Vegan Air Canada passenger stunned at lack of airline meals

A woman was left stunned and annoyed after she ordered several vegan meals on a plane – but was served nothing more than a bottle of water during meal service.

Miriam Porter, a travel blogger who goes by the TikTok handle ‘the kind traveller’, was on an Air Canada flight traveling from Toronto, Canada to Frankfurt, Germany.

In a now viral clip that has amassed almost a million views, Miriam explained she ordered several vegan meals during the more than 10-hour flight, but was left hungry after claiming to be served nothing but water.

“POV: You are on an Air Canada flight for over ten hours and order vegan meals,” her post begins.

She then shares footage from the flight showing her first ‘meal’ being a bottle of water.

For “meal 2” she showed a napkin with nothing on it.

Miriam was eventually given some food – though not part of the proper meal service.

Instead, a flight attendant nabbed a makeshift meal for her from business class.

“Shout out to the kind flight attendant that got me fruit & dinner rolls from business class,” she captioned the clip.

“I love fruit but also like entire meals!” she pointedly added.

Air Canada has a selection of ‘special meals’ that passengers can order in advance. It varies from vegetarian to diabetic, kosher and vegan meal options.

“Special meals are available in all classes of service on all flights where a meal service is offered (except on flights offering Air Canada Bistro service),” its site states.

“We won’t be able to guarantee that your special meal request can be accommodated if it’s submitted less than 24 hours before the first flight in your itinerary.”

However, Miriam said her order was placed “well in advance and confirmed (many times)”.

“This has happened many times sadly. I always preorder in advance and bring my own food in case. But this time it was impossible,” she said.

Her clip has attracted hundreds of comments from users who asked why she just didn’t bring her own food this time.

“I always bring my own food in case but I was on a 24-hour delay and couldn’t make food to bring,” she explained.

Air Canada states: “You may bring your own snacks and food on board, or purchase meals and beverages at the airport before your flight – just make sure to purchase beverages after you’ve passed through security and take into consideration any limitations on bringing food through US pre-clearance when traveling to the US.”

Miriam described the situation as “annoying”.

“Especially since it was day two of trying to get home with little food. But I’m back so a happy ending,” she said.

Miriam added that it took her two days to get home from Berlin.

Her clip prompted others to share their horror food stories, with one woman saying she was served a “small bun with three slices of zucchini” during a long-haul flight.

Another said they were served “lettuce with six cold mushrooms on top” during their flight.

One woman said she was given “chicken on my vegan pre-booked menu”.

Others said they often had to fill up on the bread rolls and snacks such as pretzels and hummus.

Kylie Jenner forced to reveal truth behind photos of her working in lab

Kylie Jenner has hit back at haters who criticized her recent lab photos for being “unsanitary”.

But in the process of defending herself, the 24-year-old US makeup mogul has been forced to admit an embarrassing detail.

The Kylie Cosmetics founder uploaded a string of glamorous photos of herself working on cosmetics while wearing a lab coat, telling Instagram followers she was “in the lab creating new magic for you guys.”

The photos were called out by cosmetic developer Kevin James Bennett in an Instagram post, in which he slammed her for not wearing “a hair net, shoe covers, [a] mask … and disposable GLOVES.”

Jenner was quick to argue with Bennett, writing in the comments section, “Kevin — this picture is not taken in a manufacturing facility. i would never bypass sanitary protocols and neither would any other celeb or beauty brand owner.”

The reality star wrote that she was in a “small, personal space” in the pictures, which was strictly “for content.”

“[I was] creating my own fun samples and taking pictures for content nowhere near the mass manufacturing,” the kardashians alum went on to write. “No one is putting customers at risk!”

She concluded, “Shame on you Kevin for spreading false information !!!!”

In Bennett’s reply to Jenner, he accused the star of “serious[ly] gaslighting” her followers.

“So you were standing on a platform, looking into an expensive homogenizing kettle that had processed at least 50 liters of a complexion product (the product still covering the mixing paddles) without PPE or your hair tied back, wearing a lab coat? But this is not a cosmetics manufacturing facility?” I have asked. “It’s a personal space?”

Sources exclusively told Page Six that Jenner was not on the production floor when the pictures and videos were taken as she was simply reviewing colors and ideating on new concepts.

However, this was not made clear to Jenner’s fans, who have mixed feelings about the lab visit.

“Many brand owners take those pictures. Ella she’s not doing anything wrong and we have zero way to know how involved she is in formulation, ”one Instagram user wrote.

Another added, “I’ve seen all kinds of scenarios in development labs, but uncovered hair near a kettle in production would never happen. full stop.”

Jenner founded Kylie Cosmetics in 2014 and began selling products the following year, going on to also launch Kylie Skin and Kylie Baby in 2019 and 2021, respectively.

UK woman’s viral TikTok after On The Beach didn’t share flight cancellation

A woman has revealed her horror experience after she turned up to the airport only to find out her flight had been canceled five months earlier.

The British woman who goes by the handle ‘Paris Hilton’ on TikTok explained in a series of viral clips she booked a holiday package through UK-based online travel agent On The Beach in October last year.

