VR Design, Co-Op Stealth And Budgie Smugglers

Recently I seized the opportunity to swoop down and snatch up an interview with Gotham Knights Game Director, Geoff Ellenor. We spoke about the past, present and future of caped crusading.

Gotham Knights launches on October 25th for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. The cheapest price is currently $79 from Amazon with free delivery.

First off, great choice with The Court of Owls as your Big Bad. It’s such a compelling idea to have a society so secretive they’ve stayed off the Bat Radar. Also, to task a disparate quartet of sidekicks with taking them down. Has that been a fun situation to craft?

Geoff Ellenor (Game Director): Absolutely it’s been fun since the very beginning. We were excited about the type of Gotham we wanted to make and started bringing all these cool ideas together. The Court of Owls as this sort of insidious “old wealth” seeking to control and corrupt was one of the points that we got excited by really early, and we’ve been rolling with that since the first two months of the project.

I’ve heard that a fourth skill tree called Knighthood eventually opens up for each character. interesting name. Does that mean that one of these playable heroes – or perhaps all of them – hopes to inherit the mantle of Gotham’s number 1 protector? Or are you trying to maintain an equality of importance for them all?

GE: One of the design decisions we made early on is that you can choose to play any of the four heroes — the four knights — and answer the challenge that we started the game with, creatively. [The question here is] what is it like to have to go out there and do Batman’s job if he’s gone?

The Knighthood skill tree kind of represents a mid-game stage where you’ve accomplished a certain amount of challenges and achieved a certain amount of competence and you can now start to take on the role of being a true protector of the city. We took a certain amount of the skills (and those sort of big capabilities of each hero) and put them in this tree, behind the Knighthood Challenges to give the player a sense of earning that power level, where you begin to really step into Batman’s shoes.

Gotham Knights

Has it been exciting to create your own fresh history for this universe? And how long a grapple line/leash have you had with DC?

GE: We’ve had a very very long leash to do what we wanted with this project, which is exciting. We started off very, very early with the idea that we were gonna make a Gotham City game and we knew right away, from just the different people that we had on the team and the skills that we had in the studio, that we were interested in. in making a game you could play with your friends.

Quickly, we started looking at this group of sidekicks that have trained under Batman that are all quite capable people but still less than Batman. Then, imagine what it would be like for them to have to protect Gotham on their own. All of our design spins out of that decision. We wanted everybody to have a certain degree of bat skills – everybody can ride the bat cycle, can grapple, is agile and can drop on an enemy and effectively take them out in silence. But that’s the moment where it starts to branch out and everybody grows into being a Gotham Knight in their own way.

The most recent GK news is the inclusion of Mr. Freeze and his pairing up with the hacking/safecracker goons called The Regulators. That’s an interesting pairing…

GE: The Regulator gang sort of spun out of one of our early creative exercises. When we started comparing them against the different villains, “Mr. Freeze + The Regulators” seemed to be an early synergy. Freeze is someone who has a very close relationship with tech – he’s a bit of a tragic figure, he’s dangerous and he uses technology in a very specific way to become more powerful and to exact his revenge from him and to express his anger at the world .

Gotham Knights Mr Freeze

WB Montreal already has a great history with the character. I remember the Cold, Cold Heart DLC in Batman: Arkham Origins being a great piece of content…

GE: Yeah, that’s a long way back. There’s not even that many people [in studio] who actually [worked on Origins] still here. I think one or two of our core designers and our core animation staff worked on it. Ours was a really different take on Mr. Freez, particularly in the sense of who Freeze is. How he moves. How he fights. We’re pretty excited for you guys to see this one.

Also, it’s been revealed that you guys are using VR in your art pipeline. This is the first instance I’ve heard of such a thing. Can you expand a little on that?

GE: We got so blasé about it so quick, but I remember the day when we were all still working in the studio and I walked around the corner and there’s a 3D artist from the team sitting there with his goggles on and doing this kind of thing . I go to look around his shoulder of him and see if you can see something on the screen, and yeah — he’s making weapons [in the VR space]. That method just became such a fast pipeline for us. I mean, when we’re making new gameplay, new characters and new enemy factions and bringing in a whole new tech pipeline to build it, that’s real exciting.

