Until late last month, Chloe and her fiancé James Driskill were living in Portland, Oregon, where they owned a medical cannabis farm.

‘I had a mammogram. The mammogram was benign and I had a needle biopsy that was also benign… I don’t say this to scare women, but you have to just trust your instincts.’

Olivia explained that she then spoke to her doctor and agreed to get a surgical biopsy, and was then diagnosed with breast cancer.

Olivia Newton-John death: Mystery of Patrick McDermott, one-time lover who vanished at sea

The mysterious fate of Olivia Newton-John’s on-off lover haunted the singer in her later years after he disappeared without trace – amid lurid claims he faked his own death.

Patrick McDermott, 48, went on an overnight fishing trip with 22 other people on June 30, 2005, but vanished before he returned to dry land without anyone noticing.

For almost two decades afterwards, he was rumored to be in hiding in Mexico, on the run from crushing debts.

But repeated manhunts by police, media and private detectives have never been able to find any conclusive proof, despite constant reports of him being spotted.

‘I don’t think I will ever really be at peace with it,’ Newton-John admitted.

‘I think there will always be a question mark.’

She hooked up with McDermott after her 1995 divorce from first husband Matt Lattanzi and began a nine-year on-off romance with the cameraman.

Newton-John was on a promotional tour in Australia when McDermott disappeared and it was another week after the fishing trip until it was noticed he had gone.

Crew on his fishing boat had found the American’s car keys, passport and wallet on board the boat and his car was found parked at the San Pedro marina in Los Angeles.

But still no-one realized he was missing until he failed to appear at a family event on July 6, with police finally called in on July 11.

By then though the trail had gone cold – and investigators turned up nothing.

McDermott had previously been briefly married and fathered a son, and a court had recently ordered him to pay $8,000 in backdated child support.

He had filed for bankruptcy with debts of more than $30,000, prompting speculation he’d faked his death to escape and start anew.

A Coast Guard inquiry admitted they ‘did not find any evidence of criminal action, suicide, accident or hoax in the disappearance of McDermott.’

A three-year probe into the ‘Freedom’ fishing boat found it didn’t carry out any head counts on the day of the trip, causing McDermott’s disappearance to go unnoticed.

Both probes concluded McDermott was likely lost at sea during the night.

But eye witnesses continued to report seeing him around Mexico, where he was said to be living on a yacht off the coast of Sayulita and Acapulco.

TV companies repeatedly sent teams of undercover film crews and private detectives to hunt for him and set up sophisticated online website traps to trace him.

For almost two decades afterwards, he was rumored to be in hiding in Mexico, on the run from crushing debts and said to be living on a yacht off the Mexican coast at Sayulita

One investigator John Nazarian insisted in 2016: ‘It’s rumored he was with a German national. I spoke to people there.

‘The girl he was traveling with was described as having a German accent.

‘To come up with the conclusion that he fell off the boat, and allegedly no-one saw him fall off the boat, is the most preposterous thing I’ve ever heard in my life.’

All the manhunts proved fruitless though and McDermott remained elusive.

Photographs of a man and a woman said to be McDermott and his new lover in Mexico were published in 2017 by New Idea magazine.

But the claims were undone weeks later when a Canadian couple came forward to say they were the people in the photograph.

But the mystery continued to stalk her in the years that followed, although she had resigned herself to the fact McDermott was most probably dead.

‘He was lost at sea, and nobody really knows what happened,’ Newton-John told 60 Minutes in 2016.

‘It’s human to wonder. Because whenever you go through difficult times, there’s always those concerns.

‘Those are the things in life you have to accept and let go. Of course questions always come up and that’s human.

‘But you know, I live on.’

WHAT HAPPENED TO OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN’S LOST LOVER?

Theories have raged for almost two decades about the fate of Olivia Newton-John’s on-off lover, movie cameraman Patrick McDermott, 48.

He vanished on an overnight 22-hour fishing trip on the boat ‘Freedom’ out of San Pedro marina in Los Angeles on June 30, 2005.

The boat’s crew found his car keys, wallet and passport on board after all the other passengers disembarked the following day, and his car was found parked nearby.

The crew hadn’t done a headcount so no-one noticed he was missing for another week when he failed to turn up for a family event, with police alerted almost a week later..

Since then speculation has raged about what happened to him, with investigators unable to find any evidence of a crime, suicide, hoax or an accident on the fishing trip.

