Northern Territory police have renewed a call for information in the search for a mother and daughter from Darwin who have been missing for several days.

Laura Hinks, 34, and her daughter Grace Hughes, 5, were last seen during a parental visit around 1pm on Sunday, according to NT Police.
Ms Hinks took her daughter from an address on Hidden Valley Road in Berrimah at this time.
“We are investigating all possibilities, all leads, including the possibility they have left the Darwin area,” Senior Detective Sergeant Jon Beer said.
“Our team is working around the clock to locate them and make sure they are safe.

“We continue to appeal to the public for any information on their whereabouts.”
Detective Senior Sergeant Beer said Ms Hinks’ last known address was in the Palmerston suburb of Moulden but that she no longer appeared to be living there.
Grace is described as having a fair complexion, brown hair and brown eyes.
She was last seen wearing a short-sleeved white dress, white socks and black sneakers.
Ms Hughes is described as having a slim build with a fair complexion and dark hair and dark eyes.
She was last seen wearing a white and green floral-patterned ankle-length dress or skirt with a white/cream long-sleeved shirt over the top.
NT Police have asked anyone with information on the whereabouts of the pair to contact them on 131 444.
An Instagram influencer has been charged with murder after allegedly fatally stabbing her boyfriend inside a luxury Miami high-rise in April.
Courtney Clenney, a 26-year-old OnlyFans model, was taken into custody on Wednesday in Hawaii after being charged with second-degree murder with a deadly weapon in connection April 3 death of her boyfriend, 27-year-old Christian Obumseli, the miami herald first reported. The Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office is set to hold a press conference about the arrest on Thursday afternoon, citing in a press conference that the arrest report is sealed but that a “social media personality” was charged in connection with Obumseli’s murder.
Clenney’s defense attorney, Frank Prieto, confirmed the charges to The Daily Beast and said his client had been at a Hawaiian rehab facility for PTSD. The lawyer added that they are “disappointed that the State Attorney sought an arrest warrant” and noted that his client of him has “cooperated with the investigation from the beginning.”
“We are completely shocked at Courtney’s arrest based upon the clear evidence of self-defense in this matter,” Prieto said. “Obumseli attacked her and choked her that evening; Courtney had no choice but to meet force with force.”
“We will vigorously defend Courtney and clear her of this unfounded and baseless charge,” he added.
The Miami Police Department did not immediately respond to The Daily Beast’s request for comment.
The arrest marks the largest development in the investigation into the grayly slaying. The Miami Police Department previously said that on April 3, officers responded to a report of a stabbing at the One Paraiso luxury building around 5 pm, where they found Obumseli, who worked in cryptocurrency, with a “knife wound.”
“A female was located on scene and interviewed by detectives,” police said.
Obumseli was then transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. While the details of Obumseli’s death remain unclear, a police spokesperson previously The Daily Beast that the pair “had been involved in a physical altercation” prior to the attack.
Local media reports also indicated that Clenney was detained at the scene to be taken to a mental health facility under the state’s Baker Act—which allows police to involuntarily commit an individual for up to 72 hours.
At the time, Prieto insisted that Clenney had acted out of self-defense.
“We have always offered to self-surrender if charges were filed in an effort to begin the legal process of clearing her of the charges,” Prieto told The Daily Beast on Wednesday, noting that this is “an absolute injustice to charge a victim of domestic violence and human trafficking with a crime; Courtney was clearly defending herself.”
Clenney—who boasts 2 million followers on Instagram, 25,700 on TikTok, and 41,000 more on Twitter—describes herself as “that chick from the internet” on social media accounts under the name “Courtney Tailor.” On her Ella OnlyFans account, Clenney describes herself as a “Proud Texan! Full-time fitness model and foodie living with my 2 dogs, Jesse and Ranger. I just moved to Miami so I need your positive vibes! Scary BIG change for this lil texas girl.”
On April 2, an OnlyFans post on her page read, “talk dirty to me.” The day prior, her page of her posted: “I’m not always this nasty… wait, yes I am lol.”
According to the Dallas Morning Newsthe pair recently moved to Florida from Texas, and initial reports suggested the conflict that night was not the first time the couple had had a physical altercation.
“We’ve seen her hit him. I’ve never seen him hit her,” Ashley Vaughn, one of the couple’s friends, told Local10. “From what we’ve personally experienced between the both of them, we believe that Christian wouldn’t put her in a position where she would need to stab him to protect herself.” (A neighbor told the same outlet that they had witnessed Obumseli swing at her about a week before the incident.)
Another friend told the outlet the friend group in Miami was now reeling from the news—and the reality that both Clenney and Obumseli were lost to them. “We didn’t think this is how far it would have gone,” Tahki Banks said.
In a GoFundMe campaign, Obumseli’s family said the “unconscionable” tragedy occurred just a week before his 28th birthday—and it is hard to believe “someone’s selfish act ripped Christian away from this world.” Describing Obumseli as an “extremely compassionate” person with an “infectious smile that could light up any room” the family added that they were seeking justice for the “heinous act of violence.” The family did not immediately respond to The Daily Beast’s request for comment.
“It is not enough to say we are shocked and hurting—We are utterly devastated,” the family said in the online campaign. “His murder leaves many unanswered questions and creates a void that can never be fixed or filled. Not even with time.”
The federal government has agreed to cover the multi-million-dollar cost of connecting what will be one of the world’s biggest wind farm precincts to Australia’s power grid.

