‘I hope you’re happy’: Scorned lover Jenny takes down cheating ex Steve in brutal newspaper advertisement

Revenge is a dish best served cold … or in a newspaper’s ad page, using your cheating ex’s credit card.

Readers of Mackay and Whitsunday Life in Queensland’s east got a shock when they picked up their Friday edition and saw a full-page ad from a scorned lover called Jenny.

“Dear Steve, I hope you’re happy with her,” the open letter read.

“Now the whole town will know what a filthy cheater you are. From Jenny.

“PS I bought this ad using your credit card.”

Mackay and Whitsunday Life have been inundated with “dozens” of messages since the shocking letter went to print on page four.

“We do not know who Steve is, but apparently he’s been very very bad,” the newspaper said.

“We won’t be revealing any details about Jenny.”

But unfortunately the final piece of Jenny’s revenge seems to have not been pulled off.

“We have not charged the credit card in question,” Mackay and Whitsunday Life said.

But Jenny’s actions were met with praise from her legion of new-found fans.

“Jenny sounds like someone I want to be friends with,” one person said.

“Not all heroines wear capes. Jenny is my new favorite person,” said another.

“Couldn’t love this more if I tried LOL… Good on you Jenny,” proclaimed another amused commenter.

However some members of the public were not as kind to Steve.

“Never trust Steve,” one said.

“I would have charged the card,” another person brutally said.

“Everyone who knows a Steve and Jenny have suddenly sat up and taken notice,” someone joked.

Julie Bishop wows at David Jones fashion show wearing sexy ‘revenge dress’

Julie Bishop has turned heads at a David Jones fashion show, wowing onlookers in a figure-hugging designer frock some have already dubbed her “revenge dress”.

Bishop wore a figure-hugging black Balmain minidress, worth around $3750, to David Jones’ spring-summer 2022 “Wonderland” runway show on Wednesday night.

When photographs of Bishop emerged online, social media users went wild.

The mining industry advisor and ANU chancellor recently split from her partner of eight years, David Panton, who reportedly broke up with her over dinner at a Sydney restaurant on July 1.

Fans of Bishop liked Wednesday night’s sexy outfit to Princess Diana’s famous “revenge dress” – a short black cocktail dress she wore at her first public event after splitting from Prince Charles.

Bishop’s dress wasn’t quite as revealing – Diana’s dress, designed by Christina Stambolian, revealed her decolletage, while Bishop’s Balmain number was high-necked.

But it did show off her fit and fabulous figure, prompting former Sunrise entertainment reporter Nelson Aspen to comment after she posted a picture on her Instagram page: “Va va va voom!!”

Pip Edwards, of Australian activewear brand PE Nation, added: “You stunner!”

“Is that like Diana’s revenge dress?” one follower wrote.

“So chic,” hair and makeup artist Max May wrote.

“A goddess,” wrote another follower.

Bishop also posted a group shot from the evening, underneath which actor Hugh Sheridan dropped four “on fire” emojis.

‘Wowsers Julie’

“Wow wow wow!,” designer Margot McKinney enthused.

Wow Julie!! You look absolutely stunning. Glamorous, elegance and class,” another follower wrote.

At the time of Bishop’s split with Panton, he told a Sydney newspaper that he would be “focused on living in Manly and Melbourne for the foreseeable future”.

“I wish Julie all the best in her ongoing stellar career.”

Bishop and Panton are believed to have begun dating around 2014 and they maintained a long-distance relationship for years – with Bishop based in Perth while Panton was in Sydney.

The couple had been pictured dining in London with Prince Charles just six days before the news broke of their split.

Bishop regularly attends fashion events and is known for her immaculate style and love of designer labels.

This was department store David Jones’ first seasonal runway show since before the COVID pandemic, showcasing the latest collections from its stable of fashion designers.

Other celebrities spotted at the Sydney show included singer Vera Blue, actress Magnolia Maymuru, Channel 7 presenter Erin Holland, model Victoria Lee and influencer Tara Whiteman.

Coles supermarket shopper outraged after single mum tried to pay for his groceries at Woy Woy store

A Coles supermarket customer has come under fire after criticizing a single mother who attempted to pay for his groceries at the checkout.

Sharing on Facebook, the NSW shopper said he was “embarrassed” by the mum’s gesture and said “I’m dead set over this pay it forward rubbish”.

