Irvine: Orange County dermatologist Yue Yu arrested on suspicion of poisoning husband

IRVINE, Calif. — Police have arrested an Orange County woman for an investigation of poisoning her husband.

Police in Irvine say a man reported Thursday that he believed he was being poisoned by his wife of 10 years after he grew ill over the course of a month.

The man had video evidence he also provided to authorities, police said in a statement. He had internal injuries but is expected to recover, the statement said.

Yue Yu, 45, was arrested Thursday after investigators interviewed her and searched the couple’s home, the statement said. She is due to appear in court Monday and is being held on a $30,000 bail, online jail records show.

It was not immediately known whether Yu had an attorney.

Yu is a dermatologist in Orange County and attended medical school at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, according to her office’s website. A message was left seeking comment at the office.

Providence Mission Hospital, where Yu can see patients, said in a statement Friday that the hospital is cooperating with police and the incident was a domestic issue and has not affected patient care.

Orange County shooting kills 2 men, injures another man

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office says three men were shot Saturday afternoon, and one of those men was shot by a deputy. There’s an ongoing investigation at Heritage Hotel on 7900 South Orange Blossom Trail near Sand Lake Road. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office gave an update on the shooting. According to Mark Canty, Orange County Sheriff’s Office undersheriff, they responded to the area Saturday afternoon following calls about a shooting around 12:36 pm Once on the scene, deputies found one man who had been shot. Deputies then encountered a second person, a man who was holding a gun. When he was asked to drop the gun, the man did not comply, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. One of the deputies discharged their firearm, striking the man. Deputies then learned another man had been shot before they arrived on the scene. According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, all three men who’d been shot were transported to the hospital. Canty said the relationship between those three men is still being investigated. Two of the three men who were shot have been pronounced dead. One of the two deceased men was the one who was shot by a deputy and the other man was the victim deputies initially found upon arrival at the scene. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office is not searching for any additional suspects in the shooting at this time. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement will take the lead in the investigation, Canty said at a news conference Saturday. FDLE’s findings will then be given to the State Attorney’s Office, and OCSO will conduct an internal investigation once that process is complete. The deputy who discharged his firearm is on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. Canty said the information and calls from residents helped deputies to respond to the scene quickly. us for help. The hotel where the shooting happened is located near a lot of stores on Orange Blossom Trail. Eliseo Duarte was calmly going about his work organizing carts in the parking lot of the store next door to the hotel, Daily Dealz OBT. All of a sudden he heard over five gunshots. “Pop, pop, pop, pop, pop,” Duarte said. He said he ducked behind a car for cover. “It was really scary. I never heard shots like that close,” Duarte said. Then, he ran inside to get his manager from him Sal Khreiwesh. “I come out here and I’m watching all these cops, like five or six cop cars just come here,” he said. Khreiwesh said he was worried because this shooting happened on a very busy day at the store. “It’s very concerning especially on $10 day. There’s a line, there’s a line at like 9:30, 9:40. People want those $10 deals. So imagine it happened then,” he said. Staff at the store said they are grateful for law enforcement’s quick response. “Police did their job I think and they closed the area. It happened really fast,” Duarte said. Meanwhile, the sheriff’s office commended the public for quickly sounding the alarm. “What’s good about this case is a lot of people called us, and our deputies were able to respond and put themselves between innocent civilians and a bad guy,” Canty said.

Orlando police ID family of 5 killed in murder-suicide at Lake Nona home

ORLANDO, Fla. – Orlando police on Wednesday identified the family of five killed in a murder-suicide inside a Lake Nona home.

Investigators believe the father of the children, Donovan Michael Ramirez, 45, killed his wife — Stephanie Renee Ramirez, 39 — and their children: Alyssa Berumen, 22; Sunny Ramirez, 11; and Shelby Rose Ramirez, 7, before killing himself.

Police said a gun was found at the scene, but the medical examiner will still have to determine the cause of each death.

Officers were called to the home Tuesday afternoon to conduct a well-being check. Police said they found the victims dead inside the home on Lake District Lane, near Moss Park Road and State Road 417.

Neighbors told News 6 the family began renting the house about two months ago.

Police have not said what led to the killings, only calling it an act of domestic violence.
