Monica Lewinsky calls on Beyonce to make another lyric change which references her infamous affair

Monica Lewinsky wants Beyonce to remove a reference to her from one of her old songs.

The former White House intern —who famously had an affair with then-President Bill Clinton, with the scandal leading to his impeachment in 1998 — suggested the singer should change the lyrics to her 2013 hit Partition after the 40-year-old star pledged to remove an ableist slur from her new song Heated.

Tweeting an article from Variety about the change to a new song, Lewinsky wrote: “’uhmm, while we’re at it…. #Partition (sic)“

The song in question features the lyrics: “Now my mascara running, red lipstick smudged/Oh, me so horny, yeah, he want to f**k/He popped all my buttons, and he ripped my blouse/He Monica Lewinsky- ed all on my gown.”

This isn’t the first time Lewinsky has objected to the words of the song.

She said back in 2014: “Thanks, Beyoncé, but if we’re verbing, I think you meant ‘Bill Clinton’d all on my gown’, not ‘Monica Lewinsky’d.”

The former intern’s comments came after Beyonce pledged to change the lyrics to Heated, which was co-written with Drake and features the line: “Spazzing on that a**, spaz on that a**.”

Australia’s longest running soap Neighbors ended last week after 37 years.

And Alan Fletcher, who played Dr Karl Kennedy in the show for almost three decades, revealed on Monday he was considering following his character into the world of medicine.

Speaking on Magic Radio’s Breakfast Show the actor said: ‘Now that I’ve finished Neighbours, I’m thinking about actually going into medicine’.

Alan, 65, told hosts Ronan Keating and Harriet Scott that up until now he had done everything to keep his on-screen person separate from his personal life.

He joked: ‘While I’ve been on Neighbours, I religiously don’t give medical advice, because I’m really worried about the authorities tracking me down’.

Speaking about the show’s finale which was watched by over 3M viewers in the UK he said: ‘Well, all I can say to you is that we’ve already had a celebration of a show that people have loved for 37 years’.

‘We want to see tears in the eyes in lounge rooms all over the UK. That’s our objective. … As we’re saying thank you to the audience for being on the journey with us. It’s a great way to finish, I think it’s a beautifully crafted finish. Hopefully people will be happy with it’.

Speaking about his fellow cast mate Margot Robbie, who played Donna Freedman in the show before hitting big in Hollywood, he said: ‘The treat to me is the pinnacle of what Neighbors can achieve in terms of training people and guiding them’.

Before adding: ‘Mind you, when she walked into the studio very early on, both Jackie Woodburne, who plays Susan, literally turned and went okay, she’s the bees knees’.

I gushed: ‘She’s got everything. She can do comedy; she she can do wonderful high drama. Ella Margot is a natural talent that was always destined to go to the top… Ella she’s just marvelous, absolutely marvelous.’

Alan then went on to say that all his fellow actors who returned to the show came back with the feeling of giving back to the show changed their lives in a big way.

‘My greatest experience over the last few weeks was I walked into the canteen and Guy Pearce [who played Mike Young] is sitting there and that guys a big wheel in Hollywood these days. I worked with him about 20 years ago’.

‘And to walk up and just say good day mate, how are you? It’s like it was yesterday. All he had to say was I wanted to come back and do this because I know how many Neighbors have given me, and it’s time to pay it back. And I think that’s the attitude that everybody bought to it. Let’s just honor the show that gave us our start.’

Alan went on to say he would soon be touring the UK in a one man show: ‘I created the Dr. Karl Kennedy in conversation show three years ago. It has been canceled year after year, but finally in September, I am actually touring all over the UK doing that show’.

Before adding: ‘And then again next March we’re doing the Neighbors farewell tour. Which is massive and going to be in every major city, in the biggest venues.

Hours before the finale Australian Alan surprised EastEnders fans as he swapped Ramsay Street for Albert Square in a special farewell clip posted to social media.

As well as clever interaction which saw Alan playing himself in a scene with some cast members of the BBC soap, stars sent heartwarming messages to the cast and crew of the Aussie show.

In the short video, Linda Carter, played by actress Kellie Bright, is sat expressing her sadness over Neighbors coming to an end.

