Stolen bodega cat returned to its owners at Brooklyn deli

It’s a purrfect ending to the tale of Boka, the stolen bodega cat.

A mysterious intermediary returned the feline to the Green Olives Deli & Grill in Park Slope a week after a catnapper grabbed the gray kitty outside the Seventh Avenue shop.

Abdulmajeed Albahri, one of three owners of the bodega, said he was reunited with Boka at 5 am Saturday when he arrived an hour before the store opened for the day.

“He was waiting exactly in front of the doors,” Albahri said, adding he spent the next hour playing with the cat and giving him treats.

Video posted to the cat’s KediBoka Instagram account shows the kitty looking up expectantly as his owner opened the deli door to see him.

But how Boka came back is still not clear.

He went missing on July 29 when video captured a man dressed in khakis, a white shirt and a light blue hat lingering outside the store. He is seen scooping up the cat and spiriting him off.

Appeals to get Boka back, along with photos of the fiend, were posted to TikTok and Instagram. The cat’s disappearance also garnered wide media attention.

The spotlight paid off.

“There was someone who came to the store yesterday and he told me he has news about the cat,” Albahri said Saturday. “He told me he was trying to convince the guy to return the cat.”

Albahri said the Good Samaritan did not provide many details and he didn’t get the man’s name.

“I told him it’s OK for now. I just need my cat back,” he said.

By 7:30 pm Friday Boka had been returned home to the bodega.
Albahri said someone had come in and said they were trying to convince the person who had stolen the cat to return it.

By 7:30 pm Friday, the cat was once again at the deli home where he has lived since January and looked none the worse, Albahri said.

His fans even came to visit after Albahri posted the news on Boka’s Instagram page.

Albahri said Boka brings life to the store because he’s such an active cat, if not somewhat finicky.

“The cat food we sell in the store, sometimes he doesn’t like it,” he said.

Although a complaint had been filed with the NYPD about Boka’s disappearance, police said they did not have any updates Saturday on his return or an arrest.

McDonald’s worker shot over cold fries has died

A New York McDonald’s worker who was shot in the neck in a spat over cold fries has died, authorities announced on Friday.

Matthew Webb, 23, “succumbed to his injuries” after he was shot Monday outside the Bedford-Stuyvesant fast-food restaurant where he worked in Brooklyn, the NYPD said.

The attack “has been deemed a homicide,” the force said early Friday, stressing that “the investigation remains ongoing”, The NY Post reports.

Michael Morgan, 20, has already been charged with attempted murder and criminal possession of a loaded firearm for opening fire on Webb after his mother was served cold fries.

He is expected to face upgraded homicide charges, prosecutors told a court hearing Thursday, before Webb’s death was confirmed.

The incident unfolded when Morgan’s mother, Lisa Fulmore, complained to workers that her fries were cold and asked to speak to a manager on Monday evening.

When the workers began laughing at her, Fulmore was FaceTiming with Morgan, who came to the restaurant and got into a fight with Webb that spilled out onto the sidewalk. Morgan punched Webb in the face and when he got back up, he pulled out a gun and blasted him in the neck, prosecutors alleged.

His mum later told the police that her son told her “he gotta do what he gotta do.”

The suspect’s girlfriend, Camellia Dunlap, has also been charged with weapons possession for allegedly handing Morgan the gun. She was arraigned later on Wednesday and held on a US$50,000 cash bail, after prosecutors said she admitted to possessing the gun.

Morgan was also charged with an earlier murder after allegedly confessing during questioning about the McDonald’s shooting.

He allegedly killed Kevin Holloman in October 2021.

Victoria Beckham ‘can’t stand’ Brooklyn’s wife Nicola Peltz

There’s a full-on cold war between Victoria Beckham and her new daughter-in-law, Nicola Peltz, Page Six has learned.

Peltz, 27, just married Brooklyn Beckham, 23 – Victoria’s oldest son with soccer superstar David Beckham – back in April. But we hear trouble was brewing even before the nuptials.

“They can’t stand each other and don’t talk,” a source close to the family told us. “The build-up to the wedding was horrendous.”

The source says that Peltz – who is the actress daughter of New York billionaire Nelson Peltz – didn’t want her soon-to-be-mother-in-law “to be any part of the planning, and she wouldn’t clue Victoria in on anything. Communication was minimal.”

Apparently, the cold shoulder didn’t help Posh Spice, 48 – who was struggling to warm up to the new member of the family as it was – see Peltz’s good side.

They added that it’s become “non-stop petty drama,” and it’s coming between the Beckhams, who now live in Miami, and their model son.

“They haven’t spoken to him much in the last few months,” said a source, who told us that it even went over badly at Chez Becks when Brooklyn posted a cover of British magazine Tatler that called Peltz “The New Mrs Beckham” .

The sources suspect that Peltz may be suffering from a little jealousy about her man’s globally renowned mum, and isn’t thrilled with the attention she gets, especially around her wedding day.

Peltz and Victoria Beckham were contacted for comment.

NYC McDonald’s worker shot over fries is brain dead, accused gunman held without bail

The McDonald’s worker who was shot in the neck over cold french fries is brain-dead and on life support, prosecutors said Thursday, as a Brooklyn judge ordered his alleged assailant held without bail.

