AFL 2022: Makeup-free Nadia Bartel steps out in activewear in Melbourne

Nadia Bartel put on a brave face on Monday as she stepped out in Melbourne a week after being accused of pretending to have flaws in a bid to ‘stay relevant’.

The former WAG-turned-fashion designer went makeup free and donned all-black activewear while running errands near her multimillion-dollar home.

The mother of two, 37, wore a $150 fleece and $110 leggings from her label Henne.

She carried her belongings in a black handbag and added a pair of casual sneakers.

Nadia sported a deep golden tan, and wore her long brunette hair loosely.

The ex-wife of retired Geelong star Jimmy Bartel appeared a little distracted as she glanced nervously at her iPhone.

Nadia was last week forced to defend herself after trolls criticized her for posting a photo of her ‘mummy tummy’ on Instagram.

She raised eyebrows after she shared a video of her smooth midsection, which she followed up with a ‘realistic’ photo of her stomach skin bunching up as she sat down.

‘My tum today that has carried two boys. Don’t forget that you always see the angles that people want you to see online so be kind to yourself,’ she captioned the post.

Unfortunately, Nadia’s empowering message fell flat, with some followers accusing her of overstating her ‘flaws’ in order to seem more relatable.

She returned to Instagram last Monday to defend herself against the naysayers.

‘I’ve had a lot of comments and messages… mostly a lot of them positive, but quite a few of them thinking I’m just posting that to try to stay relevant, and that I’m not sending the right message posting it,’ she said in a video recorded in her car.

‘I didn’t think about it too much, to be honest. It was basically just that I get a lot of messages from people thinking I look really fit and my stomach is really toned and flat, but the reality is that it’s just the same as most other mums out there.’

‘Once you have a few babies, you have loose skin on your stomach. It doesn’t matter how much you work out’, Nadia added.

She reminded fans that not everything they see on social media is reality.

‘We’re always posting our best angles and that’s just human nature… you want to show yourself looking your best,’ she said.

‘But if you actually saw most of these people that you follow online every single day, you’ll see that they don’t look perfect.

‘And everyone is going through the same s**t, basically.’

Nadia insisted that even the most famous Instagram models have insecurities about how they look – including herself.

‘It doesn’t matter who you are. Try not to compare yourself to others. I know it’s really hard and I am also guilty of it,’ she said.

She concluded by sharing an uplifting message about body positivity.

‘Just know that you’re doing the best thing for yourself, for your situation, for your family. You’re setting up a really beautiful, positive body image, and you just know that every single day you’re doing little steps to make yourself happy,’ she said.

Nadia shares sons Aston, six, and Henley, three, with ex-husband Jimmy, from whom she split in 2019 after five years of marriage.

Viewers react as Today show suffers embarrassing wardrobe gaffe

Viewers react after Channel Nine’s Today suffers embarrassing wardrobe gaffe – and Amber Sherlock responds years after #jacketgate saga

It’s #jacketgate all over again!

Viewers tuning in to Channel Nine’s Today show on Monday morning were given quite the surprise when four females were seen in near-identical blue ensembles.

Today host Allison Langdon, reporters Lara Vella and Fiona Willan, plus Senator Jacqui Lambie all appeared dressed in blue during separate segments on the breakfast show.

A photo of the four was later shared via the show’s Instagram account with the caption, ‘Da ba dee da ba di,’ referencing Eiffel 65’s iconic track ‘Blue (Da Ba Dee)’.

‘Oh yeah… go sisters! What color should we rock tomorrow? Allison joked in the comments.

Fans were quick to spot a familiarity to that of Nine presenter Amber Sherlock’s ‘Jacketgate’ gaffe more than five years ago.

In January 2017, footage emerged of the newsreader berating former Nine reporter Julie Snook for wearing a white jacket.

Amber had asked Julie ‘two hours ago’ to change as the panel of three females all appeared in white.