When actor Alan – who recently revealed he has been diagnosed with alopecia areata, an autoimmune disorder that causes hair loss – unexpectedly pops into Bridge Street Cafe looking for a taxi in order to make a ‘swift exit,’ Linda is stunned.

She leaps to her feet and, after confirming that it’s ‘Dr Karl Kennedy’, swiftly asks Whitney Dean, played by Shona McGarty, to take a photograph of her with the Australian soap star.

Beyoncé removes Kelis interpolation from song after Milkshake singer complains | Beyonce

Beyoncé has removed an interpolation of Kelis’ song Milkshake from her new song Energy, days after removing an ableist slur from another song on her latest album Renaissance.

At the end of the original version of Energy, Beyoncé sang a series of “las” to the tune sung by Kelis in the 2003 hit song Milkshake. Even before Beyoncé’s highly anticipated album was officially released on 29 July, Kelis has been outspoken about her displeasure that she was n’t consulted about the decision, calling it an act of “thievery.”

But late on Tuesday, the version found on streaming platforms Tidal and Apple Music had been updated to remove the interpolation. Interpolation involves altering an existing sound, while sampling directly takes part of a song without changing it.

Kelis was not a writer or producer on Milkshake, with Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo, also known as the Neptunes, officially credited as the song’s writers.

Both Williams and Hugo were previously listed as composers on Beyoncé’s song Energy, but appeared to have been removed from the song’s listing on her website early on Wednesday once the track was updated.

In a Guardian interview from 2020, Kelis claimed she was “blatantly lied to and tricked” by the Neptunes and, as a result, “made nothing from sales of her first two albums”. In a Vulture interview earlier this year, Hugo brushed off her comments: “I heard about her sentiment from her toward that from her. I mean, I don’t handle that. I usually hire business folks to help out with that kind of stuff.”

Using Milkshake was a “trigger” for her, Kelis wrote on Instagram after Energy was released, and her comments were reflective of her wider dispute with Williams and Hugo. “It’s beyond this song at this point,” she wrote, adding, “it’s not about me being mad about Beyoncé.”

The Guardian has reached out to Beyoncé’s spokesperson for comment.

This is the second change made to Renaissance after its release on 29 July, with Beyoncé also changing a line in her song Heated to remove a word that is considered ableist.

“The word, not used intentionally in a harmful way, will be replaced,” a representative for the musician said in a statement.

On Tuesday, after the lyrics of Heated were changed, Monica Lewinsky, the activist and former White House intern who had an affair with US president Bill Clinton, tweeted “uhmm, while we’re at it… #partition”. The hashtag referred to Beyoncé’s 2013 song that includes the lyric, “He Monica Lewinsky-ed all on my gown.”

Musician Lizzo removed the same ableist slur from her song Grrrls last month.

Constance Hall debuts new cropped haircut

Mummy blogger and fashion designer Constance Hall has debuted a new look that has left her feeling more “feminine” than ever.

Hall, who is based in Western Australia, has sported her iconic long black locks for many years but recently decided on the spur of the moment it was time for them to go.

Taking to Facebook, she announced her decision before she debuted her new look, revealing her husband and children were against the decision.

“However I am superstitious and I believe that a woman who changes her hair changes her life,” she wrote.

“I’m also the divine feminine and long hair is about as essential to the divine feminine as perky t*ts.

“I have come to accept that I will always regret cutting my hair off but always feel compelled to do it as the years pass and my desire to let go of old energy increases, the hair gets lopped off, the relief comes and sooner or later the regret kicks in with the long road of hair growth ahead and around and around we go.”

Fans nervously waited before Hall showed a photo of her new jawline-length haircut, revealing she felt sexy and fresh again.

Hall’s followers were quick to compliment her on the new look.

One person said: “I have to say when you announced your hair cut yesterday I was a bit invested in how I thought you should look. But wow! The most amazing part of your new style is your smile. Fricken awesome.”

Another said: “Hair weighs you down mentally and emotionally sometimes – it’s good to feel light again.”

A third added: “WOW, your hair looks great on you, you must feel so free, I wish I had the spirit to do this.”

