Married At First Sight star outraged over $27 meal in Auckland

A furious Married At First Sight star has slammed a New Zealand cafe for their “tiny” salad that set him back $27.

Former MAFS contestant Samuel Levi took to Instagram to share a photo of a salad that he was served at an unnamed Auckland restaurant.

The 29-year-old described the “small” meal as a “piece of s**t” and slammed the salad’s $27 NZD [$24 AUD] price tag as “daylight robbery.”

“Paid $27 for this tiny and small piece of s**t salad… blood hell Auckland” he wrote.

“This is damn rough and day light robbery.”

Samuel not to name the restaurant where he got the meal, but instead decided just the general location.

“I won’t tag the place directly, but I’ll put the location of the place below where not to go and visit while in Auckland” he said, followed by an eyeroll and facepalm emoji.

The salad consisted of some greens, cherry tomatoes, avocado, parmesan cheese and some large bits of toasted bread on the side.

With the cost of living soaring in recent months, the price of produced has skyrocketed – causing many restaurants in Australia and New Zealand to adjust their prices.

In New Zealand, the inflation rate from March to June 2022 increased 1.7 per cent, and the inflation rate year on year is 7.3 per cent, compared to 6.9 per cent for the previous quarter.

Earlier this week, honeymooners in Greece were left shocked after getting stuck with an $850 bill for a “quick snack”.

Lindsay Breen and her husband Alex, both 30, were left in shock after being surprised by the outrageous bill at DK Oyster in Mykonos.

The couple, who hail from Toronto, Canada, was exploring the picturesque town when they decided to pop into one of the local restaurants.

“We went to the oyster bar for a bite to eat and a drink,” Lindsay explained.

“They immediately said ‘do you want oysters?’ They were very presumptuous. We said yes and he said ‘a dozen?’ so we said yes because a dozen is a typical order.

“My husband ordered a beer and I asked for a cocktail menu and he came back with the beer but I had to ask again for a cocktail menu and he started rhyming off different kinds of alcohol he had, vodka, gin but I asked for a menu.”

After finishing their snack and “comically large drinks,” the couple was ready to pay and continue with their day.

“When we were ready to leave, I went to the washroom and they had my husband go into a back room to pay which is sketchy,” Lindsay remembered.

“They gave him the bill which was over 400 euros. He was shocked and asked for a breakdown. They had a computer screen that they turned to him and it was all in Greek but we don’t speak Greek.”

Although he was completely shocked by the large bill, Alex paid without any issues after he got a “sketchy vibe” and “didn’t want to get himself in a bad situation.”

“He definitely felt intimidated and he’s the friendliest guy so even if the bill was double he probably would have paid it to avoid any problems,” Lindsay admitted.

“It was pretty crazy. I’m glad in hindsight that we didn’t cause an argument or refuse to pay because it could have ended up worse for us. They know when you’re tourists they take advantage.”

UK woman’s viral TikTok after On The Beach didn’t share flight cancellation

A woman has revealed her horror experience after she turned up to the airport only to find out her flight had been canceled five months earlier.

The British woman who goes by the handle ‘Paris Hilton’ on TikTok explained in a series of viral clips she booked a holiday package through UK-based online travel agent On The Beach in October last year.

It cost a total of $A4500 and included flights, accommodation and transfers.

She and her partner were scheduled to fly out from Bristol Airport at 6am on May 4 to Thessaloniki, Greece on budget airline Jet2.

“All was fine up until the day before the holiday,” she said in a viral clip.

“We booked a hotel for the night at Bristol as we were flying at 6am the following morning and [the airport] is about two hours from us.”

“We arrived at the hotel at 9pm the night before and decided to check in online,” she said.

After struggling to find the flight number online, the woman and her partner decided to go to the airport where she explained the situation to a Jet2 staffer.

However, she was told it “doesn’t exist”.

