Ace Call of Duty Season 4 comes to a close, it’s time to start looking ahead to the next major update. Season 5 will launch soon, and it’s presumably the last major season before Modern Warfare II comes out in October. But when will Season 5 launch, what can you expect from it, and will Verdansk make one last appearance before war zone 2.0 released? Here’s what you need to know about Call of Duty Season 5.
When is the Call of Duty Season 5 release window?
While Activision has yet to confirm the release date for the forthcoming season, the in-game war zone Battle Pass counts down to August 24, 2022, at Noon Eastern. This is when you should expect Season 5 to launch, though it’s possible this will shift by a day or so.
Season 5 will likely go live on or around August 24, 2022.Activision
August 24 is on a Wednesday, which is typically when seasonal updates go live in war zone. Keep in mind, that seasonal updates are often released at Midnight in vanguard, usually, 12 hours before they come to war zone.
Is there a Call of Duty Season 5 trailer?
There isn’t a trailer just yet, but if Activision plans to release one, you should expect it to be available a couple of days before the season begins. For instance, Season 4’s trailer was published on June 20 — just two days ahead of the season’s launch on June 22.
What are the Call of Duty Season 5 updates?
Expect new weapons, balancing changes, and other features during Season 5.Activision
Since Activision hasn’t made any official announcements pertaining to Season 5, it’s unclear what it will include. We’ll likely get a new batch of weapons, balancing changes, in-game events, and hopefully some new gameplay mechanics to keep things fresh.
One thing we’re curious about is how the upcoming season will play out ahead of Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0’s launch. Presumably, Season 5 will be the last one before Modern Warfare II comes out on October 28, so it’ll be interesting to see how things tie together.
Will this be the original Warzone’s final season? How will it lead to the start of Modern Warfare II and war zone 2.0? We hope those questions are answered in a few weeks.
What is the war zone Season 5 Verdansk status?
Players want Verdansk back during Season 5.Activision
As we approach Warzone 2.0’s release later in 2022, it’s likely the original war zone is nearing the end of its life cycle. With this in mind, players have expressed interest in seeing Verdansk — the game’s original map — added to war zone one last time before the sequel comes out. The demand for Verdansk’s return was so high that it began trending on Twitter earlier this month.
Caldera, the current map, hasn’t resonated with the community, so it’s easy to see why the demand for Verdansk’s return is so high.
But will this happen? It’s unlikely.
Typically, seasonal content is planned out three to four months in advance, so unless Activision started working on this in May 2022, you shouldn’t expect to see Verdansk make an appearance during war zone Season 5.
However, this doesn’t mean the map is gone for good. It’s highly likely it’ll be featured in some capacity later on — possibly in war zone 2.0 as a limited-time mode.
The Inklings and Octolings are at it again, or at least they will be from 9 September 2022 with the ink-splattering turf war style multiplayer action game set to launch exclusively on the Nintendo Switch from this date. To mark this impending release, Nintendo hosted a dedicated Nintendo Direct livestream focusing on the game, sharing new information on what fans can look forward to, a special free-to-play demo opportunity, confirmation of post-launch ‘large-scale’ DLC and more.
While I encourage you to watch the whole 32-minute presentation in the header above, you can also read a summary of all announcements made by scrolling down!
Splatoon 3: Splatfest World Premiere Demo: Available to download from the Nintendo eShop on 18 August 2022, with some parts to be available from 25 August, the first Splatoon 3 Splatfest will take place from 27 August 2022 – encouraging all Nintendo Switch Online members to join Team Paper, Team Scissors or Team Rock. This is a time limited event though, with the main tri-colour Splatfest starting at 9.00am (PT) and concluding at 9.00pm (PT)
Return of the Mammalians: The completely new Story Mode is ideal for getting the hang of battles and weapons, while setting out on an adventure to discover the secrets of Alterna, the Fuzzy Ooze, and how it connects to the title’s theme. As Agent 3, the latest recruit of the New Squidbeak Splatoon, players will battle with the Octarian Army, whose members are covered in hair for some reason. Along with their Smallfry buddy, players can explore many stages, each one full of twists and turns.
