The Queen: Summer Balmoral trip cut short, sparking fresh concern for the monarch’s health

Somewhere in Aberdeenshire there is a sad Shetland pony. Named Lance Corporal Cruachan IV, the diminutive equine usually gets one moment in the spotlight a year, an all-too-brief chance to bask in the glow of global media interest during which he occasionally tries to nip the Queen or eat her bouquet.

As the mascot of the Royal Regiment of Scotland, Cruachan IV usually, at this time of year, enjoys his starring role in the Regiment’s ceremonial welcome of Her Majesty to her Balmoral estate, a traditional outing involving bagpipes and lots of big smiles and which marks the official start of the sovereign’s summer holiday.

But this year both Cruachan IV and the Queen have been kept confined to barracks, so to speak.

This week it was reported that for “reasons of comfort” the ceremonial welcome happened in private but this is just the latest sign that the sovereign’s advancing years and ongoing health woes are posing an increasingly blatant impediment on usual schedule.

News that Her Majesty would not be enjoying her yearly face-to-face with Cruachan IV just tops off what has been a bit of a rotten start to her holiday; a holiday that is already shaping up to be something of a dud thanks to the machinations of Downing Street and her wayward family.

It was only at the tail end of the Queen’s summer holidays last year, a scant 12 months ago or thereabouts, that Buckingham Palace was busy touting what a packed autumn schedule of dozens and dozens of events were planned. The message was clear: The Queen is fighting fit and ready to Queen with some seriously impressive vigor and vim! Trips to Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland were planned as things geared up towards her big Jubilee year from her!

That ambitious plan then collided with the reality of a woman fast approaching her centenary and since October 2021 we have had one cancellation after another with the diminutive monarchy increasingly retreating from public view.

We did not see her in Scotland for Cop26, at the Cenotaph on Remembrance Day, on Commonwealth Day, Easter, at the State Opening of parliament or at the service of thanksgiving for her reign during her own Platinum Jubilee.

News that Her Majesty would not be facing down the bouquet-chomping Cruachan IV has only confirmed that things are changing, and fast, for the eleven irrepressible monarch.

However, this is the Queen we are talking about, a woman whose family has, in only the last few years, faced accusations of sexual abuse, racism, accepting millions of dollars from a controversial Middle Eastern politician and the brothers of Osama bin Laden and of “total neglect”.

The dark cloud over her vacation is that, in the months to come, Buckingham Palace faces all of these particular fires roaring back to full on blaze status.

It’s hard to think of a worse headline for any brand or business than one that ties them to the family of Bin Laden, but here we are thanks to Prince Charles and his seeming willingness to accept vast amounts of money for his Prince’s Trust charity from any stray billionaire.

In July it was reported that the Prince had accepted $1.7 million from the two of Bin Laden’s siblings, a shocking revelation that came only weeks after it was also reported by the Times he had accepted $1.7 million in cash stuffed in plastic shopping bags from a controversial Qatari politician.

Meanwhile, his former valet turned charity chief Michael Fawcett is still waiting to be questioned by Scotland Yard’s Special Inquiry Team after allegations of a cash-for-honours scheme embroiled Charles’ Clarence House last year.

Interestingly, the Prince of Wales has largely weathered these damaging reports and come out only slightly reputationally dinged, with the shocking claims have not really sparked any sort of public outcry.

The same likely won’t be able to be said when Prince Harry, the neophyte TV and podcast creator who is yet to actually, err, create anything, releases his memoir later this year.

If even a small percentage of the speculation about what he might reveal and what dirt he might dish is correct, this book is shaping up to be the most devastating royal release in 30 years and since Diana, Princess of Wales started whispering in the ear of Andrew Morton.

Given we are talking about Harry – a man who went on global TV screens alongside his wife Meghan, Duchess of Sussex to accuse The Firm of racism and neglectful treatment at a time when thousands were dying-a-day of Covid and while his 99- year-old grandfather was in hospital – does anyone really think all we are going to get is a feel-good read? Several hundred pages of self-important bleating and the occasional smoothie recipe thrown in?

In Tom Bower’s recently released Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the War Between the Windsors he casts a particularly grim view.

