zeep OS happens smoothly, without any kind of stuttering and the feature set is quite complete for activity monitoring. It is possible to track your stress levels, heart rate and blood oxygen, monitor your sleep hours and track the levels of your training sessions.

And speaking of training, we have a nice difference here! In addition to the 150 available sports, which include – believe me – even board games, the watch is able to automatically detect dozens of strength exercises, as well as some sports, which show in the application the muscle groups worked during the exercise; surprising thing. A positive point for Amazfit

Still talking about the app, here we have Zepp – the direct successor to Mi Fit; That, despite the change of name and interface that it received thanks to the small confusions that Xiaomi generates with its subsidiaries, it maintains the good qualities of its predecessor, with a simple and intuitive appearance.

Anyway, regardless of the name, with the information collected by the T-Rex 2, Zepp can keep a complete log of user data, keeping a record of the steps taken, the physical activity sessions performed – visualizing the muscle groups working, the rate Heartbeat, stress and oxygen indicators, sleep records, etc.

With the wearable properly connected via Bluetooth, the app also allows you to make more advanced adjustments including taking measurements, setting alarms, making adjustments to monitor sleep and stress, setting goals, and tracking your period, as well as the option to choose from new screen dials.

In addition to the dials available by default through the watch itself, it is possible to select and synchronize a new disk from a partition built into Zepp itself. This one has several options available, with screens divided into categories such as “Classic”, “Training and Health”, “Technology”, “Multiple Information”, “Realism” etc.

Owner of a 500 mAh battery that can be charged in about two hours, Amazfit promises autonomy of up to 24 days for the T-Rex 2; This is an impressive number in theory. But what about practice?

In our tests, in moderate use, without Always On, with a few training sessions, heart rate tracking, continuous sleep monitoring, and sporadic measurements of oxygen and pressure, the watch was able to stay offline for about 20 days. Integers – The value of it closely matches the Brand Promise.

Therefore, an autonomy that does not exceed expectations, thanks to the Amazfit itself, but it is good if we take into account similar models and even simpler activity monitors.

Is it worth it?

It was announced by Amazfit at the end of last June with a suggested price of R$1,540, considering that the T-Rex 2 is a good option that – given the options on the market – could be something more difficult than damaging the watch by immersion in salt water.

Understand that the device could be great for a very specific audience, those who like to venture out in the middle of trails or climbs, promising resistance hard to see in other options on the market, as well as providing a battery befitting of those. who intends to spend one week away from civilization.

However, taking into account the proposed price, depending on the use, it may be better to buy, for example, the Galaxy Watch 4, which can already be found around 1200 R$. And in adventure time, cover your Samsung watch with one of these tough cases, which can be found for under 200 BRL.

Of course, this will not bring good certifications or autonomy of the T-Rex 2 to the Samsung watch; But nothing is being done, either, that will bring the full suite of South Korean smartwatch features to the Amazfit model.

With all the cards on the table, choosing a T-Rex becomes a matter of specific needs. Do you want to spend a week in the woods, without electricity, and want to have a watch on your wrist that will take a beating? The Amazfit model might be the best option. But if that’s not your case, other – smarter – options might sound better.

Points of strength and weakness

But what about you, what do you think of the new Amazfit watch? Tell us here in the comments! As usual, the best prices for the model of the Chinese giant, as well as some of the mentioned models, can be found in the cards below. I’ll stop here, hug and until next time! 😉

Cat McNeil returns to modeling after engagement to former NBA player Miles Plumlee

Australian supermodel Cat McNeil’s back is a crowded canvas with a bleeding dagger, a fly with bat wings, a scorpion, hangman’s noose and roses, dominated by the mantra “Never look back in anger.”

Some images are darker than ink, but McNeil, 33, says that like her engagement to former American NBA player Miles Plumlee, love of gardening and return to modeling after a three-year break, the tattoos bring joy.

McNeil’s portable life story is on display in the latest campaign for Australian denim brand Ksubi, marking her latest comeback. “It’s a part of me that a lot of people are intrigued by, and I’m happy about that,” McNeil, 33, says. “I’m very proud of the work. Back when I started tattoos were taboo.”

That start was nearly 20 years ago in 2003, when a 13-year-old McNeil won the girlfriend magazine model search, beating fellow contestant Ruby Rose, who she would go on to become briefly engaged to in 2010. Following an exclusive contract with controversial photographer Mario Testino and cover appearances on French fashion and v magazine in 2007, McNeil was catapulted to supermodel status, becoming a regular catwalk at Chanel, Prada and Jean Paul Gaultier.

French fashion named McNeil one of the top 30 models of the 00s, along with Gemma Ward and Gisele Bundchen. Like her de ella peers de ella, McNeil’s career de ella has been marked by periods of flashbulb bright exposure, followed by seasons spent avoiding the lens. The Ksubi campaign marks the end of one of the model’s longest retreats from fame.

“It was good to be back and working with a team I knew,” McNeil says. “It was shot at my home and it’s very reflective of me. I remember saving up for a pair of Ksubi jeans when I was young, and it’s still my style.”

In the three years that McNeil has been away from the industry, modeling has changed, with greater size and gender diversity, as well as increased visibility of mature models such as Kristen McMenamy, 57, Shalom Harlow, 48 and Linda Evangelista, 57.

“Don’t forget Kate Moss, Mariacarla Boscono and Stephanie Seymour,” McNeil adds. “It’s definitely nice to see that there’s no expiration date anymore.”
