Olivia Newton-John’s first husband, Matt Lattanzi, married their former babysitter

Late entertainment icon Olivia Newton-John once spoke of her desire to keep her marriage to John Easterling private, but before the couple’s fairytale romance came to be, the actress’ tumultuous love life was often plastered across the headlines.

Newton-John, who died on Tuesday at 73 after a long battle with cancer, her husband of 14 years and daughter Chloe Lattanzi by her side, had once gushed about how lucky she was to find the “the love of her life” at 59 .

It came after the mysterious disappearance of her ex-partner of nine years, and divorce from her first husband, Matt Lattanzi, Chloe’s father, which ended with him dating and then marrying the couple’s former babysitter Cindy Jessup — a detail many believed to have shattered Newton-John.

But the actress insisted it never bothered her – and today Jessup paid loving tribute to Newton-John in an interview with the Daily Mail.

‘The world has lost a true angel. Olivia cared so deeply about people and the planet. She was such a force for goodness, always helping others,” Jessup told the outlet.

Inside Olivia Newton-John’s first marriage

The chemistry was instant when Newton-John and Lattanzi first met on the set of 1980 musical film Xanaduwhere Lattanzi, then 20, was hired as a dancer and Newton-John, then 31, was starring as Greek muse Kira.

Four years later they wed, welcoming their daughter, Chloe Rose, in January 1986.

Tragedy struck in 1992 when the couple faced Newton-John’s first cancer battle together, with the star’s neece Tottie Goldsmith revealing he was “so supportive” of her.

However, just three years later, in 1995, the couple announced their divorce.

They managed to stay friends, despite Lattanzi, who was 40 at the time, moving on with the family’s babysitter Cindy Jessup, then 23, two years after they split.

The couple had hired Jessup in 1993 to help look after Chloe while Lattanzi was working on Aussie soap Paradise Beachand she quickly became part of the family.

A friend told reporters at the time of Jessup and Lattanzi’s 1997 wedding that Newton-John was “delighted” they had struck up a romance.

“It looks bad, because Cindy would often babysit his daughter and she was a friend of his and Olivia’s – but in those days there was no romance.”

Olivia blamed her cancer diagnosis for split

Newton-John later attributed the marriage breakdown partly to her cancer diagnosis.

While she admitted going through a divorce was “painful”, true to form, she held no ill will against Lattanzi for his marriage to Jessup.

“I think our marriage would have eventually come to an end, but it happened sooner because of the cancer, which was a good thing” she told the Daily Mail.

“It was very painful, but we were never at odds with each other.

“What happened between us was between us, and we wouldn’t allow it to affect (Chloe).”

She added: “Divorce is never all right. Everybody wants the happy ending and the white picket fence, particularly me.”

It seems that wish finally came true when Newton-John met natural-health businessman John Easterling, who she described as “the love of her life.”

“I have a wonderful, beautiful husband who is just so loving and fantastic,” she said after their low-key wedding in 2008.

“I always tell my friends you’re never too old to find love. I found the love of my life at 59 going on 60! I’m grateful.”

Matt Lattanzi went on to marry again

As for Lattanzi, it was not to last with Jessup, with the couple splitting after 10 years of marriage in 2007.

He married once more, and now runs a medicinal cannabis farm with third wife Michelle Lattanzi, who is currently in remission from colon cancer first diagnosed in 2014.

It seems the exes’ values aligned later in life, given Newton-John was passionate about ensuring medicinal marijuana was more widely available for cancer patients to manage pain.

Paying tribute to her husband’s ex-wife on Facebook on Tuesday, Michelle Lattanzi said the world had lost an icon.

“Today we lost one of the world’s greats Olivia Newton-John,” she posted on behalf of the couple.

“Matt and I are so overwhelmed with the love and gratitude shared with us by friends, family and a deeply loving community of fans who will all miss Olivia’s presence in this world.

“I have heard truly lovely stories and memories from people near and far, and honor in each of you where those feelings and memories come from.

