Home and Away teases dramatic new stories before short Oz break

Home and Away spoilers follow.

Australian viewers really are without a soap fix this week, as not only has neighbors finished for good, but Home and Away is off screens too.

Thankfully for Summer Bay fans, the break for Home and Away is a short one, and the show will return to Australian screens next Monday (August 8) – and it looks like it will be bringing some serious drama with it when it returns.

A new trailer released on the official Instagram page for the soap teases what’s coming up when the show returns on August 8, and ominously teases that “a friend will fall.”

And not only that, but we are also told that promises will be broken, lines will be crossed, and mistakes will be made – we did say it was bringing the drama.

When the show aired its last episode before its mini-break, things looked dicey for both Tane and Rose when they made it their mission to bring down Tex and his biker gang.

Tex and his gang are out for revenge after a botched armed robbery from years ago left them feeling like they were owed money from Ari.

But while viewers hoped they would be able to bring Tex down, the sound of a gunshot in the promo indicates that their plan may be doomed to fail…

The upcoming break for Home and Away down under, which is due to the airing of the Commonwealth Games, does mean that Channel 5 will close the gap a little as it will not pause transmission – so UK fans will not have to wait quite as long to see what the latest drama is inSummer Bay.

Karl, Jasmine Stefanovic seen on-board James Packer’s yacht in south of France

Karl Stefanovic and his wife Jasmine are the latest big names to be spotted on-board James Packer’s luxury yacht in the south of France.

The 54-year-old Australian billionaire welcomed the Today co-host, 47, his shoe designer wife, 38, and their two-year-old daughter Harper for a day out on the $283 million boat in newly-emerged photos taken last week.

Former Australian cricket captain Michael Clarke, 41, also joined in on the fun, and was spotted with his rumored girlfriend, Jasmine’s younger sister Jade Yarbrough, 30.

The pair were understood to have been introduced by Stefanovic earlier this year, according to a report in The Daily Telegraph in July.

Earlier today Yarbrough, who runs an interior design company, uploaded an Instagram story with a photo of herself and Clarke strolling the streets of the French Riviera.

Meanwhile, Stefanovic is currently enjoying some time off-air, with co-host Allison Langdon being joined on the Channel 9 breakfast show by Nine reporter Charles Croucher.

Packer has been making headlines amid his lengthy stint overseas, which has seen him host a slew of big names on his yacht including actor and business partner Robert De Niro.

He’s also recently opened up about his new-found health kick which has seen him lose 33kg, telling The Weekend Australian in June that he was ready to start the “third act” of his life as he looks towards a return to Australia following a controversial period for Crown Casino.

“I’m roughly 130kg now and want to be back to 100kg by the end of 2022,” Packer told the publication.

Packer admitted that it “hasn’t been appropriate” to be in Australia amid years of scandals at Crown Casino – which he previously owned a major stake of – including staff getting jailed in China, and several inquiries which found the casino operator enabled money laundering and links to criminal gangs.

With the $8.9 billion sale of his company shares to US private equity firm Blackstone’s finalized on June 24, which saw Packer pocket an enormous $3.36 billion, he’s now ready to plan his return home.

“I want to swim with my kids at Bondi when we’re all in Sydney together next year and be 100kg,” he added.

On the love front, Packer has regularly been joined on his yacht by Danish model Josefine Hanning Jensen, who was recently identified by Confidential.

There’s no word yet on whether Packer and Jensen are romantically linked, or whether she will join him when he eventually heads back to Sydney.

Meghan Markle was left struggling on her wedding day after being ‘very rude’ to army officer who refused to help untangle long veil, author Tom Bower claims

The soon-to-be Duchess of Sussex was left struggling on her wedding day after being “very rude” to someone who would have otherwise offered his assistance, an author has claimed.

The world got its first glimpse of Meghan Markle’s Givenchy gown from inside a vintage Rolls-Royce limousine as she traveled from Cliveden House Hotel to Windsor Castle with her mother Doria Ragland on the morning of May 19, 2018.

Created by British designer Clare Waight Keller and featuring an open bateau neckline, the gown was a marvel for its simplicity and elegance.

Meghan’s veil was more than five meters long and made from silk tulle organza.