In his post, the Central Coast shopper urged people who “pay it forward” to “just stop”.

“I’m dead set over this pay it forward rubbish,” he wrote.

“So I was at Coles Woy Woy this morning when a single mum with a pram went to pay for my coffee, milk, banana and frozen chips.

“Just stop, I was embarrassed and can afford my own groceries.

“If you want to help, go donate to a charity please stop embarrassing me at the checkout, rant over.”

Hundreds reacted angrily to the man’s post, sparking an intense debate.

“Wow, what a beautiful lady and a lovely gesture. what a shame it was wasted on yourself,” said one.

“She has definitely inspired myself to do something lovey and kind for someone today #keeppayingitforward.”

Another wrote: “I could afford my own fuel too, but one day a lovely old man paid for mine and his.

“And you know what? I was very grateful and paid it forward a few days later. I’m also a single mum and helped someone.”

A third wrote: “I think anyone that does anything nice these days gets a big smile and virtual hug from me – kindness is catching.

“The more you do the better the world gets. So she picked the wrong person that day but next time she might be that person that’s really is in need and very grateful.

One more added: “Sorry you felt embarrassed. How about feeling appreciated?

“Wonder how it was for that lady to get up the courage to offer you the kindness and you slapped her in the face.

“You should feel ashamed. If you felt embarrassed ask yourself why. That’s your problem, not one else’s.”

But some could understand his hesitation.

“You would be bit miffed wouldn’t you … If you were merrily doing your own thing and you realized people thought you were homeless or something,” a Facebook user said.

Backlash

The incident comes weeks after a woman slammed a social media influencer for sharing his “random act of kindness” towards her.

Influencer Harrison Pawluk went viral with a video that showed him giving a bunch of flowers to the woman as she sat in the street.

Maree – whose surname was withheld – told ABC Radio Melbourne she felt “dehumanized” over the stunt which had racked up 97 million views online.

“He interrupted my quiet time, filmed and uploaded a video without my consent, turning it into something it wasn’t, and I feel like he is making quite a lot of money through it,” she told the ABC.

“It’s the patronizing assumption that women, especially older women, will be thrilled by some random stranger giving them flowers.”

ALDI supermarket shopper under fire after sharing checkout cashier ‘rant’ over grocery receipt error

An ALDI supermarket customer has set tongues wagging after sharing a “rant” about a recent checkout experience at her local store.

Sharing on a popular Facebook page, the Melbourne shopper revealed how she had approached the cashier after realizing that she’d been overcharged for a grocery item.

A photo of the ALDI customer’s receipt showed that instead of paying $7.19 for a reduced pack of smoked salmon, she was charged $13.99.

For more Food related news and videos check out Food >>

When the shopper requested that the difference be refunded, she claimed she was shortchanged by the cashier – receiving $6.30 instead of $6.80.

In her post, the disgruntled customer called out the checkout worker’s “despicable” attitude.

“Today as usual I did my weekly shop at my local ALDI – it didn’t turn out to be pleasant,” she wrote on the Aldi Mums Facebook page.

The shopper shared this image to show how she was overcharged for the item – and then shortchanged with the refund. Credit: Aldi Mums/Facebook

“The checkout staff charged me full price for a product that was on special, but when I approached her and told her she gave me the wrong change [she] insist that is what it says on the till.

“My math is not great but if I was charged $13.99 for something that is $7.19, I should be refunded the difference right? She only gave me $6.30 instead of $6.80.

“The worst part was she said, ‘If it’s not correct then I’ll give you the difference.’ She made me feel like I was in the wrong.

“So I waited for a few minutes to explain to her that she indeed gave me the wrong change, but the line was just too long.

“I know it’s only 50c but money is money plus her attitude was despicable. (End of rant).”

‘Be kind’

But while the shopper may have been thought that ALDI fans would share her frustration, the reaction from many was the opposite.

Many were quick to call on the customer to be more understanding.

“They have to override the reduced price themselves, she probably just missed the sticker,” responded one Facebook user. “Then they have to work out the change themselves it’s not on the screen.

“Maybe she got flustered and made a mistake considering you ‘confronted her’.

“Cashiers at Aldi can serve over 200 people in a shift so mistakes will happen. They have a lot going on speed, lines, working out money and more.