The day after debuting her new look, Hall shared she hadn’t had numbers on her photos like the reveal in a long time.

She added the comments were a far cry from people telling her she “was her hair” and she felt extremely “feminine”.

She also took advantage of the high traffic on her post to encourage people to have a conversation about organ donation.

“Unless someone you love has waited for that life saving call or you have heard someone talk about what they would do with the miracle of life if it happened or you have seen the look on a mother’s face whose last chance for her son has just ran out of time, you probably haven’t ever really considered what lives your organs could go on to save long once you are no longer here,” she said.

“I’m not trying to convince anyone to donate their organs if it goes against their wishes, I’m trying to minimize the amount of wasted organs, buried with a body who could have and would have saved another life if only someone knew their wishes.”

Are ‘Attack On Titan’ Fans Review-Bombing ‘Bluey’ on IMDb?

Credit: Ludo Studio/Funimation

Anime fans are famously ride-or-die, but now lovers of Attack on Titan might have just taken things to a new extreme: review-bombing beloved Australian children’s program bluey over an IMDb rating. Another day at the office.

For context, Daley Pearson, who serves as executive producer on blueytweeted that the 2020 episode “Sleepytime” was the second highest rated episode of television ever on IMDb, with a rating of 10.0 stars. At the time, only breaking bad‘s “Ozymandias” stood ahead of it, accruing a 10.0 rating as well though somehow skewed slightly higher.

However, if you check the same IMDb listing now, things look awful different. “Sleepytime” has descended 15 spots down to #17 and has had its rating fall to 9.9.

In addition, if you check the stats breakdown for how users have voted for the episode (the number of which has increased by almost 700 since the time of the tweet), you can see that there has been an outlying uptake in people giving it one star. With the exception of the 10-star rating, this is now the most popular rating for “Sleepytime.”

bluey attack on titan anime IMDb
Credit: IMDb

But what episodes now sit between the earlier ranking of “Sleepytime” and where it sits now? Seven of them are from various anime — Attack on Titan, code geass, and Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba specifically.

In fact, five of those episodes belong to Attack on Titan, including “Hero” which now sits at #2. That is 25 percent of the top 20 total.

While other series’ like breaking bad, Game of Thrones, and Star Wars: The Clone Wars all rank highly, the sheer presence of Attack on Titan on the list, and that the show was at one point pipped by blueymeans that fans of the anime could have quietly banded together to bring the ranking of “Sleepytime” down as far as it did.

Whether fans of Attack on Titan are actually review-bombing is hard to say, but given the evidence and sudden change in votes, it’s fair to say that something is up.

We’ll see if bluey fans retaliate to bring the episode back to its #2 spot, and given how many people are in Pearson’s replies sharing their love, this possible strange rivalry might be far from over.

Young man’s shock at finding his dad on dating app Grindr

A young man has revealed his shock at finding his married, ‘homophobic’ father on Grindr – years after the older man ‘disowned’ him for coming out as gay.

Speaking to Kyle and Jackie O the man known only as Jacob said he clicked on his dad’s headless profile one day when he was cruising the popular hook-up app.

He didn’t recognize his dad’s torso from the pictured but couldn’t shake the feeling there was something a little too familiar about it.

‘They have one of those ensuites that are through the walk-in closet – I thought that looks sort of like my parents house,’ he said.

‘I clicked through the profile to see if it could be my dad,’ he said.

The young man went on to explain that his parents seem as happy as ever, and have been together for 27 years.

‘I have never seen any signs of a rift between them,’ he said.

So he decided to engage with the profile, to see if it really was his dad, a fake profile or someone with an eerily similar home.

‘I wasn’t flirting with him, I just engaged in normal conversation, told him I liked his picture and asked where he is from,’ he said.

‘Then I asked for a picture of his face – when he felt it through it was my dad,’ he said.

Jacob is now torn over what he should do and says he feels for his mum.

‘I am very open and forward thinking, I don’t care if he is gay I just don’t want him lying to my mum,’ he said.

  • Call his dad live on air! 11 votes

‘So now I am torn, do I tell mum, do I confront my dad,’ he asked the dumbfounded radio hosts.

