Who is Alyssa Farah Griffin, the rumored new co-host of ‘The View’?

Conservative political adviser Alyssa Farah Griffin is rumored to be the newest co-host of ABC’s “The View.”

The move has allegedly already caused a rift among the show’s longtime hosts.

Griffin, 33, would be joining Sara Haines, Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar and Sunny Hostin for the daytime talk show’s 26th season, which begins in September.

In 2020, Griffin acted as White House director of strategic communications and assistant to the president in the Trump administration. In 2021, she joined CNN as a political commentator.

Her permanent seat at the talk show’s table isn’t official until Thursday when the show said its new member will be revealed. However, “The View” fans — as well as MSNBC’s Tiffany Cross and comedian Wanda Sykes — have already slammed the network for reportedly hiring Griffin.

Who is Alyssa Farah Griffin?

Born in Los Angeles on June 15, 1989, Griffin is the daughter of two journalists. Her father, Joseph Farah, was the executive news editor at the Los Angeles Herald Examiner, then an editor at Northern California’s the Sacramento Union.

Her father is of Syrian and Lebanese descent. In 1997, Joseph founded the far-right conspiracy website WorldNetDaily, known for espousing conspiracy theories — including doubts about President Barack Obama’s US citizenship.

Griffin worked for her father as the “special Washington correspondent” during and after she pursued her bachelor’s degree in journalism and public policy at Patrick Henry College.

Her mom, Judy — who’s of Ukrainian descent — has worked for HuffPost, the Associated Press and Comstock’s.

Griffin married Justin Griffin, a current MBA candidate at the Stern School of Business at New York University, in Florida in November 2021. He is the grandson of real estate developer and Republican Party activist Samuel A. Tamposi.

While acting as a guest host on “The View” in February, Griffin revealed that her father and stepmother did not attend the couple’s wedding after she publicly spoke up against President Donald Trump.

What jobs has Griffin had?

Griffin started her journalism career writing for World Daily Net. In 2010, she accepted a media internship with Congressman Tom McClintock and had a yearlong stint as an associate producer on “The Laura Ingraham Show.”

During the 2012 presidential election cycle, she traveled across the country as a spokesperson for the College Republican National Committee, speaking on the youth vote.

Two years later, she became Congressman Mark Meadows’ press secretary, then his communications director.

Under Meadows and Jim Jordan, she then became the communications director for the Freedom Caucus in the House of Representatives.

In September 2017, Griffin became Vice President Mike Pence’s special assistant to the president and press secretary.

Two years later, she was appointed as press secretary for the US Department of Defense after the position was vacant for nearly a year. She also served as the director of media affairs during this time.

She joined the Trump administration as the controversial president’s chief of staff in 2020 and became a White House press secretary that April — a job she later regretted.

Griffin resigned as press secretary on Dec. 3, 2020, which was effective the following day.

She denounced Trump over the Jan. 6 insurrection and joined CNN as a political commentator near the end of 2021.

“At no point in my entire life was my goal to be on TV and be a talking head. I know I for sure said to my husband multiple times, ‘I want to stay off TV because I don’t want to forever be seen as a Trump spokesperson,’ ” she told Vanity Fair about the gig.

“Famous last words,” Griffin added.

What did Griffin do for the Trump administration?

Griffin was an important piece of the president’s coronavirus response, the Washington Post reported.

She reinforced that report during an appearance on “The View,” telling the hosts, “My duty was to serve the American public and to serve the country, and I did my best to do that.

“We were dealing with unprecedented crises in this country, hearing we were going to have a ‘Pearl Harbor a day’ of loss of life,” Griffin explained about accepting the job during the pandemic.

“And I thought if there’s anything [I can do] to help, I couldn’t say no.”

However, Griffin said she would not support another Trump presidency, adding, “We got to move on from this era.”

What are Griffin’s political beliefs?

Griffin is a Conservative.