“Nothing will replace the icon we lost, yet her legacy is alive and well in our hearts and memories, as well as her contributions to our global culture, her beloved daughter Chloe Lattanzi, and her cancer research and wellness center in Melbourne.

“Please honor your sadness, and then celebrate the joy that Olivia’s heart and lifetime achievements endowed in our world.

“Sending all kinds of love.”

The Block star Sharon Johal smokes after fellow contestant Jenny nabs tradie

A slab of Vodka Cruisers has caused chaos on The Block, after one team managed to bribe a tradesman to get ahead on bathroom week.

Faced with the fear of not finishing on time, glamorous former neighbors actress Sharon, from House 3, was furious to hear her appointment for underfloor heating installation was bumped by another contestant.

It turns out it was nabbed by House 4’s apprentice Chippy Jenny, who used the age-old bribery tactic to coax the installers into attending their house first.

Moaning about the sneaky move to fellow contestant Rachel, Sharon was heard calling the unknown culprit “some d*ckheads” while waiting for a coffee at McCafe.

“Have you guys got your underfloor heating booked in?” Rachel had asked.

“Ours was supposed to be first but some d*ckheads cut the line and now we’re like second or third… D*ckheads as in our friends on the show, other contestants,” Sharon fumed.

“I don’t know how they do that, I called every day and I’m like ‘Are you sure we’re first? Are you sure we’re first’ … And all of a sudden they’re at someone else’s house,” she added, concluding that while she “loves everybody” on the show “there was a process in order”.

Elsewhere, Jenny was busy bragging about her one-up on the other teams.

“Last night I called the underfloor heating guy and just said ‘what can I do for you so you can come earlier?’ and he said ‘you can buy me some cruisers’,” she laughed as the camera panned over a slab of the popular vodka drink.

While Sharon wasn’t impressed by the dirty gameplay, House 1’s Sarah-Jane gave Jenny credit for the move.

“Jenny is good. She bribed them, she bribed them with a slab of cruisers to come first at 6 o’clock,” the mother-of-one told producers.

“I respect the hustle… I was like ‘touche b*tch, touche’… I’ll be on the cruisers next week,” she said.

It comes as the teams battle it out for the biggest prize ever on The Blockwith the bathroom week winner to be awarded a bonus $250,000 kitchen upgrade on top of the $10,000 cash.

The rooms and winners will be revealed on Sunday night’s episode, airing from 7.30pm on Channel 9.

The Block: Elle Ferguson and Joel Patfull leave show amid claims it wasn’t ‘on brand’

The Block’s first scandal of the season has finally aired, with influencer Elle Ferguson and her AFL star beau Joel Patfull bailing on the show without so much as a goodbye on Monday night’s episode.

It comes after weeks of headlines surrounding their shock exit, which host Scott Cam has slammed as “p*ss poor” and “unAustralian” in interviews ahead of the season.

Despite reports the couple left the competition to be with Patfull’s mother after a nasty fall, it appears the duo bowed out of the challenge because it wasn’t “on brand”, with Cam telling fellow competitors they’d complained that the toilet paper was “too scratchy”.

Ahead of the shock revelation, Patfull and Ferguson’s first room challenge copped some negative criticism from judges Shaynna Blaze, Neale Whitaker and Darren Palmer, who commented that it was “too Bondi” for the country setting.

“They have smashed the life out of this home… and that breaks my heart,” Blaze said of the room’s lack of character features.

Whitaker agreed: “If they stick with this look throughout the old part of the house and the modern part of the house, it’s going to get very stale and very samey, very quickly.”

He recommended the pair “amp up the heritage, and “have respect for the original bones” in the coming weeks.

But rather than take heed of the advice, the glamorous pair left without a word, leaving the house they’d been assigned in a state of disarray.

On hearing of their departure the next morning, Scotty was in disbelief.

“They just don’t feel like it’s … right for them to do The Block,” executive producer Julian Cress told him.

“Why would you leave after two days?” Cam marveled.

Breaking the news to the remaining contestants, he said: “Last night, if you might remember in the studio, I gave you guys an out … an opportunity, if you thought you couldn’t cut it on the show, you could leave if you wanted to, you could pull the pin.