Officials believe he simply fell overboard and drowned, but conspiracy theorists insist he may have had another boat lined up to meet him offshore.

Others believe he may have planted his belongings on the boat before slipping off, possibly before it even left port, without any noticing.

Private detectives set up a website FindPatrickMcDermott.com to try to trap the missing American into giving himself away, identifying the location of everyone who accessed the site.

A flurry of web traffic from the Sayulita area of Mexico’s West Coast sparked a hunt for him there without any success.

Others say they spotted him living on a yacht off the coast of Acapulco, 1000km further south.

One investigator claimed to have found him and spoken with him in 2009, claiming he just wanted to be left alone but the claim was unsubstantiated.

Another claimed to have categorical proof he was alive and was on the verge of revealing it – but never did.

Over the years there have been at least 20 sightings of him in Mexico and Central America, but many have proven false.

One set of pictures of a couple alleged to be the distinctive looking McDermott – who was half-Korean and adopted at the age of two – turned out to be a Canadian couple.

His ex-wife Yvette Nipar, the mother of their son Chance, begged for the speculation to end for the sake of their child.

She pleaded with Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos to block the publication of a book by private eye Philip Klein about her ex’s disappearance.

‘My son has been through enough emotional torment over this,’ Nipar wrote, branding Klein a ‘serial liar’.

‘He has yet to be able to move on.due to Mr Klein’s continual effort to keep him in the public eye.

‘Let him rest in peace.’

It was previously revealed that Kylie ‘didn’t want to overshadow’ the current cast of Neighbors during its finale episode.

Following criticism from fans that she only uttered two lines, producer and writer Jason Herbison explained that her appearance was ‘always going to be small’.

He said: ‘Our discussions with Jason and Kylie were always about making a small appearance. They didn’t want to overshadow the current cast or make the finale about them.’

Kylie joined the cast of Neighbors in 1986 but left the series in 1988 to embark on a pop career and went on to enjoy decades of chart success with hits such as I Should Be So Lucky, and Can’t Get You out of My Head and even teamed up with then boyfriend Jason to release chart-topper Especially For You in 1989, which could be heard playing as the on-screen couple made their return to Ramsay Street in the finale.

Herbison went on to explain that Kylie and Jason’s scenes were shot before he had even written the episode and ‘hates’ to see the Spinning Around legend facing backlash.

He told TV Tonight: ‘We also filmed their scenes before I’d written the episode, so whatever we filmed had to fit in with that. I hate to see Kylie coping any criticism – she was nothing short of amazing on the day.’

Neighbors initially aired on BBC One from 1986 until 2008 before being shown on Channel 5 and the soap relied on funding from the British network but in February 2022, the broadcaster confirmed they were to focus on UK drama instead.

‘You’re a sook “influencer,”‘ another savagely commented.

‘This season’s Tanya,’ wrote a third, referring to Tanya Guccione from last season, before another laughed: ‘Imagine leaving the block cause of the toilet paper.’

‘Weak loser,’ another savagely wrote before commenting a second time: ‘You and your husband are nobodies.’

‘Who do you influence? Perfect example of what not to be,’ another chimed in

‘It seems that someone can’t take criticism. Guess that explains why you left,’ wrote another.

However, one fan was clearly going to miss the couple, writing: ‘I actually loved your room, wish we could of seen more of what you could do.’

It was billed as one of the most shocking moments in Australian reality TV history.

And on Monday, viewers finally got to see the moment Scott Cam told the stunned Blockheads that fellow contestants Elle Ferguson and Joel Patfull decided to quit the show.

During the episode, the host, 59, was pulled aside by two executive producers who revealed the glamorous influencers decided to leave after just 48 hours of being on-set.

After being told the astonishing news, Scott informed the other contestants about Elle and Joel’s decision to leave.

‘Last night I gave you all an opportunity – an out – if you thought you couldn’t cut it on the show that you could leave if you wanted to,’ the fuming host began.

‘I didn’t think anyone would drop an opportunity like this, but I’ve just found out that Joel and Elle are on their way to the airport.’

He added: ‘They have left their show. They didn’t say goodbye, they didn’t say thanks for having us. They just left.’

‘Apparently The Block is not on brand for them.’

All the remaining contestants appeared shocked, with Sharon Johal saying: ‘It was a bombshell.’

‘Things played out, we did see in the media things about Joel’s family but we knew that happened before they got onto The Block because he had told us,’ she said.