He writes: “Most Britons could not understand Harry’s hostility towards his country and family. His disloyalty from him to his grandmother was particularly mystifying.

“No one realized how his hostility had grown during his conversations with John Moehringer, the ghostwriter of his memoirs. To secure vast sales and recoup the huge advance, the publishers had encouraged Harry to criticize his family of him in the most extreme terms possible. Easily persuaded, Harry edged towards betraying his father to him, Camilla, the Cambridges and even the Queen. And then, the deed was done. To earn out the publisher’s advance, nothing and no one had been sacrosanct.”

Or to paraphrase Macbeth, another disgruntled figure from royal circles, something very dangerous this way comes…

At this stage, all indications would point to Harry’s book potentially being the most painful chapter yet in the long and sorry tale of Megxit.

Then, there is another book, or at least the possibility of a book, that should be a very serious cause for concern for Her Majesty. Six months ago her son de ella Prince Andrew settled the civil sex abuse case brought against him by Virginia Giuffre with a payment that at the time was reported to be around $21 million. (The royal has always vehemently denied Ms Giuffre’s claims that he sexually assaulted her on three occasions when she was a teenager.)

this week The Sun reported that figure was allegedly much lower – somewhere between $5.1 and $8.6 million – and that “that was as much money the disgraced Duke could scrape together quickly to halt her civil lawsuit”.

The “cut-price deal”, according to the report, might explain why the mother-of-three Giuffre did not sign a nondisclosure agreement, meaning she is free to write a tell-all of her very own, any time she wants.

That there is even a skerrick of chance that this chapter, the most sordid and horrifying in modern royal history by far, could at any moment explode back into the headlines must be a cause for very serious concern.

All Andrew has ever done to try and manage this situation is given an appalling TV interview, showing an appealing deficiency of compassion or empathy for anyone but himself, put out a couple of statements and write a seven-figure check. If anyone thinks that this is in any case an adequate response and has drawn a definitive line under his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender, or that the public is ready to move on then they are deluding themselves.

The 62-year-old is still, and will likely always be, despised by much of the world and the appetite for seeing him embarrassed or raked over the coals is unlikely to diminish anytime soon. Cue 101 book publishers with dollar-signs in their eyes.

So too has Ms Giuffre shown a steely backbone and unwavering commitment to speaking about the horrors she experienced during her time with Epstein. There is no reason to believe that she will suddenly back down or go quiet now which leaves us with the very real possibility that she might release a book of her own from her at some point.

Even if all of these swirling worries weren’t enough to blight the Queen’s holiday, then there is the fact that she will have to cut her break short thanks to the fact that the UK will get a new Prime Minister next month. On September 6, Boris Johnson will formally resign and the Daily Mail has revealed that Her Majesty will “interrupt” her holiday to pop back to London where she will “invite”, in the quaint nomenclature of royalty, the winner of the Conservative party vote to form a government.

A source told the Email: “Her Majesty does not expect the new prime minister to travel to Scotland, so the plan is that the Queen will travel down to see them.”

So much for a regal break huh?

Balmoral is agreed to be Her Majesty’s favorite home where she used to enjoy long walks and getting out into nature but in recent years her time there has been blighted by a rolling series of crises. In 2019, August saw Harry and Meghan skip the family getaway to flit about Europe in private jets and then the suicide of Epstein. Come 2020, the pandemic was in full swing and she and Philip were cosseted inside HMS Bubble and last year the monarch faced her first summer de ella without her husband of 73-years.

The poor woman must be so tired. Not only is she still working, more than three decades after most people retire, but her family de ella is a source of never ending scandal and strain with things only looking like they are going to ramp up more.

If you ask me, and no one is, what Her Majesty needs right now is not another wet week wobbling over the moors and ruminating on how it all went wrong but needs to rally her lady-in-waiting of more than 60 years Lady Susan Hussey and abscond for a 72-hour all-inclusive gals weekend to Malaga.

Sun, sand, sangria and not having to think about all the brewing Windsor scandals? Now that’s a real holiday.

Australian brand Quay inks massive deal with Love Island UK and US

An Australian brand is celebrating record sales after landing a huge partnership with one of the UK’s most popular reality shows.

More than five million Brits tuned in to watch Love Island this year – the show’s biggest audience since its launch in 2015.