Improved Turf War Gameplay: Naturally, in a place called Splatsville, Turf War is the locals’ favorite pastime. Two teams of four compete to ink the most turf on the map within three minutes. New techniques have been introduced, like the Squid Surge where players can swim up walls in a single burst, and the Squid Roll, which makes it possible to jump out of ink while turning around. When the players’ character glows while executing the move, it also repels ink from opponents.
Salmon Run: The Salmon Run mode returns, which allows up to four players to work together and collect Power Eggs from the Salmonids advancing on them. Now, Salmon Run can be played at any time! Players will encounter ferocious creatures called Boss Salmonids, including the new Slammin’ Lid and the Big Shot. Plus, watch out for Cohozuna, a new King Salmonid super-giant Salmonid! When battling a King Salmonid, the tank on players’ backs will transform into an Egg Cannon. Collect the Golden Eggs and deal massive damage to the King Salmonid and give it the boot! Plus, Big Runs are coming in the future… an event when Salmonids invade the city in which Inklings and Octolings live!
New and Returning Battle Stages: Turf War battles will play out across a variety of exotic locations. There are stages specific to the Splatlands like Eeltail Alley, Scorch Gorge, Mincemeat Metalworks and Undertow Spillway. There’s also the new Hagglefish Market, a pier filled to the brim with vibrant street vendors. Several stages from Greater Inkopolis also make a return, such as Museum d’Alfonsino, Hammerhead Bridge and Mahi-Mahi Resort. A total of 12 stages await at launch, including the ones shown off in the presentation. More stages will be added in free post-launch updates.
The Deep Cut Trio: Deep Cut is a popular trio who hosts the Splatsville news program Anarchy Splatcast. They provide information on battle stages currently available, as well as other news bulletins. For the first time in the series, these updates can even be read on the go while exploring Splatsville!
Splatfests Return: In these online events, players vote for their favorite choice out of three in an announced theme. The team they represent is based on that choice, and the winner is decided via battles over a set period of time. Splatfests will consist of two halves. In the first half, the three teams will compete in 4-v-4 Turf War battles. The second half includes the new Tricolor Turf War battles, a mode where three teams fight at the same time. Can the first-place team defend themselves in this unique 4-v-2-v-2 match type?
Table Turf Battle: The Tableturf Battle Dojo in Splatsville’s vacant lot is the home of Tableturf Battle, a new mode in Splatoon 3. In this 1-v-1 competitive card battle spinoff of Turf War, players can ink different shapes with different cards, charge up power, then unleash it all at once with a special comeback attack. There are over 150 cards to collect.
The Splatlands’ Main Weapons: New Splatlands-specific weapons have been added in Splatoon 3. The bow-like Tri-Stringer can fire in three directions simultaneously and unleash charged shots that briefly freeze before exploding. The Splatana Wiper sends blades of ink flying with the centrifugal force generated by swinging it. If swung after charging up, it’ll transform into a charged slash. Plus, all main weapon types from previous splatoon games will be available in Splatoon 3 from the start.
New Special Weapons: There are special kinds of weapons that can be unleashed after inking enough turf, and Splatoon 3 brings some new and unique special weapons. These include the Tacticooler – when it’s activated, a fridge appears with stat-boosting beverages for the team. There’s also the Wave Breaker that unleashes sonic waves around the area. And the Reefslider is a shark-shaped, ink-propelled float which charges forward creating an ink explosion on opponents. Some familiar special weapons from the splatoon series, like the Tenta Missiles, Inkjet, Ink Storm, Ultra Stamp and Booyah Bomb, will make their return. Special weapons are paired with main weapons, so players can find the combo that suits their splatting style.