The pair reportedly left after Joel’s mother broke her coccyx and fractured her wrist during a fall at her home in Adelaide.

Following their exit, Elle shared a photo to Instagram of the pair’s suitcases at Melbourne Airport.

‘Wherever you are in the world, whatever you are doing, family always comes first,’ she captioned the image.

But Scott has since disputed their reason for leaving, insisting that they didn’t tell producer about the AFL star’s sick mother before fleeing the set of the series.

Last week, he told The Kyle and Jackie O Show The Block would have been prepared to temporarily shut down production to accommodate the couple’s visit to see Joel’s mother if they had been made aware of the situation.

‘They didn’t mention the sick mum to us. If they had said to us we need to go see my mum, of course family comes first. We would have flown them back to Adelaide and flown them back,’ the long-time host said.

‘They spoke to our producer and said they had decided The Block isn’t on brand for them. It was chaos.’

Scott went on to say Elle also insisted on bringing ‘a lot of designer outfits’ for filming, despite a strict dress code.

‘You have got to wear the hi-vis [workwear] and the boots but [Elle] did have a lot of outfits there ready to go,’ he said.

Scott previously said at the Logie Awards that Elle and Joel giving up so soon into the competition was ‘unAustralian’ and ‘p**s poor’.

He told TV Tonight: ‘We had a 48-hour challenge to choose the house that you get and they scarpered after 48 hours. It’s something that’s never happened before.

‘Forty-five thousand people applied to be on The Block and win life-changing money. These guys got on and they just couldn’t handle the pace after 48 hours,’ he continued.

‘Which to me is a bit unAustralian! Have a go! It’s p**s poor.’

Scott reportedly told the other contestants Elle and Joel left because the renovation show wasn’t ‘on brand’ for them as Bondi influencers.

He also said they had complained ‘the toilet paper was too scratchy’.

According to reports at the time, they initially tried to stay on the show but left after they ‘couldn’t get a definitive answer’ from producers as to whether Joel could ‘come and go’ from the construction site in Gisborne to visit his ailing mother in Adelaide.

However, The Block’s executive producer Julian Cress has also disputed this, telling the Herald Sun that Joel and Elle ‘never’ made such a request.

Mr Cress added that The Block is always willing to accommodate teams during family emergencies, and once shut down production for an entire week in 2013 when the mother of one of the contestants fell ill.

The Masked Singer and The Block are labeled ‘condescending’ for airing Acknowledgment of Country

The Masked Singer and The Block are labeled ‘condescending’ for airing Acknowledgment of Country

Indigenous leaders have slammed reality shows for using the Acknowledgment of Country, labeling the gesture ‘condescending’ to Aboriginal people.

Wurundjeri elder Ian Hunter told The Daily Telegraph on Monday that the use of the acknowledgment on The Masked Singer and The Block was ‘totally unnecessary’.

‘It should only be used where appropriate such as a citizenship ceremony,’ Mr Hunter told the publication.

‘When too many people use it very lightly it devalues our ceremonial programs – it’s condescending,’ he added.

Mr Hunter’s comments come after Osher Günsberg introduced Sunday night’s premiere of The Masked Singer with an acknowledgment.

‘We welcome you tonight from Gadigal land, a place of beauty and abundance, where the sandstone meets the sea,’ Günsberg said.

Osher’s address was nothing new for Channel 10, who have made the decision to do an Acknowledgment of Country at the start of every series filmed in Australia for the past three years.

Channel Nine’s The Block also aired an Acknowledgment of Country prior to Sunday’s premiere.

And on Friday, the British actress, 63, made the most of the sunny Sydney weather when she was spotted doing the popular Bondi to Coogee coastal walk with her co-star Daryl McCormack.

The Nanny McPhee star teamed her look with a pair of tinted white-framed sunglasses and a black backpack.

Emma showed off her ageless complexion for the outing, appearing to go makeup free as she enjoyed the spectacular views.

Meanwhile, her co-star Daryl, 29, was dressed in a button-up shirt which he teamed with navy colored shorts and black sneakers.

After competing the costal hike, Emma took off her sneakers and made her way to Bronte Beach pool and watched Daryl take a dip.

The handsome hunk slipped into a pair of red boardshorts as he enjoyed some fun in the sun, with his tattooed body on full display.

Daryl recently revealed that he and Emma opted not to use an intimate coach for the film.