I’ve seen footage where two of your demoers are being ‘spatial respectful’ of one another as they kick the snot out of goons. That said, how does GK manage a more chaotic duo — because it must be harder for the individual player to build meter and manage foes if their pal is ‘stealing hits’, yeah?

GE: So far as mediating the chaos goes, we think the design of the game works well with it. We have sort of an action-adventure brawler game with RPG elements and we’ve built our core combat around those constraints so that it works well when you play by yourself. But it works well on the network and with a buddy as well.

Gotham Knights Batgirl

Also, how does the animation system handle player on player collisions and more importantly maintaining that pleasing flow of combat. Are we phasing through one another? Is there a quick animated moment where player A nimbly tumbles over player B?

GE: We don’t actually phase through each other. There’s also no friendly fire in punching and kicking, so we don’t create the situation where you accidentally knock down your buddy as you’re trying to perform moves. We do have cooperative grab strikes as well, to allow the player to have a conscious moment where it’s like “hey, take this one” and pass that enemy to your friend. [Generally speaking,] our mechanics do kind of favor playing on each other’s wing. And all of our story missions are kind of designed in a gameplay space that fits well with one to two players.

Just along that line of “potentially too many chefs in the kitchen,” how do you handle detective moments in co-op? Obviously some players are more intuitive than others when it comes to puzzling…

GE: You’re able to play a puzzle together at the same time at least for the type of, like, investigative puzzles. So if it’s the type of gameplay where you can walk around the room, obviously you can do that together at whatever speed you want. But yeah, if your buddy finds a clue, it completes your thing so you don’t have to also find the same ones.

[Other times] you’re sort of working in this close detective investigative interaction, and in those states when you play together you’re both seeing the same stuff. The first person to solve the puzzle advances the story, but there’s also little ways of sort of implied communication. For example: if your buddy selects a clue, you know it, so you’re like “oh they think that’s interesting.”

Gotham Knights Skins

The Arkham series’ skin game was amazing, and judging from the 28 odd suits I’ve seen in GK you guys are on point already. That said, I’m not seeing any cel-shaded offering, a precedent that was set with Arkham City’s ‘Batman Animated’ skin…

GE: We’re offering a variety of visual styles, but they all kind of fit within the art style of Gotham Knights. For a bunch of reasons, some of them are stylistic, some are technical, but we really wanted to offer a ton of expression and always have you looking good. We have that kind of consistent high visual standard throughout the game.

[History-wise] there was enough for like four more games in terms of all of the different rad suits that these characters have worn over the years. Our character team has been amazing in bringing their own interpretation of some of the classics, plus a mix of crazy new stuff that nobody’s ever seen before.

Speaking of classics, Arkham Knight was a good sport in that it provided an ‘Adam West’ era skin. Would you consider a ‘Burt Ward’ Robin, rocking authentic 1960s budgie smugglers?

GE: [Laughs] We have not gone that way. I can confirm that here. But I think fans will be pretty happy with what’s there!

As we touched upon earlier, the last WB Montreal “bat title” was Arkham Origins. One common note about that game was that its sandbox was impressively large but also barren in places. Have you taken that historical feedback on board?

GE: Well, I mean, I am here really talking about the game we’re actually making this year. So Gotham Knights is not a reaction to past games. Or not a “oh, that other game got this feedback, so we should worry about it.” That said, Gotham City in Gotham Knights is a pretty dense city in terms of what’s happening. There’s always crime. The facts are always up to stuff every night. And the density of side activities and stuff to do is pretty high. So I think people will find there’s a lot of different dark corners to seek stuff to do in our city.

Gotham Knights

In combat it seems you’ve done away with the old combo timer and earnable, two-button finisher system. It appears your new focus is now on building a power bar to unleash hard-hitting abilities. I’m seeing very little penalty, combo-wise, for being hit – getting interrupted. Why did you choose to go this way?