It’s since become a global phenomenon, with audiences around the world including Aussies and Americans, becoming obsessed with the bikini-clad dating show.

It’s because of this, sunglasses brand Quay Australia, decided to collaborate with the culturally iconic series – designing a range worn by the “islanders” during the eight-week show.

And after seeing how girls and guys in the villa rocked the sunglasses, shoppers were quick to snap them up, the brand’s CEO Jodi Bricker told news.com.au.

“Since the show has begun, we’ve seen a lot of excitement from our customers on the partnership, globally,” she said.

“In the UK, we’ve seen a spike in traffic each night the show airs and double-digit growth in traffic since last month.

“The styles the islanders have been loving are also influencing our customer’s choices – the top five selling styles in the UK in June have all been worn on the show.”

It’s a huge result for a brand born from humble beginnings in Melbourne in 2004 and comes after it was sold by the original founders, Linda and Allen Hammond and their son Zak, to Boston-based private equity firm Summit Partners in April last year.

As a result, the Quay team wanted to push the brand to new heights, choosing to sponsor the show to increase its brand awareness outside of Australia.

“Sunglasses are a staple on Love Island and Quay sunnies have been worn nonstop by islanders every season,” Jodi explained.

“We know our community loves the show and has been influenced by islanders such as Amber Gill, Cartier Surjan and Caroline Viehweg, who all wore Quays on previous seasons. “As we advanced our marketing strategy this year, we knew we wanted to test a new approach to collaborations with an integrated broadcast partnership, while giving our fans the best specs of their lives with a fun new collaboration collection.”

More than 25 different designs were proudly worn on-screen, including several polarized sunnies, priced between $85 and $120 – and the brand’s current bestsellers, the $85 “High Key” aviator style frames.

“We launched the Quay x Love Island collection with 16 styles that our product team designed and curated with the islanders, location and show as their muse,” Jodi said.

“Once casting was underway, the islanders were given a wide selection of sunnies to choose from – bestsellers, polarized staples, and new summer drops with vibrant pops of colour, including our official collection.

“They have all been styling themselves as they enter the villa, and we love what they’ve been wearing.

“We also get the heads up from the ITV team on special requests from islanders or events they are planning, such as the blue party, and regularly send new options to the villa for the islanders to try.”

One of the things Jodi said the brand had enjoyed so much about the partnership was seeing how the islanders wear the products, revealing there’s been several surprises during this season.

“We’ve certainly been entertained by Davide rocking his Quay sunnies over his prescription glasses,” she said.

“We offer prescription glasses and sunnies in the US, so the team is dying to get their hands on his prescription to help him solve that problem.

“We also love seeing the islanders pop sunnies on in bed, as the first step in their daily morning routine.”

While the UK season has just concluded, with Davide and Ekin-Su winning the crown, Quay is also sponsoring the US version which has just kicked off and is airing on Channel 9.

“New styles are being added to the collection each week as they appear on air, so be sure to check back regularly,” she said.

Kelis’s 20 greatest songs – ranked! | Kelis

20. Fuck Them Bitches (2006)

Hidden away at the end of Kelis Was Here – after the laid-back, samba-influenced closer Have a Nice Day – is a burst of Kelis at her most winningly splenetic, turning her attention to that perennial bugbear, the Haters: “Keep my name out your mouth,” she offers, “I’ll keep my foot out your butt.”

19. Feed Them (2022)

Since the release of her last album, 2014’s Food, Kelis has largely confined her releases to guest spots – with Disclosure and TCTS among others – but this year’s single Feed Them, a taster for her forthcoming album Dirt, was a breezy, funky return, apparently designed to highlight the need for more fruit and veg in one’s diet.

18. Sugar Honey Iced Tea (2003)

Kelis at her fluffiest – the backing track comes laden with soft soul strings and laid-back sax, the lovestruck lyrics are filled with blue skies and tweeting birds, the title line is sung in a speeded-up child’s voice – and yet there’s still a dirty joke on hand: acronymize the title and it doesn’t seem quite as sweet.