The new movie follows Nancy (Emma), a widowed school teacher who hires a male escort (Daryl) for a date, hoping to experience an orgasm for the first time – with the two characters sharing very intimate moments throughout.

But Daryl told how he, Emma and director Sophie Hyde chose to navigate the scenes themselves as they felt it would be more ‘special’ to do their own ‘unique’ thing, with the actor adding that things were never ‘awkward’ between them.

While many TV shows including Normal People and Bridgerton brought in an intimacy coach for the sex scenes, the trio instead chose to choregraph their own sex scenes after first becoming comfortable with each other.

In an interview with Bustle, the Irish actor, 29, said of the intimacy scenes with Emma, 63: ‘We felt like it was something we could do together, so we did. ‘It feels that little bit more special because it’s our own unique thing.

Home time: After enjoying a refreshing swim, Daryl was seen drying off before returning to his hotel

‘It started with simple things. Just talking about our body: the things we like and don’t like. There’s something about detaching judgment from yourself and just seeing the potential in your body and what it can offer you. That gives you access to step into the intimate nature of the film.’

Thanks to their rehearsals and concerted efforts to know and be comfortable with each other (Emma and Daryl enjoyed walks around the park together), when it came to the more intimate scenes, the duo were able to fully embrace the moment.

Daryl explained: ‘It didn’t feel awkward, giddy, or anything like that. We enjoyed what we were doing and felt safe doing it. We were such a team.’

With the promotion of their film, Daryl and Emma have had open and candid conversations about sex and intimacy, with the Peaky Blinders star noting that he’s learned from his character Leo that intimacy is ‘deeply intertwined’ in ‘almost every facet’ of who we are as people.

He went on to add that people need to learn to ‘get away from’ the idea that intimacy is a ‘shameful’ thing and urged that it needed to be brought to the ‘surface’ and be spoken about.

Jackie ‘O’ Henderson on Nigella Lawson’s ‘diva moment’ claiming she ‘stormed out’ over Woolies cake

Jackie ‘O’ Henderson has taken a dig at Nigella Lawson just days after the British cook failed to appear on her radio show.

Nigella, 62, reportedly refused to appear on the Kyle And Jackie O show on Friday, leaving her fellow My Kitchen Rules judge Manu Fieldel to face the radio duo alone.

Discussing Nigella’s no-show during Monday’s broadcast, Jackie told her co-host Kyle Sandilands: ‘I think she can be quite precious is what I’ve heard.’

Shock-jock Jackie ‘O’ Henderson, 47, (left) took a dig at Nigella Lawson, 62, (right) during Monday’s broadcast, days after the British cook failed to appear on her radio show

Jackie, 47, went on to speculate that Nigella may dislike their radio show due to an incident that occurred while they were working for Southern Cross Austereo back in the early 2010s.

‘I remember when we had an interview with her at 2Day FM… we were really excited about her coming in,’ she said.

Jackie claimed producers asked Nigella to participate in a ‘cake challenge’ where she would have to guess which cake was bought from Woolworths and which was bought from a patisserie.

‘That doesn’t seem like a hard challenge. That’s easy!’ Kyle interjected.

Jackie continued: ‘I know! Anyway, she walked out. And when I say ella ‘ella walked out’ I mean ella stormed out and said she would never, ever speak to the show again.’

Suddenly losing his temper, Kyle shouted: ‘She can shove it in her a** then!’

Jackie said she believes the cake saga is why Nigella hasn’t visited them for an interview about My Kitchen Rules.

‘I think that’s where it comes from, but I also think that’s being very precious. I mean, why would you get upset about that? It’s not like we’re trying to catch her out, it’s not like it’s [Nigella’s] own cake! It’s just two store bought cakes for a bit of fun,’ she insisted.

Kyle’s rage only grew, as he declared: ‘Who cares what she thinks? [She is] barely relevant anyway!’

Suddenly losing his temper, Kyle shouted: 'She can shove it in her a** then!'

‘Who cares what you think, cooking your pasta. Nothing a bit of KanTong can’t replicate. It’s the same thing,’ he added, referring to the budget Asian-style sauce brand.

It comes after Kyle slammed Manu on his radio show after the pair had a tense chat live on-air.

During the show, French chef Manu, 48, awkwardly said goodbye to Kyle after being grilled about his new co-host Nigella Lawson and why she didn’t want to do the interview with him.

