Wayne Carey breaks his silence over ‘heated clash’ with Anthony Stevens 20 years after sex scandal

Kangaroos premiership star Wayne Carey has broken his silence over reports he had a heated altercation with Anthony Stevens outside a Melbourne pub on Saturday, 20 years after the pair fell out over Carey’s infamous affair with his teammate’s wife.

Carey’s fling with Stevens’ ex Kelli became the biggest sex scandal in Australian sports history when they were caught together in a toilet at a house party, leading to the two-time premiership captain leaving the club in disgrace.

The pair were at Yarraville’s Railway Hotel on Saturday night for a 1996 premiership reunion when Carey ‘went at’ Stevens, according to SEN’s Sam Edmunds.

They allegedly needed to be separated after Carey ‘went at’ Stevens after accusing him of ‘talking behind his back and telling people he couldn’t be contacted and to not bother trying to catch up with him, but then being fine in-person’ , the report said.

While Carey joined his teammates as they were paraded around the ground during the Kangaroos’ clash with the Swans at Marvel Stadium on Sunday, Stevens was nowhere to be seen.

It was reported he didn’t attend because he was too ‘shattered by the heated exchange’, but other ex-North Melbourne stars later said he was ill and didn’t boycott the event.

Now Carey has told his colleague at Channel Seven, Tom Browne, that there wasn’t an intense altercation and they didn’t have to be kept apart.

Carey added that Stevens stayed with the group of North Melbourne ex-players as they went to St Kilda, and the Herald Sun reported that the pair ‘shared a beer afterwards’.

Stevens is now a Kangaroos board member and president of the club’s past player association, and was a key driver behind organizing the event.

It included an informal catch-up at the pub on Saturday night, before the premiership players took part in a motorcade and photo opportunity before the Kangaroos game on Sunday.

Carey’s affair with Kelli emerged in 2002, after an encounter at a party hosted by club champion Glenn Archer attended by Kangaroos players.

Kelli followed Carey into a bathroom to discuss their sordid relationship, which started weeks earlier.

Stevens and Carey played together for North Melbourne from 1989 to 2001 before the betrayal was uncovered.

After leaving the club in disgrace, Carey joined the Adelaide Crows in 2003, and took the field against his former teammates in a fiery clash that saw him come face-to-face with Stevens.

In a twist, Stevens was named captain of the club following Carey’s departure.

In an interview with veteran journalist Mike Sheahan on Fox Footy in 2015, Stevens said he told his ex-teammate to ‘stick it’ at the time, but was also disappointed in Carey’s behavior following the betrayal.

‘It’s the one thing he has never done,’ Stevens said, when asked by Sheahan if Carey has apologized.

‘He has never actually gone out of his way to say sorry – for whatever reason.’

Carey did eventually apologize the following year – a full 14 years on from the sordid event.

Carey rehashed the while appearing on SAS Australia earlier this year, telling Chief Instructor Ant Middleton that the affair was a huge moment in his life.

‘It’s haunted me for over 20 years. I was in self-destruction mode. You know, I guess my life started to unravel,’ he said under interrogation.

At the time Carey was also married, to his first wife Sally McMahon. Stevens was even the groomsman at the wedding.

How your personality could be stopping you from losing weight

How your personality could be stopping you from losing weight – so which of the six types do you fit into?

  • Scientists say your personality type could be preventing you from losing weight
  • There are 6 groups: cravers, thinkers, socialisers, pleasers, foodies and battlers
  • Australian expert Dr Emily Brindal says we must tailor our approach to our type
  • She found the two most common types of dieters are thinkers and battlers

Scientists believe they have discovered the secret to losing weight – and it all comes down to personality.

Experts from Australia’s leading scientific agency CSIRO claim humans fit into six main personality types which are each suited to a different form of diet.

The most common types of dieters are ‘thinkers’ and ‘battlers’, according to a groundbreaking new CSIRO study, which says understanding which category you fall into could be the key to maintaining a healthy weight and the body of your dreams.

Accounting for 14.1 percent of 254,000 participants, ‘thinkers’ are motivated, analytical people with clear goals and ambitions for the future.

The six diet personality types

1. Thinkers: Motivated, analytical and goal-oriented people who are sensitive to negative feedback. Stress and anxiety can derail their diet.

2. Battlers: Prone to stress, anxiety and temptation to make poor food choices. Require strategies to help break the cycle.