“Maybe next time show a bit more understanding for the cashier just trying to do her best.”

Some Facebook users called on the customer to be more understanding. Credit: Facebook

Added another: “Go easy on customer service staff please. It’s been a really crappy few years for most of us.

“You can’t possibly imagine the abuse and negativity we have received. Be kind.”

A third wrote: “ALDI staff do all of the change calculations in their head. Reduced products need to be manually entered also.

“It’s easy to get flustered in situations like this, try not to be too hard on them.”

Said one more: “Let it go, it’s 50 cents. You’re hanging onto all this anger for something so minor.

“You ‘confronted’ her, then tried to correct her for the wrong change, then wrote a post about it.

“Write down 10 things on a piece of paper you’re grateful for. Focus on those.”

But the shopper defended her post, pointing out that she was never “rude” to the ALDI worker.

“I did give her a break and my 50c,” she responded. “I was not rude to her. My confrontation was very mellow actually.”

She later added: “I wasn’t rude to her. But her insistence and her de ella saying that if it was wrong she would give me the money.

“That made me feel like I was in the wrong and kicked up a fuss. Did not sit well there.”

7NEWS.com.au understands that if ALDI customers have concerns about a store experience, they are encouraged to visit the ALDI help center for more information.

Radio shock jock Kyle Sandilands welcomes baby Otto after leaving show mid-broadcast

Sandilands, 51, was broadcasting from his home studio when he had to walk out of The Kyle and Jackie O show when he realized the baby was on its way.

“I think I might have to leave the show… and go to the hospital,” he said.

Jackie O responded: “Oh, it’s time!”

“Calm down, we don’t want the kid coming too soon,” Sandilands responded. “Guys, I’m so sorry. I feel very unprepared. I’ve got to run

… I feel like I’m abandoning you, but I’m there for my child.”

Seconds later he was off air and Jackie O was left to host the show on her own. Not long after, though, she was able to share the happy news with her listeners that the birth had gone smoothly and the little one had arrived healthy.

“If you’ve just tuned in, little Otto has been born. It’s so hectic – I feel like I can’t think straight!” said Jackie O, who is Otto’s godmother.

Sandilands later phoned into the show, sharing some fairly graphic details about the birth.

“I cut the cord, I didn’t realize it was like tough calamari and blood spurted out. I was the first person to touch him, he sh*t himself, poo was oozing out,” he added.

And, he’s not planning to take too much time out to enjoy new fatherhood, with his manager confirming he will be back on his radio show on Friday to talk about his son and the birth.

ALDI supermarket’s small trolleys arrive in Australian stores: first photo sends customers wild

The first photo of ALDI supermarket’s new small trolleys have been shared on social media, prompting an excited reaction from shoppers.

In June, the retail giant confirmed to 7NEWS.com.au that it will introduce smaller trolleys to customers in an effort to provide “greater convenience”.

In the past, ALDI has only offered large 212-litre carts – which are 1.1m high – for shoppers to use, attracting criticism.

Some claimed that the “enormous” trolleys were unsuitable for elderly, pregnant and “short” people, saying they are “made for giants”.

In response, an ALDI Australia spokesperson revealed that the half-sized trolleys – which are popular at Coles and Woolworths – would be available in stores.

“We recognize that customers are looking for greater convenience when they visit our stores, as it’s almost impossible not to pick up the excellent value products on offer,” the spokesperson said.

Subaru recalls 80,000 cars over dangerous brake defect

Popular car brand Subaru has announced a recall of nearly 80,000 cars with faulty electronic brakes.

A total of 78,617 vehicles across a range of popular models made between 2015 and 2019 have been affected by the fault.

A defective cord within the electric parking brakes can lead to parked cars rolling away, which can cause damage to its surroundings and is potentially deadly.

For more Recalls related news and videos check out Recalls >>

“Due to a manufacturing issue, the Electronic Park Brake (EPB) adapter cord connector may not operate as intended,” the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications said.

“This could result in the vehicle moving or rolling away whilst the vehicle is engaged in the park position.

“If the vehicle moves from its parked position while unattended, it may increase the risk of an accident causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and/or other road users.”

The recall affects the Liberty sedans, Outback wagons, Levorg wagons, and WRX sedans made between 2015 and 2018.

Impreza models and XV models made between 2017 and 2019 have also been affected.