Battle Modes: In Anarchy Battles, players compete for rankings in objective-based battles. There are four separate modes, which are on rotation: Splat Zones, Tower Control, Rainmaker and Clam Blitz. Wanna take on a challenge alone? Select Anarchy Battle (Series). But if players want to team up with friends, joining Anarchy Battle (Open) is the way to go.
Lobby Features: The Splatsville lobby is host to a number of features. Online friends appear as 3D holograms. In battle, it’s easy to join as an ally or drop in as an opponent. And by forming a team and playing, players can see what friends are up to at any given moment. The lobby also includes a Memory Player, which can replay recent battles.
Customizing With the Catalog: When battles start, Splashtags appear. These can be customized with a title, background and badge. Additionally, the emote a character performs when winning a battle can be customized. All of these and more can be obtained via the in-game catalog, which will be available at Hotlantis, a general store on the edge of Splatsville. Players can exchange points earned from battles for various items, like seasonal gear and ability chunks. After the catalog’s initial launch, updates will be released every three months for two years.
SplatNet 3 Connected: SplatNet 3 is an online service for Splatoon 3 within the Nintendo Switch Online app that can be used with a smart device. It contains features like checking battle records, ordering special in-game gear from the SplatNet Gear Shop and much more. A new feature is Crusty Sean’s Wandercrust. It’s possible to support Crusty Sean’s journey using Inked Points earned during battles. SplatNet 3 will be available at launch.
New amiibo Inkoming:New Splatoon 3 amiibo figures are arriving this holiday, including separate amiibo figures for Inkling (Yellow), Octoling (Blue) and Smallfry which will be available at select retailers for a suggested price of $15.99 each. Scanning the amiibo in-game will allow players to save their favorite gear combinations as Fresh Fits to easily swap outfits. Additionally, the amiibo come with exclusive gear, and it’s possible to snap in-game photos together with them. Plus, some Splatoon 2 amiibo figures will be relaunching soon: Both the Callie & Marie 2-Pack and the Pearl & Marina 2-Pack will be restocked at select retailers at a suggested price of $24.99 each.
Post-Launch Updates: After the game launches, a free in-game season catalog will be distributed every three months for two years. Additional weapons will also be added around the same time as each in-game catalog. In addition, X Battle and League Battle are planned for future updates. X Battle is unlocked after attaining an extremely high rank in Anarchy Battle. In League Battle, players can compete every two hours in teams based on their Anarchy Battle results. Large-scale paid DLC is also planned for the future. More details will be shared at a later date.
Graphics card prices have declined since the beginning of the crash in crypto mining. While it could be attributed to price drops and availability, add-in-board (AIB) companies are still left with large overstocks of existing Ampere “GeForce RTX 30” GPUs in inventory. NVIDIA is now rumored to be assisting its AIB sellers in moving leftover NVIDIA Ampere quantities to make room for the next-gen RTX 40 lineup, reports Moore’s Law is Dead.
NVIDIA reportedly assisting AIBs in efficiently removing overstock of RTX 30 series to make room for RTX 40 series GPUs
According to Tom, NVIDIA made significant steps to find a resolution for the overstocked supply of the company’s RTX 30 series cards in partner’s stocks. The YouTuber explains in the video below how NVIDIA plans to help its partners further.
In the video, Tom states, “NVIDIA has directly stepped in to help AIBs clear their reserve stockpiles of GA 102 in exchange for big pre-purchases of Enthusiast Lovelace.” The YouTuber observed this information from his insiders in the field. He continues to state that even with NVIDIA’s assistance, several months will pass before any company can clear their premium GA102 (RTX 3080 and RTX 3090 GPUs) inventory. AIBs will be left “on their own” to take care of graphics card stocks consisting of low-end and mid-range GPUs, such as the RTX 3060 Ti and the RTX 3070.