After Jackie mentioned how uncomfortable the interview was, Kyle blasted the culinary star, saying: ‘Who gives as**t what he’s sick and tired of talking about!’

Kyle then ranted about Manu promising that ‘no topic was off limits’ on their KIIS FM show.

‘I’m not here to facilitate other people’s s**t. I like Manu, he can come on and I like the show [MKR]but I’m very shocked about the Nigella [Lawson] thing.’

‘The end was very awkward, I wasn’t sure what was going on there guys? But whatever,’ Jackie O said.

‘What do you mean? I think he felt embarrassed by his co-host (Nigella) let him down, ‘Kyle shot back.

‘Or he’s sick of talking about it,’ Jackie said.

During the chat, Kyle wouldn’t stop probing Manu about why Nigella was a no-show.

‘What’s her problem, apparently I hear, correct me if I’m wrong producers, the network is upset because Nigella’s team said “no way, you’re not going on that filthy show.” Our show, how does that happen?’ Kyle asked.

‘I have no idea, that’s news to me buddy! I will make sure she talks to you next time,’ Manu said with a laugh.

‘I think you’re just being upset for no reason, Kyle,’ Manu added, keen to get off the subject.

Kyle said he thought Nigella was a ‘sweetie’ but isn’t a fan of her management team.

‘Can you sort her team out…’ Kyle asked Manu towards the end of the chat, which was greeted with awkward silence.

Nigella is joining Manu on the My Kitchen Rules reboot this year, replaced disgraced chef Pete Evans.

My Kitchen Rules returns to Seven on Sunday at 7pm.

‘It was lockdowns and not being able to see my family, not being able to have the support, living in AFL hubs, having a husband that was on the road constantly and having to live under all these strict guidelines in order for him to continue to play football.’

The mother-of-two went on to say she felt ‘mentally and emotionally depleted more than anything else’.

‘It’s probably taken me till about now to come right,’ she added.

In December, Jesinta revealed that welcoming two children in the last two years has ‘tested’ her marriage to Buddy.

She confessed to Stellar that both she and Buddy have struggled to spend quality time together due to their duties as parents.

What is Postnatal Depletion?

According to Bellybelly.com, postnatal depletion is a condition that involves both physical and emotional fatigue.

It often involves:

– Intense fatigue and exhaustion – and falling asleep without meaning to

– Lethargy

-Hyper vigilance

– Difficulty concentrating

-Anxiety

-Poor memory

– Loss of libido

– Worsening of pre-existing medical conditions

– Poor immune function

‘A lot of people don’t talk about how hard it is on your marriage having children,’ she said.

‘We really haven’t had much time just us two without the kids, but we’re a very tight-knit family.’

She continued: ‘It’s definitely not perfect, but we try to focus on being a team and facing the challenges together,’ she said of herself and Buddy.’

Jesinta also praised her husband for being a proactive and doting father to their children.

‘Bud is so hands-on and supportive, and I really missed that when he was gone. I’m really lucky to have a partner who is such an amazing father,’ she said, referring when he was away for the footy season.

Meanwhile, the couple are reportedly planning to sell their luxury home in Sydney’s eastern suburbs and relocating to the Gold Coast.

The rumors come amid reports Buddy is looking to either leave the Sydney Swans for a new club or retire from footy altogether, after he was asked to take a 50 per cent pay cut in 2023.

Jesinta, who hails from the Gold Coast, has also recently expressed her desire for the couple to live closer to family.

Rumors of the pair’s move to the sunshine state were published in The Daily Telegraph last week.

The publication contacted real estate Paul Biller from Biller Property agency, who listed the couple’s previous home in the affluent suburb of Rose Bay in 2020.

He sold their semi-detached property in an off-market deal for $3.8million and denied reports that the couple’s home was publicly listed.

Jesinta said she felt 'mentally and emotionally depleted more than anything else. It's probably taken me till about now to come right,' she added

Jesinta said she felt ‘mentally and emotionally depleted more than anything else. It’s probably taken me till about now to come right,’ she added

The Franklins currently live in a luxury ground-floor apartment located nearby, which they also bought off-market.

Jesinta sparked rumors of the move after she spoke to Body+Soul in May about her husband’s football career and the family’s future plans.

‘I think there’s still a lot of good football left in him, but it’s our dream, whether that’s in five years or 10 years or whenever, to be able to live closer to one of the grandparents and have quality time.
