‘Dragon Girl’ Amber Luke says people tell her she’s ‘ruined’ her good looks

An Australian woman who completely transformed herself from a ‘plain’ girl-next-door into a heavily tattooed adult model has revealed how her extreme ink and body modifications have changed her life.

Amber Luke, 27, also known as ‘Dragon Girl’, has spent $250,000 on tattoos, piercings and surgery to achieve her desired look – but says she faces discrimination in public and in the workplace as a result.

She told Brisbane radio show Robin, Terry & Kip last week that having 600 tattoos, which cover 99 per cent of her body, sometimes makes her daily life challenging.

‘I am getting very heavily tattooed, but I’m not harming anyone in the process,’ she told radio hosts Kip Wightman, Robin Bailey and Terry Hansen.

She added that everyone is entitled to their opinion, but she finds it ‘distressing’ when people make unkind remarks in public – especially when they say she has ‘ruined’ her looks with tattoos.

‘Everyone has their own opinions of what beauty is,’ she said. ‘You see these cultures [where people] stretch their necks, their ears, their lips. But at the end of the day, we all are entitled to our opinion and that’s okay.

‘But, what gets to me is when someone expresses their opinion to me in public and comes up to me and says, “Oh, you’re ugly,” or, “You’ve ruined yourself.”‘

She continued: ‘It’s very distressing to know that people have that strong opinion and they can just voice it without any repercussions.’

Amber also revealed she struggles to find a job because of how she looks.

‘I’m not going to sugar coat it, it has limited my [employment] options but that’s okay,’ she said.

‘Because the way I see it is, I don’t want to work for a company that’s shallow-minded [and can’t] look past my image.

‘They won’t look at my work ethic, they won’t look at my morals or my values or what I have to bring to the table.’

Amber previously said having so many tattoos and body modifications was ‘worth it’ because she’d learned ‘how resilient I am’ by pushing her body to the extreme.

She also said she’d gone into shock and had fits during some procedures, despite not being epileptic.

‘I was 16 when I got my first tattoo. It was a negative energy release. It was a milestone for me,’ she told Studio 10 last month.

She also admitted to getting her tongue split twice, after the procedure didn’t work the first time.

She described the pain as ‘excruciating’ when she had the procedure redone, as the modifier had to cut through scar tissue.

‘The experience I went through made me extremely resilient and so strong. I have gained so much knowledge about anatomy,’ she said.

‘I’ve gone into shock so many times. I’ve had fits – and I’m not epileptic’.

She has also spent $70,000 on extreme body modifications – including a tongue split, breast augmentation, cheek and lip fillers, pointed implants in her ears and a Brazilian butt lift.

She has previously spoken about her mental health battles, saying that body modifications helped her to become more comfortable in herself.

In 2020, she shared a photo on Instagram of herself at age 18, and wrote: ‘I was so catatonically depressed, suicidal and was a walking dead girl.

‘Now, I’ve totally transformed myself into someone I’m proud of being. I’m a strong woman who knows exactly what she wants and who she is.’

The Project’s Carrie Bickmore and Fifi Box check out of a Sydney hotel after a wild girls’ night out

They enjoyed a wild girls’ night out on Thursday evening in Sydney.

And The Project host Carrie Bickmore, 41, and radio star Fifi Box, 45, were seen checking out of the swanky Kimpton Margot hotel the morning after.

The two women shared a laugh as they rolled their suitcases to a chauffeured car.

Carrie and Fifi were dressed like typical Melburnians, both wearing black outfits.

Carrie looked incredibly chic in a knitted turtleneck sweater with a pair of black skinny jeans and black combat boots worn over the top.

Meanwhile, a hungover Fifi went for a more casual flying attire, wearing a baggy lilac top over a padded jacket.

She also donned skinny jeans and combat boots.

The night before, the pair appeared ready to cut loose with Carrie looking as youthful as ever and Fifi clad in a busty emerald dress.

The Gold Logie winner shared the snap on Instagram along with several others throughout the night, before revealing the next morning Fifi had a hangover.

It comes after Carrie’s recent return to The Project following her ‘family adventure’ in Britain, which some suspected viewers had been cut short.

Many had expected her to be gone for six months or more, and some even suspected she hoped to get a job in the UK, so they were understandably confused when she slipped back into her role on the panel without fanfare on July 11.

Fans of the newsreader had been in the dark about her trip, as she had never indicated a specific return date.