17. Forever Be (2014)

Four years after reinventing herself as a house diva, another left turn: Food was produced by TV on the Radio’s Dave Sitek, its sound an idiosyncratic, eclectic, leftfield take on soul. With its husky vocal soaring over a tapestry of strings and horns and minimal piano, Forever Be is utterly joyous.

16. 4th of July (Fireworks) (2010)

Her guest appearances are outside this list’s remit, but throughout her career, Kelis has collaborated with dance producers – Timo Maas, Moby, Richard X, Crookers – which helped to explain why her own left turn into house music on 2010’s Flesh Tone worked: poppily melodic but tough, 4th of July (Fireworks)’s commercial failure was surprising.

15. Distance (2012)

The great what-if of Kelis’s career: played on the radio, available online as an illicit rip, never officially released, the Skream-produced Distance was supposed to be the first single from an unfinished “trip-hoppy… darker” album. It’s great: a whisper of two-step garage in the beats, the lyrics about a collapsing relationship – at odds with the lush electronic backing.

14. Popular Thug (2001)

Kelis’s second album, Wanderland, was a commercial disaster: her US label refused to release it and it flopped everywhere else. Yet it’s easily as good as her debut, as evidenced by the lurching beats and smart, repetitive hook of Popular Thug. She subsequently re-recorded it with then-partner Nas, but the original, featuring the Clipse’s Pusha-T, is the one.

13.Cobbler(2014)

Having often complained about her record labels, Kelis sounded genuinely comfortable on Food. From its de ella opening studio chatter de ella to its de ella great self-deprecating gag about the artist’s limited vocal range de ella – it’s hard to imagine any of her peers de ella countenancing such a thing – Cobbler is a writhingly funky source of bountiful good vibes.

12. Get Along With You (1999)

Kelis isn’t particularly known for ballads, but Kaleidoscope’s heartbroken Get Along With You – a bittersweet slow-motion take on the very 1999 trend for R&B tracks driven by staccato riffs – showcases a suitably off-centre approach to the form: “Now I ‘m forced to roam this planet sadly,” she laments, “lonely like a loose baguette.”

11. Millionaire (2003)

Produced by imperial-phase André 3000 and as good as anything on OutKast’s Speakerboxx/The Love Below, Millionaire is a fantastic track: a clipped new wavey drum machine under scattered, distorted synths and fabulous melody. In truth, you get rather more André than Kelis for your money, but who cares when the results are this good?

10. Good Stuff (1999)

With its killer bassline, smart lyrics – “I can love you in one million ways, if you don’t like it, send it back in 30 days” – and superb guest appearance from Pusha-T (then still calling himself Terrar), Good Stuff was clever, minimal and different: in its own way, as much of a calling card as Caught Out There.

9. Flashback (2001)

Another track that escaped the commercial car crash of Wanderland to live another day, the futuristic funk of Flashback turned up in identical form on the album’s successor Tasty. Beyond the gorgeous melody, there’s almost nothing to it – a tough beat, a bit of synth – but that’s all it needs: the Neptunes at their spartan best.

8.Like You (2006)

Outside her work with the Neptunes, Like You might have the most striking beat in Kelis’s catalogue: a cut-up, twisted sample of an opera singer that bursts into a nagging hook on the chorus. Along with her soft vocals from Ella – she breaks into a laugh after a particularly forthright line – it makes Like You a brilliantly original take on a bedroom slow jam.

7. Acapella (2010)

Flesh Tone’s highlight found David Guetta unexpectedly reining in his poppier tendencies: a million miles away from his work on the Black Eyed Peas’ I Gotta Feeling, it’s a distorted, minimal electro-house banger: the ghost of Donna Summer lurks somewhere around Kelis’s performance , the chorus is fabulous, the overall effect euphoric but never obvious.

6. Jerk Ribs (2014)

The titles of Food’s tracks played on Kelis’s second career as a Cordon Bleu chef, but the lyrics to Jerk Ribs are a beautiful meditation on her jazz musician father and the way music and memory entwine: that they’re set to urgent, horn-laden , Afrobeat-influenced funk rather than something more reflective only makes them more potent.

5. Young, Fresh n’ New (2001)

A flop in the US, which seems inexplicable. This is by far the best of the Neptunes’ attempts to forge a 21st-century funk-rock hybrid: the sound of Kelis bursting forth from a mass of car alarms and grinding electronics is hugely exciting; not comparable NERD production ever lived up to it.