“[The woman] said they do not fly to Thessaloniki and there is no flight tomorrow at 6am. I am such a nervous flyer as it is, I absolutely hate it, so to hear this gave me the biggest anxiety of my life.”

Paris said the staffer told her the flight was canceled back in December, five months before they were due to fly out.

“We were not told about any of this. We even got an email to fill in a form for our flight two days before,” she claimed.

She also called the Thessaloniki hotel to triple check it was still booked and thankfully she was told they were expecting her and her partner.

The woman said, given the holiday was booked and planned months ago and she had taken the time off work, she and her boyfriend decided to book another flight and go ahead with the trip.

The only other available option was a flight for the same time but from London Gatwick Airport – three hours away from Bristol.

The new flight cost £517 ($A900) plus petrol and parking – “and the hotel went to waste because we didn’t even stay there”.

They arrived at Gatwick Airport at 2.30am, and by the time the pair eventually arrived in Greece they’d had “no sleep for 30 hours”.

“We couldn’t even comprehend we were on a holiday or get excited because we were just not even with it,” she said.

“We spent the whole holiday trying to catch up on sleep.”

The woman emailed On The Beach about the issue and claimed she didn’t receive a response until five weeks later.

“The only excuse they had to give us was that there was an error and apparently they tried to give us a refund but it didn’t go through.”

She shared a screenshot breaking down all the extra expenses involved because of the issue, which included $A260 for parking at Gatwick Airport and $A104 in petrol money for a total of 11 hours of driving.

Overall, the trip cost them almost double the original price.

“All they were willing to give back was £800 ($A1400) which was the difference in the flight and the parking and the transfers,” she said.

“It’s not so much about the money as they offered to give us something back. It’s more the fact we feel completely cheated of this holiday and it [was] nearly ruined.”

She said holidays are meant to be fun and exiting, but for her it was tarnished by her horrible experience, adding that she was expecting more of a sympathetic response from the company.

“I know people who have had great experiences [with the company] but it’s from my experience and what has happened to me.”

She said she understands mistakes happen, but the company had five months to let her know.

“I don’t have the spare cash, my partner did. I would have had to go home and there couldn’t be another week I could have taken this holiday,” she said.

“I want them to take accountability and responsibility. They said it was an error and that’s not good enough.”

In the comments section on her viral TikTok, the company wrote: “You’re right, this sounds like a terrible experience and I can only apologize!”

But the traveler hit back, saying: “An apology isn’t going to cut it.”

“We will be taking this a lot further ’til we feel we have been fully compensated and you won’t do this again to anyone ever.”

She also shared a screenshot of an email she had received from the company apologizing over the matter.

It read: “Thank you for contacting us about your recent holiday. Feedback, whether good or bad, is extremely important to us.

“We also understand that a lot of time and effort goes into the planning of your holiday, so naturally we want everything to run as smoothly as possible for you. Consequently I’m really sorry to note your concerns in relation to On the Beach’s service.

“I understand that due to system error on arrival at the airport the airline had no booking for you. We do apologize that this occurred and I have arranged a refund of the flight costs which is the cost of your original flight plus the difference for you new flight. We are sorry to disappoint you but we would not reimburse you for the hotel you chose at Bristol, nor the carparking at this location.”

Paris said she found the response to be lacking empathy, adding: “I don’t even know how this even happens. I get even more angry each time I look at it!”

She said she still has not received the reimbursement and warned viewers to triple check flights, accommodation and transfers, if they book with online agents.

“I did not want someone to go through the same thing. If this has reached as many people who have booked a holiday through these companies all I can ask you to do is take it in your own hands.

“Ring the airline, make sure that flight is there, ring the hotel make sure you still have a hotel.”

Mykonos restaurant owner hits back at newlyweds who were charged $850 bill

The owner of a restaurant in Greece that has been accused of scamming tourists has finally spoken out.

Dimitrios Kalamaras, owner of DK Oyster in Mykonos, has hit back at tourists’ bad reviews, claiming they’re all influencers trying to score a free meal.