Its investment arm, the Clean Energy and Finance Corporation (CEFC), has committed $160 million to connect the Southern Renewable Energy Zone (REZ), to the national electricity market.
The REZ currently consists of two projects in the Southern Downs — the 103-megawatt Karara Wind Farm, controlled by state government-owned renewable generator CleanCo, and the 923MW Macintyre Wind Farm, owned and operated by renewable energy firm Acciona.
It requires 65 kilometers of overhead transmission lines and two switching stations to be connected to the energy market.
Powerlink – the company in charge of managing and running Queensland’s power network – began constructing the infrastructure in March.
Queensland Energy Minister Mick de Brenni said CEFC will absorb the cost and that the new investment would unlock up to 500MW of network hosting capacity.
“Connecting the massive project to the national grid not only unlocks $2 billion worth of investment, it also increases reliability of power across the three east Australian states, with clean Queensland-made energy,” he said.

Federal Treasurer Jim Chalmers said the investment was a “game changer.”
“A better future is powered by cleaner, cheaper and more reliable energy,” he said
“This CEFC investment is a game changer when it comes to hooking these new sources up to the grid … and we want to see more of it,” he said.
This is the first partnership between a Queensland government-owned company and the CEFC.
Federal Climate Change Minister Chris Bowen said it would increase renewable supplies to households and businesses in southern Queensland and the east-coast of Australia.

“The best way to put downward pressure on energy prices is to ramp up investment in renewables, transmission and storage and that is exactly what this $160 million commitment will do,” Mr Bowen said.

Mr Chalmers did not commit to a time frame on when households and businesses would benefit from the infrastructure.
“Clearly, projects of this size and this significance can’t be turned on overnight and require some kind of run-up.
“But what this investment means [is] it will be delivered faster than otherwise,” he said.

The rescue of a soccer team from a cave in Thailand in 2018 captivated the world. Now it’s the subject of a Ron Howard film Thirteen Lives.
The plight of the “Wild Boars” commanded international attention soon after they were found by two British divers nine days after they vanished in the Tham Luang cave.

Massola reported at the moment the pumps holding floodwaters from entering the cave failed, just hours after the last of the boys were freed, forcing more than 100 rescuers to flee the cave complex while they were celebrating.
The rescue effort took place in a region of northern Thailand, bordering on Myanmar and Laos, which has complex culture and beliefs.
One of northern Thailand’s most revered monks visited the cave complex while families waited for news. Known to locals as the Tham Luang Nang Non or the great cave of the sleeping lady, it features a shrine to the princess of Sipsongpanna at its entrance.
Adam Goodes has turned to football in an official capacity for the first time with a place on an advisory council charged with overseeing the development of Indigenous football in Australia.
The AFL great, who has largely shunned Australian football rules since he was forced into retirement from the game in 2015, has a longstanding affection for the round-ball code and has played in a Sydney over-35s park competition in recent years.
Goodes grew up playing football and only switched to Australian rules after he and his family moved to a small country town in Victoria, where there was no junior football club to play for.
He told SBS in 2018 that he always knew he would return to football “because the love for the game has never left me”, and he will now have a chance to shape pathways into the game for young Indigenous people.
Indigenous Football Australia (IFA) – set up to oversee the strategy and expansion of Australia’s longest-running Indigenous football initiative, John Moriarty Football – aims to help create social change through the game, making it more accessible for grassroots and elite Indigenous players.
“I am really excited to be able to share my life experience in sport and business to help others on a similar journey,” Goodes said. “I am looking forward to learning from other experts who are on the council. But most of all it is about the young people and giving them the best opportunity to achieve their dreams.”
With poor Indigenous representation at higher levels of the game in Australia, it is hoped Goodes can help facilitate pathways for young Indigenous football talent to break through.
“Using sport to drive social change for Indigenous Australians … that expertise doesn’t matter what sport background you’re from,” IFA council conveyor and JMF program director Jamie Morriss said.
“We know Indigenous Australians do love AFL [football] and the AFL has done a better job [than Football Australia] at bringing through talent at the highest level. Football hasn’t achieved that just yet but Adam will potentially have some great insights into what needs to be done to become more successful in bringing through this talent to the top of the game.”
The dual Brownlow medalist and Australian of the Year will sit on the IFA council along with a number of prominent Indigenous football names, including current A-League Women players Gema Simon, Allira Toby and Jada Whyman.
Former Socceroo turned human rights campaigner Craig Foster, one of Goodes’s Waverley Old Boys teammates in Sydney’s eastern suburbs, and Travis Dodd, the first Indigenous man to score for the Socceroos, have also been named on the council, which has a majority Indigenous membership and is gender equal.
Yanyuwa man John Moriarty – the first Indigenous footballer to be selected for Australia and co-founder of the JMF – said the diversity and strength of the Indigenous-led panel were “unparalleled”.
“Each member is more than a symbolic appointment,” Moriarty said. “They all bring unique, lived experience plus skills, aligned values and goals for Indigenous football in Australia. Each member is committed to creating tangible, equitable and lasting change.”
Kanulu/Gangulu woman Toby, who plays for Canberra United, said it was “a long-awaited step in the right direction for our people”, while Wiradjuri/Yorta Yorta woman and Matildas goalkeeper Whyman said she was “incredibly honored and humbled” to be part of the initiative.
Football Australia, the game’s governing body, is not directly affiliated with IFA but launched its own inaugural National Indigenous Advisory Group last year and has had involvement with programs the JMF has run over the past 10 years.
Morriss said the IMF would be willing to work more closely with FA or “anyone who is supportive of the program we’ve been running”.
Goodes was booed out of the AFL in 2015 and has since distanced himself from the code, although he made a rare public appearance at the Sydney Swans’ 10-year premiership celebrations earlier this year.
Ten GP clinics across four states and territories previously owned by Tristar Medical Group have failed to attract a buyer and will cease operations on Friday.

