Chemtech Drake is set to make its return along with League of Legends’ pre-season 2023

Chemtech Drake is arguably one of the most infamous dragon souls within League of Legends. The buff that it provided and the way in which it altered the entire map were so obnoxious that the developers themselves decided to just ban it across the board.

However, it seems that, along with pre-season 2023, the developers are finally ready to introduce Chemtech Drake back into the game. The changes that it is set to receive have been discussed in this article in detail.

youtube-cover

It is tough to predict how fans will react to the Chemtech Drake’s return, as it was quite an issue before. However, the changes to the dragon soul are likely to make it much more balanced this time around.

Chemtech soul will no longer revive champions within League of Legends

The previous version of Chemtech soul is often considered the strongest and most obnoxious in the list for a pretty valid reason. This is because, once the soul was obtained, it provided champions with a sort of ‘last stand’ type ability, where they would revive for a few seconds and were able to deal damage before dying shortly after.

As expected, these vital few seconds made a massive difference in fights as it prevented the team without the Chemtech soul from gaining any substantial gold lead. Besides that, once the Chemtech Drake took over the map, it created camouflage zones everywhere.

Put that chemtech drake back in the basement i’m so serious I can already feel it getting removed again within 2 weeks

This, in turn, made pink ward management a nightmare for players. With the developers failing to find a proper solution to this, they decided to remove it from the game for the time being.

Changes to Chemtech Drake in League of Legends

As it so happens, the developers seem to have found a solution to the issues mentioned earlier, as the new Chemtech Soul will no longer briefly revive champions. Instead, it will now provide additional damage as well as damage reduction when their health is low.

Along with this change, once the Chemtech Drake takes over the map, interactive plants will become mutated. This means that Scryer’s Bloom will now grant movement speed while chasing revealed enemies and Blast Cone will fling players further than before.

Hello @RiotPhroxzon, I’ve just seen the new LoL Pls video, the changes to communication & vision seem really cool, also pretty excited about chemtech drake coming back. I have to admit though, I’m pretty disappointed to here nothing about toplane and seeing jungle changed again.

For clarity, players will be able to travel from the blue buff to the mid lane by simply using the Blast Cone once the Chemtech Drake takes over.

Out of all these changes, the mutation aspect is definitely interesting. However, the increased damage and damage reduction can be problematic, especially if there is a champion like Tryndamere on the team.

Perhaps, this may be something that League of Legends developers will need to balance once the Chemtech Drake returns to Summoner’s Rift.

Asmongold comments on Riot’s upcoming MMORPG

Twitch star Zack “Asmongold” provided his thoughts on the MMORPG that is currently being developed by Riot Games.

During a recent livestream on his alternate Twitch channel Zackrawrr, the content creator reacted to lore videos related to the League of Legends universe, and was left bedazzled after watching a CGI video titled “The Call | Season 2022 Cinematic.”

youtube-cover

Following this, Asmongold provided his opinions on the massively multiplayer game that is in development at Riot Games and claimed that the latter has “everything that they need to succeed.” He said:

“I hope that the… I hope it’s good. I think this is like one of those situations where it’s like, everything is in their, in like, they have everything that they need to succeed.”

Asmongold compares World of Warcraft to Riot Games’ upcoming MMORPG, and provides his thoughts

Zack has regularly been streaming on his alternative Twitch channel over the past few days and has spent recent broadcasts playing the newly launched open-world multiplayer game Tower of Defense.

At the three-hour mark of his August 12 stream, Asmongold reacted to some of the most viral League of Legends content and came across YouTuber Necrit’s titled videos The World of Riot’s MMO is Already Done.”

youtube-cover

Fans then asked the World of Warcraft gamer to view the CGI cinematic trailer produced by Riot Games, which was released earlier this year. Zack commented on the game’s hype after noticing that the video had garnered more than 135 million views:

“Okay, let’s see it. By the way, like, for the amount of hype that this game has, this came out f***ing seven months ago, it has a 138 million views. If you compare that to the Dragonflight ( World of Warcraft’s upcoming expansion) announcement, it has two million views.”

Timestamp: 03:58:24

The OTK co-founder was impressed after watching the cinematic video and hoped that the upcoming MMORPG would do well. He stated that Riot Games has everything needed for the game to succeed and said:

“They have a tremendous, massive existing fan base, they have an apparently gigantic, f***ing world, that I didn’t even really know, like 95% of. They have a like… a huge company. So , because it’s a huge company, they can spend a tremendous amount of money. They don’t have a history of games that have pay-to-win, and that.”