DK Oyster’s TripAdvisor rating is a measly 2.5 stars accumulated from its 1455 ratings. The page is flooded with one-star accounts of people accusing the restaurant of terrible service, aggressive tactics and sneaky outrageous prices, the new york post reports.

the post previously reported a story on a Canadian couple, Lindsay Breen and her husband Alex, both 30, who claimed they were refused menus, pressured into ordering food and surprised with a shocking bill.

“Unfortunately, all of us who work in the hospitality sector have been approached by notorious ‘influencers’ who, instead of making their living by advertising products and services to their audience, they put pressure on certain businesses for exorbitant fees and free meals,” Mr Kalamaras told Kennedy News.

“In DK Oyster we have advertised in the ways we consider suitable for our restaurant and we will not succumb to the influencers who have been attracted to the beautiful island of Mykonos,” he continued.

The restaurant sits on the shores of Mykonos on the Platis Gialos beach, welcoming tourists as they explore the top tourist destination.

The owner described the spot as a “very popular destination” for people that certain influencers would like to mingle with.

But for the Breens, they were just trying to enjoy their honeymoon.

The newlywed couple – who shared the story of their $A850 bill for a beer, an Aperol spritz and a dozen oysters – claimed they were surprised by the charge because they were denied a proper menu, pressured into ordering food and provided a bill in Greek .

Mr Kalamaras denies the accusations.

“This person who is trying to get famous through Instagram posts under the name of Lindsay Breen starts with a lie,” he said of Breen, who works as a recruiter.

“She claims that she ‘repeatedly asked for a cocktail menu,’ and adds that ‘the server didn’t seem to want to provide one’. Despite that, she placed an order.

“An influencer, an experienced well-travelled person who makes a living through their experiences in the world did what most adults in the right mind would not do, ordered drinks and food from a waiter who refused to present a menu,” Mr Kalamaras insisted .

The restaurant owner acknowledged the many bad reviews on TripAdvisor making claims similar to what the Breens made, but claims they are all false.

“This false claim has been used so much against our restaurant by dozens of anonymous users on TripAdvisor, that we decided to place three huge blackboards by the entrance of the restaurant displaying the menu and the prices,” he said.

Despite Mr Kalamaras’ denial of the complaints, DK Oyster was recently fined more than $30,000 for scamming two American tourists, the Greek City Times reported.

“I thought that this way our guests, if the reviews were indeed written by actual customers, would at least have an idea regarding the range of our prices in order to be sure to check the menu thoroughly before ordering,” he said.

Lindsay and Alex claim they quickly glanced at the menu outside DK Oyster and believe the oysters were listed at €9 but later learned that the restaurant priced their menu based on items per 100g.

“So it says calamari is 29 dollars but in fine print, it will say that’s for 100g of calamari so your bill comes up to 300 euros,” she said.

But Mr Kalamaras stands by his restaurant and workers, insisting that cheap clients are ruining the reputation of the spot.

“Every time I received such a complaint, always by anonymous users through TripAdvisor, I consulted with the personnel, reminding that it is crucial for our reputation to be sure that procedures are followed carefully,” he said.

“They always assured me that they abide by the rules.”

Mr Kalamaras suggests that guests carefully browse the menu and prices before ordering.

“I cannot stop every single person entering our premises and explain the significance of such a practice,” he said.

The owner suggests that customers who are “not malevolent” should either leave or request to talk to a manager if denied a menu.

“The manager can help before ordering and consuming, not at the time they are requested to pay the charged amounts,” Mr Kalamaras said, referring to the Breens’ claims that Alex was pressured into paying the high-priced bill.

“Unfortunately, there are people on TripAdvisor, openly encouraging guests to eat, eat and drink whatever they want and then refuse to pay the bills.”