4. Bossy (2006)

As if to prove she could make weird hit singles without the Neptunes’ help, Kelis collaborated with the producer Bangladesh – best known for Lil’ Wayne’s A Milli – on Bossy: spindly keyboards, a plethora of moans and an 808 drum machine, over which she swaggers irresistibly: “I ride the beat like a bicycle – I’m icy cold”.

3.Trick Me (2003)

Hats off to producer Dallas Austin, who wrote Trick Me – irrepressible hook, killer lyrics – and transformed the cheesy pre-set foxtrot rhythm on a 60s Mellotron keyboard into slinky reggae. Still, it’s Kelis’s show. She sounds both seductive and steely, suggesting the song’s subject will rue his decision for her to mess her around.

2. Caught Out There (1999)

Kelis’s cameo on Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s Got Your Money had already pricked people’s ears up, but Caught Out There was one of the great attention-grabbing debuts of the 90s. The screamed refrain is what everyone remembers, but its power lies in the shift from the cold dismissive tone of the verses to the chorus’s bug-eyed fury.

1. Milkshake (2003)

Relations between Kelis and the Neptunes are at an all-time low, but before it all went bitterly wrong, their collaboration yielded her greatest song – and theirs. Milkshake is an astonishing record, made of fizzing, blaring electronic noise, an Egyptian darbuka drum and Kelis’s alternately insouciant and sexy vocal.

Who could have predicted that something this weird, experimental – and occasionally atonal – would be a global smash? And yet, who could have doubted it? Despite its thrilling sonic strangeness, Milkshake is impossibly catchy and eminently danceable: it’s like a dream about how rich and exciting pop music could be.

Alan Carr discusses the breakdown of his marriage to estranged husband Paul Drayton

Alan Carr has admitted his split from husband Paul Drayton is still very ‘raw’.

The comedian, 46, and his party planner partner, 50, who had been together for 13 years – announced their separation in January after three years of marriage.

Alan spoke about the split on Thursday’s edition of Good Morning Britain while promoting his new TV show and his recent tour.

Chatting with presenters Charlotte Hawkins and Adil Ray, the Chatty Man star explained how he found his therapeutic tour as his split from Paul was understandably still quite raw.

Dates from his tour had been postponed from 2021 because of the coronavirus pandemic and summarized this year with Alan re-writing his material following the breakup.

Speaking about his Regional Trinket tour, he said: ‘This show had to be rescheduled because of Covid; I just really didn’t want to cancel. My marriage broke down in lockdown. No, it’s fine – people’s head tilt when you’ve got bad news.’

As Charlotte apologized for her reaction to him mentioning his marriage split, he assured her he was comfortable carrying on with the topic and added: ‘I wrote the tour and then it just didn’t make sense when I came out of lockdown because the marriage had broken down.

‘I was writing fresh and on the go, so it’s very personal and very raw, but it’s going down well.’

However, he has found being on stage quite ‘therapeutic’.

‘It does make it therapeutic. There were people that were like, oh are you going to cancel the tour? and I was like, not I need it. I get the impression people just want to laugh and I do see it as therapy and just get on with it,’ he admitted.

The pair confirmed their split back in January with a joint statement.

It read: ‘After 13 years as a couple and three years of marriage, Alan Carr and Paul Drayton would like to announce they are separating.

‘They have jointly and amicably made the difficult decision to divorce and go their separate ways. We request that their privacy is respected at this sensitive time.’

Paul then posted on Instagram that he is currently in rehab for alcoholism, after a ‘challenging couple of years’ which saw him plead guilty last November to a drink-driving charge.

He explained he had ‘proactively’ checked himself into rehab at the beginning of the year to seek help for his ongoing battle with the illness.

‘It is with great sadness that I share the news that Alan and I have jointly decided to end our marriage,’ he wrote under a sunset photo with a heart drawn on top..

‘This decision has been very difficult for us both and we part ways with great memories and continued love and friendship for each other as we go our separate ways.

‘As part of my own journey, I proactively checked myself into a rehabilitation facility at the turn of the new year in order to get the help and support I need during this challenging time.’