The company’s overstock plans to assist AIBs to appear successful, with one of the sources commenting, “The channel is already starting to run dry of RTX 3090s, and the RTX 3090 Ti is starting to show signs of depleting stock as well.”
AMD and NVIDIA are expected to aggressively act towards the end of August if there are still large enough quantities to show concern. It is suggested that graphics card prices will continue to drop past the end of this month and are expected to grow again in September. NVIDIA may lower the costs even more, but AMD is anticipating leaving the market to keep pricing regular.
AMD and NVIDIA will release the next-gen graphics cards over the next several months, which may hurt the marketplace. One thing is sure: right now is the best time to begin shopping around for a replacement or upgradeable option for a newer graphics card for your personal or business systems.
What does the future of construction look like? Autonomous machines buzzing around a building site? Giant 3D printers extruding walls and floors? Looking forward even farther, researchers at the Public University of Navarre in Spain have been experimenting with using sound waves to make building materials simply float into position without any physical interaction required.
Although still apart from many fantasy flicks and magicians’ routines, levitation is no longer just an illusion. Researchers have been experimenting with using ultrasonic sound waves—well past the threshold of human hearing—to make objects float for quite a few years now. Sound waves generated by ultrasonic transducers have now lifted everything from two-inch styrofoam balls to a grid of tiny particles. Even irregularly-shaped objects have been made to float, but to date the technology has seen limited real-world applications.
Researchers from the Public University of Navarre’s UpnaLab and the University of São Paulo, in Brazil, propose the use of acoustic levitation as a way to complement the rapid additive manufacturing techniques many industries now rely on, from amateur hardware hackers to aerospace engineers. The team created an acoustic levitator that can generate acoustic fields capable of trapping and holding elongated objects like sticks and other materials, and then attached it to a robot arm that allows these objects to be accurately positioned and assembled onto a larger structure without any physical contact .
Even more impressive is that the levitator isn’t limited to just manipulating solid objects. It can also pick up liquids and even materials like glues or resins, which are then used to bond components together. In a video demonstrating its capabilities, the levitator applies drops of an adhesive to a simple matchstick structure, which can be instantly hardened with a quick blast of ultraviolet light.
In its current form, the researchers’ machine can’t be used to construct a building. Its lifting capabilities are still limited to small, lightweight objects like wooden matchsticks. But that doesn’t mean it’s useless until it can be scaled up to handle larger projects.
Building the incredibly small or detailed components that go into electronics or other devices often comes with its own challenges, including developing machines that can safely handle small and extremely fragile parts. That’s where this acoustical manipulator could be immediately useful. And because there’s no physical contact made with the material being handled, acoustic levitation could be particularly useful for handling hot materials that pose a risk of damage through physical contact, or even bio-materials, as the sound waves pose no risk of cross-contamination .
The researchers even demonstrated situations where their acoustic levitator can move and reposition parts behind barriers or inside existing structures: something impossible for 3D printers and very tricky for physical manipulators, depending on where a part needs to end up.
You can read more about LeviPrint in the researchers’ recently-published paper, which was presented at the Siggraph 2022 conference which just recently wrapped up in Vancouver, British Columbia.
SpaceX founder Elon Musk has made no secret of his plans to send humans to Mars by 2050. The tech titan has talked about his dream to make a human colony on the Red planet. In his latest post, Musk envisioned the day when a rocket successfully lands on the Martian surface. The billionaire shared a picture of a spacecraft and caption it, “This will be Mars one day.”
The rocket in the picture is SpaceX’s Starship project–a reusable rocket system on which the company is currently working at.
Last month, the SpaceX CEO wrote, “Mars may be a fixer-upper of a planet, but it has great potential.”
Mars may be a fixer upper of a planet, but it has great potential!
A Twitter user asked Musk about the estimated timeframe for human civilization on Marsh. Musk responded by saying, “20 to 30 years from first human landing if launch rate growth is exponential.”