‘Amber Sherlock won’t like you all in the same colour,’ one viewer wrote in the comments of Today’s Instagram post.

In response, Amber brushed off the saga, jokingly writing: ‘I quite like the blue actually.. I only have ownership over white.’

‘Amber Sherlock would’ve had a fit,’ another user added. To which she responded, ‘Well it wasn’t white… but…’

'Amber Sherlock wouldÂżve had a fit,' one user wrote, before Amber jokingly replied

The footage went viral after an editor sent the clip – which was captured during a commercial break – around the newsroom, before an on-air talent reportedly leaked it online via Mumbrella.

‘The editor who originally sent the clip around the newsroom got off pretty easily because they didn’t intend it to get out,’ an insider told the newspaper at the time.

In the footage, Amber says to her producer: ‘I need Julie to put a jacket on because we’re all in white. I asked her before we came on… Julie you need to put a jacket on.’

The leaked footage showed Amber (centre) demanding Julie (left) put on a jacket so the two could avoid both wearing white on TV at the same time

Julie fought back saying she hadn’t had time to change, but Amber refused to back down, snapping back: ‘Come on, I told you two hours ago.’

The former sports presenter later appeared on air wearing a black jacket, and was the subject of much public sympathy when the footage went viral.

Amber later addressed the controversy, blaming the meltdown on the pressures of live TV.

‘I was absolutely mortified, and, of course, hurt. I think I’m a kind, generous person,’ she told the Daily Telegraph at the time.

‘I am a mum, I have a family. And I was devastated. I am only human at the end of the day, and I think people forget that.’

For Julie, she said the experience had been a ‘learning curve’.

‘It’s shown me both the good and the bad in people and shown just how much we can really come together. I’ve had a lot of support here at Nine,’ she told 9Honey in May 2017.

‘Dragon Girl’ Amber Luke says people tell her she’s ‘ruined’ her good looks

An Australian woman who completely transformed herself from a ‘plain’ girl-next-door into a heavily tattooed adult model has revealed how her extreme ink and body modifications have changed her life.

Amber Luke, 27, also known as ‘Dragon Girl’, has spent $250,000 on tattoos, piercings and surgery to achieve her desired look – but says she faces discrimination in public and in the workplace as a result.

She told Brisbane radio show Robin, Terry & Kip last week that having 600 tattoos, which cover 99 per cent of her body, sometimes makes her daily life challenging.

‘I am getting very heavily tattooed, but I’m not harming anyone in the process,’ she told radio hosts Kip Wightman, Robin Bailey and Terry Hansen.

She added that everyone is entitled to their opinion, but she finds it ‘distressing’ when people make unkind remarks in public – especially when they say she has ‘ruined’ her looks with tattoos.

‘Everyone has their own opinions of what beauty is,’ she said. ‘You see these cultures [where people] stretch their necks, their ears, their lips. But at the end of the day, we all are entitled to our opinion and that’s okay.

She continued: ‘It’s very distressing to know that people have that strong opinion and they can just voice it without any repercussions.’

Amber also revealed she struggles to find a job because of how she looks.

Carrie and Fifi were dressed like typical Melburnians, both wearing black outfits.

Carrie looked incredibly chic in a knitted turtleneck sweater with a pair of black skinny jeans and black combat boots worn over the top.

Meanwhile, a hungover Fifi went for a more casual flying attire, wearing a baggy lilac top over a padded jacket.

The Gold Logie winner shared the snap on Instagram along with several others throughout the night, before revealing the next morning Fifi had a hangover.

It comes after Carrie’s recent return to The Project following her ‘family adventure’ in Britain, which some suspected viewers had been cut short.

Many had expected her to be gone for six months or more, and some even suspected she hoped to get a job in the UK, so they were understandably confused when she slipped back into her role on the panel without fanfare on July 11.

Fans of the newsreader had been in the dark about her trip, as she had never indicated a specific return date.