‘This was not an easy step to take, but I know it is the right one going forward. These last couple of years have been challenging to say the least, as they have been for so many others. But I remain deeply committed to my journey of sobriety and strength.

‘We ask for privacy during this challenging time, but I thank you all for your kindness and support. Peace and love.’ He ended the post by sharing the hashtags: ‘#sobriety #sometimesthehardestdecisionsaretherightones #newchapters #looktothefuture.’

A court case in November saw Paul plead guilty at Brighton Magistrates to a drink-driving charge after getting behind the wheel while four times over the legal limit.

He was warned that he faces jail by a judge who told him it was a ‘miracle’ no one was killed.

Paul was accused of drink-driving after he reversed into a police car, narrowly missing a mother pushing a pram, while in his Mitsubishi 4×4 in West Sussex, just three miles from the £2.7 million home he shares with Alan.

In August 2021, Paul shared a photo of himself with a black eye on Instagram and told a fan ‘we had a bad row,’ before removing it within an hour.

The next day he insisted the comedian ‘has never hit me,’ writing on social media: ‘I’m feeling very fragile at the minute and would like to say that Alan would not and has never hit me. And I’m devastated that he has to deal with this today.’

Alan confirmed in a statement shortly after his husband posted the black eye image the injury was a result of him ‘being back on the wagon’ and he had not been involved in the incident.

Alan said he was trying to get his husband the ‘help he needs’ after he started drinking again.

The comedian told how his significant other ‘fell off the wagon’ while Alan was away filming in Wales, but that he was working with Paul to help him.

The chat show host said: ‘While I was away filming on location the past few weeks, Paul fell off the wagon and started drinking again. When I arrived back home from Wales, Paul was covered in scratches and bruises from a drinking binge.

‘We are now working together to get the help he needs to get better which is our number one priority right now.’

An insider has told MailOnline that the couple’s relationship never recovered after the incident.

The ‘Peach Dad’ meme that’s dividing the internet.

Starr’s work went viral as many users began sharing and editing her original peach illustration, adding comments like: “Divorcing my husband because he has the audacity to eat the food in our house.”

Initially, Starr responded by creating an ‘eat the damn peach’ illustration to highlight she was well aware of her own martyrdom.

But the Twitter response to the ‘peach husband’ meme quickly went from observational humor about marriages to personal attacks and death threats.

Thousands of Momlife_Comics followers have added supportive comment’s on Starr’s statement, such as Joanna Goddard, fellow mum and founder of lifestyle website ‘Cup of Jo’.

“It is very, very lonely to feel a certain way while assuming you’re the only one,” Jo wrote on Instagram under Starr’s post.

“And your comics make us feel like a community! A life force! Not alone at all!!! And putting words to these feelings can help change minds and change ingrained patterns and change marriages and change lives. You do important work.”

Writing for the DailyDotJournalist Gavia Baker-Whitelaw believes that the intended audience is everything.

“Momlife presents a depressingly negative view of marriage and parenthood, which is why it went viral on both Twitter and Instagram. But the two audiences came at it from different angles.”

Starr agrees, saying that her intention has always been to build a community of like-minded people on Instagram and that context is everything.

“The community that we have built here is about making each other feel seen and less alone in the challenging parts of motherhood. I don’t go on and on about the amazing parts of being a wife and mother because among us mums, those are a given. OF COURSE we love our children (and our husbands) more than we could ever put into words. OF COURSE we wouldn’t trade our lives for anything in the world. And yet many of us also feel unsupported, unseen, and /or under-appreciated by our society and in some cases, our partners.

“Let’s refocus our attention on the importance of online communities like this one in making mothers feel supported, understood, heard, and seen.

“Hopefully, this will also make it clear to anyone who visits this page that it is not about husband-bashing but about pointing out the mental load of motherhood and the unequal expectations for mums vs. dads in our culture.”

Anne Heche on life support, ‘not expected’ to survive injuries suffered in car crash

Anne Heche is on life support after suffering a brain injury in a fiery crash a week ago and her survival is not expected, according to a statement from a representative.

The actor — who is in a coma and in critical condition — is being kept on life support for possible organ donation, according to the statement released Thursday night on behalf of her family and friends.