“I obviously said that tongue in cheek because I didn’t think anyone would drop an opportunity like this, but I’ve just found out that Joel and Elle are on their way to the airport. They have left the show,” he explained to gasps from the cast.

“Why didn’t they even say goodbye?” asked Jenny from House 4.

“They didn’t say goodbye… They didn’t say thanks for having us… They just left,” Cam said, elaborating that they didn’t suggest they were leaving because of a family emergency.

“Well, everything’s fine, apparently, for some reason, The Block isn’t ‘on brand’ for them … And they also said that the toilet paper was too scratchy,” he told the shocked contestants who admitted they had all taken to “weeing in the backyard” amid the competition.

Meanwhile, Sarah-Jane, from winning House 1, declared she had predicted the couple weren’t Block material.

“I saw that coming… They didn’t make any effort to get to know us… They looked miserable the whole time… I heard that they were like ‘I can’t wear that, that doesn’t represent us’,” she told the others, adding that they seemed “sour” after coming fourth in the room reveal.

On hearing they were to be replaced imminently, she said: “I’m glad that someone’s getting the opportunity that’s going to appreciate it … Don’t bring them from Bondi.”

Parents-of-three Rachel and Ryan have now shacked up in House 2 instead of Ferguson and Patfull.

The Block Tree Change continues Tuesday night from 7.30pm on Channel 9

The Bachelorette: Producer responds to calls for Schapelle Corby to be the next Bachelorette

Schapelle Corby is officially back on the market.

The convicted drug smuggler-turned-reality TV contestant posted about her newly-single status on Sunday, prompting immediate calls for her to be the next bachelorette, naturally.

Corby, 45, posted a photo of her presumably hand-in-hand with her scribbled-out ex-boyfriend Ben Panangian, with the call to action: “Looking for a New Four Leaf Clover. * ATTENTION *. Help a girl out – Get Tagging”.

The post included Papa Roach song Last Resort to drive her request home.

Responding to the revelation and subsequent bachelorette buzz, Warner Bros. executive producer Ed hinted it’s not off the table.

Speaking to Nova’s Fitzy and Wippa during a surprise call this morning, Ed confirmed there had been no decision made on the next bachelorette yet, prompting Fitzy to make his pitch.

“Schapelle Corby has broken up with Ben over in Bali and looking for love. Now there have been a lot of people suggesting it wouldn’t be great if Channel 10 could find Schapelle Corby Love?” I have suggested.

“I agree… I think a lot of people would tune in,” Ed responded, asking the pair: “Do you think she’d be good on the dates?” to which funnyman Fitzy suggested a final destination.

“And the final decision, her down to two guys, the final decision is in Kuta,” he joked about the popular Aussie tourist spot in Bali, where Corby was infamously arrested with her bodyboard bag in 2004.

Revealing they “hadn’t considered” Corby for the spot, Ed said: “We’ll absolutely put that to Channel 10.”

It wouldn’t be Corby’s first stint on Aussie TV since she was released from prison, having appeared on Channel 7’s SAS Australia in 2020, and Dancing With The Stars in 2021.

Corby spent nine years in Indonesia’s brutal Kerobokan Prison after she was convicted of smuggling 4.2kg of cannabis into the country via a checked-in boogie board bag.

It was at the notoriously rough prison where she met her Indonesian surfer ex Panangian in 2006.

Corby had previously shared they were eager to have a baby together, despite it being virtually impossible for Panagian to settle in Australia due to his criminal record.

The couple caught up overseas in countries that didn’t require visas for entry.

Their first day on set was met with skepticism from one fellow contestant — outspoken mum Sarah-Jane, who was quick to question their inclusion.

The Block: Elle Ferguson and Joel Patfull slammed by Sarah Jane

After months of controversy, Elle Ferguson and Joel Patfull have finally made their reality TV debut on the new season of The Block.

The influencer and her former AFL star partner — who famously quit the Gisborne set of the reality series after just two days — initially appeared ready to take on the challenge during the show’s first episode on Sunday night.