3. Cravers: Have the highest BMI of all diet types and are those most likely to experience overwhelming cravings that lead to binge eating.

4. Pleasers: Likeable, friendly people who are sensitive to criticism. Need to surround themselves with positive reinforcement.

5. Foodies: Passionate about everything related to food. Eats the most balanced diet of all personality types.

6. Socialisers: Require flexibility in their diet to stop restrictions stifling the fun of occasions. Otherwise, they will fall off the wagon.

  • pleaser 233 votes
  • foodies 168 votes
  • Socializing 71 votes

The report claims they are sensitive to negative feedback that can lead to stress or anxiety, which is the primary cause of derailing their diet.

Coming a close second with 12.8 percent of respondents are ‘battlers’, who are prone to stress, anxiety and temptation to make poor food choices.

As a result, the study says battlers need strategies that help them to break the cycle if they want to lose weight and keep it off.

The four other diet types identified in the report are ‘cravers’, ‘pleasers’, ‘foodies’ and ‘socialisers’.

‘Cravers’ have the highest body mass index, according to the study, and are those most likely to experience overwhelming food cravings that may lead to binge eating.

Meanwhile it says ‘pleasers’ are likeable, friendly people who may be sensitive to social comparisons and criticism, which means it’s important for them to surround themselves with positive reinforcement.

‘Socialisers’ are those who need flexibility to stop dietary restrictions from stifling social events or ‘killing the mood’ of an occasion, according to the report.

Finally ‘foodies’ are passionate about everything to do with food, including preparing and eating good quality meals.

The study found this personality type eats the most balanced diet of the six.

Olivia Newton-John death: Mystery of Patrick McDermott, one-time lover who vanished at sea

The mysterious fate of Olivia Newton-John’s on-off lover haunted the singer in her later years after he disappeared without trace – amid lurid claims he faked his own death.

Patrick McDermott, 48, went on an overnight fishing trip with 22 other people on June 30, 2005, but vanished before he returned to dry land without anyone noticing.

For almost two decades afterwards, he was rumored to be in hiding in Mexico, on the run from crushing debts.

But repeated manhunts by police, media and private detectives have never been able to find any conclusive proof, despite constant reports of him being spotted.

‘I don’t think I will ever really be at peace with it,’ Newton-John admitted.

‘I think there will always be a question mark.’

The mysterious fate of Olivia Newton-John’s on-off lover Patrick McDermott haunted the singer in her later years after he disappeared without trace amid claims he faked his own death

She hooked up with McDermott after her 1995 divorce from first husband Matt Lattanzi and began a nine-year on-off romance with the cameraman.

Newton-John was on a promotional tour in Australia when McDermott disappeared and it was another week after the fishing trip until it was noticed he had gone.

Crew on his fishing boat had found the American’s car keys, passport and wallet on board the boat and his car was found parked at the San Pedro marina in Los Angeles.

But still no-one realized he was missing until he failed to appear at a family event on July 6, with police finally called in on July 11.

By then though the trail had gone cold – and investigators turned up nothing.

McDermott had previously been briefly married and fathered a son, and a court had recently ordered him to pay $8,000 in backdated child support.

He had filed for bankruptcy with debts of more than $30,000, prompting speculation he’d faked his death to escape and start anew.

A Coast Guard inquiry admitted they ‘did not find any evidence of criminal action, suicide, accident or hoax in the disappearance of McDermott.’

A three-year probe into the ‘Freedom’ fishing boat found it didn’t carry out any head counts on the day of the trip, causing McDermott’s disappearance to go unnoticed.

Both probes concluded McDermott was likely lost at sea during the night.

But eye witnesses continued to report seeing him around Mexico, where he was said to be living on a yacht off the coast of Sayulita and Acapulco.

TV companies repeatedly sent teams of undercover film crews and private detectives to hunt for him and set up sophisticated online website traps to trace him.

For almost two decades afterwards, he was rumored to be in hiding in Mexico, on the run from crushing debts and said to be living on a yacht off the Mexican coast at Sayulita

One investigator John Nazarian insisted in 2016: ‘It’s rumored he was with a German national. I spoke to people there.

‘The girl he was traveling with was described as having a German accent.

‘To come up with the conclusion that he fell off the boat, and allegedly no-one saw him fall off the boat, is the most preposterous thing I’ve ever heard in my life.’

All the manhunts proved fruitless though and McDermott remained elusive.

Photographs of a man and a woman said to be McDermott and his new lover in Mexico were published in 2017 by New Idea magazine.