Yesterday, Elon Musk’s SpaceX won certification from the Pentagon’s Space Force to use recyclable boosters on its Falcon Heavy rocket to launch top-secret spy satellites.
The certification for SpaceX — which was issued in June but not previously disclosed — allows the recyclable first-stage side boosters to be used in sensitive national security launches requiring power performance beyond that of the company’s original Falcon 9. The Space Force found that the “recovery, refurbishment, and launch of SpaceX boosters utilizes well-established processes,” the service said in a statement.
The first classified National Security Space Launch mission using a Falcon Heavy with refurbished boosters is scheduled for sometime from October to December, according to the Space Force. It’s a mission to launch a satellite for the National Reconnaissance Office, which develops and manages spy satellites, according to a previous Space Force statement.
SpaceX has launched more than 100 missions using the Falcon 9 with reusable boosters, most of them commercial.
The reuse of previously flown boosters on Falcon 9 missions has “saved the US Space Force more than $64 million for GPS III missions and avoided additional costs for requirements changes while adding manifest flexibility for both the launch provider and our warfighters,” Walter Lauderdale, chief of the Falcon Division within the Space Systems Command’s “Assured Access to Space” organization, said in a statement.

Just lately, Microsoft introduced the overall availability (GA) of its Azure Fluid Relay service. This managed cloud providing allows internet builders to make use of the Fluid Framework to construct enterprise-grade collaborative purposes.
Azure Fuel Relay service is constructed on WebSockets, a full duplex communication channel powered by trendy internet browsers. Introduced at Microsoft’s Construct developer convention in 2019, the innovation in Fluid Framework is that it helps distributed and synchronized shared state – thus simplifying the creation of a collaborative utility. At present, the one supported language for the Fluid Framework is TypeScript or JavaScript.
Builders can set up and run their purposes with Azure Fluid Relay by offering the Azure Fluid Relay service of their Azure account and configuring the Azure-client SDK package deal to attach their purposes to the Azure Fluid Relay occasion.
azure consumer package deal azureclient class that allows builders to work together with Fluid. The category comprises the logic for connecting the Fluid container to the service. Additionally, builders have to replace their app’s configuration to connect with the Azure service with the proper configuration values.
import { AzureClient, AzureConnectionConfig } from "@fluidframework/azure-client";
const clientProps = {
connection: {
sort: "distant",
tenantId: "YOUR-TENANT-ID-HERE",
tokenProvider: new AzureFunctionTokenProvider(
"AZURE-FUNCTION-URL"+"/api/GetAzureToken",
{ userId: "test-user",userName: "Take a look at Person" }
),
endpoint: "ENTER-SERVICE-DISCOVERY-URL-HERE",
},
};
const azureClient = new AzureClient(clientProps);
Note that Microsoft additionally affords WebSocket-based companies with Azure Net PubSub, a totally managed service that helps native and serverless WebSockets, and Azure SignalR, which permits builders so as to add real-time internet performance for purposes. Second, it’s not designed to summarize distributed state in the identical manner as Azure Fluid Relay. Additionally, with Azure Net PubSub just like SignalR, builders can carry their very own WebSocket libraries with out consumer or protocol necessities.
In a Microsoft Developer weblog publish, Mathangi Chakrapani and Pranshu Playingeach senior product advertising executives at Microsoft wrote:
The service allows builders to construct and deploy enterprise-ready collaboration purposes that carry out at industry-leading pace and scale. Azure Fluid Migration takes care of all the small print of Fluid collaboration, whereas as builders focus your consideration in your utility and finish consumer expertise.
At present, Azure Fluid Migration service is on the market in roughly 10 Azure areas, half of that are within the US, on a pay-as-you-go foundation. Extra particulars on pricing can be found on the pricing web page. As well as, builders can discover extra data and steerage via the documentation touchdown web page.