But while the couple were set on convincing block viewers they were there to play, one fellow contestant was instantly suspicious of the pair, and she didn’t mince words.

Revealing she recognized beauty entrepreneur Ferguson “straight away,” team one’s Sarah-Jane fumed to producers: “She’s already famous, she’s got 600,000 followers on Instagram, she’s got sh*tloads of money, why are they here?”

The Victorian mother-of-one, who is competing with her husband Tom, had a lot to say about influencers in a pre-show interview.

“Social influencers… Some I respect obviously,” she began.

“Some make a huge career out of it! Look at your Kim Kardashians and your Rozalia Russians and people like that … Bec Judd! Good on them. But people who just go on shows to (boost their) social media, I don’t have time for that sh*t. Like, don’t waste my time.”

Sarah-Jane wasn’t the only person to make their judgment on the pair known, with host Scott Cam throwing out veiled digs in voiceovers throughout the episode.

In one, I described Ferguson as a “self-confessed global influencer and beauty entrepreneur”, referring elsewhere to the genetically-blessed pair as “Bondi babes”.

It comes after Cam suggested in several interviews that the duo left The Block 48 hours after arriving because they weren’t up to the challenge, not because of Patfull’s mother’s ill-health as was previously reported.

am has been busy sledging the pair for throwing in the towel, calling it “p*ss poor” and “unAustralian”, amid reports the duo flew to Adelaide to car for Patfull’s mother after a nasty fall.

Speaking to news.com.au in the lead up to the Tree Change season premiere on Sunday, Cam revealed the couple upped sticks in the middle of the night with “no explanation”.

“They didn’t give us a reason why they were leaving. They never mentioned anything to us about visiting their sick mother,” Scott said.

During episode one, Ferguson showed some signs of finding the competition difficult, though no more than the other teams.

“I’m not gonna lie… it was a little intimidating,” she said on walking into the building site of House Three.

“It was a demolition site, and when I say demolition site, you couldn’t see the ground.”

After night one, the influencer told producers: “I did think someone was going to come and maybe sey here’s a heater… but no… it was fresh.”

Promos for the next episode see Cam expressing his shock at the couple’s abrupt exit.

Friends close to Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson have confirmed the couple have gone their separate ways after several months of dating.

Comedian Davidson, 28, and reality television royalty Kardashian, 41, have reportedly decided to be friends, according to a source who spoke exclusively to AND! News.

“They have a lot of love and respect for each other,” the insider said, “but found that the long distance and their demanding schedules made it really difficult to maintain a relationship.”

Davidson is currently in Australia while filming an upcoming comedy flick in Cairns, with Kardashian recently popping over for a visit.

It comes after the former Saturday night Live star said marriage and children were “100 per cent” in his outlook in an interview with actor Kevin Hart.

During the podcast chat, Davidson spoke about how becoming a father would be “his favorite thing ever.”

“(I’m) definitely a family guy,” Hart told. “My favorite thing ever, which I’m yet to achieve, is I want to have a kid. It’s like my dream. It would be so fun to dress up a little dude.”

“…A few days later, I called the producer at SNL and was like, ‘Hey, do you have Pete’s number?’ And they were like, ‘Yeah,’” she said.

“I text him. I wasn’t even thinking like, ‘Oh my God, I’m gonna be in a relationship with him.’ I was just thinking, ‘Heard about this BDE , I need to get out there, I need to jumpstart my …’”

Kardashian added, “I was just basically DTF (down to f**k).”

Nova’s Ryan “Fitzy” Fitzgerald, Michael “Wippa” Wipfli and Sarah McGilvray aren’t immune from brutal celebrity snubs.

For Wippa, it was spotting Remember The Titans star Denzel Washington in a restaurant overseas that led to his humiliation.

“We were at a restaurant overseas one time and Denzel Washington turned up to the restaurant,” he recalled.

“I started to make my way over to Denzel Washington to get a photo (and) the guy who ran the restaurant was like the middle man, so he jumped in between us and I’m going ‘Denzel! Photo?’

“So he jumps in, looks at Denzel and Denzel shakes his head as if to say no, the guy then looks at me and says no,” he said, adding: “It was so cold, and in front of everybody I just had to wander back to my seat.”