He continued: “I understand that some people may find our prices beyond their budget and I totally respect their opinion even if they do not appreciate the value of our services, cuisine, concept and experience.”

Mr Kalamaras also noted Lindsay’s claims that other local restaurateurs warn tourists about DK Oysters and noted similar claims on TripAdvisor, but he suggests that it cannot be verified and that complainers are copying each other’s grievances.

Mr Kalamaras also said that he replies to some of the TripAdvisor comments to defend the shop and the quality of their service.

“We believe that the value of the offered experience is high and we have no intention to explain why we charge more than a supermarket or a traditional taverna, which can be quite wonderful but is surely a completely different concept than ours,” he said.

American Pie star Jennifer Coolidge’s wild sex confession

Jennifer Coolidge has revealed she’s slept with 200 people due to her infamous role in the 1999 movie american piereports the new york post.

While she’s also known for her role in Legally Blonde and most recently in white lotusthe 60-year-old told Variety that american pie brought her more satisfaction than just fame.

“I got a lot of play at being a MILF and I got a lot of sexual action from ‘American Pie,’” she said. “There were so many benefits to doing that movie. I mean, there would be like 200 people that I would never have slept with.”

While she’s played similar characters since “Stifler’s Mum,” her role as Tanya McQuoid in white lotus has earned her a first Emmy nomination and a fast pass to the second season as the only main character who got the part sans audition.

“Some jobs, I’m sort of going, ‘Wow, this isn’t worth working for.’ Mike [White] wrote, I was staying up late every night,” Coolidge admitted, referring to the white lotus creator who convinced her to be a part of the series.

In fact, the actress revealed she nearly talked herself out of playing the part. Now, she’s gearing up for its sophomore season, which airs in October 2022.

“I have done one thing really right in my life,” she said. “I’ve picked great friends. If Mike was never successful, and we just did ‘White Lotus’ as a play in a little theater where everyone paid 10 bucks to see it, it would still be one of the greatest things that ever happened to me. Because it was a killer job that no one else thought I could do.”

The HBO series is shot entirely in a single location — the first season being set in Hawaii, and the second set in Italy — due to the uncertainty of the pandemic. Coolidge’s character of her, so it seemed, was written perfectly for her.

“Whenever I’m lying in bed thinking about what I want to make Jennifer do, I know it’s something that she would not want to do,” White dished, nodding to the actress’ willingness to do just about anything on set. “One minute, she seems fragile, like it’s all going to fall apart, and the next minute she’s sturdy and doing hilarious riffs. Just when you think all hope is lost, she knocks it out of the park.”

White’s chance on Coolidge brought her out of her “obtuse” reputation and entered her into the role of “den mother” — and her remodelled image has bought her more opportunity despite her decades in the business.

“Maybe I got this special attention because people saw me as Stifler’s mum or the Legally Blonde woman. So if they see something else…” she said, which proved to be true.

“People that I could never get in the door — all of a sudden they’re asking me to be part of their things.”

Selena Gomez celebrates ‘real stomach’ in TikTok video

Only “real stomachs” in the building.

Selena Gomez took to TikTok today to say “real stomachs” are back in style while vacationing in Italy.

In the video that’s already racked up more than 4.6 million views, the swimsuit-clad star lounged on a yacht while dubbing over an audio telling her to “suck it in”, the new york post reports.

The Rare Beauty founder, 30, lip-synched back, “I’m not sucking sh*t in. Real stomachs is coming the f**k back, OK?”

As she filmed the video, she ran her hands over her La’Mariette tie-dye swimsuit. The one-piece is part of the swimwear collection she designed back in 2021 with her friend and former assistant, Theresa Mingus.

Fans were quick to praise the Only Murders in the Building star for promoting body-positive messages to her 42 million TikTok followers.

“You make me feel comfortable in my own skin” one fan commented.

“You’re probably the best role model tbh, ily Selena,” another chimed in.

Meanwhile, another user added, “BODY POSITIVITY! SO REFRESHING!

