Nate Landwehr vs David Onama, fight of the year, reaction, latest, updates

The UFC might want to start preparing a space in the Hall of Fame for a featherweight bout between Nate Landwehr and David Onama as the two slugged it out in a contest that several fans heralded as the fight of the year at UFC San Diego.

Landwehr beat Onama via majority decision (29-27 x 2, 28-28), but it was far from a straightforward victory.

Onama had the better of the exchanges in the first round and dropped the Tennessee native with a thundering right hand that caught Landwehr flush on the side of his head.

However, Onama returned to his corner at the end of the first round and looked completely gassed whilst sitting on his stool.

The fatigue showed early in the second round as Landwehr came flying out of the gates and unloaded on strikers.

It was like a big brother toying with his little brother as Landwehr took Onama down whenever he pleased.

The 34-year-old also seemed to have multiple submissions locked in, but Onama continued to squirm out thanks to a sweaty body allowing him to elude whatever Landwehr threw his way.

Such was the dominance and lack of response from Onama that his trainer asked him if he wanted to continue fighting in between the second and third rounds, but he was keen to continue.

The third round was a grandstand finish, as Landwehr gestured to the crowd and waved his arms up and down to generate even more noise.

It lived up to the billing, as Landwehr continued to pile on the shots.

However, despite Onama’s fatigue clearly setting in, he dug deep and answered back with strikes of his own that had Landwehr scrambling.

Ultimately it was Landwehr that secured the victory and in his post-fight speech, he emphatically declared that “my mama didn’t raise no b***h baby.”

Fight fans were in awe at the slugfest they had just witnessed in San Diego.

UFC San Diego: Josh Quinlan first-round KO victory vs. Jason Witt, video

Welcome to the UFC, Josh Quinlan.

The Hawaii native has claimed a stunning one-punch knockout victory on his UFC debut, defeating American opponent Jason Witt in the first round of Sunday morning’s catchweight contest in San Diego.

Quinlan needed just over two minutes to send his rival to the canvas, throwing a well-directed hard counter left as Witt attacked his body with a kick.

The 29-year-old initially dived in for a follow-up after Witt flopped to the floor, but he thankfully restrained from attacking his dazed opponent.

“Sometimes you have to do follow-up punches … you don’t know if he’s going to recover,” Quinlan told reporters after the victory.

“Even though he hit the ground, I didn’t know if he was out or not — I didn’t know if he was going to pop up or if he was going to regain his bearings.

“I pounced on him, I was going to throw a couple more blows, but I saw he kind of went limp a little bit and the ref kind of called it out as well.

“I’m glad I was able to have that restraint, but that might not be the case all the time.

“We’re going in there to finish our opponent, and he’s going in to finish me, so I want to make sure the job’s done.

“We have to go until we’re told to stop, but I’m glad I was able to keep my composure … I’m not looking to hurt people in there, but we’re trying to bring out the best martial arts in each other.”

Quinlan, who appeared on Dana White’s Contender Seriesimproves his professional record to 6-0 (1 NC), with all of his wins coming via knockout or submission.

Witt, meanwhile, suffered a second-consecutive loss, falling to 2-4 in the UFC.

Later on the UFC San Diego card, featherweight fighter Nate Landwehr defeated David Onama via majority decision (29-27 x 2, 28-28) in an enthralling slugfest.

“I’ve been informed by Major League Baseball that a test sample I submitted returned a positive result for Clostebol, a banned substance,” Tatis Jr. said in a statement, through the MLBPA.

“It turns out that I inadvertently took a medication to treat ringworm that contained Clostebol. I should have used the resources available to me in order to ensure that no banned substances were in what I took. I failed to do so.

“I want to apologize to Peter, AJ, the entire Padres organization, my teammates, Major League Baseball, and fans everywhere for my mistake. I have no excuse for my mistake, and I would never do anything to cheat or disrespect the game I love.”

‘Never seen that before’: Viral moment leaves baseball star red-faced

This US megastar made a $300m bet on himself. It’s about to pay off in ‘unbelievable’ fashion

‘An absolute heist’: MLB shocked as star traded after REJECTING 15-year, $636m deal

The 23-year-old phenom had missed the entire season due to a fractured wrist but had been expected to return soon.

This is a blow to the Padres, who went all in trading a haul of highly-ranked prospects to the Nationals for superstar outfielder Juan Soto and formidable first baseman Josh Bell.

“I have taken countless drug tests throughout my professional career, including on March 29, 2022, all of which have returned negative results until this test,” Tatis Jr.’s statement continued.

“I am completely devastated. There is nowhere in the world I would rather be than on the field competing with my teammates. After initially appealing the suspension, I have realized that my mistake was the cause of this result, and for that reason I have decided to start serving my suspension immediately. I look forward to rejoining my teammates on the field in 2023.”

The Padres are 63-51. While they trail the Dodgers for 16 games in the NL West, they would qualify for the postseason as a Wild Card team if the playoffs started today.

Tatis Jr. signed a 14-year, $AUD477 million contract with the Padres last February.

Kesha wears see-through dress on date night with mother | Photos

Kesha has stepped out in a completely see-through outfit for a dinner date with her mother.

The US singer, 35, dressed down for a dinner in Santa Monica, California with mum Pebe Sebert, where she was seen wearing a daring, sheer black dress.

the tik tok songstress was photographed in the risque long-sleeve ensemble, which featured sheer fabric, exposing her bare chest and a black G-string.

At one stage, Kesha put on a coat while posing for waiting photographers with her mother, who looked glamorous in a billowing white kaftan.