Jackie O said she would have ‘walked away’ after seeing the familiar bedroom in the background.

‘I want to hear his opinion and get his story,’ Jacob said.

‘I want to know why he has been hiding it from me for so long.’

He also added that his father stopped talking to him for years when he found out he was gay.

‘He was super against it when I was coming out – he hated me – he was super angry and didn’t want anything to do with me in his life,’ he said.

‘The older closed men are often homophobic,’ he added.

Jacob said it took years for him and his father to get back on good terms.

‘I just don’t want this to hurt my mum,’ he said.

He then asked for advice from the shows listeners who all agreed he needed to have a sit down chat with both of his parents.

‘You have to discuss this with both of your parents, they have to be aware,’ one man said.

‘My partner had a similar thing happen, his dad had six kids, was a construction manager and appeared happily married.

‘Your dad will be happier if he can be true to his real identity, and your mum deserves the chance to be happy too,’ he said.

Another said he should speak with his father first – before having a chat with his mum.

The man said he and his dad both have anonymous Grindr profiles - like many users only sharing face pictures after connecting online

A third said his dad did the same thing – but has managed to repair the relationship with his wife while being honest about his sexual identity.

‘I found gay magazines in the back of his car and followed him after work where I found out what he was doing in the evening,’ he said.

‘I spoke to my siblings about it and we realized he had been doing it our whole lives.

‘My parents are still together, we had a sit down chat about it, after all we all need to be able to feel proud about who we are,’ he added.

Jacob was undecided by the end of the segment, but told Kyle he wouldn’t be calling his dad on-air about it.

Jacob also has a headless profile on the app, and says many men choose to keep their faces off the app.

Angourie Rice on Honor Society, breaking the fourth wall and the book she always travels with

Ever since Angourie Rice broke out in The Nice Guys as Ryan Gosling’s onscreen daughter, she’s been destined for big things.

Adept at a pithy retort as well as an emotional moment, Rice’s career has been seen her work with some huge names in front of and behind the camera.

Only 21, the Melbourne actor has already staked her place among Kate Winslet and Jean Smart on The Mare of Easttownnext to Nicole Kidman, Kirsten Dunst and Sofia Coppola in The Beguiled and alongside Miley Cyrus in BlackMirror. She’s also made a mark in ensemble casts, as Betty Brant in Spider-Man: Far From Home and as ingenue Lisa in Ladies in Black.

Honor Society is her first lead role, exactly the challenge Rice was looking for. The teen rom-com features her as Honor, a high-achieving student who decides to take down her academic rivals in the hopes of getting into her dream school, Harvard.

One of those rivals is played by stranger thingsGaten Matarazzo.

On paper, Honor is not a sympathetic character given her scheming, but in Rice’s hands, she’s charming and relatable – and her conspiratorial fourth-wall breaks lets the audience in on her journey.

Rice talked to news.com.au about the challenges of her first lead role, staying grounded on set and how she related to Honor’s instincts to protect herself.

Is it surreal to keep going back to high school? How long do you think you’ll be content to keep playing teenagers?

I graduated [from high school] just over three years ago, so it does feel very fresh in my mind. Also, because I didn’t go to university, [these high school characters] are like the last experience in education that I had.

But there are definitely some really exciting scripts out there that are about young people who aren’t set at high school or college, and I’m excited for more of those for sure.

Are you happy to keep extending that ride for a little big longer?

Honestly, if I’ve learned anything is that as much as I try, I cannot control anything in the film industry. Whatever comes my way, we’ll see.

This character has so many fourth-wall breaks – she’s always speaking to the audience. Was it intimidating to play someone who is so deliberately trying to connect with the audience?

I was nervous to have that much dialogue and to be so switched on in those scenes.

Honor brings the audience in by talking to them, by making them part of her plan. She reels them in. Then the camera and the audience become her conscience of her. She feels judged by them because she’s making some questionable choices.

She reminded me a little bit of election‘s Tracy Flick on that she’s a little intense but not as intense or as unlikeable, even though her plan is some pretty heavy level sabotage of her peers’ future. What were those conversations like the filmmakers in terms of keeping the audience on Honor’s side?