After being off the internet for four years, Gomez has used her social media to spread awareness on topics such as mental health and body image.

Back in April, the former Disney Channel star called out body shamers on the app, saying that being “skinny” wasn’t worth missing out on her favorite foods because “people b**ch about it [her weight] de todas formas”.

She went on to say, “B**ch, I am perfect the way I am.”

But despite opening up about some subjects, she believes other topics are off-limits, including her dating life.

Just last month, her nana almost revealed details about the singer’s latest love problems in yet another TikTok video.

While filming a makeup tutorial, her grandma asked her off-camera, “So, how did you end it with that guy?” A shocked Gomez froze before responding, “Uh… I’ll tell you in a second.”

Ever since her 2018 split from Justin Bieber, she has remained quiet about her love life.

Google Street View captures bikini woman’s wild pose

Google Maps is no stranger to odd discoveries on Street View but rarely do we get two in one shot.

Eagle-eyed explorers couldn’t believe what they saw when virtually nosing around the island of Majorca in Spain.

If you look closely you will spot a woman in a bikini performing a jaw-dropping move off the Cala Na Clara beach, which is along the east coast of the holiday island, The Sun reports.

The skilled beachgoer appears to be balancing on her head while on a surfboard in the water.

But if you thought that was wild, look again, as she’s not the only one on a surfboard.

Google Maps users also noticed that a dog is out on one as well.

“Wait a minute is that a dog on a surfboard in the distance?” one user said on Reddit.

The canine looks pretty chilled in the distance as his owners splash in the water.

As for the woman, it turns out she’s actually practicing paddleboard yoga.

“I was like, is that woman doing a headstand on a paddleboard in the crystalline waters off the coast of Spain?” one observer said.

“I’ve never been more jealous of a stranger, lol!”

British TV star, best known for her work on game show countdown, Carol Vorderman is among the big names to have tried the sport.

Last year, the 61-year-old showed off her youthful figure and flexibility by doing yoga on a paddleboard.

“Someone dared me to ‘yoga’… this is the best I could do… ‘downward dog’… rubbish,” she captioned an Insta photo showing off her moves.

Daniel Ricciardo return to Renault, Otmar Szafnauer, 2023 contracts

Alpine team principal Otmar Szafnauer has left the door open for a Daniel Ricciardo to return with uncertainty surrounding his future, and that of Oscar Piastri.

Having lost Fernando Alonso to Aston Martin for 2023, Alpine announced that Australia’s Piastri would take the Spaniard’s spot next year.

But in a major bombshell to shake the F1 paddock, Piastri denied on social media that a deal had been made, and emphatically declared: “I will not be driving for Alpine next year.”

That has sent the rumor mill into overdrive about whether Piastri has a deal secured elsewhere already — possibly at McLaren to replace the struggling Daniel Ricciardo.

Ricciardo has a third year to run on his McLaren contract but has been under pressure, while Piastri’s manager, Mark Webber, is understood to have aggressively lobbied the team to snap up Piastri prior to Alonso’s shock departure.

Should a McLaren move materialize for Piastri, it would leave Ricciardo without a seat for 2023.

One option for Ricciardo could be an awkward return to Alpine (formerly Renault), who was disappointed in 2020 by quitting after just two seasons.

Nonetheless, the team has since undergone a change of management, while Szafnauer sees no reason why Ricciardo can’t be a potential option.

Szafnauer confirmed to motorsport.com.au that the team has already fielded numerous calls from other drivers.

Asked about the possibility of Ricciardo returning, he pointed to the example of Alonso, whose F1 career has included two stints at McLaren, and three at Alpine-Renault.

“I mean, if you look at Fernando, for example, he comes and goes, and I think that happens to other drivers too,” he told the publication.

“And I don’t think that’s an issue at all. I think what we need to focus on is, like I say, the plans that we have for the next 89-88 races.