GE: We decided that player’s mana, essentially, shouldn’t have a momentum penalty for taking hits, because you’re already losing health — you already have to worry about it. The player’s ability to gradually build momentum and use it counter was important because there are what we call ‘key unlock mechanics’ in the fight. There are enemies that do armored attacks or have a heavy shield, and it can really slow down the fight if the player can’t frequently use those powerful abilities in those cases. There’s kind of like a key and lock relationship between enemies providing a certain type of problem, and you have an ability that provides a solution. So you want to be able to use it frequently, or it becomes repetitive.

One of the things I loved about the Arkham series was battle damage across the entirety of the game. By the end, you looked like you’ve been through some shit. Does that feature here?

GE: No, we’re not. In some of those games — if my memory is correct — you are playing one very, very long night. In Gotham Knights, we have a sort of a daytime loop where you go back to The Belfry and have storytelling moments with the rest of the bat family.

Gotham Knights Robin

How does stealth work in co-op. If somebody blazes in, are you both insta-identified and locked into fisticuffs?

GE: If the enemies are aware of one of you, they’re aware of one of you. Obviously, enemies become more agitated when they’re alerted, so they can spot [that second] player more easily. They’ll have a larger vision capability and their animations change because they’re in combat, but they’re not immediately aware of anyone else until they actually have shared knowledge of the second player.

So from what little has been shown, it seems you’ve wall right back on the “hunt from the rafters” Predator gameplay. I’ve yet to see multiple goons get taken off the board by being punched out and turned into pinatas. Are we going to have the option, later in the proceedings, to disperse back upwards after an initial “swoop down strike”?

GE: Yeah, absolutely. That’s really kind of dependent on the environment that you’re in. Like with any video game, the level design dictates certain opportunities you have including the ability to return to the ceiling.

Geoff, thanks for your time.

Gotham Knights launches on October 25th for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. The cheapest price is currently $79 from Amazon with free delivery.

New Splatoon 3 video shows off new Splatoon card game

Gather your paint cans, squids. With Splatoon 3 Right around the corner, Nintendo’s released the most in-depth look at what to expect from the closest thing to an esport that the company actually still cares about. (sorry, Smash.) The 30-minute-long presentation covered (it’s a paint joke!) everything from new weapons to new stages and even featured a rough roadmap for content updates post-launch. Settle in—there’s a lot of ink to spill.

As Nintendo’s previously revealed, Splatoon 3 takes place in Splatsville, a sprawling city located in the arid desert of the Splatlands. There, inklings and octolings will plop, glop, and otherwise make all sorts of gross glooping noises as they fight to splatter paint across a variety of stages. Splatoon 3 will feature some new weapons designed to assist in this long-simmering color war. New to the game are bow-like weapons called stringers that spray paint in short bursts and a splatana wiper, a windshield wiper masquerading as a sword that lets you fling paint in wide arcs.

Squid kids will have a lot to do in Splatsville. Returning with Splatoon 3 will be the game modes you’ve loved in previous splatoon games like Turf War, Tower Control, Rainmaker, Clam Blitz, and Splat Zone. The horde mode-like Salmon Run also returns with new salmonid bosses to beat.

When you’re not playing, you can purchase all kinds of clothing items to customize your character. Some items even come with special traits that do things like increase your run speed. They don’t appear to be unlocked via microtransactions, and through a special citizen of Splatsville, you can add any trait to your favorite piece of clothing.

Splatoon 3 will also let you engage in Turf War without spilling a single drop of paint. New to the game is a deckbuilding mini-game called Table Turf Battle. In Table Turf Battle, you can collect over 150 cards that represent the many different weapons available in Splatoon 3. You deploy the cards on the battlefield, trying to take over as much of the arena with your color as possible. Details on Table Turf Battle are still a mystery but you can challenge the denizens of Splatsville to earn rewards.

splatfest, splatoon‘s recurring online multiplayer event, also returns with a new broadcast team called Deep Cut. This time, instead of having only two colored teams to choose from, there will be three, with a tricolor Turf War match to settle the Splatfest results. Prior to launch on September 9th, players will be able to download a demo of Splatoon 3 in advance of a special prelaunch Splatfest that will take place on August 27th.