Although she worked for the Trump administration, she has spoken out against him, saying she quit a month after he lost the 2020 election because she “saw where this [the Republican Party] was heading.”

During the Jan. 6 insurrection, she tweeted, “Condemn this now, @realDonaldTrump… You are the only one they will listen to. For our country!

“There were cases of fraud that should be investigated,” she continued later that day. “But the legitimate margins of victory for Biden are far too wide to change the outcome. … We must accept these results.”

Although her Twitter still regularly leans to the right, Griffin doubled down on her Jan. 6 words while also bashing former White House Deputy Press Secretary Sarah Matthews in July.

She [Matthews] believed in him [Trump] like millions of Americans. On 1/6 he let her de ella & our entire country down, ” Griffin wrote in a tweet.

Has she been a guest on ‘The View’ before?

Yes, Griffin has made multiple appearances on the ABC primetime talk show after the show’s Conservative host Meghan McCain departed in 2021. Ostensibly on the hunt for someone to replace her, “The View” launched a sort of “public audition,” the Hollywood Reporter has speculated, featuring a number of prominent Conservative pundits.

Griffin oftentimes sits at the Hot Topics table, including the memorable moment she revealed her dad and stepmom did not attend her wedding due to political differences on Feb. 11, as previously mentioned.

Griffin also faced tough questions from the permanent hosts on the Oct. 4, 2021, episode while discussing how some Trump employees bought into the narrative that the election was stolen.

“I got plenty of tea to spill, ladies,” she laughed on the episode. “Here today and tomorrow,” she quipped.

Mask mandates, skipping a wedding and heading straight to a honeymoon and Andrew Cuomo are among other topics Griffin has discussed on the show.

Who else was considered for the co-hosting gig?

Stephanie Grisham, Tara Setmayer, Michele Tafoya, Ana Navarro and others were candidates for the empty seat at “The View’s” table, PrimeTimer reported.

Since McCain’s departure, producers have also recruited Mia Love, Gretchen Carlson and Eboni K. Williams, among others to temporarily fill in, but it sounds like Griffin will outweigh them all.

But she won’t be the only familiar face come Thursday. Longtime co-host and God-fearing Republican Elisabeth Hasselbeck returned to the show on Wednesday after being fired in 2013 when producers wanted to shake up the cast. However, they subsequently spent years trying and failing to bring in a Conservative who captivated audiences in the same way that she did.

“The View” will make its official co-host announcement on Thursday at 11 am EST.

Brad Pitt reveals the reason he wore a skirt during red carpet appearance for Bullet Train

Brad Pitt said he wore a skirt to a Bullet Train screening because we’re all going to die.

The Fight Club actor, 58, gave the explanation when asked why he wore the knee-length outfit to the Berlin showing of his latest film.

He told Variety on Monday night, while wearing an all-green combination, about his recent quirky sartorial choices: “I don’t know! We’re all going to die, so let’s mess it up.”

It comes after he told GQ earlier this year: “I consider myself on my last leg. This last semester or trimester.

“What is this section gonna be? And how do I want to design that?”

Pitt’s skirt was accompanied by a light brown cardigan and accessorized with a cluster of necklaces, along with sunglasses and black combat boots.

At the time, social media users have mixed reactions to the look.

“Who cares if Brad Pitt wore a skirt? A good iron was needed to the whole ensemble. Looks like I found a bag of clothes in the dumpster and put it on,” one user wrote.

Pitt joins the likes of other male celebrities to have rocked the traditionally female garment, including Harry Styles, Lil Nas X, Oscar Isaac, Pete Davidson, Russell Westbrook, Odell Beckham Jr and Jared Leto.

Meanwhile, his film Bullet Train has received average reviews so far with a score of 51 on Metacritic.

Chicago Sun Times gave it a glowing review and said: “Unlike so many of the cookie-cutter, wisecracking-assassin movies in recent memory, Bullet Train acknowledges its outlandishness from the beginning and yet also manages to connect so many dots in creative, gotcha fashion.”