“It is regrettable that the clinics must close,” administrator Matthew Caddy said.
“In the absence of buyers for the clinics, which are loss-making, we have been left with no other option.”
Clinics include those at Avoca, Ararat, Dandenong and Grovedale in Victoria, Kempsey and West Wyalong in New South Wales, and at Bruce in Canberra.
Three Northern Territory centers across Darwin and Palmerston will also close.
The administrators said doctors and staff working at the clinics had been advised of the closure.
The ABC heard that there was a potential buyer for the 10 clinics, but that deal fell through at the last minute and clinic staff were only notified of the closure on Tuesday afternoon.
The Family Doctor group on August 5 purchased 12 of Tristar’s clinics, which were mainly located in Victoria.
Bulk billing ‘unsustainable’
Tristar medical clinics offered bulk-billing patients but Royal Australian College of General Practitioners president Karen Price said it was unsustainable.
“We’ve had a prolonged Medicare freeze and then inadequate indexation,” she said.
She said the last Medicare increase saw patients get back 1.6 per cent more from the government, but inflation had gone up 6 per cent.
“Patients need to demand more from their government to support access to primary care.”
Avoca loses doctors
In the regional Victorian town of Avoca, locals face having to drive nearly an hour to access standard health services, such as prescriptions and check-ups.
Pyrennes Shire Council Mayor Ron Eason said the community was ‘extremely disappointed’ and ‘concerned’.
“It’s been eight to 12 weeks since the Tristar closed,” Mr Eason said.
“The community is desperately trying to find a doctor. They’re traveling to Ballarat or Maryborough, Clunes or Beaufort.”
He said there was some concern for the aging population in the small town, with life “difficult enough” during the pandemic.
“Avoca lost the [health] facilities four or five years ago. We built up a degree of anger,” Mr Eason said.
He said Tristar “did a wonderful job” and drew people from Maryborough to Avoca.
“That’s now gone, and we’ve got to find a medical service to replace it. What that is, I don’t know,” Mr Eason said.