Nintendo seems to have big plans for Splatoon 3. It’s expected to update the game post-launch with free content updates featuring new cosmetics every three months for two years and with new weapons added at around the same time. It also teased big paid DLC expansions, but there’s no word yet on when to expect the first one to drop.

Splatoon 3 seems like the most clam-packed game in the series. It launches September 9th on the Nintendo Switch.

Best Netflix Mobile Games to Play in 2022

best mobile games on netflix

Netflix’s gaming initiative booted up in November 2021 and as of August 2022, there are 26 mobile games to dive into, but which ones are worth your time? We’ve picked out our top 5 favorite mobile games.

For the complete list of mobile games that we keep updated every month, check out our complete list here. In addition, keep an eye on our coming soon page for monthly previews of the upcoming games to the platform.

1. poinpy

Added toNetflix: June 2022

Netflix has many simplistic games, but the one with the charm to keep you coming back for more is poinpy which comes from the creator of Down Well.

The game is simple enough in practice, you swipe the screen to guide the little green fellow up the platforms and beat enemies.

Easy to play and hard to truly master is perhaps the best way to describe poinpy, however, as it becomes increasingly difficult and takes true skill to handle all the challenges thrown your way. With that said, it comes with a satisfying progression system that ultimately encourages short bursts of play and always makes you feel like you’re moving forward and getting better.

It’s one of Netflix’s best-reviewed games with a 4.2, with users also praising its pick-up-and-play addictive gameplay.

two. Shatter Remastered

Added toNetflix: March 2022

Originally released in the early 2010s, Shattera brick-breaker game, got and is getting the remaster treatment throughout 2022 in a PC and console release set for October 2022 and saw its Netflix debut in early 2022.

The game has you destroying blocks using your paddle but the unique aspect of this game is all the other mechanics the game unleashes on you as you progress, including being able to control gravity, power-ups, and more.

The visuals continue to be particularly stunning (the team remastered them from scratch), and the music is just as good as when the original was released.

Our biggest flu, unfortunately, comes down to the controls. Given the number of things the game demands you do to at any given time, controls can feel a bit clunky. It’s more apparent when you’re required to make very precise movements which aren’t always easy on a touch screen.

3. Wonderputt Forever

Added toNetflix: October 2021

This is another game where simplicity is absolutely key as to why it grows on you so quickly. We’re all familiar with miniature golf, right? Get your ball into the cup in as few moves as possible. That’s the premise here, but there’s plenty more that the game has to offer, making it a compelling download.

The environments are easily the best thing about the game. One minute you’re playing in a circus arena, another in an underwater station, another in a zoo and another in a swimming pool setting. Each location presents its own set of challenges but more importantly, most are visually gorgeous.

Controls are simple, and given the game’s progression system, it’s easy to pick up and play when you have a few minutes of downtime.

Four. Into the Breach

Added toNetflix: May 2022

One of the many ports of PC games to mobile exclusively for Netflix is Into The Breach, which is by far one of the most in-depth games of any of its current lineup. The premise is simple up front, you control a team of mechs trying to save the world from invaders in a turn-based strategy format.

We’re pleased to report it has been gracefully ported over to mobile, retaining the same visual style that made it so appealing in the first place. The controls are also well done and intuitive despite having many different options at any time.

In addition, the Netflix version of the game comes with content unavailable elsewhere.

While I’d still suggest playing this on a PC over a mobile, if you’re looking for a deep strategy game, then Into the Breach is for you.

5. Asphalt Xtreme

Added toNetflix: December 2021

If you fancy putting your mobile device through the ringer, Asphalt Xtreme is certainly the game to do that.

The aged 3D racer features some great visuals for your mobile device. The game has you charging through canyons, drifting across dunes, and rocketing past your opponents in an unrivaled off-road racing experience.

As you may know, Netflix made this game exclusive to its lineup after beginning its life on Google Play and iOS.