Meanwhile, AV Club gave it a poor review, writer Rodd Gilchrist said, “ultimately, Bullet Train aims to be slick when it needs to be smart, and predictable when it should be provocative — effectively making all of the wrong stops at exactly the wrong time.”

Bullet Train hits Australian cinemas this Thursday.

Why Kylie Minogue only spoke five words in Neighbours’ finale

After 37 years on air, Aussie soap Neighbors ended last week – and many tuned in to see some of the early stars of the show make their reappearance.

Fans especially couldn’t wait to see Scott and Charlene – aka Jason Donovan and Kylie Minogue – return to Ramsay Street.

WATCH THE VIDEO ABOVE: Neighbors star explains his changed appearance

But they appeared only briefly, parking their red Mini on Ramsay Street before getting out and admiring their old home, then appearing later at Toadie’s wedding.

The pair was given next to no dialogue – in fact, Minogue spoke only five words all episode, three of which were “home sweet home.”

The other two? “Jane” and “Harold”.

Memes and jokes began flying: was Minogue being paid by the word and charging an exorbitant rate for each?

Having lived in the UK for so long, was her accent now too posh for mechanic Charlene?

Was she actually a DeepFake?

Were she and Donovan having trouble remembering their lines?

Now and then: Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan in Neighbors. Credit: AAP/Twitter

The answer to all these questions is no, according to the show’s executive producer, Jason Herbison.

Herbison told TV Tonight that Minogue and Donovan didn’t want to overshadow some of the more recent cast members in the finale.

And the timing of their “secret shoot” meant it had to stand apart from any of the finale’s various story threads.

“Our discussions with Jason (Donovan) and Kylie were always about making a small appearance,” he said.

“They didn’t want to overshadow the current cast or make the finale about them.

“We also filmed their scenes before I’d written the episode, so whatever we filmed had to fit in with that.”

That meant they couldn’t be part of any bigger plot line in the finale.

“I hate to see Kylie coping with any criticism – she was nothing short of amazing on the day,” Herbison said.

The producer also quashed rumors that sets at the Nunawading film site in Melbourne were being demolished.

“We haven’t made any decisions about the sets and nothing has been demolished,” Herbison said.

“We are in the fortunate position of having the Nunawading studios for several more months and we will be using the site for other productions.

“This gives us plenty of time to make provisions.”

It begs the question: Could a Neighbors museum be in the works?

Senate approves bill to aid vets exposed to toxic burn pits

WASHINGTON (AP) — A bill enhancing health care and disability benefits for millions of veterans exposed to toxic burn pits won final approval in the Senate on Tuesday, ending a brief stalemate over the measure that had infuriated advocates and inspired some to camp outside the Capitol .

The Senate approved the bill by a vote of 86-11. It now goes to President Joe Biden’s desk to be signed into law. Biden described the legislation as the biggest expansion of benefits for service-connected health issues in 30 years and the largest single bill ever to address exposure to burn pits.

“I look forward to signing this bill, so that veterans and their families and caregivers impacted by toxic exposures finally get the benefits and comprehensive health care they earned and deserve,” Biden said.

The Senate had overwhelmingly approved the legislation back in June, but a do-over was required to make a technical fix. That process derailed when Republicans made a late attempt to change another aspect of the bill last week and blocked it from advancing.

The abrupt delay outraged veterans groups and advocates, including comedian Jon Stewart. It also placed GOP senators in the uncomfortable position of delaying the top legislative priority of service organizations this session of Congress.

A group of veterans and their families have been camping out at the Capitol since that vote. They had endured thunderstorms and Washington’s notorious summer humidity, but they were in the galleries as senators cast their votes.

“You can go home knowing the good and great thing you have done and accomplished for the United States of America,” Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, DN.Y., told them.