His story prompted Sarah and Fitzy to chime in with a similar fail involving Oscar-winner Leonardo DiCaprio, who they’d spotted out one night at LA’s Roosevelt Hotel when they were visiting the city.

“You’d had a few drinks, Sare, and I dared you to go over and (ask for a photo),” Fitzy began.

“He had his hat down, he had a cigarette in his mouth … the hand went up, ‘I don’t do photos’, and Sarah just turned around and came back,” he recalled, with Sarah joking that people should “be friendly at 3am”.

“And then I tried to get the sneaky (photo) on the side anyway and security got my phone,” Sarah added.

The radio stars don’t always strike out with celebrities, however, having formed a close friendship with British superstar Ed Sheeran.

the shape of you hit maker even sent Fitzy and Wippa personalized gifts earlier this year; giant matching marble penises painted green and gold.

Sheeran, 31, had made good on a promise from a recent interview in which he spoke about the similar phallic statuette he gave Elton John for his 74th birthday, offering to send one to the Nova hosts, too.

It turns out he wasn’t bluffing, with the two bestowed with their very own Aussie-themed versions.

“It’s a giant d**k in a box!” Wippa gleefully exclaimed as his co-host removed the stone appendage from its packaging on air in June, teasing, “It looks a bit like you!” as Fitzy struggled with its size.

Elon Musk’s dad Errol Musk gives savage Kyle and Jackie O interview

Elon Musk’s 76-year-old father has given a stunning interview to Australian radio, taking aim at his tech billionaire son and opening up about his controversial relationship with his 34-year-old stepdaughter.

South Africa-born and based Errol Musk, who has seven children including two with his stepdaughter from a second marriage, Jana, spoke with KIIS FM’s Kyle and Jackie O this morning in a bizarre 20-minute interview, in which he dismissed his son’s success .

“Your offspring is a genius. He’s worth so much money and has created so many things, you can’t take that away from him. Are you proud? Jackie O asked.

“Nope. You know, we are a family that have been doing a lot of things for a long time, it’s not as if we suddenly started doing something,” Errol replied.

Elon is his eldest son with his ex-wife, model Maye Musk, who joined the Tesla CEO at the Met Gala this year. Maye and Errol also share are Kimbal and daughter Tosca.

Errol said his billionaire son feels as though he is running behind schedule in his career achievements. The father agreed with that sentiment.

“He is frustrated with progress and it’s understandable,” he said.

“I know it sounds crazy, but we tend to think like that as a family. He’s 50 now and I still think of him as a little boy. But he’s 50, I mean he’s an old man.

He went on to sledge his son’s body and diet while discussing recent shirtless photos of Elon on a yacht in Greece.

“Elon is very strongly built but he’s been eating badly,” he said, adding that he’s recommended a supplement called garcinia cambogia, which supposedly aids weight loss without additional exercise or dieting, to his son.

Jackie O then asked if the South African engineer drove a Tesla, to which he replied he instead drove a Bentley, Rolls Royce and Mercedes. He then told the hosts it was Elon’s younger brother Kimbal who was his “pride and joy” about him.

Asked about marrying his 34-year-old stepdaughter Jana Bezuidenhout – who he had raised since she was four and now shares two young children with – Errol said the relationship was “completely normal”.

Last month, the 76-year-old revealed he had had a daughter with Ms Bezuidenhout in 2019, a year after they had their first child, Elliot Rush, now aged five. The children do not live with their biological father, with Errol telling The Sun they “get on their nerves” when they visit.

He refused to rule out having even more children, however, saying: “The only thing we are on Earth for is to reproduce.”

According to The SunElon finds his dad’s relationship with Jana “creepy”.

Recently, it emerged Elon welcomed twins last November with a senior executive at one of his companies, 36-year-old Shivon Zilis.

The twins were born just a few weeks before Musk had a second child via surrogate with his on-off girlfriend, Canadian pop star Grimes.

The father-of-nine also has five children with his first wife, Canadian author Justine Musk.