Owners of these models can book their car in for a free repair at any authorized Subaru Service Center Australia-wide.

Subaru Australia will also contact affected owners in writing to request that owners make an appointment to have the vehicle repaired.

Owners can find the contact details for their nearest authorized dealership by entering their postcode here and selecting “Service” from the “Department” drop-down menu.

A selection of the nearest Subaru retailers will be displayed, including the contact details to book instantly online or by phone.

American holidaymaker Theodora McCormick and husband fall victim to notorious Greek restaurant with huge bill

Yet another tourist couple have been left horrified at the bill charged by a notorious restaurant on the Greek island of Mykonos.

American holidaymakers Theodora McCormick and her husband were taking in the sights of the stunning island when they dropped into the DK Oyster bar.

They ordered two beers, two cocktails and a dozen oysters — and were slapped with a $730 bill.

Then when they complained, Ms McCormick claims that “hulking” male waiters intimidated them into paying.

She said that they only dropped into the restaurant to call a taxi and ordered to be polite.

“I told my husband, ‘Oh, why don’t we call a taxi and grab a drink’,” she said. “That was my big mistake.”

Ms McCormick said that when she asked for a cocktail menu, the waiter instead rattled off a list of options.

They ordered two martinis and two beers — and were amazed at the size of the drinks.

Single woman who thought she was going on date at rooftop discovers where address leads to

A single woman who thought her potential date was inviting her to a fancy rooftop bar has made an awkward discovery after finding out where the address actually led to.

Quinn Martin, from the US, matched with a man, known only as “Jake”, from dating app Hinge.

WATCH THE VIDEO ABOVE: Woman discovers where her date’s address leads to

After hitting it off via text message, Jake invited her to a rooftop lounge for their first date.

But when she looked up the address, she realized the location was an apartment block where the man lived.

“He was supposed to take me on a date. I have suggested there’s a rooftop lounge that just opened and not many people know about – and it’s BYOB (bring your own bottle) so we can check it out,” she explained.

Quinn Martin thought her potential date was inviting her to a fancy rooftop bar. Credit: Quinn Martin

At first, she missed his “joke” about bringing her own alcohol to the “bar” so she asked him to provide the address.

“A couple of hours before the date, I asked him for the address because I wanted to see what the place was all about so he sent me an address… of an apartment complex,” she said.

“Maybe I was missing something so I asked him, ‘Is it a restaurant? What is this place? I can’t find it online’.

“Three minutes later, he says, ‘Haha no’… with no other information.”

She quickly connected the dots.

‘Is he trying to trick me?’

“So I’m sitting there thinking, no way is this man trying to trick me into his apartment building. But yes… that’s exactly what he was doing,” she said.

Much to her surprise, the man eventually confessed the address was in fact that of his home.

“Haha I thought I did a good job selling it,” the man wrote in his text to Quinn.

“The views are pretty sweet but we can hit a bar if you’d rather that… I’m down for whatever you’re feeling.”

Quinn didn’t see the funny side after uncovering the truth.

But Jake insisted it was never his intention to “trick” her into going to his home.

“I definitely could have phrased it differently but just thought it would be a nice change of pace from the traditional bar scene,” he wrote in the text, adding: “I’m sorry it came off the wrong way.”

Learned his lesson

Quinn never showed up on the date but she praised the man for apologizing to her.

“I feel like he learned his lesson,” she said, laughing.

In the caption of the video, Quinn joked: “Quite literally escaped my own episode of SVU”, referring to the US crime drama TV series Law & Order.

Her video has been viewed more than 745,000 times – with many saying they could see Jake’s “cute” intentions but understood why his “coy” plan backfired.

“Rooftop lounge that’s BYOB was the first red flag,” one wrote.

‘Clever but not for first date’

Another said: “Okay as a third date maybe… but as a first date opener… it’s a no.”

One suggested: “Tone is pretty hard to discern, I kind of see what he was trying to do. But yeah just be straightforward about it.”

Another wrote: “I think he was just balling on a budget and was trying to do a sweet date idea without saying that.”

One added: “To be honest, this is clever but not for a first date.”

Another said while laughing: “I have been so traumatized that I could tell where he was going with that the second I read it. Why do men have the audacity, I’m so sorry.”

While one added: “I got the joke immediately and thought it was funny, but that should have been for like a fourth date, not a first.”