Michael Morgan, 20, is expected to face upgraded homicide charges for Monday’s Bedford-Stuyvesant shooting, in which he allegedly blasted victim Matthew Webb, 23, shortly after an argument about the French fries served to the suspect’s mother, prosecutors said.

“Your Honor, the people anticipate a homicide charge on this case given the victim is currently on life support. The victim has been transported to Brookdale Hospital and has been brain-dead,” Brooklyn Assistant District Attorney Luis Paternina told Judge Inga O’Neale during Morgan’s arraignment on attempted murder charges.

“The family now has to make the difficult decision [to take him off life support].”

Morgan, who was cuffed behind his back, looked down during the brief proceeding and didn’t speak.

Webb was serving at the Fulton Street eatery on Monday evening when Morgan’s mom, Lisa Fulmore, complained to workers that her fries were cold and asked to speak to a manager.

The suspect’s girlfriend, Camellia Dunlap, has also been charged in connection with the case after she allegedly handed Morgan the gun prior to the shooting, prosecutors said.

Morgan was taken into custody at his home Monday night and following hours of questioning, he confessed to the shooting and an unrelated 2020 homicide a few blocks from the McDonald’s that left Kevin Holloman, 28, dead, prosecutors alleged.

Holloman was outside a Herkimer Street building with his cousin that October when Morgan allegedly fatally shot him, prosecutors said.

Morgan was arrested for the shooting and is being held without bail.

A few days prior, Morgan and Holloman’s cousin got into an altercation and when the relative took out a knife to cut up some marijuana, the suspect ran out of the apartment and began shooting, prosecutors alleged.

The cousin wasn’t hit but Holloman was struck three times and later died at Interfaith Hospital, prosecutors said.

“He was the sweetest kid. He was not like these little thugs we have running around here. He was so polite. He was always chasing girls. That was it. Chasing girls, making jokes,” Domingo Rivera, a longtime former neighbor of Holloman, told The Post Thursday.

“[He] was a good kid. I have never got into trouble. He was always dancing and joking around.”

Morgan was charged with a 2020 murder that took place near the Brooklyn McDonald's restaurant.

Rivera, 57, referred to Holloman by his nickname “Keybo” and said after he was murdered, his mother soon got sick and died.

“I’m glad they got him,” Rivera said of Morgan.

Holloman’s sister also celebrated the news in a Wednesday Facebook post.

“The first person I wanted to call with this news was my mother and I couldn’t I’m still heartbroken but I’m happy me and my family get some kind of peace,” she wrote with a series of green and white heart emoji.

Morgan is charged with murder in the 2020 slay and was held without bail in both cases. He’s due back in court on August 8. Relatives of Morgan and Webb couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.

Mum Lisa Fulmore defends are held over shooting of McDonald’s worker

The mum of a man held in the shooting of a New York City McDonald’s worker over cold fries says that her son told her he did what he had to do.

Lisa Fulmore, 40, revealed her 20-year-old son’s chilling comments to the New York Post while describing exactly what led up to Monday night’s shooting that left a 23-year-old fast-food employee clinging to life.

“I talked to my son with the cops. My son is just saying that he gotta do what he gotta do and the [victim] came after him and whatever happened, happened,” she said.

The mother of three boys said the incident unfolded after she ordered McDonald’s on her mobile app and went to the Bedford-Stuyvesant eatery in Brooklyn around 7pm to pick up her food, which included fries.

“The fries were cold,” Fulmore said. “I asked the girl to change the French fries because the fries were cold. She went to the French fry machine for maybe 10 seconds and brought back fries, so I thought they were new fries, so I had left.

“So I taste the fries, and after I got to the third one, it was a cold fry still. So I went back to take the food back.

“I asked her, ‘Why would you give me the same fries and just put one or two on top to make me think that you gave me new fries?’ She started laughing, and all of them started laughing, acting like it’s funny,” Fulmore said.

“I was like, ‘What’s funny? I paid for food and I should get what I asked for.’ They laughed at me.

“One of them was like, ‘All of this over fries?’ So now I’m arguing with them back and forth.”

Referring to the worker who was later shot, Fulmore said: “The boy where they cook the food at was like, ‘You got all this food in your teeth.’

“So I said, ‘You wanna take it out? You’re saying I got all this food in my teeth, you wanna take it out?’”

Fulmore said she asked to speak to their boss and the workers said the manager had stepped out.

“Everybody started laughing again,” she said.

“This is when I was on the phone with my son. I was like, ‘They in this McDonald’s playing with me.’ I was like, I got kids their age, I’m not going to sit here and keep arguing with these little kids. He was like, ‘I’m coming down the block.’

“I was like, ‘Alright.’ … Then I told him, ‘No, don’t come to McDonald’s because I don’t want you to get in trouble.’”

But she said her son was already at the restaurant.

“He was like, ‘I’m coming in.’ So I came in. I heard them saying stuff to me, so he was like, ‘You all gotta back off my mother.’