The legislation expands access to health care through the Department of Veterans Affairs for millions who served near burn pits. It also directs the VA to presume that certain respiratory illnesses and cancers were related to burn pit exposure, allowing veterans to obtain disability payments to compensate for their injury without having to prove the illness was a result of their service.

Roughly 70% of disability claims related to burn pit exposure are denied by the VA due to lack of evidence, scientific data and information from the Defense Department.

The military used burn pits to dispose of such things as chemicals, cans, tires, plastics and medical and human waste.

Hundreds of thousands of Vietnam War era veterans and survivors also stand to benefit from the legislation. The bill adds hypertension, or high blood pressure, as a presumptive disease associated with Agent Orange exposure.

The Congressional Budget Office projected that about 600,000 of 1.6 million living Vietnam vets would be eligible for increased compensation, though only about half would have severe enough diagnoses to warrant more compensation.

Also, veterans who served in Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Guam, American Samoa and Johnston Atoll will be presumed to have been exposed to Agent Orange. That’s another 50,000 veterans and survivors of deceased veterans who would get compensation for illnesses presumed to have been caused by their exposure to the herbicide, the CBO projected.

The bill also authorizes 31 major medical VA health clinics and research facilities in 19 states.

The bill is projected to increase federal deficits by about $277 billion over 10 years.

The bill has been a years-long effort begun by veterans and their families who viewed the burn pits used in Iraq and Afghanistan as responsible for respiratory problems and other illnesses the veterans experienced after returning home. It was named after Sgt. First Class Heath Robinson from Ohio, who died in 2020 from cancer he attributed to prolonged exposure to burn pits. His widow, Danielle Robinson, was the first lady Jill Biden’s guest at the president’s State of the Union address earlier this year.

Stewart, the former host of Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show,” also brought increased exposure to the burn pit maladies veterans were facing. He was also in the gallery watching the vote Tuesday. He wept and held his head in his hand as the final vote began.

“I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a situation where people who have already given so much had to fight so hard to get so little,” he said after the vote. “And I hope we learn a lesson.”

The House was the first to act on the burn pits legislation. An earlier version of the House approved in March was expected to increase spending by more than $320 billion over 10 years, but senators trimmed some of the costs early on by phasing in certain benefit enhancements. They also added funds for staffing to help the VA keep up with the expected increase in demand for health care and an increase in disability claims.

Some GOP senators are still concerned that the bill will increase delays at the VA because of an increased demand for veterans seeking care or disability compensation.

“What we have learned is that the VA cannot deliver what is promised because it does not have the capacity to handle the increase,” said Sen. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn.

Sens. Jon Tester, D-Mont., and Jerry Moran, R-Kan., led the effort to get the bill passed in the Senate. After passage, Tester told reporters he received a call from Biden, thanking him for “taking a big weight” off his shoulder.

For Biden, the issue is very personal. He has raised the prospect that burn pits in Iraq were responsible for the death of his son Beau.

“We don’t know for sure if a burn pit was the cause of his brain cancer, or the diseases of so many of our troops,” Biden said at his State of the Union speech. “But I’m committed to finding out everything we can.”

Moran said that when the bill failed to pass last week, he was disappointed but remembered the strength of the protesters who had sat outside in the scorching heat for days.

“Thanks to the United States Senate for demonstrating when there’s something good and a good cause, this place still works,” Moran said.

Grant Denyer’s wife reacts as star stuns with revelation: ‘I never knew’

Grant Denyer has shown off an unexpected Kermit the Frog impersonation, stunning his wife Chezzi.

Despite being married for 12 years, Denyer, 44, had never before shared his “exceptional” vocal talent with his partner.

While recording their podcast It’s All True, Chezzi asked her husband if he had a favorite Disney character.

“Maybe not a Disney character,” Denyer began, “but if I was a Muppet I’d be Kermit, you know, nice, friendly, likes to sit on a log.”

He then broke into an unexpectedly accurate impression of the muppet’s character.

“Oh my god,” Chezzi said.