Cities are not immune
Dr Price said GP clinics were struggling nationwide, particularly in areas that relied on bulk-bullying.
“[These areas are] often where there are patients with higher disadvantage, and those areas with higher disadvantage will often have more chronic disease,” she said.
“This is what we call the inverse care law, that those people least able to pay often have the greatest need for services and we are very concerned about this.
“We’re going to see more mixed billing where a large proportion of patients are charged.”
Dr Price said most GPs were “very compassionate people” and would keep trying to bulk-bill disadvantaged people.
“But certainly, there’s a lot more gap charges for more Australians.”
The administrators said a separate sale of the Mount Gambier practice was expected to be finalized soon.
With primary season heating up ahead of the 2022 midterms, TheDailyShow‘s Jordan Klepper traveled to Waukesha, Wisconsin this week for a “good old cheese and brat-fueled” Trump rally to interview a series of MAGA die-hards. And he quickly discovered that they are becoming even more unhinged as Donald Trump gets closer to announcing his re-election campaign.
The comedian tracked down voters who claim to believe in “election integrity” while at the same time supporting Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) who offered to bring a slate of fake voters to Mike Pence in an attempt to overturn the 2020 results—without any recognition of that cognitive dissonance.
“I’m not going to be a conspiracist or anything like that,” one woman insisted before using the fictional plot of the Robin Williams movie Man of the Year to prove that “they had election fraud back then.”
“Are there any lessons we can take from Mork & Mindy?” Klepper asked in response.
Then there was the man in the full Abraham Lincoln mask and stovepipe hat who thinks Trump is running the military from “behind the scenes” and said he tries to avoid consuming “the media” because it’s all a bunch of “theatrics.” That one was a layup for Klepper who replied, “And you’re not someone who gives in to theatrics.”
Later, Klepper received warnings from Trumpers about the “normalization” of pedophilia through pizza-related symbols online and agreement on Trump’s assertion that America has never “gotten to the bottom” of 9/11.
But no one could quite top the woman in the star-spangled flower crown who used the Gematria calculator on her phone to assign numerical meaning to everything from Trump to JFK Jr. to “Let’s Go Brandon.”
“So the Wisconsin MAGA-ites were turning the conspiracy talk up to letter K, which is 11,” Klepper said before ordering a slice of pizza that had “nothing to do with pedophilia.”

A record low rental vacancy rate is driving up property prices in Broome, with WA’s North West town becoming the top performing regional center for median house sale price growth in the most recent industry figures.
Real Estate Institute of WA data for the June quarter shows median house prices in the holiday hot spot increased by 4.7 per cent to $649,000 and shot up by 18 per cent in the 12 months to June.
The town was behind only Port Hedland which saw a 28.2 per cent growth in the same period.
Broome’s dire rental vacancy rate was recorded as zero by REIWA in March, appears to be forcing would-be tenants to buy instead.
Ray White Broome sales consultant Giles Tipping said real estate agents in the region could foresee the trend, even before the COVID-19 pandemic hit.
“The supply of rental properties available for all the Government departments and the like to lease was drying up every year, so we got to a point, I think it was in about July 2019, where there was probably only about approximately 40 houses available to rent in the whole of Broome,” he revealed.
“With that low supply of rental housing obviously rentals were climbing higher and higher and there was less choice for tenants so more tenants were sort of filtering into the sales market and as rent were climbing as well, it was becoming better value to buy.”
The trent was further compounded by the pandemic, with closed borders exposing Broome to a new wave of buyers from across the country, as well as a lagging building industry placing further pressure on supply issues.
“Those influences are coming together and creating this pressure for the sales market,” Mr Tipping added.
In Busselton, which was the second highest regional performer for the June quarter with a 4.5 per cent growth in its median house sales price, the opportunity to work remotely is drawing in a new wave of Perth buyers looking for a lifestyle change.

Busselton’s house median, which now sits at $610,000, is also being pushed up by interstate investors and buyers with the airport and direct flights to Melbourne a major drawcard.
First National Real Estate Busselton general manager Matthew Snaddon said these factors were fueling the market, with the popular coastal town bucking the national trend of increasing supply.
“We are having conversations with buyers and they’re making the comments that they’ve got the opportunity to work remotely so lifestyle following COVID is one of the primary factors that buyers are looking at when choosing property now,” he said.
While Broome and Busselton were the standouts, the REIWA data showed a total of eight regional centers recorded median house sale price growth during the quarter.
Additionally, all nine regional centers experienced median house sale price growth on an annual basis.
Meanwhile, in Perth, the stock of properties listed for sale in July was 4.6 per cent higher than a year ago but new listings last month were down 15.7 per cent compared to June, according to the PropTrack Listings Report July 2022.
“The stock of properties listed for sale in Perth is still down around 15 per cent compared to the average over the past 10 years. While that means options are somewhat limited, it is an improvement compared to recent conditions and the stock of properties listed for sale is up 4.6 per cent compared to a year ago,” PropTrack Economist and report author Angus Moore said.
“Even so, buyers in Perth are facing fewer options than is the case for buyers in Melbourne, Sydney, and Canberra, where the total stock listed for sale is back around, or even above, the decade averages.
“By comparison, buyers in Adelaide and Brisbane have even fewer options, with the total number of properties listed for sale in both those cities down more than a third compared to the decade average.”

On Thursday Gudinski said the music festival would “reaffirm” Victoria as the music state of Australia.
“Always Live was a dream my late father had to reassure our state’s live music roots and I am proud to be part of the team making it a reality,” he said.
“We’re delivering the largest-ever live music celebration in Australia while supporting local jobs, businesses, artists and roadies around the state,” said Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events Steve Dimopoulos on Thursday. “We’re bringing Victorians the live music experiences they love, to destinations across the state.”