Its length proved tricky for her as she attempted to exit the car and walk up the steps to St George’s Chapel.

Author Tom Bower says the bride had “problems” with the veil and train but was ignored by a nearby army officer.

“A military man told me an extraordinary story about Meghan when she arrived at the wedding at Windsor Castle on that glorious day in 2018,” Bower tells The Mirror’s Pod Save the Queen podcast.

“You see her get out of the car unaccompanied and she has problems with the train of her dress and the army officer doesn’t step forward to help her.

“And the reason is, is the day before in the rehearsal, she had been very rude to him so he thought ‘well I’m not going to help you today’.

“I didn’t get the story from him but a fellow officer of his, who explained what had happened.”

As she got out of the car Meghan’s veil appeared to have become twisted in the vehicle with an aid and her dress designer quickly coming to assist.

She was then helped up the stairs and into the chapel by her two pageboys who carried the five-metre-long train.

The veil featured a hand-embroidered trim of flowers in silk threads and organza, in the distinctive flora of each of the then-53 Commonwealth countries.

Her veil was held in place by Queen Mary’s diamond bandeau tiaraslow to the bride by the Queen.

The diamond bandeau was made in 1932, with the center brooch dating back to 1893.

Bower’s claim is one of many examples of Meghan’s behavior both before the wedding and after, included in his book Revenge.

He revisits the much-told story about an incident in the lead up to the royal wedding, when Meghan claims Kate made her cry during a bridesmaid dress fitting with Princess Charlotte.

He says it was Meghan who made the Duchess of Cambridge cry and not the other way around, as the Duchess of Sussex told Oprah.

Bower says Kate was tired, having only recently given birth to Prince Louis, and was brought to tears by Meghan following a disagreement about tights and the length of the bridesmaids’ dresses.

Meghan was supported by her friend Jessica Mulroney, the mother of another bridesmaid, Ivy.

“Some would say that the Duchess of Sussex compared Ivy favorably against Charlotte,” Bower writes.

“Others were surprised by Meghan’s close attachment to Mulroney.”

The Project’s Carrie Bickmore and Fifi Box check out of a Sydney hotel after a wild girls’ night out

They enjoyed a wild girls’ night out on Thursday evening in Sydney.

And The Project host Carrie Bickmore, 41, and radio star Fifi Box, 45, were seen checking out of the swanky Kimpton Margot hotel the morning after.

The two women shared a laugh as they rolled their suitcases to a chauffeured car.

Carrie and Fifi were dressed like typical Melburnians, both wearing black outfits.

Carrie looked incredibly chic in a knitted turtleneck sweater with a pair of black skinny jeans and black combat boots worn over the top.

Meanwhile, a hungover Fifi went for a more casual flying attire, wearing a baggy lilac top over a padded jacket.

The Gold Logie winner shared the snap on Instagram along with several others throughout the night, before revealing the next morning Fifi had a hangover.

It comes after Carrie’s recent return to The Project following her ‘family adventure’ in Britain, which some suspected viewers had been cut short.

Many had expected her to be gone for six months or more, and some even suspected she hoped to get a job in the UK, so they were understandably confused when she slipped back into her role on the panel without fanfare on July 11.

Fans of the newsreader had been in the dark about her trip, as she had never indicated a specific return date.

Instead, Bickmore simply said she was ‘going to be taking a few months off’ from April with her partner Chris Walker and their three children, traveling across Europe while being mostly based in London.

‘Chris and I and the kids are heading off on a family adventure together,’ she said at the time.

‘We’ve been wanting to do it for a while but lots of reasons, timing hasn’t been right, but we figure it’s never going to be the perfect time to go.’

‘YOt’s something we really want to do before my son starts his final years at school so we’re doing term two in the UK. So I will be off for a couple of months,’ she added.

As it turned out, returning in ‘a few months’ is precisely what Bickmore did.

Yet during her sabbatical some viewers feared she would never return to the Channel 10 current affairs show, pointing to various ‘clues’ suggesting she was planning a more permanent move.

For example, Bickmore said she had been inspired by fellow Project panelist Kate Langbroek, 56, who spent two years living in Bologna, Italy, with her family.