The game is also a great example of the advantages and disadvantages of Netflix’s current gaming vision. Yes, there are no advertisements or microtransactions, but on the flip side, that means some of the game’s progression feels archaic, given they had to re-engineer a lot of the old systems out of the game.

Despite this, it’s a great racer and ultimately enhanced by Netflix’s gaming model.

Which of the 25+ mobile games on Netflix is your favorite? Let us know in the comments below.

Yamaha launches TW-E7B earbuds with physical buttons and proprietary ANC

Yamaha, more known for its motorcycles and musical instruments, is updating its true wireless earbuds offering. The new TW-E7B in-ear headphones are now available in the US. These wireless earbuds bring advanced proprietary noise canceling technology along with dramatic design update over the TW-E7A.

TL;DR

  • Yamaha’s new TW-E7B earbuds boast large audio drivers and the newer Bluetooth 5.2.
  • The TW-E7B headphones come with physical keys for controls.
  • These earbuds are available in dark blue, black, beige, and white for $280 price.

The Yamaha TW-E7B headphones pick up the company’s custom ANC technology that were present on its predecessor. Unlike most in-ear headphones that produce suppressed audio when filtering out noises, Yamaha claims its technology only outputs untouched music signals, thus creating better sound. Yamaha doubles it down by enabling the Listening Care feature that intelligently balances the music volume with the aid of these ANC microphones.

Yamaha TW-E7B true wireless earbuds are available in dark blue, beige, white, and black / © Yamaha

Yamaha’s TW-E7B are IPX5 water resistance and come with circular and larger bud shaped as opposed to the rounded shape of the older earbuds. What’s new also is the physical volume locker present on the right side paired with a single function key on the left. Gamers can also take advantage of the low latency mode that you can be accessed through three presses on the lower volume key. Moreover, the latest buds now utilize large 10mm sound drivers.

In terms of audio codecs, Yamaha has kept the aptX Adaptive along with AAC and SBC. However, the TW-E7B wireless earbuds now use newer Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity and Google’s fast pair mode. Both Siri and Google Assistant voice command features are supported while equalizer presets are available through the Yamaha mobile app.

Battery life and pricing of Yamaha TW-E7B

Battery life on the in-ear noise canceling earbuds is a downgrade from the TW-E7A. The new battery rating is only 22 hours using the charging, which is 6 hours shorter than the original.

Yamaha has listed the TW-E7B for price of $280 with color options of beige, dark blue, black, and white. You can already order the earbuds through Amazon. We will yet find out if Yamaha will release the TW-E7B on other markets. On the other hand, the non-ANC TW-E5B model is $20 cheaper from Amazon.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 and 5 Pro with enhanced health tracking and longer batteries

galaxy-watch-5-pro

Image: Samsung

Samsung has been making smartwatches for more than nine years and it has found its sweet spot between in-house hardware and Google’s Wear OS platform.

Two watch options, the Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, were announced during Samsung’s annual Unpacked event. The Galaxy Watch 5 is built for the masses and has no rotating bezel, while the Watch 5 Pro is designed and built for outdoor enthusiasts with the largest battery ever in a Galaxy smartwatch. For those who are saddened by the absence of the physical rotating bezel, Samsung says it will continue to offer the Watch 4 Classic.

More: How Samsung leapfrogged the Apple Watch, with a little help from Google

Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro

As someone who’s always wearing at least one smartwatch and tracks all of my running, cycling, hiking, fishing, and other outdoor activities, I am very excited to test the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro. The new watch has a 45.4mm diameter, with a massive 590mAh battery. The latter surpasses any capacity that we’ve seen from a Samsung Galaxy Watch and is 60% larger than that of the Galaxy Watch 4.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro does away with the rotating bezel.

June Wan/ZDNET

Watch 5 Pro also incorporates premium materials like sapphire crystal with a titanium case to keep it from wearing and tearing. A D-buckle sport band is included and is designed to offer rugged durability and a sleek fit.

For turn-by-turn hiking and biking directions, Samsung is will allow users to import GPX formatted routes into the Samsung Health app. As with previous generations, the Health app is quintessential to the functionality and data tracking of the watch. There’s also now a trackback feature to help get you navigate back to your starting point during hikes and walks. It’s a nifty feature that every sporty smartwatch should have.