“That’s exceptional. Sign him up,” the podcast’s producer George Sargent said.

Chezzi told her husband, “That’s your next job. I never knew that you could do that.”

“What, impersonate Kermit?” Denyer laughed.

“Standing on a street corner just doing that?”

“And then people asking, ‘Why does Grant Denyer have a weird voice and why does he have a guitar case open collecting coins?’

“We’ll paint you green,” Chezzi joked.

“Oh my god. I never knew you could do that – I loved Kermit.”

“I’ve never done that before,” the former Dancing with the Stars contestant said of his impression.

“We’ll you’re very good,” Chezzi added.

‘Fear of failure’

Last month, Denyer suggested he was “a work in progress”, opening up about his personal struggles in a revealing Instagram post.

“Defs no expert at this but I’m always open to new ideas on how to feel/do better. Or even ancient ones for that matter,” the candid post from July 8 said.

“Meditation isn’t easy for me but it certainly does chill me out more.

“I really suffer from a racing mind that makes a hell of a lot of noise.

“My self-talk can get pretty savage, I beat myself up, worry about the future, hang on to regrets about the past and get bogged down in fear.

“Fear of failure, fear of not being liked, not being good enough.

“Generally a busy mind that makes it hard to be present for those around me.”

He added that his “mental distractions” could make it hard for him to be present and “enjoy the moment.”

“This is not meant to be a preach or a ‘look at how balanced I am’ – it’s an ‘I’m flawed, I have many weaknesses, I struggle’… and I hear you, if you do too,” he said .

The post drew hundreds of likes and comments from fans and followers, including some fellow celebs.

“Absolutely loved this post and you,” Chrissie Swan wrote.

“Love this mate,” comedian Dave Hughes added.

One fan added: “Intuition tells me that you’re witty, caring, resilient, generous and I personally love your posts.”

“Grant, you are always loved and always enough. You are a beautiful human,” another follower added.

Monica Lewinsky calls on Beyonce to make another lyric change which references her infamous affair

Monica Lewinsky wants Beyonce to remove a reference to her from one of her old songs.

The former White House intern —who famously had an affair with then-President Bill Clinton, with the scandal leading to his impeachment in 1998 — suggested the singer should change the lyrics to her 2013 hit Partition after the 40-year-old star pledged to remove an ableist slur from her new song Heated.

Tweeting an article from Variety about the change to a new song, Lewinsky wrote: “’uhmm, while we’re at it…. #Partition (sic)“

The song in question features the lyrics: “Now my mascara running, red lipstick smudged/Oh, me so horny, yeah, he want to f**k/He popped all my buttons, and he ripped my blouse/He Monica Lewinsky- ed all on my gown.”

This isn’t the first time Lewinsky has objected to the words of the song.

She said back in 2014: “Thanks, Beyoncé, but if we’re verbing, I think you meant ‘Bill Clinton’d all on my gown’, not ‘Monica Lewinsky’d.”

The former intern’s comments came after Beyonce pledged to change the lyrics to Heated, which was co-written with Drake and features the line: “Spazzing on that a**, spaz on that a**.”

Aquaman star Jason Momoa poses as flight attendant, hands out water to surprised Hawaiian Airlines passengers

If acting doesn’t work out for Aquaman actor Jason Momoa, he could pick up a career as a jet-setting flight attendant.

Lucky passengers on a Hawaiian Airlines flight were witnesses to Momoa’s first day on the job as cabin crew as he handed out bottles of his water, called Mananalu, from a trolly.

A woman named Kylee Yoshikawa, who goes by the username @livinglikekylee on TikTok, posted the clip which has now been viewed by 3.5 million people on the platform.

“My aunty sent me this vid, i just thought i’d share,” she captioned the video which had an instrumental version of Disney’s Under the Sea — very fitting — playing over the footage.

The 43-year-old even dressed the part in a gray suit complete with a pink flower tucked behind his ear.