It cost a total of $A4500 and included flights, accommodation and transfers.

She and her partner were scheduled to fly out from Bristol Airport at 6am on May 4 to Thessaloniki, Greece on budget airline Jet2.

“All was fine up until the day before the holiday,” she said in a viral clip.

“We booked a hotel for the night at Bristol as we were flying at 6am the following morning and [the airport] is about two hours from us.”

“We arrived at the hotel at 9pm the night before and decided to check in online,” she said.

After struggling to find the flight number online, the woman and her partner decided to go to the airport where she explained the situation to a Jet2 staffer.

However, she was told it “doesn’t exist”.

“[The woman] said they do not fly to Thessaloniki and there is no flight tomorrow at 6am. I am such a nervous flyer as it is, I absolutely hate it, so to hear this gave me the biggest anxiety of my life.”

Paris said the staffer told her the flight was canceled back in December, five months before they were due to fly out.

“We were not told about any of this. We even got an email to fill in a form for our flight two days before,” she claimed.

She also called the Thessaloniki hotel to triple check it was still booked and thankfully she was told they were expecting her and her partner.

The woman said, given the holiday was booked and planned months ago and she had taken the time off work, she and her boyfriend decided to book another flight and go ahead with the trip.

The only other available option was a flight for the same time but from London Gatwick Airport – three hours away from Bristol.

The new flight cost £517 ($A900) plus petrol and parking – “and the hotel went to waste because we didn’t even stay there”.

They arrived at Gatwick Airport at 2.30am, and by the time the pair eventually arrived in Greece they’d had “no sleep for 30 hours”.

“We couldn’t even comprehend we were on a holiday or get excited because we were just not even with it,” she said.

“We spent the whole holiday trying to catch up on sleep.”

The woman emailed On The Beach about the issue and claimed she didn’t receive a response until five weeks later.

“The only excuse they had to give us was that there was an error and apparently they tried to give us a refund but it didn’t go through.”

She shared a screenshot breaking down all the extra expenses involved because of the issue, which included $A260 for parking at Gatwick Airport and $A104 in petrol money for a total of 11 hours of driving.

Overall, the trip cost them almost double the original price.

“All they were willing to give back was £800 ($A1400) which was the difference in the flight and the parking and the transfers,” she said.

“It’s not so much about the money as they offered to give us something back. It’s more the fact we feel completely cheated of this holiday and it [was] nearly ruined.”

She said holidays are meant to be fun and exiting, but for her it was tarnished by her horrible experience, adding that she was expecting more of a sympathetic response from the company.

“I know people who have had great experiences [with the company] but it’s from my experience and what has happened to me.”

She said she understands mistakes happen, but the company had five months to let her know.

“I don’t have the spare cash, my partner did. I would have had to go home and there couldn’t be another week I could have taken this holiday,” she said.

“I want them to take accountability and responsibility. They said it was an error and that’s not good enough.”

In the comments section on her viral TikTok, the company wrote: “You’re right, this sounds like a terrible experience and I can only apologize!”

But the traveler hit back, saying: “An apology isn’t going to cut it.”

“We will be taking this a lot further ’til we feel we have been fully compensated and you won’t do this again to anyone ever.”

She also shared a screenshot of an email she had received from the company apologizing over the matter.

It read: “Thank you for contacting us about your recent holiday. Feedback, whether good or bad, is extremely important to us.

“We also understand that a lot of time and effort goes into the planning of your holiday, so naturally we want everything to run as smoothly as possible for you. Consequently I’m really sorry to note your concerns in relation to On the Beach’s service.

“I understand that due to system error on arrival at the airport the airline had no booking for you. We do apologize that this occurred and I have arranged a refund of the flight costs which is the cost of your original flight plus the difference for you new flight. We are sorry to disappoint you but we would not reimburse you for the hotel you chose at Bristol, nor the carparking at this location.”

Paris said she found the response to be lacking empathy, adding: “I don’t even know how this even happens. I get even more angry each time I look at it!”

She said she still has not received the reimbursement and warned viewers to triple check flights, accommodation and transfers, if they book with online agents.

“I did not want someone to go through the same thing. If this has reached as many people who have booked a holiday through these companies all I can ask you to do is take it in your own hands.

“Ring the airline, make sure that flight is there, ring the hotel make sure you still have a hotel.”

Bacon hack: Chef shares boil method for crispy bacon

A chef revealed his foolproof way to get perfect crispy bacon every time.

“If you want perfectly crispy bacon you have to boil it,” said chef Roice Bethel in a TikTok video.

“I know that sounds like it wouldn’t work, but it does.”

I have explained the unlikely method works because it adds time to the cooking process, the new york post reports.

“The muscle cooks extremely quickly, the fat takes a longer time to render out,” Bethel, who has over 665,000 followers, said.

Want to stream your news? Flash lets you stream 25+ news channels in 1 place. New to Flash? Try 1 month free. Offer ends October 31, 2022 >

Adding water to the pan and boiling the bacon means the temperature won’t get too high too fast.