Hello, hello, hello, welcome back to another installation of Baby’s First Switch! As you would (hopefully) know by now, I am selecting different games to play on my Nintendo Switch each month which includes me asking all of you for advice. This month’s game I need your beginner’s tips for is none other than the iconic Legends of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
Yes, that’s right. I’ve finally caved and decided to play what I know will challenge me more than any other Switch game I’ve played so far.
The reason for my initial hesitation is that I’m not great with logic. Like, at there. My brain doesn’t think rationally and when too many things are happening I get overwhelmed. Basically, I have the same logic skillset as a 4th grader, actually they might be smarter than me.
I also struggle immensely with puzzles that require ANY form of maths, reasoning or science. This is why I’m a writer.
So, for this Baby’s First Switch, I need you all more than ever, and your beginner’s tips even more so. Por favor, help me get along with Breath of the Wild. I cannot have this purchase linger over me for the rest of my life knowing I couldn’t finish it because of how many time’s I’ll most likely cry over a puzzle I can’t figure out. Or how many times I keep dying in battle, or in the fields, or by those purple lava-looking things.
We did a community review way back when and you all had lots of thoughts, feelings and emotions about Breath of the Wild. So now, give me that same energy with your beginner’s tips.
the Legends of Zelda: Breath of the Wildbeginner’s tips I need from you
Image: Nintendo/Zelda. Captioning by Kotaku Australia
I already know this is a hard game filled with puzzles my small, smooth brain cannot figure out so you best believe I need every single one of the tips and tricks you might possibly have for a simple beginner like me.
And if you don’t give me any of your beginner’s tips for Breath of the Wild I will simply cease to function. I will be stuck, frozen in time, glued to this keyboard I currently type from.
It will, not to be dramatic or anything, break my heart.
Look, I know I’m getting desperate here. I don’t want to say I’ve been ghosted by you all, Kotaku Australia community, but I’m starting to have doubts about our relationship. Is it me? Am I the villain? Why haven’t you responded to our texts? (By texts I mean comment section. It’s literally right below this article and you can jot down all the things you wish to say, we all know how much you love that. It’s free too!)
Anyways, the last time I asked for beginner’s tips the only person who came to my rescue was Louie. Even after my threats of sending our Ruby’s goblins! I hope you are all enjoying being covered in slime by them.
This time, I won’t be threatening you for tips. I will just be disappointed. Not mad, disappointed.
Yeah, try living with that.
If you want to give me some other gaming suggestions or tips, give me a shout on Twitter (@kystewart_) or chuck us an email.
This 17-in-1 Docking Station from Baseus offers plenty of ports and connectivity to turn to USB-C … [+] laptop into a desktop workhorse.
Baseus
If you’re looking for an affordable docking station for a Windows or Mac computer, this 17-in-1 model from Baseus could fit the bill. It has 16 ports, all fed from a single USB-C cable that attaches to the host computer. In addition, three HDMI ports can send different content to each display when used with a PC. There are also three USB 3.0, a couple of USB 2.0 and two USB Type-C ports.

In addition, the docking station will work with USB-C laptops, including Google Chromebook Pixel, Google Pixelbook Pen, Dell XPS13/15, G3/G5/G7, HP Pavilion X2, Lenovo, MacBook Pro/Air and more; compatible with “DP Alt Mode” of Samsung Galaxy S10/S10 Plus, S9/S9 Plus and S8/S8 Plus.
At the heart of the docking station, there’s a VL817 chip that ensures all 17 ports function correctly. There’s also protection against overcurrent, overvoltage and overheating. In addition, the dock has a one-year warranty and lifetime technical support.
Verdict: This is a competent docking station for anyone who wants to extend the functionality of a USB-C laptop or a regular desktop. It will work with Windows or macOS computers, but its video capabilities are limited on Macs to mirroring the main display. The Baseus 17-in-1 Docking Station is a neat little device with a stand for vertical use, saving valuable desktop real estate.