The mother-daughter duo had enjoyed an intimate dinner at the popular Giorgio Baldi restaurant in the California city.

Kesha, who’s last music release was in 2020 with her fourth album High Roadhas recently been busy promoting her new TV series, Conjuring Kesha.

She made an appearance at Comic-Con in San Diego last month to talk about the show, which follows the singer on her quest to explore haunted houses and locations.

speaking with comicbook.comKesha said making the eerie show “changed [her] entire life.”

“Making this show genuinely changed my entire life, because I’ve had these paranormal experiences and I think intuitively I knew they were real, but also questioned if other people had these experiences,” she said.

“All I know is that I absolutely am open to the possibility of it all. I think it’s shortsighted to say anything for sure doesn’t exist.”

Batgirl movie ‘shelved’ by DC Comics

Holy millions down the drain, Batman!

The DC Comics film batgirl will be completely “shelved” by Warner Bros, a top Hollywood source told new york post.

That means it won’t hit theaters or the US streaming service HBO Max. Fans will not see it.

The reportedly $100 million movie (the source said the budget was actually more than $140 million), which was doing test screenings for audiences in anticipation of a late 2022 debut, would rank among the most expensive cinematic cast-offs ever.

Those tests were said to be so poorly received by moviegoers that the studio decided to cut its losses and run, for the sake of the brand’s future. It’s a DC disaster.

“They think an unspeakable batgirl is going to be irredeemable,” the source said.

The Post has reached out to Warner Bros. for comment.

It’s been a months-long walk of shame for the movie. Batgirl, directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah (Bad Boys for Life), received not a single mention at DC’s Comic-Con panel in San Diego in July — an unusual move that raised industry eyebrows. The much-publicized event, after all, is designed to boost exposure for forthcoming projects just like this one.

Marvel’s Comic-Con presentation, on the flip side, announced more than a dozen films in the so-called Phases 5 and 6 of the MCU, to be released through fall 2025, with even more surely in the hopper.

batgirlwhich stars Leslie Grace (In the Heights) in the title role, alongside JK Simmons, Michael Keaton and Brendan Fraser, was originally planned for a release on HBO Max. The Puck newsletter reported in April that WB’s then-chair, Toby Emmerich, was considering a theatrical run for the film too.

But Emmerich stepped down in June to form his own production company — not long after Warner Bros. merged with Discovery and David Zaslav became the CEO of the new entity. He replaced Emmerich with MGM’s Michael De Luca (who likely had to deliver the “Bat” news) and Pam Abdy.

While the film’s co-directors have done some scattered interviews about casting, the studio has been mum on plans for batgirl ever since.

Shelving a multimillion-dollar effort would not be unusual for Zaslav, a ruthless cost-cutter. Remember, he’s the same guy who gave the $400 million streaming service CNN+ the ax just days after its splashy launch because it didn’t snare enough subscribers.

The budget-conscious CEO, according to Varietyhas split WB into multiple segments, including a reorganized “DC-based film production” group.

With that in mind, WB is said to be searching for a head honcho to run the flailing DC Extended Universe and whip it into a coherent shape, like Kevin Feige did with the far more successful Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is owned by Disney. The current president of DC film production is Walter Hamada. Warner Bros. Discovery will report their Q2 earnings and announce future plans on Thursday.

DC urgently needs all the help it can get.

Unlike the behavior that is Marvel Studios, whose movies occasionally get bad reviews but reliably print money, DC is a disorganized, confusing, not-very-profitable mess. Aquaman and Wonder Woman 1984 got mixed reviews from critics; birds of prey and Suicide Squad were admired flops.

batman performed OK at the box office for Warner Bros., netting $1.1 billion worldwide with an R rating, and got good notices. However, the only DC Extended Universe film that has managed to beat the $1.45 billion box office gross of Dark Knightwhich came out 14 long years ago (joker with Joaquin Phoenix was not part of the DCEU), was Aquaman.

Meanwhile, Marvel’s pandemic-era Spider-Man: No Way Home has grossed $2.75 billion worldwide and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness you have managed a solid $1.4 billion.

Lately, DC’s nasty star drama has eclipsed the buzz — such as it is — surrounding its movies.

Ezra Miller, who plays the Flash, has caused a string of embarrassing controversies this year. In the spring, the actor was twice arrested in Hawaii — first for disorderly conduct and harassment, then for second-degree assault. Then in June, the Standing Rock Sioux tribal court issued an order of protection against the 29-year-old for allegedly using “violence, intimidation, threat of violence, fear, paranoia, delusions and drugs” to groom an 18-year-old whom the actor has known since she was 12. (Miller has not publicly commented on the latest allegation; a police investigation into the Hawaii incidents are reportedly ongoing.)

Ben Affleck, meanwhile, consistently claims he’s done with playing the Caped Crusader — even going so far as to allow Robert Pattinson to take over the role in this year’s batman — but keeps coming back like a bad ex-boyfriend. It was reported this week by Screen Rant that the actor will appear yet again as Bruce Wayne in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Perplexing.

And Gal Gadot is said to be starring in Wonder Woman 3, but the actress and director Patty Jenkins have said nothing — including a title or release date — beyond that they’re throwing around script ideas. DC, which squanders legendary properties with abandon, appears to have no grand plan whatsoever.

Soon, however, Wonder Woman won’t be the one holding the golden lasso anymore. Instead, power will be wielded by an all-controlling DC film production head who will attempt to turn things around. Before they arrive, killing batgirl is Step 1.

“This is the end of DC as a hobby,” the source said.