Again referring to the worker later shot, Fulmore said: “My son said, ‘come outside’ to the boy in the back.”

The employee did not exit the restaurant at that point and Fulmore said she then told her son to just leave “because I didn’t want him to get in trouble”.

“So I’m thinking my son was gone,” she said. “I’m thinking it was over because my son left the store.”

According to Fulmore, 10 or 15 minutes later the male worker came over to her asking: “Where your son at?”

She said she told him her son left and to mind his own business.

“He went looking for my son,” she said. “The next thing you know, maybe like 10 minutes later, you hear a gunshot. So I ran to the door. I said, ‘Who’s shooting?’”

She said someone replied, “Your son.”

“I looked, and I saw a boy on the ground, and then I saw my son running the other way. I called 911 and then I sat there and waited.”

When asked if her son had a gun, Fulmore said she didn’t know, adding, “I don’t even know if my son did that,” referring to the shooting.

“The only thing I know is that my son was arguing with the boy and the boy did go out looking for my son.”

She said the victim changed his shirt at one point, “and he had something under the blue shirt, that’s why he put the big blue shirt on”.

Law-enforcement sources said the victim had no prior arrests and there was no indication he was carrying a weapon when he was killed.

But Fulmore, referring to the critically injured worker, said: “There was no reason for him to go outside looking for somebody. Whatever happened outside, you caused that to happen.”

Fulmore’s son is in police custody but has not been charged in the shooting.

He has been previously arrested several times, including for grand larceny in 2019 and assault and theft of service in 2018, police sources said. He also has numerous sealed arrest cases, they said.

Feds–NBC New York

Federal authorities are investigating whether a man arrested with a loaded assault rifle outside the Brooklyn home of an outspoken Iranian dissident was part of a plot to target or kill her, two law enforcement officials said.

Police arrested a Yonkers man — Khalid Mehdiyev — on Thursday with an AK-47-style weapon and 66 rounds of ammunition near the home of Masih Alinejad.

Alinejad is a well-known Iranian writer and dissident who last year was the alleged target of a kidnapping plot by Iranian agents, the FBI said. Iran has denied wrongdoing, calling the past kidnapping allegations “baseless.”

The FBI and NYPD are now looking into why Mehdiyev, 23, was seen near her home last week. Investigators said he had been seen walking around Ella’s Alinejad’s property several days last week, and at least once attempted to one her front door. She was not home at the time.

Suspect in possible assassination plot of Iranian dissident identified by senior law enforcement officials in doorbell camera footage.

Suspect in possible assassination plot of Iranian dissident identified by senior law enforcement officials in doorbell camera footage.

“Shocked to learn that an assassin with a loaded AK47 came my home in Brooklyn,” she tweeted Sunday. “Last year, the Islamic Republic, tried to kidnap me, now they want to kill me. I’m grateful to federal agents but the Administration must do more to protect US citizens.”

According to a complaint filed late Friday by federal prosecutors in the Southern District of New York, Mehdiyev allegedly admitted the assault weapon was his and then asked for a lawyer, after first claiming he had traveled from Yonkers to Brooklyn in search of an apartment.

The Subaru used by Mehdiyev had Illinois plates, and had been issued a parking ticket near the Brooklyn residence the week before, court documents said.

Mehdiyev was pulled over around 3 pm by the NYPD at the corner of Dorchester Road and Rugby Road after going through a stop sign, an NYPD spokesman said.

He was allegedly driving with a suspended license and police said they later found a loaded AK-47 in the back seat. Prosecutors said serial numbers on the weapon had been defaced.

Mehdiyev is charged with a federal weapons count. The FBI and NYPD are looking into whether he was surveilling Alinejad’s home and whether he was acting alone.

An Iranian intelligence officer and three members of an Iranian intelligence network have been charged in Manhattan with plotting to lure a US resident and human rights activist from New York City to Iran. NBC New York’s Jonathan Dienst reports.

In July 2021, the FBI said it had uncovered an Iranian kidnapping plot to target Alinejad – allegedly to take her from her home, transport her to South America and then fly her back to Iran. Alinajed was moved to safe houses during the investigation for her protection of her, officials said at the time.

Alinejad has a huge following on social media given her outspoken criticism of the Iranian regime – especially on the issue of women’s rights.

An FBI spokeswoman confirmed Mehdiyev’s arrest but referred questions to an SDNY spokesman, who late Saturday offered no additional comment beyond the details included in the criminal complaint.

Attempts to reach Mehdiyev’s attorney were not immediately successful.

Man tries to rape woman as she walked her small dog in NYC

A fiend tried to rape a woman as she walked her small dog on a Brooklyn sidewalk Saturday morning, cops say.

Video footage released by the NYPD shows the attacker approaching his 30-year-old victim from behind around 8:30 am near Woodbine Street and Ridgewood Place in Bushwick and place her in a chokehold.

He then wrestles her to the sidewalk behind a parked car.

The woman’s dog can be seen frantically barking as the man gets on top of the woman, footage shows.

The victim originally turned down medical attention but was later treated at Interfaith Medical Center, police said.

She sustained a cut to her neck and bruising and swelling to both eyes, a police source said.