Asmongold cited Valorant and League of Legends as examples to highlight Riot Games’ huge success:

“So, it’s like, every single time, like, you know, one of these games comes out and people worry about, and it seems like, you know, they have the foundation, they have the resources, and also like, they have come success too. Valorant is a great game, League of Legends is a great game. Everybody hates League of Legends, but they still do play it.”

He continued further by saying:

“So, it’s like, I feel like they’ve made very, very good games, and they’ve cupped up with those good games.”

The discussion came to a close when Asmongold confirmed that he would play Riot Games’ MMORPG once it releases.

Lightning strike in South Fremantle causes two-day closure for local bars and cafes

Some of South Fremantle’s most popular bars and cafes have been forced to close this weekend after a rogue bolt of lightning destroyed a nearby power pole.

At around 1pm on Saturday, during another one of Perth’s latest storms, lightning struck a transmission pole in front of Running With Thieves on South Terrace.

Your local paper, whenever you want it.

The bolt split the high voltage pole and spread debris across the road and footpath as well as causing some lines to drop- exposing motorists and pedestrians to dangerous electrical currents.

Western Power has been working to resolve the incident since yesterday afternoon, blocking off the road to oncoming traffic, but the location of the pole has caused some issues for the electrical company.

“The pole is right near water and gas pipes so it’s important that they take care not to damage any of those pipes while fixing the pole,” a Western Power spokesperson said.

Many local cafes and bars closed once the power went out, and despite the weather bringing crowds of people out to enjoy the sunshine – they were forced to keep their doors shut.

La Cabana took to Instagram to tell their loyal customers the bad news Sunday morning.

“Unfortunately we’ve had to make the call to keep our doors closed today!” the post read.

“Yesterday a power pole a few doors down was struck by lightning and the end of South Terrace has been without power ever since!

“A freak incident and one that’s been totally out of our hands. We appreciate your understanding and apologies to everyone that planned to come down last night or today!”

Madalena’s Bar also made a similar post on Instagram.

“Closed today, no power in South Fremantle. See you next week!”

But despite the lightning strike happening directly outside of their venue, Running With Thieves remained open, so those craving an alcoholic beverage at the southern end of South Fremantle were still able to quench their thirst.

Western Power was unable to give an estimated restoration time for when the power will be turned back on, but have said their customer service team will keep the 290 affected customers up to date throughout the process.

Danny Hodgson: Perth soccer star speaks to 7News’ Flashpoint about legal action considerations

Danny Hodgson is considering what legal action he can take for compensation after he was left with catastrophic injuries when he was coward punched by a teenager who was on bail for other crimes.

Mr Hodgson made the revelation in an emotional interview with 7News’ Flashpoint, during which for the first time since the attack, he returned to the Perth Train Station pedestrian bridge where his life changed for ever on September 5 last year.

“If anything, I’m just really angry at the justice system,” he said.

“The justice system is to convict criminals, to protect citizens, and to keep order across the country.

“But again it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to say that a criminal that has 23 offenses shouldn’t stay on the streets.”

Before the attack, Mr Hodgson was a healthy, talented soccer player with ECU Joondalup. He was on his way home from end-of-year celebrations when he was punched to the back of the head.

The teenager was jailed for three years and eight months over his attack on Mr Hodgson and other strangers while on bail. He was facing 23 charges relating to 13 separate incidents in the seven months prior to the attack.

Asked if legal action for compensation was being considered, Ms Hodgson’s partner, Jess Pollock, said “definitely”.

“Someone needs to be held responsible for this and why should we go through this journey and suffer in other ways as well — not being able to pay our bills when we were both working,” she said.

“I don’t even know if what he did was legal to let him out after breaching bail on 23 charges, I don’t even know.

“But if it is legal, and he has followed the law, then the law seriously needs to change.”

Mr Hodgson spent 82 days in intensive care at Royal Perth Hospital before he underwent weeks of rehabilitation at Fiona Stanley Hospital. He was rushed back to hospital last month after suffering a 10-minute seizure at home.

Heartbreakingly, Mr Hodgson’s independence, as well as his dream of having children, has been ripped away.

“We were hoping to start a family pretty soon but now I can’t start a family because you can’t have Jess as having full responsibility for a kid,” he said.