“Once the water completely evaporates … the meat’s not overcooked or burnt and the fat has perfectly rendered so it’s nice and crispy,” the chef told viewers.

So far, the video has had 2.9 million views.

Some people in the comments section were amazed at this hack and vowed to try it for themselves.

“Tried this morning and it was a game-changer,” one person commented.

Others tried to compete with their own methods of cooking bacon.

“Baked bacon is by far the best bacon ever. Hands down,” one person said.

“Three minutes in the microwave between two sheets of paper towels will do the same thing,” wrote another.

But some commenters just didn’t like the idea at all.

“This is just training wheels for people who don’t know how to control the temperature of their bread,” one read.

“Or just make it properly,” read a second one.

TikTok: US woman makes surprising claim about Aussie driver

An American woman living in Sydney has divided the internet after claiming that she did not use a handbrake on her car.

The woman, known as Brit, claimed in a now viral TikTok post that there was no need to use the handbrake except in certain circumstances because cars weren’t “rolling away”.

“If you’re American, do you use the parking brake when you drive?” she said in the video which has been viewed nearly 500,000 times and attracted over 2000 comments.

“Because I’ve never used one in my entire life but I think everyone uses them in Australia.

“And my boyfriend asks me to drive and I have to look at it and say ‘Is it on? I don’t know’.”

In a later video, Brit, who describes herself as a “Midwest girl living in Sydney”, clarified that there was only one circumstance in which she used the parking brake.

“I don’t know if the cars are built differently or something. A few people have commented and said that American cars have some sort of anti-roll s*** that Australian cars don’t,” she said.

“But the cars aren’t just f***ing rolling away guys. When you put it in park you can lean on it, you can push, it doesn’t just roll anywhere.

“We don’t need to put the parking brake on unless you’re on a really steep hill, that’s what we’re taught.”

Her post split the comments section in half, with some questioning how she was able to drive safely’.

“Que?!?! I’m American and I use them EVERYTIME! How did y’all pass your exam?,” one user said.

“This is why we see so many videos of parked cars rolling into traffic in the US,” another added.

Another user added: “Using the park break not only is a failsafe it’s to take away stress and strain from your gearbox/transmission.”

However some users from the US said that Brit was correct.

“These comments are killing me… we only use them on hills. IDK if our cars are different or what but I would never just use it,” one said.

Another added: “ONLY when i’m parked in an incline. idk why people just use them to use them. it’s not necessary.”

Ne-Yo’s wife, Crystal Renay, accuses him of cheating: ‘8 years of lies and deception’

Looks like Ne-Yo’s wife is about to become “Miss Independent.”

Crystal Renay shared an impassioned statement via Instagram on Saturday, in which she accused her husband of cheating on her with “numerous” other women over the course of their nearly decade-long relationship, reports the new york post.

“8 years of lies and disappointment. 8 years of unknowingly sharing my life and husband with numerous of women who sell their bodies to him unprotected… every last one of them!” her statement from her began.

“To say I’m heartbroken and disgusted is an understatement. To ask me to stay and accept it is absolutely insane. The mentality of a narcissist. I will no longer lie to the public or pretend that this is something it isn’t,” she continued.

Renay, 36, added that she would be focusing on herself moving forward, writing, “I choose me, I choose my happiness and health and my respect.

“I gained 3 beautiful children out of this but nothing else but wasted years and heartache,” the model added of the three kids she shares with the 42-year-old singer — sons Shaffer Chimere, 6, and Roman Alexander-Raj, 4 , as well as 13-month-old daughter Isabella Rose.

She concluded on a conciliatory note that nonetheless conveyed an air of finality: “If someone can’t love you the way you deserve then it’s up to you to love yourself. With no hate in my heart I wish him nothing but the best.”

A spate of celebs and influencers proclaimed their allegiance to Renay in the comments section, offering both condolences and words of support.

“Stand in your truth boo. Now it’s just time for the next chapter in your story. Sending you all the good vibes,” wrote social media personality Landon Romano.

“So sorry,” wrote model and dancer Bria Myles, adding five melancholic crying emojis.

By Sunday afternoon, Ne-Yo responded to Renay’s post via Twitter.

“For the sake of our children, my family and I will work through our challenges behind closed doors,” he explained.

“Personal matters are not meant to be addressed and dissected in public forums. I simply ask that you please respect me and my family’s privacy at this time.”

Renay first started dating Ne-Yo sometime after the two met in 2015 to discuss potentially collaborating on the musician’s upcoming album, according to People.

The R&B star’s ex-fiancee, Monyetta Shaw, 42, — with whom he shares Madilyn Grace, 11, and Mason Evan, 10 — claimed in a 2016 New York Post op-ed that she learned of his involvement with Renay in 2014 , one year after he’d broken up with Shaw over the phone.

In any case, the One in a Million crooner successfully proposed to Renay in 2015, and the two wed a little under a year later — at which time she was nearly nine months pregnant with their first child.

The couple briefly split in 2020 before remarrying in 2022, throwing a lavish ceremony in Las Vegas to celebrate their reunion.