But the claims were undone weeks later when a Canadian couple came forward to say they were the people in the photograph.

Olivia Newton-John put the tragedy behind her to get on with life, meeting future husband John Easterling and marrying him at an Inca ritual in Peru in 2008.

But the mystery continued to stalk her in the years that followed, although she had resigned herself to the fact McDermott was most probably dead.

‘He was lost at sea, and nobody really knows what happened,’ Newton-John told 60 Minutes in 2016.

‘It’s human to wonder. Because whenever you go through difficult times, there’s always those concerns.

‘Those are the things in life you have to accept and let go. Of course questions always come up and that’s human.

‘But you know, I live on.’

WHAT HAPPENED TO OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN’S LOST LOVER?

Theories have raged for almost two decades about the fate of Olivia Newton-John’s on-off lover, movie cameraman Patrick McDermott, 48.

He vanished on an overnight 22-hour fishing trip on the boat ‘Freedom’ out of San Pedro marina in Los Angeles on June 30, 2005.

The boat’s crew found his car keys, wallet and passport on board after all the other passengers disembarked the following day, and his car was found parked nearby.

The crew hadn’t done a headcount so no-one noticed he was missing for another week when he failed to turn up for a family event, with police alerted almost a week later..

Since then speculation has raged about what happened to him, with investigators unable to find any evidence of a crime, suicide, hoax or an accident on the fishing trip.

Officials believe he simply fell overboard and drowned, but conspiracy theorists insist he may have had another boat lined up to meet him offshore.

Others believe he may have planted his belongings on the boat before slipping off, possibly before it even left port, without any noticing.

Private detectives set up a website FindPatrickMcDermott.com to try to trap the missing American into giving himself away, identifying the location of everyone who accessed the site.

A flurry of web traffic from the Sayulita area of Mexico’s West Coast sparked a hunt for him there without any success.

Others say they spotted him living on a yacht off the coast of Acapulco, 1000km further south.

One investigator claimed to have found him and spoken with him in 2009, claiming he just wanted to be left alone but the claim was unsubstantiated.

Another claimed to have categorical proof he was alive and was on the verge of revealing it – but never did.

Over the years there have been at least 20 sightings of him in Mexico and Central America, but many have proven false.

One set of pictures of a couple alleged to be the distinctive looking McDermott – who was half-Korean and adopted at the age of two – turned out to be a Canadian couple.

His ex-wife Yvette Nipar, the mother of their son Chance, begged for the speculation to end for the sake of their child.

She pleaded with Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos to block the publication of a book by private eye Philip Klein about her ex’s disappearance.

‘My son has been through enough emotional torment over this,’ Nipar wrote, branding Klein a ‘serial liar’.

‘He has yet to be able to move on.due to Mr Klein’s continual effort to keep him in the public eye.

‘Let him rest in peace.’

The victims are yet to be formally identified.

‘The scene was confronting and has been described as an (alleged) frenzied attack on the two deceased persons,’ Detective Superintendent Andrew Massingham told reporters.

A major crime scene was set up as officers cordoned off the quiet cul-de-sac and knocked on the doors of neighbours, with the street remaining under a heavy police presence on Monday afternoon.

‘So our forensic officers have been in on a couple of occasions now. The scene is quite traumatic in terms of a large amount of blood that is present,’ Det Supt Massingham said.

Det Supt Massingham said the man in custody is believed to have had a ‘link to the address’ but his relationship with the two found dead was yet to be fully established.

‘There were some language difficulties with the interpretation of what he was saying, an interpreter was used by the triple zero service,’ he said.

‘He has exercised his right to silence and has requested the presence of a solicitor.

‘It’s still very early days in the investigation and it’s important that we keep an open mind.

‘There’s been no information from neighbors to indicate that anything has been heard at this stage.’

Det Supt Massingham said there were CCTV cameras at the front of the home, which are yet to be reviewed.

The bodies are expected to be removed from the scene by Monday night with an autopsy to be completed by Tuesday.

Shocked neighbors told the Courier Mail a man, woman and boy lived at the house. They were described as ‘lovely people who mainly kept to themselves’.

‘Recently I haven’t seen them too much but normally they are out in the yard,’ one man said.

‘I think the boy just got his license not that long ago.

‘You don’t think this kind of thing will happen around you but obviously it has.’

Another told the ABC: ‘They kept to themselves, if they were going up the street you’d just wave, say hi and that was about it.’