“As a parent you’ve got to have two parents to look after you, to change your nappy, to feed the kid — it’s impossible to have a kid as one parent.

“It’s not impossible but it’s hard to have a good kid and do the right thing, and that’s been taken away from us.”

He added: “I honestly may as well be dead in my head, mate. There’s no point of being alive. I’m worthless, I’m hopeless, I’ve got no benefit of being on this earth anymore.”

Asked if he had a message for Attorney-General John Quigley, Mr Hodgson said: “He can be a hero and save people’s lives”.

“Please change the law so this doesn’t happen again,” I asked.

“You’ve got the power to change the law and you can save people’s lives.”

Mr Quigley did not respond to Flashpoint’s questions asking why the offender was allowed out on bail and what action he had taken to ensure that what happened to Mr Hodgson would not happen again in the future.

But he said he would meet with the family in coming weeks to discuss their concerns.

Under WA’s Criminal Injuries Compensation legislation, a victim of crime can be entitled to a one-off, maximum payment of $75,000.

Murder probe after mum-of-four found dead near popular Queensland fishing spot

Homicide detectives are investigating after a mother-of-four was found dead in bushland near Townsville by teenagers riding quad bikes.

The 44-year-old’s body was discovered on Saturday afternoon on a sandy track off Jaloonda Road in Bluewater, near a fishing village.

Queensland police say the woman had four children, aged 14 to 24, but had recently moved to the area and was living alone.

Watch the latest News on Channel 7 or stream for free on 7plus >>

Detectives believe she knew her attacker but are not treating it as a family or domestic violence incident.

“It doesn’t appear to be a situation where it’s a random attack on a stranger,” Detective Inspector Jason Shepherd told reporters on Sunday.

“It appears that she would have known who her attacker was. They probably went to that location together.”

Any drivers who passed through the area between the early hours of the morning and about 9am on Saturday are being asked to provide dashcam vision.

Police believe the woman died at the location and Detective Inspector Shepherd said it didn’t appear there had been any attempt made to conceal her body.

“It would have been very easy for anyone going along that track to see her instantly,” he said.

A weapon is thought to have been used but has not been found, and police are yet to reveal the cause of the woman’s death.

Shepherd said the teenagers who found the woman’s body didn’t know her but were left shaken by the discovery.

Cost of living: Product ‘shrinkflation’ tipped to continue as shoppers warned to ‘get used to’ higher costs

We’ve all been hearing a lot about inflation but it’s shrinkflation that shoppers really need to worry about.

Shrinkflation is where manufacturers charge the same or even more for smaller servings, betting on most consumers not noticing the difference.

And with rate rises and cost-of-living pressures hitting many hard households, these reductions are offering less and less value for money

Consumer group Choice has been getting tip-offs from peeved Aussies about products that have been downsizing, recently verifying Smith’s crinkle cut potato chips had been trimmed by 5g — or about three chips — to 170g per pack.

There has also been a 20g drop in large packs of Red Rock Deli potato chips to 165g and boxes of Crunchy Nut Corn Flakes have shed 30g.

And sweet-toothed shoppers have been left with a sour taste with Cadbury family-sized chocolate blocks going from the once-standard 250g to 180g.

The latest to drop weight is Maltesers, with a spokeswoman for manufacturer Mars Wrigley saying it was “facing unprecedented cost pressures” like many Australian businesses.

“From time to time, external factors make it necessary for product changes so that we can continue to ensure the availability of our products to all Australians,” she said.

Choice spokesman Liam Kennedy said shrinkflation was a global trend that was expected to continue.

“Most of the examples that we see, a lot of the tips we receive, are in that snack area, cereals,” Mr Kennedy told The West Australian.

But it has hit pet food too, with bags of Purina One cat food contracting by 100g to 1.4kg but costing more.

Choice says 'shrinkflation' is a global trend expected to continue.

Owner Nestle blamed that on recipe changes and higher costs for raw materials, packaging and transport, Mr Kennedy said.

“A lot of business are feeling that right now,” he added.

Elizabeth Jackson, a food supply chain systems expert at Curtin University, warned shoppers to expect ongoing pain at the checkout, mainly due to high transport costs, saying the current inflation spike was reminiscent of that seen in the oil crisis of 1973.