The Watch 5 Pro is available in Black Titanium and Gray Titanium and starts at $449.99 for the Bluetooth model and $499.99 for the LTE model.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 5

The Galaxy Watch 5 sees a slight redesign from its direct predecessor, the Galaxy Watch 4. One change, in particular, is the new contact area, which has a wider surface area for more accurate reads and includes a temperature sensor to offer improved health and wellness metrics.

samsung-galaxy-watch-5

The Galaxy Watch 5 in Bora Purple, Pink Gold, and Graphite.

Image: Samsung

Samsung says the Watch 5 is made of Armor Aluminum material with a sapphire crystal glass display. Powering the watch is Samsung’s Exynos W920 processor, with 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage for music and other data. The smaller 40mm model has a 284mAh battery and the larger 44mm model has a 410mAh battery. Those numbers are fair for the simplified use cases of the non-Pro smartwatches. To charge, you can do wireless charging via the puck cable or via Wireless Powershare on a Samsung smartphone.

The smaller 40mm Galaxy Watch 5 is available in Graphite, Pink Gold, and Silver, while the larger 44mm model is available in Graphite, Sapphire, and Silver. Pricing for the Galaxy Watch 5 starts at $279.99 for the Bluetooth model and $329.99 for the LTE version.

Best of both worlds

As far as similarities go, both Galaxy Watch 5 models offer 5 ATM, IP68, and MIL-STD-810H durability, with sapphire crystal glass displays. That’s as durable as mainstream smartwatches come, and I can’t complain. The BioActive sensor sets the Galaxy Watch 5 Series apart from other smartwatches and continues to provide extensive health and wellness measurements like Optical Heart Rate, Electrical Heart Signal, and Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis. ECG is another commonality across the models and will allow users to better understand their heart health.

Bluetooth, WiFi, NFC, GPS/Glonass/Beidou/Galileo, and LTE connectivity also come provided. Wear OS powered by Samsung is the operating system, with OneUI Watch 4.5 layered atop. That means you get the best of Samsung’s former Tizen platform alongside Google’s host of smartwatch-tailored applications. Unsurprisingly, the new Galaxy Watches only work with Android smartphones — with the most optimal experience being ones made by Samsung.

Why did OTK and MoistCr1TiKaL’s Starforge Systems receive backlash from fans?

Earlier this week, the esports and content-creator organization One True King partnered up with the popular Twitch streamer Charlie “MoistCr1TiKaL” to release their very own PC-building company, Starforge Systems. As expected, the announcement was met with significant excitement from the community. However, upon the price ranges of their PCs being revealed, fans are extremely displeased.

Furthermore, many have also speculated about the lack of marketing strategy and understanding that some of the members of the group, such as Nick “Nmplol”, display, coupled with the fact that Mizkif has allegedly banned or removed users that were critical of the company .

Although MoistCr1TiKaL has attempted to pacify the lambasting comments about the company by claiming to restructure the pricing in the future, fans are still disgruntled.

Looking at what is going wrong for Starforge Systems

Fans have been breathing down the necks of Starforge Systems’ management for several reasons. The primary reason that has upset the fans is the absurd pricing that they have marketed their PCs with.

For context, Starforge’s entry-level gaming PC with the RTX 1660TI and an i3 processor is offered at a price of $1K. However, both the aforementioned components are antiquated in today’s gaming industry and to charge such a hefty amount is considered unjust.

Even though the flagship models feature the latest and most up-to-date equipment and components, their pricing of $2.5K to $3.5K is still rather high, according to many fans. Gaming experts have found that building a PC from scratch is going to cost less and interested gamers can easily save over $1K by avoiding buying from OTK’s latest enterprise.

In addition to all this, there has been severe backlash at the lack of marketing understanding of some of the OTK members. One Reddit user mentioned how Nmplol was completely ignorant of their existing market rivals, such as NZXT, who sell PCs at much lower prices than Starforge.

