Kmart budget dupe for $1900 vintage Italian Murano lamp

Excited shoppers are racing to Kmart to get their hands on a table lamp that looks identical to its $1900 designer dupe.

TikTok was sent into a frenzy after a shopper posted a video of her buying the Amelie table lamp, which costs just $35.

People in the comments were quick to point out the lamp’s likeness to the highly sought-after vintage Murano lamp, which can be sold for upwards of $1900 on collector sites.

These original Italian made lamps were popular in the 1970s and are harder to come by in modern times, hence their hefty price tag.

The originals are made of glass in Venice with a soda-lime metal and are usually elaborately decorated, with various glass-forming techniques, as well as gilding, enamel, or engraving.

“The infamous Kmart light and it lives up to the hype,” TikTok user Shani Dayna captioned her video.

In the short clip, she excitedly unboxes the lamp and decides to put in a colour-changing light globe to create a unique ambience.

“I have one too! It’s such a vibe,” commented one. “It’s a replica of the vintage Murano ones.”

“Oh my god I’m running to Kmart to get this tomorrow,” another commented. “It’s so pretty! I need.”

This is not the first time Kmart has whipped up a frenzy by selling dupes for expensive items.

An influencer excited her followers earlier this year when she discovered a cheap puffer jacket that was a “perfect dupe” of a $400 version.

Melbourne woman Georgia Clay shared the stylish outerwear with her 40.2k followers on the platform, with many remarking the $40 piece was a perfect dupe for the likes of those from the North Face, at just 10 per cent of the cost.

The style – which launched as part of the retailer’s Autumn/Winter collection – “has quickly become a popular choice among customers”, a Kmart spokeswoman told news.com.au.

Cooks across the country were also excited after getting their hands on a budget version of the iconic Le Creuset cast iron pot.

The pot, which is available in different colours, sent Aussies into a frenzy online – as did the $30 price tag, considering similar Le Creuset casserole dishes can set you back up to $450.

Kmart releases new outdoor range, exciting customers

Shoppers who have active, young kids to keep busy are excited over a new outdoor range from Kmart that features a climbing ramp and slide.

A photo series shared by blogger Oh So Busy Mum to Facebook showed mud kitchen, a climbing ramp and slide and hopscotch mat.

“Wow! Kmart Australia have some fantastic outdoor play items at the moment,” the photos were captioned.

The giant hopscotch mat retails for $16, while a wooden climbing frame sells for $39, an adjustable basketball hoop is going for $59 and 4 balance beams also sold for $16.

Parents were extremely excited about the range and what it would mean for their children.

One social media user commented: “My son has Autism Spectrum Disorder and we have spent a fortune on therapy equipment over the years.

“Most of these items are just as good and for such a better price.”

Another said: Go Kmart! It’s so good to see that they have more things to encourage kids to be and playing inside and outside instead of being still and sitting around playing video games/iPads/watching TV.”

Another added: “They have some great things. Now if it’d just stop raining long enough to dry out the backyard to be able to play outside.”

One eager shopper revealed they had already gotten their hands on some of the outdoor equipment.

The social media user said: “Have a heap of the outdoor equipment already put away for Xmas.

“Found a lot on sale in June so grabbed some. Lucky have room in the shed.”

The buzz around the range is growing, with Kmart announcing it has plans to expand the range.

A Kmart spokeswoman told news.com.au: “Over recent years, our Kmart outdoor range has continued to grow in popularity and we are currently expanding these ranges.

“In particular, we have seen huge demand for our kids development, soft play and wooden development products and we have a number of new exciting products in these ranges coming soon both in stores and online.”

After selling out across the country last year, Kmart has brought back a very popular item.

The budget retailer caused a frenzy over its $20 “Casual Knit Square Toe Mules” when shoppers began raving about how “comfy” the affordable heels were.

One influencer even shared a TikTok video telling people they “need to go buy a pair right now” – predicting the shoes would “quickly sell out”.

Her warning was right and the heels became a fast favourite, with stock disappearing from Kmart shelves in October.

But now shoppers have spotted the item is once again available, with Kmart Australia revealing “more stock has just dropped into stores”.

“Customers have been loving our casual knit square toe mule that is incredible value, priced at $20,” a spokesperson told news.com.au.

“It’s the perfect addition to any outfit. The mule comes in a variety of colors including black, charcoal and natural, and the super-comfy slip on style can be styled up or down an outfit.”

TikTok user Olivia Burrows alerted shoppers to the fact the slide-on-shoes had returned in a recent video titled “premium Kmart haul”.

Putting together a black knit skirt and red blouse with the chunky heels, one social media user was quick to point out: “OMG the mules are back.”

Last year, fashion blogger @curvysam told followers they “need to go buy a pair right now” in a TikTok video that has been viewed almost 40,000 times.

Another affordable fashion influencer @kmartfever said she “can’t get enough of these mules” as they “seriously make every single outfit look better”.

The styling blogger purchased them in both black and the natural colour, which she said “go with everything”.

Shoppers quickly gave the mules the tick of approval, with many saying they had already purchased multiple colors and were “obsessed”.

“Just had to buy all colors,” one customer joked.

“Who is the buyer for Kmart? They deserve an award for saving us all,” another agreed.

“Already have two pairs! They are so good,” one person wrote.

“I’ve got them and they’re amazing,” another commented. “They don’t make that cheap sound when you walk… they’re silent.”

For winter 2022, the mules now also come in khaki green colour.