Charlie Teo: Controversial neurosurgeon performing surgery on Australian patients in Spain

Controversial neurosurgeon Charlie Teo has been performing thousands of dollars worth of surgery in Spain while under strict conditions on him operating in Australia.

One Australian family has paid $90,000 to fly their 20-year-old son to a Spanish hospital to have Dr Teo remove a tumor from his back.

Dr Teo was one of Australia’s most high-profile brain surgeons, and had been often referred to by patients as a “miracle worker” before he was placed under strict conditions by the NSW medical regulator last year because of concerns his practice was a risk to the public.

The conditions require Dr Teo to gain written approval from an approved neurosurgeon before he performs certain operations in Australia.

Those conditions do not extend beyond Australia, however, and it has emerged that Dr Teo has assisted in at least three surgeries in the last year in hospitals in Madrid and Alicante in Spain.

He has also been present at operations in South Africa.

Dr Teo, alongside other neurosurgeons operated on Billy Baldwin at the Hospital Universitario Fundacion Jimenez Diax in July this year, at the cost of $70,000.

Dr Teo had removed a brain tumor from Mr Baldwin when he was five-years-old.

His father Alasdair Baldwin said he had always had “complete faith” in Dr Teo.

Why it’s not bananas to put your eggs in the freezer: Experts say it can help families save money

Why it’s not bananas to put your eggs in the freezer: Experts say it can help families save money

  • Apples will last up to 77 days longer if they are put in the fridge instead of bowl
  • Mushrooms should be refrigerated, but they should first be placed in paper bag
  • Cucumbers last longer put in a cupboard or placed in a bowl on a countertop

Keeping apples in the fridge and eggs in the freezer might sound bananas, but experts say it can help families save money during the cost-of-living crisis.

With grocery prices rising a record 10 per cent compared with last year and supermarket staples doubling in price, many shoppers are searching for ways to keep costs down.

And experts at consumer champions Which? say families can save money and reduce waste simply by storing their food correctly.

Their tips include putting eggs in the freezer, but only after cracking and beating them before storing them in a container. Bread should also go in the freezer.

Cucumbers last longer if they are stored in a cupboard or placed in a bowl on a countertop.

Stoned fruits such as peaches, plums and cherries ripen better outside of the fridge, allowing the flavors to fully develop.

Overly ripe fruit that shows no sign of mold can still be used as a topping for porridge or in a crumble.

Once opened, peanut butter is fine to store in a cupboard as long as it’s tightly sealed.

Which? money expert Reena Sewraz said: ‘This crisis is putting a lot of families under pressure but many people aren’t aware that simply storing your food differently can vastly extend its shelf life, saving you money.’

Perth petrol prices: How much WA drivers are paying for fuel every year revealed in new transport data

Drivers are bracing for the looming end to the fuel excise cut next month as new figures show Bunbury is the nation’s most expensive regional center for petroleum, with the average household shelling out an eye-watering $122.70 each week.

According to the Australian Automobile Association’s latest Transport Affordability Index covering the June quarter, that’s $20 per week higher than the national regional average and amounts to $6,381 per year.

Bunbury took out the unenviable gong because research showed its residents tended to drive longer distances than people in other regional centers, the association said.

Perth motorists are far better off for fuel costs despite getting fleeced at the bowser, ranking the second cheapest capital city behind Adelaide, with the average household now forking out $95.71 per week or almost $4977 per year.

Hobart is the nation’s most expensive capital city with fuel costing residents $102.63 per week on average.

This is followed by Darwin ($99.84), Sydney ($99.13), Canberra ($98.92), Brisbane ($98.15) and Melbourne ($97.29).

Scarborough woman Taylor Donovan, 30, says a full tank of fuel for her Kia Sportage is costing her on average $130 a week.

Before recent fuel price surges, it cost her about $65 a week, and Mr Donovan says it’s now “ridiculous”.

“Are we not paying enough? Expensive fuel on top of car registration, insurance, licensing … it’s just full on,” she told The Sunday Times.

“It needs to be paid. It’s affecting me, everyone.

“I feel for the families.

“If I had kids, I’d become best friends with the mums and carpool to and from school and sports.”

Bunbury resident Claudia Stiglmayer, 23, said she is spending at least an average of $80 to $100 on fuel every week and is fed up with the “disruptive” changes to her budget.

“It gives you whiplash, honestly. Prices will be quite high then they’ll go low again,” she said.