Heche — who’s been hospitalized at the Grossman Burn Center at West Hills hospital north of Los Angeles — suffered a “severe anoxic brain injury,” the statement said.

Such an injury is caused by a sustained lack of oxygen to the brain.

“She is not expected to survive,” the statement said.

“It has long been her choice to donate her organs and she is being kept on life support to determine if any are viable.”

On the morning of August 5, Heche’s car smashed into a house in a neighborhood in west Los Angeles and a fire erupted, with the car embedded inside the home.

Earlier on Thursday, local time, police said they were investigating Heche for driving under the influence.

Detectives with a search warrant took a sample of her blood and found narcotics in her system, LAPD spokesperson Officer Jeff Lee said.

Toxicology tests — which can take weeks to complete — must be performed to identify the drugs more clearly and to differentiate them from any medication she may have been given for treatment at the hospital.

Evidence is still being gathered from the crash, police said, and they would present a case to prosecutors if it is warranted when the investigation is complete.

A representative for Heche declined comment on the investigation.

On Tuesday, Heche spokesperson Heather Duffy Boylston said her client had been in a coma since after the accident, with burns that required surgery and lung injuries that required the use of a ventilator to breathe.

“Anne had a huge heart and touched everyone she met with her generous spirit. More than her extraordinary talent, she saw spreading kindness and joy as her life’s work — especially moving the needle for acceptance of who you love,” Thursday’s statement said.

“She will be remembered for her courageous honesty and dearly missed for her light.”

Heche, 53, was among the most-prominent film stars in Hollywood in the late 1990s, playing opposite actors including Johnny Depp (Donnie Brasco) and Harrison Ford (Six Days, Seven Nights).

Her relationship with Ellen DeGeneres from 1997 to 2000 heightened her fame and brought immense public scrutiny.

In a 2001 memoir, she discussed her lifelong struggles with mental health.

She recently had recurring roles on the TV series Chicago PD and All Rise and, in 2020, was a contestant on Dancing With the Stars.

Kyle gives Jackie O first look at baby Otto

One day on from the birth of his first child, radio host Kyle Sandilands has given his co-host Jackie O her first look at her new godson.

And the heartwarming moment played out live on-air, as Sandilands brought cameras inside the hospital to see how his fiance Tegan Kynaston and their newborn son Otto were both doing.

Sandilands told listeners he didn’t cry during the birth, but that it was “an overwhelming feeling,” particularly as Tegan had a cesarean section, which “petrified” him.

“They put up a sheet, and then I could see (her) intestines,” he said.

Sandilands then wheeled baby Otto into view, the newborn looking peaceful as he slept in a cot.

Also making a brief appearance on camera: Kyle’s Tegan, dressed in a black silk gown and up and walking just a day after her C-section birth.

“Oh my god, she looks fabulous,” said Jackie O.

“I said, it looks like you’ve had a baby on Day of Our Lives,” Kyle said.

Kyle, a first-time dad at 51, was beaming with pride as he told his longtime co-host about his plans for fatherhood.

“You are going to give Otto the life you always wanted. The chandeliers, the gold crib, and everything gold,” said Jackie O.

Tegan went into labor midway through Thursday’s episode of The Kyle and Jackie O Showforcing Kyle off-air as he made a desperate dash to the hospital to be by her side.

“I think I might have to leave the show… and go to the hospital,” he said.

“Oh, it’s time!” said his elated co-host.

“Calm down, we don’t want the kid coming too soon,” he said. “Guys, I’m so sorry. I feel very unprepared. I’ve got to run … I feel like I’m abandoning you, but I’m there for my child.”

A short time later came the happy news: All had gone well and Kyle and Tegan were now proud parents to baby Otto.

Speaking on-air today, Sandilands revealed the couple had organized an at-home nurse to stay with them when the new family leaves hospital.

And that house is a sprawling Bellevue Hill mansion that Sandilands paid a whopping $13.8m for in June.

The family’s new home features five bedrooms, six bathrooms, a two-car garage, a plunge pool, spacious wine cellar, and lift access to all four of its spacious levels.

Kyle and Tegan announced they were expecting back in February – the same month they had an extravagant gender reveal party on a yacht in Sydney Harbour, where they announced they were having a boy.