Carrie, 41, looked as youthful as ever and Fifi, 45, clad in a busty emerald dress

Instead, Bickmore simply said she was ‘going to be taking a few months off’ from April with her partner Chris Walker and their three children, traveling across Europe while being mostly based in London.

‘Chris and I and the kids are heading off on a family adventure together,’ she said at the time.

‘We’ve been wanting to do it for a while but lots of reasons, timing hasn’t been right, but we figure it’s never going to be the perfect time to go.’

‘YOt’s something we really want to do before my son starts his final years at school so we’re doing term two in the UK. So I will be off for a couple of months,’ she added.

As it turned out, returning in ‘a few months’ is precisely what Bickmore did.

Yet during her sabbatical some viewers feared she would never return to the Channel 10 current affairs show, pointing to various ‘clues’ suggesting she was planning a more permanent move.

For example, Bickmore said she had been inspired by fellow Project panelist Kate Langbroek, 56, who spent two years living in Bologna, Italy, with her family.

Furthermore, Bickmore had sold her five-bedroom family home in Melbourne just days before announcing her extended leave.

Some fans speculated this was because she and her family were hoping to buy a place to live in England.

Yet none of these theories came to fruition, as Bickmore returned to The Project on July 11, just three months after jetting abroad.

Job applicant responds to rejection letter with a hilarious meme – and ends up scoring an INTERVIEW

‘Y tho’: Job applicant responds to a rejection letter with a hilarious meme – and ends up scoring an INTERVIEW with the company

  • TikTok user @swedishswan shared her story in a now-viral video, saying she had woken up to ‘another rejection letter’ from a job she had applied for
  • She explained that she really wanted the job, and with nothing less to lose, she replied to the email with a meme
  • The meme in question is a painting of Pope Leo X by Fernando Botero that has the phrase ‘y tho’ written underneath his face
  • Much to her surprise, the move ended up reinvigorating the company’s interest in her, and she got a follow-up email asking for an interview

A job applicant who had nothing else to lose responded to a rejection letter with a hilarious meme — and ended up scoring an interview with the company.

TikTok user @swedishswan shared her story in a now-viral video, explaining that she had woken up to ‘another rejection letter’ from a job that she had applied for.

‘I really kind of wanted this job, so I took a lesson from Gen Z, and I sent them back this,’ she said, sharing a picture of the meme she responded with.

Much to her surprise, the move ended up reinvigorating the company’s interest in her as a job applicant.

‘They sent me another email saying they do, in fact, now want to interview me,’ she said. ‘I can’t believe that worked.’

The video has been viewed more than five million times and has received thousands of comments from delighted viewers.

‘These are the stories that keep me going in life,’ one person wrote, while another added: ‘As a recruiter, if someone felt that to me, I would ABSOLUTELY want an interview.’

‘Responding to a rejection email was literally how I got my job now,’ someone else commented. ‘I kept thinking: what are they gonna do, NOT hire me MORE?’

'I really kind of wanted this job, so I took a lesson from Gen Z,' she said, adding: 'I can't believe that worked'

TikTok user @swedishswan never shared where she got the idea from, but she was likely inspired by another viral video that took the internet by storm earlier this year.

Samantha Jane, who is known as @samantha_jane on the platform, revealed in March that her sister Hannah, a job recruiter, received the same meme in response to a rejection email.

The bold move didn’t work in this case, but plenty of people thought it was amusing, including Samantha.

The TikTok user has since made her account private, but she described the response being ‘the most Gen Z thing’ she has ever seen, according to The Independent.

‘No context, no other text, just the meme. I love it so much,’ she added.

Shocking Neighbors plot saw Chinese family accused of eating the dog

The Neighbors storyline they desperately want you to forget: Shocking early ’90s plot saw Chinese family on Ramsay Street accused of eating the Robinsons’ DOG

Footage has resurfaced of a problematic Neighbors storyline in which a Chinese family on Ramsay Street was accused of eating a dog.

In the extraordinary clip, which has gained attention on YouTube after the series finale last week, Jim Robinson’s daughter Julie Martin (played by Julie Mullins) accuses the Lim family of eating her missing dog.

‘That sort of thing might be acceptable in your country, Mrs Lim, but in Australia we consider it barbaric,’ Julie says.

A shocked Jenny Lim responds: ‘You think we ate her? This is what you think of us. How dare you suggest such a thing. I’ve never been so insulted.’

The short-lived storyline, which reflected suburban prejudices about Asian Australians in the early ’90s, re-emerged after the Neighbors finale on Thursday night.

The last-ever episode of the long-running series, which first began in 1985, aired Down Under on Thursday and in the UK on Friday.