“We’ve got to make sure that we complement that plan with the best driver that we can, and there are some options out there for us. And we put the best driver in next to Esteban [Ocon]so that we can move forward towards what we’ve been planning.”

Nonetheless, Alpine hopes to hold onto Piastri, saying: “We believe we are legally correct in our statement (about his signing).”

Szafnauer told the publication — albeit before Piastri’s statement — that there is no reason a healthy working partnership can’t be maintained with the Australian should the team get its wish.

Canadian honeymooners’ fury over $850 ‘snack’ receipt in Mykonos

A newlywed couple was outraged to learn they were stuck with an AU$850 bill after being pressured to enjoy “a quick snack” while on their honeymoon.

The restaurant worker continued to give Lindsay a hard time about bringing out a menu.

“I didn’t know how it was so difficult to see what they had,” she said.

The server eventually brought the couple “what they consider their cocktail menu” which was simply “a laminated piece of paper with the types of alcohol listed but it didn’t have the brand or the drinks” listed.

Lindsay finally gave in and ordered an Aperol spritz “because they clearly didn’t have a menu that they wanted to give me”.

“He finally came back with comically large drinks so we were thinking it’s their funny thing that the bar does because we didn’t ask for an extra-large cocktail,” she remembered.

“He was very much lurking around the table the whole time. He was always around,” she said of the aggressive restaurant worker.

“When we’d finished the oysters, he was trying to get us to have crab legs and thank goodness we didn’t. He said ‘You know what would go really nice with these oysters? Crab legs. Shall I get some over for you guys?’ and we said no, we just wanted a quick snack and a drink.”

The new bride remembered that Alex claimed to see a menu on his way back from the bathroom listing oysters for US$29 but Lindsay couldn’t believe it.

“We had already eaten the oysters so we thought, ‘Oh God, what are we getting ourselves into with this bill?’” she said.

But worse was yet to come.

“The guy came back with a huge trolley of desserts and he says, ‘So, of course, we’re having cake today’ and starts putting different desserts on our table and we said we didn’t want them and he started getting offended that we didn’t want to take them so I can see how people would be pressured to take more.

“As we kept refusing what he was trying to give us he was getting more frustrated.”

The couple was in disbelief as they walked away from the overpriced beach club.

“It’s so crazy to pay that for a snack,” Lindsay insisted. “We were really shocked, especially because we’d had some really nice meals in Italy and we’re willing to spend when it’s justified but we didn’t get much.”

Despite the shock, the couple is just glad they were able to foot the bill and charge the rest of their large expenses on their credit card.

“I can imagine how someone would end up with no money. It’s not an ideal way to spend our money but we’re fortunate we could pay,” she said.

“On holidays, we like to stumble in wherever looks good. we don’t really research but we’ll probably start. They have a similar atmosphere to the other restaurants to blend in and make people think it’ll be at a similar price.

Lindsay did concede that it was “less busy than the other restaurants”.

“They all had their menus posted outside which is typical for that type of area. They were all similar price points, obviously a little bit expensive but fair for what you were getting.”

She and Alex quickly glanced at the menu outside DK Oyster in Mykonos and believe the oysters were listed at nine euros but later learned that the restaurant priced their menu based on items per 100g.

“So it says calamari is 29 dollars but in fine print, it will say that’s for 100g of calamari so your bill comes up to 300 euros,” she said. “I’m so happy we didn’t go there hungry and order a proper lunch.”

The Breens aren’t the first couple to be scammed by this oceanfront restaurant in Greece.

“Next door, a store owner said he was so sorry to hear that we went,” Lindsay said.

“He said he warns everyone that goes into the store to stay away from there and it doesn’t represent who the Greek people are.”

DK Oyster’s TripAdvisor rating is a measly 2.5 stars accumulated from their 1455 ratings. The page is flooded with 1-star accounts of experiences similar to the Breens’.