He has since shared a behind-the-scenes clip on Instagram, introducing himself to passengers as the “water master” on board the flight.

“Mahalo @hawaiianairlines for allowing me and my team to capture this special moment,” he wrote.

“It’s a dream come true. My idea to create @Mananalu.water came to me while on a flight.

“I’m grateful for your support and it’s an honor to have Hawaiian Airlines be the first airline to partner with Mananalu. We’re on a mission to end single-use plastic. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s ‘quick unraveling’ exposed by author Tom Bowers in new interview as dinner party secrets exposed

Meghan Markle has reportedly been advised not to pursue legal action over a damning new book, as its author provides more insight into what he calls the “unraveling” of the so-called Harry and Meghan show.

Royal biographer Tom Bower made a series of claims in his book – Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the War Between the Windsors – and he appeared on Channel 7’s Sunrise on Tuesday to spill new secrets.

WATCH THE VIDEO ABOVE: Royal biographer slams Meghan Markle in new biography

For more Royal Family related news and videos check out Royal Family >>

Bower doesn’t hold back in the unauthorized biography, for which he says he interviewed more than 80 sources.

The author claims it was difficult to speak with people who viewed the Duchess of Sussex in a positive light.

Bower spoke with Sunrise hosts David “Kochie” Koch and Natalie Barr on Tuesday, and was asked a question he does not usually encounter.

Does he have anything nice to say about Meghan Markle?

“I think she’s an ambitious, successful woman in her own right, I think that she can be nice if she wants to be,” the author said from the UK.

“She’s intelligent, she’s sassy, I think she’s one of those people you take with a pinch of salt.

“Sometimes she can be nice … depending on how she wants to behave.”

Bower said that, while researching the book, he had spoken to people who worked on Meghan’s show Suits, her school friends and London friends.

While friends of the duchess painted her in a positive light, the author said her “victims” told a “different story about her than the one she wanted published”.

Barr asked the author why attitudes towards Meghan were now different from when she married Prince Harry in 2018.

“She voluntarily came to England and married into the Royal Family and she must have known what that required,” the author told Sunrise.

“She had to be part of the team and support the Queen and play her part.

Tom Bower, author of Revenge: Meghan, Harry, and the war between the Windsors. Credit: Sunrise

“And all she really did was complain because she wanted the spotlight, she wanted to be number one.

“She wanted to turn the royal family into a Hollywood celebrity game.”

Bower said he believes Meghan never wanted to stay in Britain.

“I think she wanted the title, she wanted the fame, and then go back to California,” said Sunrise.

“It was really because of that, and because she allegedly bullied a lot of her staff, she made them very unhappy,” he claimed.”

Bower also alleges Meghan “turned Harry against his family and Harry was the most popular of all the royals, besides the Queen”.

“On the whole (she) did what Meghan wanted, and not what the royal family expected… and it all quickly unraveled,” he said.

“And it didn’t unravel because she wasn’t being helped, it didn’t unravel because of racism, it unraveled because Meghan didn’t get what she wanted, which was the spotlight on her.”

Bower also makes other intriguing allegations in his book, including that Meghan made Kate Middleton cry before Meghan’s wedding in 2018 – contrary to what Meghan said in her Oprah interview.

He claimed the Queen was relieved when Meghan did not attend Prince Phillip’s funeral in April 2021.

Another claim he makes is that Meghan suspected Victoria Beckham was leaking stories to the media.

‘f***ing nuts’

Meanwhile, UK publication Express has reported that Bower claims in the book that Prince Harry’s pals from Eton had thought he was “f***ing nuts” for dating Meghan.

During a “shooting” weekend, the couple had joined 16 of Harry’s friends for dinner on Friday.

Bower claimed in the book that, like other such weekends, “Harry was looking forward to endless banter, jokes — and a lot of drinking.”

The jokes involved “sexism, feminism and transgender people”, and “Meghan challenged every guest whose conversation contravened her values”, Bower wrote.