Furthermore, Bickmore had sold her five-bedroom family home in Melbourne just days before announcing her extended leave.

Some fans speculated this was because she and her family were hoping to buy a place to live in England.

Yet none of these theories came to fruition, as Bickmore returned to The Project on July 11, just three months after jetting abroad.

Chronic Pain: Karra thought her pain was ‘a running injury’. Then it began spreading through her entire body de ella | Exclusive

Karra Eloff was furniture shopping with her husband Johann when a sharp pain in her right hip caused her to collapse.

“I had just finished a half-marathon, so I thought it was related to that,” Eloff, 32, tells 9Honey.

She assumed she’d sustained an injury and started “intensive rehab” to treat it.

“After a number of years, the pain spread to other joints.”

It was 2011 and Eloff was 21.

“We had just returned from living in England. We got married and traveled through Europe and had the most adventurous year,” she explains.

“Then we came back to Australia and I collapsed.”

Despite the physiotherapy, Eloff had trouble sitting and standing for long periods of time.

“We both thought I might just have to go to physio a couple of times,” she recalls.

Instead, as the pain spread over the next few years, doctors began looking into the cause.

Eloff was eventually diagnosed with Spondyloarthritis, a type of arthritis that can affect the spine as well as the joints of the arms and legs.

“It normally takes around five years to diagnose this condition because it is quite tricky,” she explains.

“Then once we realized this was actually a thing, something that was long-term, we had to pivot in our journey as well.”

Her experience of living with chronic pain, and the impact it had on her marriage, prompted her to write the book The Chronic Pain Couple: How to be a joyful partner & have a remarkable relationship in spite of chronic pain.

“We had this remarkable relationship built on adventure and fitness, and as soon as I became unwell everything we had built our relationship on wasn’t possible,” she says.

“Chronic pain impacts the body, but it also started to strip the joy from our relationship as we focused on treatment and my health.”

Eloff went in search of information to help her relationship evolve and improve in spite of her health, however all she could find were suggestions the keep their communication open.

“I wanted specific answers,” she says.

“When my pain is really high, how do I still be an amazing partner? How do I remain a joyful partner when my body isn’t keeping up, if I can’t do the activities we used to do?”

Next, Eloff turned to academic journals and learned all she could about chronic pain, and then she began reading some of the research released by relationship experts.

“Then there was a lot of trial and error in my journey,” she says. “Fatigue was a real concern so I wanted to narrow down what changes I could make that needed little energy but had a big impact on my love life.”

The answer was for Eloff to “strip back” and look intentionally at her day, values and relationship.

“What I loved about running, for example, was nature, health, novelty and the challenge, and I can find those things elsewhere,” she explains.

And having tried many treatments to help reduce her pains, she learned her mental health was just as important when it came to her overall health. She also relies on the support of a pain specialist and healthcare team.

“Pain for me now is kind of like a part-time job,” Eloff says. “I’ve learned what makes my pain go out of control and I have a good grasp on planning my days to inject joy, romance and fun.

“Also a lot of people don’t push for a great healthcare team. There are so many GPs and specialists that care about this area and do have answers.”

Today, Eloff says her relationship is once again “remarkable.” The couple now lives on the Sunshine Coast with their son Josh, who is seven.

Alan Fletcher reveals major career change after Neighbors finale

Neighbors veteran Alan Fletcher is the third longest serving actor in Australian soap opera history, having starred on the iconic soap for almost three decades.

And after the long-running show’s emotional finale last week, which saw viewers say farewell to the residents of Ramsay Street after 37 years on-air, the 65-year-old actor is considering a major career change.

Fletcher, who had played Dr Karl Kennedy since 1994, told Magic Radio’s breakfast-show: “Now that I’ve finished neighborsI’m thinking about actually going into medicine.”

The Perth-born TV star added he had always tried to keep his personal life separate from his on-screen persona, but was now having a change of heart.

“While I’ve been on neighborsI religiously don’t give medical advice, because I’m really worried about the authorities tracking me down,” he joked.

It comes after Fletcher’s co-star Ryan Moloney, who had played Jarrod “Toadie” Rebecchi on the show since 1995, revealed his own big career move away from the small screen.

The 42-year-old actor said he was planning to settle into post-neighbors life as a humble tradition.