Another local said said he heard a dog constantly barking on Sunday night.

‘In the morning it was very quiet until the police got here, the only thing we could recall was a dog barking and going crazy last night before the other dogs on the street started barking too,’ he said.

‘I have never heard any real noise or anything from that end of the street, it’s usually very quiet so it’s very scary and shocking.’

The property last sold for $760,000 four years ago, according to online data.

The median price for homes in Stretton is more than $900,000 and is home to a population of 4,334, according to the 2016 Census.

The average weekly household income for the suburb is $1,843, well above the national median of $1,234.

Olivia Newton-John said being in denial about her cancer was a ‘good thing’ – two years before death

Late music icon Olivia Newton-John confessed that she had been in ‘denial’ about her cancer battle in recent years – and refused to label her struggle to live as a ‘fight.’

In one of her last poignant red carpet appearances, the Australian star admitted that she even refused to think about cancer on a daily basis.

The fun-loving singer and actress, famous for her role as Sandy in 1978 film Grease, as well as her stellar music career, called life ‘a gift’ no matter the outcome.

A statement from her husband John Easterling posted to her Instagram revealed the singer died peacefully at her Southern California ranch Monday morning. She was 73.

Newton-John had always remained positive about her health even during the worrying times of the pandemic.

Olivia Newton-John spoke candidly about her positive outlook on life amid her long battle with cancer, in an interview with DailyMail.com at the G'Day USA benefit in Beverly Hills in January 2020. She is pictured with her niece, Australian actress Tottie Goldsmith

Just two years before her passing, she spoke candidly about her outlook on life at the G’Day USA benefit in Beverly Hills alongside former co-star John Travolta.

‘Gosh, life is a gift and I’ve had an amazing life and I intend to keep going with it and I want to help other people with cancer of course,’ she told DailyMail.com in the January 2020 interview.

‘I have my wellness center in Melbourne and I want to see an end to cancer in my lifetime so other people don’t have to suffer.’

Newton-John was first diagnosed with the disease in 1992 but announced she had overcome the cancer in 2013, the year after her Wellness Center first opened.

But in May 2017, she was told cancer had metastasized and spread to her bones.

Reflecting on her fight to beat the condition, she admitted: ‘I don’t see it as a battle. I don’t think about it a lot, to be honest.

‘Denial is a really good thing and I’m getting stronger and better all the time! I am doing well!…I am feeling wonderful.’

She also admitted that she had hope for her future.

‘I’m winning over and living with it well and that’s how I see it,’ she added.

Newton-John also reflected on her delight at still being remembered for Grease over four decades after its release.

She confessed: ‘We did something very special together. That movie is still loved.’

She recalled how caring Travolta was during the filming of the musical romantic film.

Asked about her favorite memory on set, she relied: ‘His kindness to me. When there was one scene in the movie – it was my close up, when Rizzo pulls me forward in the bonfire scene – and in the middle of my take, he stopped it and came over to me and whispered in my ear: “I think you can do better.”

‘So that’s really generous. For an actor to do that for another actor. I wasn’t as experienced as him. He was very nurturing and sweet.’

During that same event, lifelong friend and Grease co-star Travolta praised her positive outlook on life, despite her health worries.

He said: ‘Olivia is a survivor and she’s smart and she’s got a lot of life in her and I think she looks at it from the glass half full always and that’s her beautiful, natural approach towards life and I think we all need to do that.’

At the time, Newton-John also said that tumors were ‘receding or they’re going away, which on a Stage 4 metastatic breast cancer – that’s pretty amazing.’

However on Monday, husband John Easterling announced the tragic news that his wife had lost her battle.

‘Dame Olivia Newton-John passed away peacefully at her ranch in Southern California this morning, surrounded by family and friends,’ he said in a statement.

‘We ask that everyone please respect the family’s privacy during this very difficult time.

‘Olivia has been a symbol of triumphs and hope for over 30 years sharing her journey with breast cancer.

Her healing inspiration and pioneering experience with plant medicine continues with the Olivia Newton-John Foundation Fund, dedicated to researching plant medicine and cancer.’

Newton-John balanced her career with spending the last 30 years as a bold advocate for cancer patients and survivors.

She admitted in 2020: ‘I live in the most beautiful place in the countryside and I just play with my animals and get out in nature. That’s my healing place. But I never feel kind of overwhelmed with helping people if I can.