That was important to me. I thought she’s got to be charming and the audience has to want to be part of her plan. Honor should talk to the audience like, ‘let me tell you a little secret and we’ll be a team against everyone else’. What’s exciting about her is that she’s charming, she’s funny and has a sense of humour.

And she’s able to learn and say sorry, to admit it when she’s wrong.

Every role you choose has a different aspect to it. What was new or challenging about Honor Society?

Definitely talking to the camera was a new and exciting challenge for me. Playing a lead – I really wanted to do that. And to map a character’s arc fully. She’s in scene one and scene 100 and every scene in between.

We see her, we see her entire arc and I really wanted to do that. I wanted to show this character change and grow and learn.

What was the experience like of playing the lead? You’re the first person on the call sheet, you’re almost kind of responsible for setting the tone, the energy and the work ethic of everyone beneath you on the call sheet.

It was nerve-racking and very scary. I did feel pressure. But really the thing that made it possible was my sister was there with me the whole time.

She would come to set three or four times a week, and it was great to have her there as an emotional support person.

It really helped to have someone, when you’re so in the world of [a character] and fixated on something, to have someone from home, who’s there reminding you to drink water and to stop talking about yourself, to go home and just watch movies.

For Honor, the book The Handmaid’s Tale is like her bible. I know you have Community Librarya podcast talking about books so what’s your bible that you carry with you?

It’s Pride and Prejudice. I usually travel with a copy just in case I need it. It’s like comfort food to me. I know the story so well, I’ve read it so many times. Every time I dive back in, it’s like coming home. Every time I read it, I find new things to laugh at or new things to learn.

How many times do you think you’ve read it?

Maybe seven or eight times. I read it again right now.

Have you ever pictured yourself playing Lizzie Bennett?

Absolutely! I feel like every Jane Austen fan has. Whenever you read Pride and Prejudiceno one is saying ‘I want to be Mary’.

There’s a line in Honor Society that really struck me. It’s at the beginning and it’s obviously part of where the character starts before she goes on her arc. She says, ‘To survive, I hide within myself’. Is that something you’ve ever done as somebody with a fairly high-profile job and public persona?

Definitely. It’s something that I really related to with the character because she puts up this facade to protect herself from people knowing who she really is, because what if they don’t like her?

I really related to that.

Yes, as a person with a public profile but also as anyone going through high school, anyone who has social media, anyone living a life as a teenager.

That’s what being a teenager is, it’s hiding who you really are because you are so anxious that people aren’t going to like you, and changing who you are to please certain people. That was one of the main things of the movie that really struck me when I first read it.

Honor Society is streaming now on Paramount+

Aquaman star Jason Momoa poses as flight attendant, hands out water to surprised Hawaiian Airlines passengers

If acting doesn’t work out for Aquaman actor Jason Momoa, he could pick up a career as a jet-setting flight attendant.

Lucky passengers on a Hawaiian Airlines flight were witnesses to Momoa’s first day on the job as cabin crew as he handed out bottles of his water, called Mananalu, from a trolly.

A woman named Kylee Yoshikawa, who goes by the username @livinglikekylee on TikTok, posted the clip which has now been viewed by 3.5 million people on the platform.

“My aunty sent me this vid, i just thought i’d share,” she captioned the video which had an instrumental version of Disney’s Under the Sea — very fitting — playing over the footage.

The 43-year-old even dressed the part in a gray suit complete with a pink flower tucked behind his ear.

He has since shared a behind-the-scenes clip on Instagram, introducing himself to passengers as the “water master” on board the flight.

“Mahalo @hawaiianairlines for allowing me and my team to capture this special moment,” he wrote.

“It’s a dream come true. My idea to create @Mananalu.water came to me while on a flight.

“I’m grateful for your support and it’s an honor to have Hawaiian Airlines be the first airline to partner with Mananalu. We’re on a mission to end single-use plastic. Drink one, remove one – For every bottle of Mananalu sold, we remove one plastic bottle from the ocean. We have removed 3 MILLION plastic bottles from the ocean this year. Don’t stop making waves to save our beautiful planet. hello j”