“I’m not ruling anything out,” Moloney told The Daily Telegraph. “I’m doing civil construction course which is about driving excavators and building roads.”

Moloney added: “I like playing with those kinds of machines. I like doing earthworks, all that kind of manual labor stuff.

“That’s where I’m at, but who knows where it’s all going to end up?”

After 37 years and 8903 episodes, neighbors finally drew to a close in a tear-jerking finale last week.

The nostalgia-filled episode saw the return of Australia’s brightest names who got their big break on the soap opera, including Kylie Minogue, Guy Pearce, Holly Valance, Natalie Imbruglia, Delta Goodrem, and the show’s most famous alumna, Margot Robbie.

Up to 3 million people tuned into the finale in the UK, while almost 900,000 viewers watched in Australia.

It was announced in March that neighbors was being axed after Australian production company Fremantle media failed to find a new broadcast partner, following UK network Channel 5’s decision to withdraw its partnership.

Channel 5 had been covering the majority of the production bill.

Much to her surprise, the move ended up reinvigorating the company’s interest in her as a job applicant.

‘They sent me another email saying they do, in fact, now want to interview me,’ she said. ‘I can’t believe that worked.’

The video has been viewed more than five million times and has received thousands of comments from delighted viewers.

‘These are the stories that keep me going in life,’ one person wrote, while another added: ‘As a recruiter, if someone felt that to me, I would ABSOLUTELY want an interview.’

TikTok user @swedishswan never shared where she got the idea from, but she was likely inspired by another viral video that took the internet by storm earlier this year.

Samantha Jane, who is known as @samantha_jane on the platform, revealed in March that her sister Hannah, a job recruiter, received the same meme in response to a rejection email.

The bold move didn’t work in this case, but plenty of people thought it was amusing, including Samantha.

The TikTok user has since made her account private, but she described the response being ‘the most Gen Z thing’ she has ever seen, according to The Independent.

‘No context, no other text, just the meme. I love it so much,’ she added.

Manu Feildel opens up about ‘missing’ MKR co-star Pete Evans

Manu Feildel has opened up about his friendship with former My Kitchen Rules co-star Pete Evans, and revealed his feelings about working alongside a new celebrity chef in the upcoming season.

The pair appeared together as judges on the Channel 7 cooking show for 10 years before it was announced in 2020 that the show was being “rested” amid dismal ratings for its eleventh season.

It was also announced at around the same time that Channel 7 and Pete Evans had “parted ways”, after a series of controversial comments and social media posts by the TV personality.

This Sunday, My Kitchen Rules will finally return with Feildel, 48, back in the judges’ seat – but this time, he’s joined by popular British chef Nigella Lawson.

Speaking on news.com.au’s podcast I’ve Got News For YouFeildel was asked if he missed Evans while shooting the new season.

“Of course, Pete and I have known each other for a long time, we’re still good friends today, so yeah – missing that,” he told host Andrew Bucklow.

“At the same token, you know, it was nice to work with someone new and someone different. The show has been on the shelf for a couple of years, so it was exciting to be working with someone else.”

Evans has been embroiled in controversies in recent years, including being slapped with $25,000 in fines in 2020 by the Therapeutic Goods Administration over magical coronavirus eradication properties he claimed about a “BioCharger” device in a Facebook livestream promotion.

Evans, a prominent paleo diet advocate, has also attracted condemnation for a number of other dubious health claims over the years.

In 2021, the outspoken anti-vaxxer was even kicked off Instagram after sharing misinformation and dangerous claims about Covid-19, just months after being banned from Facebook for the same reason.

Meanwhile, during MKR‘s rest period, Feildel appeared in short-lived Seven cooking series Plate of Originbefore it was announced his original show would be returning in 2022.

Ahead of this week’s premiere, the French TV star also revealed on IGNFY a surprising fact about his famous new co-star.

“(Nigella) can’t use chopsticks,” Feildel said.

“I remember sitting at the table. We had just had chopsticks placed next to the plate and she turned around to me and she whispered in my ear, ‘I don’t know how to use chopsticks’. And I thought it was hilarious!”

My Kitchen Rules returns to Seven on Sunday at 7pm.