‘I have a little group of women that I stay in touch with who are going through metastatic breast cancer also and we stay in touch and communicate.

Newton-John famously resisted the part of Sandy in the 1978 movie Grease. She was 28 at the time and thought she was too old to play a fresh-faced high school student

‘And I’d love to take that to a broader audience so people can share their experiences and share the things that they are doing that are helping them.

‘I’m in a very happy place. My baby has been born, the foundation has been born and now we can move forward and raise the funds so that we can find the best scientists and researchers to do the studies.’

She often promoted the use of cannabis and gardening as key to fending off cancer symptoms.

‘My husband’s a plant medicine man so he grew cannabis for me and made tinctures for me to take for pain and inflammation and so many other things that cannabis can do.

‘It’s been a maligned plant all these years and it really is a magical miracle plant.’

Olivia said using marijuana was a ‘no brainer.’ rather than popping pills and taking steroid creams.

‘It helped me a lot with pain, because, you know, I don’t like taking prescription drugs, so it’s kind of a no-brainer.

‘It is kind and it’s compassionate. It’s what should be available for everybody to use.’

Born in Cambridge, England, Newton-John spent the majority of her schooling in Melbourne, Australia, where her family moved when she was six years old.

In high school, she carved a name as a talented singer, before returning to the UK as their representative at the Eurovision song contest, losing out to Swedish pop legends ABBA in 1974.

As her career grew, she first landed the role of Sandy in the Broadway musical Grease, before being cast opposite Travolta in the blockbuster film.

It turned her into a global star leading her to huge music and movie success.

She explained the details of the strange transaction in a post to Reddit last Thursday and asked other shoppers if they felt it was a ‘dodgy’ thing to do?

‘I just got back from Woolworths where I tried to pay with my phone on self checkout,’ the mother wrote.

‘It wasn’t working so they printed me a barcode and took me to the service desk to pay, but my phone payment still didn’t work.

‘After trying a few times and my newborn kicking off, the staff member said, don’t worry it’s on me.’

The mother said she was ‘really taken back’ by the generous offer and asked the worker if she could transfer her the money.

She claimed the employee declined the offer and responded and insisted it was no problem.

‘I was so grateful and also mortified,’ the mother said.

She questioned whether Woolworths staff members can pay for customers groceries legally or if it was ‘dodgy’.

‘I want to go back and give her something to say thank you, but don’t want to get her in trouble if she’s done something she’s not supposed to have done,’ she added.

Respondents in the Reddit post largely agreed that the woman should be thankful for the kind gesture and not bring attention to it at the store in case the staff member gets into trouble.

‘Maybe accept the kindness shown and pay it forward to someone else in need. In that way, you don’t risk getting the staff member in trouble,’ one commenter said.

Another person wrote: ‘Yeah, don’t go back and thank her manager and unwittingly have her fired. It’s a good intention that may backfire. Instead, next time you see her, thank her yourself.’

A third added: ‘What’s more likely? They risk being sacked or even arrested for a total stranger, or pays a few bucks to help out someone obviously trying their best but struggling.’

‘My partner works at a supermarket and has paid for people before. It feels good. Pay it forward.’

Others disagreed with the act and claimed the employee likely voided the transaction.

‘She wouldn’t have paid. Technically, it’s not the right thing to do but also Woolies wouldn’t risk the bad PR of firing an employee over helping someone with a screaming baby,’ said one.

‘Yeah that transaction 100% got voided. More than likely she just wanted that screaming baby out of the store ASAP because parents never try and quieten them, ‘she wrote her a second.

A handful of commenters revealed they had personally paid for other shopper’s groceries before usually because of a technical issue or the customer struggled to afford it.

It was previously revealed that Kylie ‘didn’t want to overshadow’ the current cast of Neighbors during its finale episode.

Following criticism from fans that she only uttered two lines, producer and writer Jason Herbison explained that her appearance was ‘always going to be small’.

He said: ‘Our discussions with Jason and Kylie were always about making a small appearance. They didn’t want to overshadow the current cast or make the finale about them.’

Kylie joined the cast of Neighbors in 1986 but left the series in 1988 to embark on a pop career and went on to enjoy decades of chart success with hits such as I Should Be So Lucky, and Can’t Get You out of My Head and even teamed up with then boyfriend Jason to release chart-topper Especially For You in 1989, which could be heard playing as the on-screen couple made their return to Ramsay Street in the finale.