Carrie, 41, looked as youthful as ever and Fifi, 45, clad in a busty emerald dress

Instead, Bickmore simply said she was ‘going to be taking a few months off’ from April with her partner Chris Walker and their three children, traveling across Europe while being mostly based in London.

‘Chris and I and the kids are heading off on a family adventure together,’ she said at the time.

‘We’ve been wanting to do it for a while but lots of reasons, timing hasn’t been right, but we figure it’s never going to be the perfect time to go.’

‘YOt’s something we really want to do before my son starts his final years at school so we’re doing term two in the UK. So I will be off for a couple of months,’ she added.

As it turned out, returning in ‘a few months’ is precisely what Bickmore did.

Yet during her sabbatical some viewers feared she would never return to the Channel 10 current affairs show, pointing to various ‘clues’ suggesting she was planning a more permanent move.

For example, Bickmore said she had been inspired by fellow Project panelist Kate Langbroek, 56, who spent two years living in Bologna, Italy, with her family.

Furthermore, Bickmore had sold her five-bedroom family home in Melbourne just days before announcing her extended leave.

Some fans speculated this was because she and her family were hoping to buy a place to live in England.

Yet none of these theories came to fruition, as Bickmore returned to The Project on July 11, just three months after jetting abroad.

Beyonce fans react to Diane Warren seemingly shading the singer for using 24 songwriters

While Beyonce’s legions of fans have been enjoying her new album Renaissance – her first album since 2016’s Lemonade – some have been defending her from some supposed shade thrown her way by Oscar-nominated songwriter Diane Warren.

The 65-year-old Warren took to Twitter on Monday, asking, ‘How can there be 24 writers on a song?’ with a rolling eyes emoji.

The tweet – seemingly in reference to Beyonce’s song Alien Superstar – was not met well by the BeyHive, with fans bashing her for everything from her age to not knowing how samples work.

Her tweet – sent early Monday morning – seemingly blew up instantly, angering fans who thought she was sending some shade Beyonce’s way.

Warren tried to alleviate that notion by tweeting out 15 minutes later, ‘This isn’t meant as shade, I’m just curious.’

Another 20 minutes or so later she seemed to have figured it out, tweeting out, ‘Ok, it’s prob samples that add up the ammount of writers.’

That still didn’t stop a number of fans from chiming in, including Twitter user Lisa McGuire, who said, ‘samples and multiple interpolations! I’m a music supervisor and have the clear them sometimes.’

Another Twitter user named Dylan asked, ‘How you’ve been in the game for 80 years and don’t know how samples work?’ Warren responded, ‘Coz I don’t use them.’

Twitter user TaylorBold added, ‘Same way you have 13 nominations and no wins,’ along with a photo of her 13 Oscar nominations.

That started a brief exchange, where Warren joked, ‘But I have 13 more nominations than U’ while another fan, J, added, ‘Exactly, nominations. Always the bridesmaid, never the bride.’

Warren asked, ‘How many U got?’ as J responded, ‘Same wins as you, xoxo.’

Another recording artist, The-Dream, explained, ‘You mean how’s does our (Black) culture have so many writers, well it started because we couldn’t afford certain things starting out, So we started sampling and it became an Artform, a major part of the Black Culture (hip-hop) in America. Had that was not happen who knows. u good?’

Warren responded, ‘I didn’t mean that as an attack or as disrespect. I didn’t know this, thank you for making me aware of it. I don’t need to be mean about it.’

She also sent out a number of other tweets including one where she called a Twitter user ac**t for calling her a ‘grandma’ and another where she sent a middle finger emoji to someone who said she’s 65, adding, ‘Cool U can count. How many fingers am I holding up’

Warren seemingly conceded her argument hours later, tweeting out, ‘Ok, I meant no disrespect to @beyonce, who I’ve worked with and admire. I’m sorry for the misunderstanding.’

Beyonce herself has yet to respond publicly to any of the tweets as of now.
