Elon Musk reignites bitter feud with US politician Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

Elon Musk has said US politician Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) has “great taste in lipstick” in an apparent reignition of his feud with the New York Congresswoman.

The Tesla CEO made the remark on a podcast called full-sendin which several co-hosts made comments about the 32-year-old politician’s appearance.

Two of the co-hosts called AOC “attractive,” then another said the New York Democrat was “all right,” the new york post reports.

Musk then chimed in, saying, “Yeah, great choice of lipstick I think. Great taste in lipstick, I mean, that’s my observation. That’s a genuine compliment.”

Musk then added, “Tell me I’m wrong,” before sipping an alcoholic seltzer and laughing alongside the podcast hosts.

AOC’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Musk’s remarks.

The world’s richest man has a history of sparring with Ms Ocasio-Cortez.

In April, the politician tweeted: “Tired of having to collectively stress about what explosion of hate crimes is happening bc some billionaire with an ego problem unilaterally controls a massive communication platform.”

Musk responded: “Stop hitting on me, I’m really shy.”

Ms Ocasio-Cortez then said that she’d been referring to Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg – not Musk – then deleted the tweet.

She later posted a screenshot of her back-and-forth with Musk with a shrugging emoji and the caption: “Like I said, ego problems.”

Then in May, she said she was looking to ditch her Tesla Model 3, which she bought in 2020 for commutes between her New York City district and Washington DC She said she was looking to buy a car from a company that uses union labor.

“At the time, it was the only EV [electric vehicle] that could get me from New York to Washington on like one, or one-and-a-half charges,” she said of her Tesla. “I would love to switch.”

Musk, meanwhile, posted a Twitter poll asking his followers whether they have more trust in billionaires or politicians.

His followers chose billionaires – and Musk dared Ms Ocasio-Cortez to run the same poll with her own followers.

The Tesla CEO recounted the exchange on last week’s podcast episode, saying that Ms Ocasio-Cortez “was like coming after me or some bulls**t, I don’t know”.

“She was saying billionaires are evil and you’re a billionaire therefore you’re evil,” Musk said. “And I was like, well you’re a politician.

“People in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones,” he added.

“I’m a single child and at 65 I found three brothers, thank you,” he said.

Meanwhile South Korean Kim Joo-hyung fired a stunning nine-under par 61 to win the Wyndham Championship, his first US PGA Tour title, and secure his spot in the season-ending playoffs.

“I can’t believe it — I’m speechless right now,” Kim said, his emotions finally showing after a round in which he looked in supreme control.

“I’ve worked really hard to get to this point,” he said, his voice cracking. “Just walking off that 18th green, just thinking about the behind the scenes work.

The latest traveler to be confronted by another flyer’s feet was Little Mix star Jade Thirlwall – and she was so shocked by what she had witnessed on a flight, she recorded a TikTok and shared it with her 1.9 million TikTok followers to also feel her pain.

“Breathtaking views at 38,000 – feet,” she British singer captioned the video.

Jade filmed herself looking stunned before flipping the phone to show a woman a few rows in front with her leg stretched so high, her foot was touching the overhead locker.

In the two days since she posted it, it has already clocked almost five million views and over 13,000 comments with many grossed out by the act.

“I’d be screaming if I’d seen this,” one person wrote.

“I want to cry,” said another, while a third yelled: “WHY DID SHE START POINTING THEM?”

One user described it as “absolutely foul”.

“People are so wrong on a plane – morals, manners and politeness go out the window.”

Others were more concerned for Jade.

“I hope you are OK after experiencing this Jade,” one person joked, to which the star responded: “A little rattled but I’m OK hun.”

“Imagine you did this in a plane and ended up on Jade Thirlwall’s TikTok,” another said.

A cabin crew member also chimed in saying it is her “greatest fear”.

“’Madam, please may you remove your toes from the ceiling?’” she joked.

Others complimented the woman on her manicured toes while some wished they were “that flexible”.

“I’d be p**sing myself trying not to laugh,” one user added.

Some couldn’t believe the man sitting next to her was completely unfazed.

“The fact the person next to them is talking to them like this is a normal occurrence,” they wrote.

However, as much as the passenger’s foot act was the center of attention, fans also couldn’t help but applaud the singer for sitting in economy, particularly given her popular and successful British band Little Mix has a net worth of £48 million ($ A83 million), according to The Sunday Times Rich List 2020.

“Humble queen not flying private,” one fan commented.

“Imagine being on the same plane as Jade Thirlwall,” another wrote.

It is unclear where Jade was flying to or from, but it comes after she had her phone stolen in Ibiza.

“Shoutout to whoever stole my phone. Not having one for a little while was truly bliss. Anyways, here’s me being a basic b**ch in Ibiza a cutla weeks ago,” she said in an Instagram post alongside a selfie on the party island.