Matthew “Mizkif” and Zack “Asmongold”, co-owners of OTK, were also embroiled in controversy after they reportedly banned users for expressing their negative opinions on Starforge Systems.

Any provocative response on the livestream during their announcement was encountered with a permanent ban. Any viewer who commented “sell” or used stock”, or sent the “corpa” emote received a perma-ban shortly after, with some bans spanning across multiple OTK channels.

Leading up to the reveal, a few of the streamers participating in the reveal explicitly told their audiences to engage freely. However, the overall negative response to the company’s debut was evidently too much to endure, resulting in major censorship.

After a torrent of criticism, Starforge Systems has altered their prices, but not by a great extent. The opening model PC, which was initially priced at $999.99, is now available at $899.99. Prices for both the flagship models have also been reduced from $2499.99 and $3499.99 to $2399.99 and $3399.99, respectively. The pricing of their second model, Horizon Pro PC, has remained the same.

@StarforgePCs Thank you for the feedback everyone – we’re in this for the long haul and are working tirelessly to deliver the best value and experience possible. Our commitment to improve is unrelenting and we look forward to embarking on this journey with you all.

Additionally, Starforge Systems have also decided to upgrade the hardware of their most expensive PC, the Horizon Creator Edition PC. This review will see the rig featuring a more powerful GPU, the RTX 3090.

It currently remains to be seen how the fans will react to the changes going forward. Despite the heavily staunch reviews, the gaming community remains hopeful of having another functional and healthy PC-making company in the industry.

While the new Galaxy Watch 5 may not look all that different, it comes with a few key design and build quality improvements. For starters, Samsung has reshaped the curvature of the back glass and increased its surface area. This helps the BioActive sensor on the watch make better contact with your wrist, resulting in more accurate readings.

Samsung has also equipped the Galaxy Watch 5 with Sapphire Crystal Glass on the front, and the company claims that it’s 1.6 times stronger than the glass on the Galaxy Watch 4 series. The new MIL-STD-810H certification is another noteworthy improvement over the Galaxy Watch 4 series, which had a MIL-STD-810G certification. Thanks to these changes, the newer smartwatch should be more durable than its predecessor. As with the Galaxy Watch 4 series, the new Galaxy Watch 5 comes with IP68 certification for dust and water resistance and is waterproof up to 5ATM.

Along with enhanced durability, the Galaxy Watch 5 also brings some noteworthy hardware improvements and new features to the table. As seen in previous leaks, Samsung has packed bigger batteries on both variants of the Galaxy Watch 5, and the company claims that it should last up to 50 hours on a single charge. Charging speeds have also been improved, and the Galaxy Watch 5 can get you up to 45% battery in just 30 minutes. In comparison, the Galaxy Watch 4 series took about the same time to charge up to 30%.

In terms of new features, the Galaxy Watch 5 offers Advanced sleep coaching, body composition analysis, real-time recovery tracking after workouts, built-in Google Assistant, Google Maps with voice navigation support, and YouTube Music. Furthermore, it comes with a host of new watch faces, including two new watch face types with 88 customizable complications.

Lastly, the Galaxy Watch 5 packs a Skin Temperature Sensor, which can help you monitor your temperature on the go. As far as connectivity is concerned, the Galaxy Watch 5 offers Bluetooth 5.2, dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz & 5GHz), GPS, NFC, and LTE (optional).

As mentioned previously, the all-new Galaxy Watch 5 comes in two sizes: 40mm and 44mm. The smaller 40mm variant will be available in three case colors, Silver, Graphite, and Pink Gold, with Bora Purple, Graphite, and Pink Gold silicone bands. On the other hand, the larger 44mm variant will be available in Sapphire, Silver, and Graphite case colors with Sapphire, White, and Graphite silicone bands, respectively.

Additionally, Samsung will offer both sizes of the Galaxy Watch 5 in a special Golf Edition (pictured above) with a black case and black and white band. If you don’t like any of the standard color options, you can customize your own Galaxy Watch 5 using Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 5 Bespoke Studio. It offers customization options for the model, size, case color, and strap, giving you a total of 1,032 unique combinations to choose from.