Herbison went on to explain that Kylie and Jason’s scenes were shot before he had even written the episode and ‘hates’ to see the Spinning Around legend facing backlash.

He told TV Tonight: ‘We also filmed their scenes before I’d written the episode, so whatever we filmed had to fit in with that. I hate to see Kylie coping any criticism – she was nothing short of amazing on the day.’

Neighbors initially aired on BBC One from 1986 until 2008 before being shown on Channel 5 and the soap relied on funding from the British network but in February 2022, the broadcaster confirmed they were to focus on UK drama instead.

‘You’re a sook “influencer,”‘ another savagely commented.

‘This season’s Tanya,’ wrote a third, referring to Tanya Guccione from last season, before another laughed: ‘Imagine leaving the block cause of the toilet paper.’

‘Weak loser,’ another savagely wrote before commenting a second time: ‘You and your husband are nobodies.’

It was billed as one of the most shocking moments in Australian reality TV history.

And on Monday, viewers finally got to see the moment Scott Cam told the stunned Blockheads that fellow contestants Elle Ferguson and Joel Patfull decided to quit the show.

During the episode, the host, 59, was pulled aside by two executive producers who revealed the glamorous influencers decided to leave after just 48 hours of being on-set.

After being told the astonishing news, Scott informed the other contestants about Elle and Joel’s decision to leave.

‘Last night I gave you all an opportunity – an out – if you thought you couldn’t cut it on the show that you could leave if you wanted to,’ the fuming host began.

‘I didn’t think anyone would drop an opportunity like this, but I’ve just found out that Joel and Elle are on their way to the airport.’

He added: ‘They have left their show. They didn’t say goodbye, they didn’t say thanks for having us. They just left.’

‘Apparently The Block is not on brand for them.’

All the remaining contestants appeared shocked, with Sharon Johal saying: ‘It was a bombshell.’

‘Things played out, we did see in the media things about Joel’s family but we knew that happened before they got onto The Block because he had told us,’ she said.

The pair reportedly left after Joel’s mother broke her coccyx and fractured her wrist during a fall at her home in Adelaide.

Following their exit, Elle shared a photo to Instagram of the pair’s suitcases at Melbourne Airport.

'They have left their show. They didn't say goodbye, they didn't say thanks for having us. They just left,' Scott said to the shocked contestants

‘Wherever you are in the world, whatever you are doing, family always comes first,’ she captioned the image.

But Scott has since disputed their reason for leaving, insisting that they didn’t tell producer about the AFL star’s sick mother before fleeing the set of the series.

Last week, he told The Kyle and Jackie O Show The Block would have been prepared to temporarily shut down production to accommodate the couple’s visit to see Joel’s mother if they had been made aware of the situation.

‘They didn’t mention the sick mum to us. If they had said to us we need to go see my mum, of course family comes first. We would have flown them back to Adelaide and flown them back,’ the long-time host said.

‘They spoke to our producer and said they had decided The Block isn’t on brand for them. It was chaos.’

Scott went on to say Elle also insisted on bringing ‘a lot of designer outfits’ for filming, despite a strict dress code.

‘You have got to wear the hi-vis [workwear] and the boots but [Elle] did have a lot of outfits there ready to go,’ he said.

Scott previously said at the Logie Awards that Elle and Joel giving up so soon into the competition was ‘unAustralian’ and ‘p**s poor’.

He told TV Tonight: ‘We had a 48-hour challenge to choose the house that you get and they scarpered after 48 hours. It’s something that’s never happened before.

‘Forty-five thousand people applied to be on The Block and win life-changing money. These guys got on and they just couldn’t handle the pace after 48 hours,’ he continued.

‘Which to me is a bit unAustralian! Have a go! It’s p**s poor.’

Scott reportedly told the other contestants Elle and Joel left because the renovation show wasn’t ‘on brand’ for them as Bondi influencers.

He also said they had complained ‘the toilet paper was too scratchy’.

According to reports at the time, they initially tried to stay on the show but left after they ‘couldn’t get a definitive answer’ from producers as to whether Joel could ‘come and go’ from the construction site in Gisborne to visit his ailing mother in Adelaide.

However, The Block’s executive producer Julian Cress has also disputed this, telling the Herald Sun that Joel and Elle ‘never’ made such a request.

Mr Cress added that The Block is always willing to accommodate teams during family emergencies, and once shut down production for an entire week in 2013 when the mother of one of the contestants fell ill.