It appears Jade is no stranger to flying on commercial flights.

“I was sat next to her in the airport and didn’t want to bother her for a pic. Regretted it ever since,” one fan wrote.

As for the bare feet, it’s also not the first time something like this has happened.

In May, a passenger was left horrified when another flyer shoved their bare feet onto their seat’s armrest during a flight.

The traveler was flying from Melbourne to Adelaide when the incident occurred

A video shows a person looking at the camera in horror before zooming in on the bare feet poking through from the seat behind and on the armrest.

The passenger then appears to notice they are being filmed and quickly whips their feet back.

Experts have also warned travelers to never be barefoot on a plane.

California-based podiatrist Ebonie Vincent, who is also behind the US TV series, My Feet Are Killing Mesaid that being barefoot leaves travelers exposed to bad bacteria.

Mike Tyson slams Hulu for ‘stealing’ life story: Boxing news 2022

Hulu is one streaming service Mike Tyson almost certainly won’t use.

the new york post reports that in a series of social media statements, the legendary boxer is alleging Hulu stole his life story without compensation and is angry about the upcoming show, Mikethat chronicles his life.

“Don’t let Hulu fool you. I don’t support their story about my life,” the 56-year-old Tyson wrote on Instagram. “It’s not 1822. It’s 2022. They stole my life story and didn’t pay me. To Hulu executives I’m just a (N-word) they can sell on the auction block.”

In a caption on that Instagram post, Tyson wrote: “Hulu is the streaming version of the slave master. They stole my story and didn’t pay me.”

Tyson went over to Twitter and made similar comments, writing that “Hulu’s model of stealing life rights of celebrities is egregiously greedy”. I added: “Hulu stole my story. They’re Goliath and I’m David. Heads will roll for this.”

While it’s not uncommon for biopics to be made without the subject’s approval, Tyson had a similar take when the show was first ordered in February of 2021.

“To make this announcement during Black History Month only confirms Hulu’s concern for dollars over respect for Black story rights,” he said at the time.

“Hollywood needs to be more sensitive to Black experiences especially after all that has transpired in 2020.”

Tyson also tweeted on the weekend in support of UFC president Dana White.

“Hulu tried to desperately pay my brother Dana White millions without offering me a dollar to promote their slave master take over story about my life,” the boxer said.

“I have turned it down because I honor friendship and treating people with dignity. I’ll never forget what he did for me just like I’ll never forget what he Hulu stole from me. ”

Tyson announced in March of 2021 that his “authorized story” was being developed, with Jamie Foxx starring as the boxer and filmmaker Martin Scorsese producing the film.

Executive producers of the upcoming Hulu show, Steven Rogers and Karin Gist, addressed Tyson’s criticism this week, saying they were unable to talk to him because his rights were already taken.

“We just wanted to tell an unbiased story and have the audience decide what they think or feel,” Gist said. “Challenging what people think they know about Mike and hoping that they come away from the series with something else to think about.

“Whether you like him or hate him, does the story make you question how complicit society has been? That was the intention, that was the North Star for the writers’ room as we were crafting stories.”

Rogers added: “I would hope that if he watches it that he would change his opinion.

“For me, as a writer, as a storyteller, I don’t really like to be reliant on just one source. I really like to do the research and get all these different opinions and then put a story around all of that. I don’t like to be holden to just one person.”

Tyson responded to the producers, staying on the attack.

“They say this story is an exploration of a Black man. It’s more like an exploitation of a Black man,” the former heavyweight champion said.

“Hulu thinks their tracks are covered by hiring Black sacrificial lambs to play the part as front men for their backdoor robbery is appalling. I will always remember this blatant disregard of my dignity.”

Australian mum’s travel hate booms into $20m business Luxico

When it comes to holidaying, deciding whether to go with the expected comforts of a hotel or the relaxed amenities of an Airbnb generally comes down to the guest and the mood of the trip.

For mum and businesswoman Alexandra Ormerod, travel has always been high on the priority list – and she had no plans for that to change when she and husband Tom decided to start a family.

But with a little one in tow, the pair soon realized that the simple pleasures they once took for granted in a hotel room were no longer applicable for a young family.

“We have a lot of family overseas… we are avid travelers and after our first daughter was born we quickly discovered in our travels that hotels were dead to us and that came as a bit of a shock,” Ms Ormerod told news.com. ouch

“We soon found it very challenging to be traveling with a small child and finding accommodation that was of a standard better than a serviced apartment.

“We realized quite early on that places like Europe and Asia have a more mature market than Australia, so there are a lot more villas to hire in different locations. Whereas when you came to Australia and you effectively had the option of a holiday home. That home would be hired through a real estate agent and generally you were restricted to a coastal location and picking the keys up from the local fish and chip shop because the office was closed.