“DO NOT GO HERE! Absolutely disgusting behavior from manager and staff. Cocktails are awful and charged €125 plus service for 2! Waiters made us feel very uncomfortable,” one review reads.

“Wish we looked at the reviews before! This place is a joke! 350 euros for 4 drinks! I would definitely NOT recommend going here. Please save your euros!” another reads.

But the staff at the tourist trap do not seem to be very apologetic and often mock their guests who leave bad reviews.

“Thank you for taking the time to post your review, but could you please clarify the exact reason for your disappointment? The prices you mention sound correct, so I would like to understand what the problem was,” a reply reads.

“The drinks were not what you expected, the setting or the service? Your opinion is important to us. So, we would appreciate it if you would take a few minutes to clarify.”

They also mocked customers who claimed to be intimidated into paying the exorbitant prices: “Let me see if I got it right: You were abducted from the beach and shoved by force into a luxury restaurant.”

After all the commotion the restaurant has cooked up, they were recently fined more than $30,000 for scamming two American tourists, the Greek City Times reported.

This serves as a lesson to those who look at the menu and think ‘It’s all Greek to me’ – double check the prices before you sit down!

England wins women’s Euro 2022, Leah Williamson handball, Germany, video, latest, highlights

England won a major women’s tournament for the first time as Chloe Kelly’s extra-time goal secured a 2-1 victory over Germany at a sold out Wembley on Sunday.

In front of a record crowd of 87,192 for any match in the history of the European Championships, Kelly prodded home a loose ball from close range to end English football’s 56-year wait for a World Cup or Euro victory.

England looked set for victory in the 90 minutes when substitute Ella Toone’s sublime chip over Merle Frohms put the hosts in front.

Germany showed remarkable resilience to bounce back as Lina Magull leveled 11 minutes from time.

But for once, England were not to be denied a major tournament success. Kelly fought back from an anterior cruciate ligament tear to be fit in time for the tournament and made herself a national hero by being in the right place to pounce when Germany failed to clear a corner in the 110th minute.

The Manchester City winger tore her shirt off in celebration in scenes reminiscent of Mia Hamm’s famous reaction to scoring the winning penalty for the USA at the 1999 World Cup.

Fortune did not favor Germany, who lost captain and top goalscorer Alexandra Popp to a muscle injury in the warm-up.

Lionesses captain Leah Williamson escaped after the ball hit her hand in a goalmouth scramble with the score still at 0-0.

After a VAR check, Ukrainian referee Kateryna Monzul was not told to review her initial decision not to give a penalty.

“On this level at the end of the European Championships this shouldn’t happen,” said Voss-Tecklenburg.

“I’d like to have a discussion why did not one look at it? This is something I would really like to ask. It happened to us today, but if it had happened to them I would feel the same. It really bothers me.”

Germany suffered a major blow even before kick-off when captain and top goalscorer Alexandra Popp was forced to pull out in the warm-up due to a muscle injury.

Voss-Tecklenburg said the Wolfsburg striker, who had scored six goals in five games in the tournament, had suffered the injury in training on Saturday.

“We tried everything. Yesterday at the end of final training there were some problems, which we didn’t expect,” she added.

“This morning it looked a bit better but it was clear the decision had to be hers. I trusted her 1000 percent and today she said she couldn’t run or shoot properly.

“I have even higher respect to her to say that after such a special tournament, she won’t play a final. She is a great personality.”

German newspaper Bild called the final “another Wembley fraud”. England’s only previous major tournament win in either the men’s or women’s game came in the 1966 World Cup with a 4-2 win over West Germany that is still remembered for the Three Lions’ controversial third goal that may not have crossed the line.

EPL transfer news; Cristiano Ronaldo future at Manchester United, Tino Vermer Chelsea, news, updates

Cristiano Ronaldo could be heading for an ugly exit from Manchester United, after the striker sensationally left Old Trafford during a pre-season match last weekend.