Now it has been confirmed that the fictional suburb of Erinsborough situated on Ramsay Street in Melbourne, Victoria, will be demolished.

Terry Smit of Go West, the team behind the official Neighbors tour, told the Daily Star: ‘We are advised by Fremantle Media that the sets will be dismantled and that the space will be used for their next project, whatever that may be.’

Mr Smit added: ‘As the sets are being dismantled, there is nothing left for us to tour, so the tour will be discontinued.’

Karl and Jasmine Stefanovic set sail on James Packer’s $250m superyacht

James Packer invited some of his famous friends to board his $250million superyacht in the South of France last Tuesday.

The Australian billionaire, 54, was joined on the luxury vessel by long-time pal Karl Stefanovic, his wife Jasmine and their two-year-old daughter Harper.

It was a family affair with Jasmine’s sister Jade Yarbrough also on board with her new boyfriend, the former Australian cricket captain Michael Clarke.

Jasmine, 38, a former model-turned-shoe designer, looked breezy in a white shirt and designer sunglasses as she chatted to James on deck.

A bikini-clad Jade, 30, stood nearby carrying her Niece Harper on her hip.

Michael, 41, was also spotted enjoying a day on the water with the cashed-up crowd, clad in a black T-shirt and shades.

Today host Karl, 47, kept it casual in a black shirt left partially unbuttoned, and completed his look with a matching cap.

Meanwhile, James, who recently sold his stake in Crown Resorts for $3.3billion, looked slimmer than he has been in years in a loose black T-shirt and sweatpants.

The troubled businessman appears to have put a series of health issues behind him.

Like her big sister, Jade moved to Los Angeles to work for a marketing company in 2015, giving her the chance to rub shoulders with Jasmine's famous pals

The Daily Telegraph reports Michael (pictured) has become 'quite fond' of Jade in recent weeks

In the last few months, he has lost 33kg (72lbs or 5.2st) and has also ditched the psychiatric medication that for so long altered his mood.

Packer told The Weekend Australian in June he was ready to start the ‘third act’ of his life, including a planned return to his home city of Sydney

‘I’m roughly 130kg now and want to be back to 100kg by the end of 2022. I want to swim with my kids at Bondi when we’re all in Sydney together next year and be 100kg,’ he said from his home in Mexico.

Packer revealed he’d quit the antidepressants and antipsychotic drugs he was taking, and was now looking to ‘rehabilitate’ his reputation in Australia.

‘I am very much looking forward to seeing Crown Sydney… it hasn’t been appropriate for me to be in Australia for the last few years,’ he said.

In a subsequent interview with The Sydney Morning Herald, Packer said he had lost a total of 33kg and counting by quitting alcohol, following a strict diet and exercise regimen, and limiting his daily calorie intake.

James Packer (pictured in October 2017) said in a recent interview he was excited to begin his 'third act' and plans to ease back into public life in Australia

James Packer (pictured in October 2017) said in a recent interview he was excited to begin his ‘third act’ and plans to ease back into public life in Australia

He told the newspaper his life was ‘pretty good right now’, adding: ‘My mental health is the best it’s ever been.’

Packer sold Crown to private investment company Blackstone for $8.9billion in a deal that was finalized in June, pocketing $3.3billion in the process.

The sale marked the end of a major chapter in his life which at times was mired by controversy amid inquiries into the company and allegations of money laundering.

Despite the investigations, the father of three credited his casinos in Melbourne, Perth and Sydney with changing the cities ‘for the better’.

Packer is seen here at Sydney's Bondi Beach on December 21, 2003. He recently said he hopes to visit Bondi with his children next year after getting his weight down to 100kg

In the photo, the teenager can be seen beaming as she stood between her famous parents as her mother sweetly held onto her arm.

‘Our girl,’ the mother-of-two captioned the picture, which showed her in a sleeveless, floor-length dress and light brown hair cascading down her back.

The post comes nearly three months after Grace landed her first magazine cover, in which she sported a $6,400 red lace sheath dress by Prada and a ‘Graceland’ trucker hat.

Turlington celebrated the milestone achievement by posting the issue of POP Magazine, featuring her lookalike, with a heartfelt caption.

Grace was photographed by Clara Balzary for the cover shoot, and with her light brown hair, arched brows, and green eyes, she is the spitting image of her mother.

Turlington, along with Linda Evangelista, Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, Helena Christensen, Claudia Schiffer, and Elle Macpherson, was famously a part of the ’90s modeling cohort that the New York Times dubbed the ‘Magnificent Seven.’