Ms Ormerod said the “disconnected experience” and “transactional approach” to hiring holiday homes in Australia meant guests “never really knew what they were going to get” on arrival.

With a background in advertising, Ms Ormerod said her work in travel and tourism along with her husband’s involvement in property development and real estate meant they identified a gap in the market for couples, friends and family groups seeking options in the luxury end of the holiday homes market.

As a result, ‘Luxico’ – which essentially combines hotels and holidays homes into one – was born in 2013.

“Luxico was a bit of an obvious outcome,” she explained of the company, which is now worth almost $20 million.

“We found there was a real niche for designer accommodation which we identified as not really existing at the time Luxico was born.”

Having a house on the Mornington Peninsula, Ms Ormerod said a lot of neighbors and Melbourne residents had “big homes” in the area which sat empty for most of the year. So she and Tom started renting out properties in the area which signaled a huge area of demand for beautiful, high-end homes temporarily.

“We found there was a lot of demand for that $1000-a-night or more price point that was not being serviced,” she said.

“So we then built on that to try and service that demand, and try to take the experience away from a transactional offering to a more hospitality or hotel offering [within a luxury home].”

Each Luxico stay comes with a concierge service – essentially a local who ‘checks you in’ to the home. Each concierge acts as a point of call for guests, with no request too big, small or bizarre. The homes range from $250 to $15,000 or more per night.

“It’s bringing the human element back into that holiday home stay, and all our concierges are from the local area,” she explained of the company which exclusively manages $700 million worth of property across Australia.

“The extra services you can have – from chefs, to butlers and specialist touring – are all part of the optional extras.

“But for the everyday traveller, the feedback has been that the concierge had given them insider tips to the area … maybe told them of an amazing hidden gem they wouldn’t have otherwise known about that made their holiday.”

While celebrity clients make up a large bulk of the brand’s clientele, Ms Ormerod said “mums and dads” still make up the majority of bookings.

“Luxico is an end-to-end service so we exclusively manage all of the properties that we offer,” she said, adding that if a family is looking to book two or three hotel rooms – a home works out to be better value.

“So we are managing the guest experience not just through the booking process, but the experience they have in home and even afterwards.

“So from the slippers, to the towels to prepared toiletries, the concierge is going in there and provisioning and preparing the home so if you are traveling with small children we will bring in a toy box so they have something to play with. So it’s all those little touches that make the experience a continuance of the booking process.

“It’s more a holistic experience, connecting you with local products, experiences and service providers that will build on that stay.”

Nick Kyrgios wins Citi Open title in Washington, beats Yoshihito Nishioka in tennis final

Nick Kyrgios has won his first singles title since 2019, beating Yoshihito Nishioka in the final of the Citi Open in Washington.

Kyrgios was clinical as he charged to a 6-4 6-3 victory on Monday morning (AEST). It’s his seventh career title and first singles triumph since he held the trophy aloft at this same tournament three years ago.

The Australian star appeared overcome with emotion as he slumped to his back on the baseline after sealing victory.

He also needed another moment as he sunk to his haunches to soak up his victory.

Speaking after the match, Kyrgios said the emotion came out of the “dark places” he’s had to go through in his tennis career.

“It was emotional for me to see where I was last year to now, it’s an incredible transformation,” Kyrgios said. “I just came out with great energy because I knew I had the experience on my side today.

“I love this court, I played so many good matches here. I’m just really happy with myself.

“I’ve been in some really dark places and just to be able to turn it around…

“There’s so many people who have helped me get there but myself, I’ve shown some serious strength to just continue and just persevere and get through those really tough times and still be able to perform in tournaments like this one.”

Last year, Kyrgios was dumped out in the first round of the Citi Open by Mackenzie McDonald and the Aussie said he had lost his competitive edge.

“I know that I’m going to be dealing with a lot of s**t now on social media. Like, my head’s in the shed, to be honest,” he said. “I don’t know, I didn’t play great.”

Kyrgios has battled depression in the past, admitting after his Australian Open doubles triumph with Thanasi Kokkinakis that he had self-harmed.

The Canberran revealed he had battled “suicidal thoughts” as well as feeling “lonely, depressed, negative, abusing alcohol, drugs, pushed away family & friends”.

A year on from his 2021 Citi Open admission, Kyrgios is playing some of the best tennis of his career and is fresh off his first grand slam final at Wimbledon

He’s also shared marriage and family plans with his partner Costen Hatzi.

Kyrgios now has a 4-0 record against Nishioka and had nothing but compliments for his vanquished rival.

“He’s a tricky opponent and he deserves every minute of celebrating getting into his first 500 final,” Kyrgios said.

“That was insane, the players he beat to get there were not easy at all, so I have to give him high praise.”

Later, Kyrgios joked: “We’ve known each other since 14 and you’ve grown into being a hell of a player so I hope you continue to play and achieve many more finals — and let’s keep the record the same.”