“People get comfortable and complacent and then it will spike.

“It interferes with my budget and I can’t get into a solid routine financially…it’s very disruptive.”

Nationally, the average weekly fuel cost jumped to $100.39 – the first time it has passed $100 since the index’s inception in 2016.

“Despite the temporary excise cut, fuel prices are rising and continue to be a significant contributor to cost of living pressures across both regional and metropolitan Australia,” managing director Michael Bradley said.

The excise cut finishes at the end of next month.

Drivers are bracing for the looming end to the fuel excise cut next month as new figures show Bunbury is the nation's most expensive regional center for petroleum, with the average household shelling out an eye-watering $122.70 each week.

The index also showed that total transport costs – covering everything from car loan repayments to servicing, tires and public transport – for the average Perth household was just over $380 per week or $19,782 annually.

That compares to the national capital city average of just over $412 per week or $21,435 annually.

Bunbury stood out again, with total transport costs of almost $363 per week or $18,868 annually compared to a regional average of nearly $343 per week or $17,835 annually.

Sydney is still Australia’s most expensive capital city for transport costs averaging $486.18 per week, followed by Melbourne at $461.01 per week and Brisbane at $454.52 per week.

RAC general manager of external relations Will Golsby noted the change in Perth’s fuel price cycle from weekly to fortnightly in October was making it harder for motorists to save money by filling up on the cheapest days.

Anne Heche’s son mourns mother after shock crash death

Anne Heche’s son has paid tribute to his mother saying the family had lost “a kind and most joyful soul, a loving mother, and a loyal friend.”

In a statement Heche’s son, Homer Laffoon, 20, wrote: “My brother Atlas and I lost our Mom. After six days of almost unbelievable emotional swings, I am left with a deep, wordless sadness.

“Hopefully my mom is free from pain and beginning to explore what I like to imagine as her eternal freedom.”

Watch Sunrise on Channel 7 and stream it for free on 7plus >>

Last Friday, Heche was in a car that was traveling at a high speed when it ran off the road and collided with a residence that became engulfed in flames, Los Angeles Police Public Information Officer Jeff Lee told CNN at the time.

One week after the crash, Heche is “brain dead” but remains on life support, according to a statement from her family and friends and shared with CNN by their representative.

Under California law, due to her condition, Heche is considered legally dead.

Heche has not been taken off life support so they have time to determine if she is a match for organ donation, according to the representative.

“We have lost a bright light, a kind and most joyful soul, a loving mother, and a loyal friend,” the earlier statement from the family said.

“Anne will be deeply missed but she lives on through her beautiful sons, her iconic body of work, and her passionate advocacy.

“Her bravery for always standing in her truth, spreading her message of love and acceptance, will continue to have a lasting impact.”

Heche suffered a severe anoxic brain injury, which deprives the brain of oxygen, as a result of the crash, according to the family’s representative.

A woman inside the home at the time of the crash suffered minor injuries and sought medical attention, according to Lee.

In their message on Thursday, Heche’s family and friends thanked her care team at the Grossman Burn Center at West Hills hospital and paid tribute to Heche’s “huge heart” and “generous spirit.”

“More than her extraordinary talent, she saw spreading kindness and joy as her life’s work — especially moving the needle for acceptance of who you love,” the statement read.

She rose to fame on the soap opera “Another World,” where she played the dual role of twins Vicky Hudson and Marley Love from 1987 to 1991.

She earned a Daytime Emmy Award for her performance on the show.

He followed that success with numerous films, including “Donnie Brasco,” “Wag the Dog” and “Six Days Seven Nights” opposite Harrison Ford.

In more recent years, Heche has appeared in television shows like “The Brave,” “Quantico,” and “Chicago PD”

Following the crash, there was an outpouring of support for the actress from the Hollywood community.

Her ex and former “Men in Trees” co-star James Tupper, with whom she shares one of her two sons, wrote on Instagram: “Thoughts and prayers for this lovely woman, actress and mother tonight Anne Heche. We love you.”

Ryan Tillotson, the producer of Heche’s podcast “Better Together,” said in a statement she was “irreplaceable” and will be remembered for “her big heart, her commitment to the people she loved, and the fearless way she fought for what she believed in.”

“More than a beloved host, Anne was my friend, collaborator, and a damn good actress. Anne added life to every room she entered with her tremendous energy and welcoming presence,” Tillotson said.