Playing his first preseason match after missing the tour to Thailand and Australia, Ronaldo stormed out of the stadium with 10 minutes to play after being subbed off at half-time.

The Portugal international had been visibly frustrated with manager Erik ten Hag earlier in the fixture, while his agent Jorge Mendes reportedly continues to push for a transfer.

Meanwhile, Chelsea forward Timo Werner could complete an incredible move to a fierce London rival as two Premier League clubs enter the race for his services.

Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva is also on the cusp of a massive transfer to a Spanish powerhouse, but the deal hinges on another star being sold.

Here’s the latest transfer gossip in the latest edition of the Rumor Mill!

RONALDO LEAVES OLD TRAFFORD

Ronaldo donned Manchester United’s famous red jersey for the first time in 12 weeks during the club’s 1-1 draw with Rayo Vallecano on Monday (AEST).

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner played 45 minutes in his highly anticipated return, and later said that he was “happy to be back”.

But manger ten Hag is reportedly disappointed with the 37-year-old after he left Old Trafford before the final whistle.

UK media outlet The Sun have shared pictures of Ronaldo shrugging and covering his face in frustration while his new manager attempted to address him during a water break.

After being subbed off at half-time, Ronaldo then left the stadium with 10 minutes still to play. Photos show the football superstar walking out to a few, if not angry, fans waiting for him.

“It is not a good look to leave early when you have been involved in the squad,” a Manchester United insider told SunSport.

“It is different if you are up in the stands and not involved.

“You would expect someone who has played in the game to be in the changing rooms at the end to listen to the manager’s thoughts.

“Also a lot of people were there to see him and he was not even involved in the clapping of the fans after the final whistle.”

Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes is still hoping to secure a transfer for his disgruntled client.

CHELSEA STRIKER COULD SWAP LONDON BLUE FOR RED

Timo Werner could line up for one of Chelsea’s fiercest rivals this season, with The Blues reportedly willing to part ways with the German international in this transfer window.

The 26-year-old, who joined Chelsea for $83m (AEDT) in 2020, has failed to fire at the level that was expected of him when he signed at Stamford Bridge, having scored just 10 Premier League goals in 56 games.

But Werner could be handed a Premier League lifeline with London rivals Arsenal, who are interested in acquiring his services.

Mikel Arteta has already welcomed former Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus in this transfer window, as they continue to bolster their attack.

Newcastle United are also interested in signing Werner on loan, but his hefty wage is potential issue in regards to that deal.

The Sunhave also said that European powerhouses Juventus and Real Madrid are also interested in Werner.

SILVA ON THE BRINK OF BARCA DEAL

Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva is close to a massive deal with Barcelona, as the Spanish giants continue to rebuild towards their former glory.

But Silva will only be able to complete the move if Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong agrees to leave the club.

De Jong has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United throughout this transfer window, although he appears intent on staying at the Camp Nou.

Barcelona manager Xavi has revealed that he doesn’t know whether de Jong will remain at the club or not.

“I don’t know if he’s going to stay here,” Xavi said.

“I’ve never sent Frenkie a message. There’s still time and a lot of things can still happen.

“The fact that he played as a central defender in the other games was not a sign that he was leaving.”

FIRM TO STAY AT LIVERPOOL

Football insider Fabrizio Romano has shared some major transfer news for Liverpool fans, as a Champions League winner confirms his intention to remain at the club.

Forward Roberto Firmino has said that he loves “this team, city and fans”, amidst speculation about his future with The Reds.

“I love this team, city and fans,” Firmino told TNT Brazil.

“I’m here at Liverpool and I want to stay.”

DEFEND TO JOIN THE BLUES

Brighton left-back Marc Cucurella has been heavily linked with a transfer to English champions Manchester City, but a deal with Chelsea appears to be more likely.

Cucurella may be wearing a darker shade of blue this season as the London club entering talks with the defender.

City have refused to increase their bid which has seen them fall out of the race for his signature – for now.
