Kylie Jenner defends herself against accusations she failed to follow proper sanitary protocols

Kylie Jenner defended herself against accusations she failed to follow proper sanitary protocols while visiting a lab in Milan for her makeup collection.

Jenner, 24, responded specifically to Kevin James Bennett, an Emmy-award winning makeup artist who called out Kylie on Instagram after she posted photos from the lab on Wednesday.

Jenner insisted the photo he posted was not actually taken in a manufacturing facility, and insisted she would ‘never’ bypass sanitary protocols.

‘I would never bypass sanitary protocols’: Kylie Jenner defended herself against allegations she failed to follow proper sanitary protocols while visiting a lab in Milan for her makeup collection

The reality star hit back at Kyle in the comments section of his post, writing: ‘kevin – this picture is not taken in a manufacturing facility. i would never bypass sanitary protocols and neither would any other celeb or beauty brand owner. that’s completely unacceptable i agree.

‘this is a small personal space creating my own fun samples and taking pictures for content nowhere near the mass manufacturing. no one is putting customers at risk! shame on you kevin for spreading false information !!!!’

A back-and-forth ensued between the duo as Kyle accused Jenner of ‘gaslighting’ her followers.

‘So you were standing on a platform, looking into an expensive homogenizing kettle that had processed at least 50 liters of a complexion product (the product still covering the mixing paddles) without PPE or your hair tied back, wearing a @weareregi lab coat? But this is not a cosmetics manufacturing facility? It’s a personal space? Wow, there’s some serious gaslighting going on here,’ he replied.

Shame on me? NO, shame on you or whoever takes care of your social media for trying to gaslight everyone into thinking I’m the one to blame. Just take responsibility for your mistake and move on,’ he wrote in a separate comment.

Kylie hit back once again, this time insisting she would have to change her dog Kevin’s name due to the altercation.

‘oh were you there kevin? ugh now i have to change my dogs name,’ she added.

‘Are you seriously going to lie and then troll me? Wow,’ I posted.

Kylie faced scrutiny on Wednesday after she posted snaps of herself at the lab where her Kylie Cosmetics products are made.

The Los Angeles-born star captioned the clip, ‘In the lab creating new magic for you guys… better than ever,’ tagging the name of her brand into the post.

This led to commenters pointing out Kylie was not wearing a hair cap, gloves, and mask as she checked out the facility with her long hair dangling down.

One user wrote, ‘Wear a hair cap,’ while another asked aren’t you ‘suppose to wear gloves, mask and the hair net thingy???’

Another user said, ‘I just see so many lab rules not being followed,’ while another said, ‘No gloves or a hair net in a lab??? or even a mask???’

Sources told Dailymail.com that Kylie was not on the production floor and was in the accessible lab area where she could play around with colors and ideate concepts.

A number of Instagram commenters were critical of the protocols being followed in the clip

Eventually, the images caught the attention of Bennett, who weighed into the matter.

‘I’m a cosmetic developer and work with cosmetic manufacturers (and their labs) as part of my job,’ Bennett said. ‘I have very short hair, and I’ve NEVER been allowed into the lab or onto the manufacturing floor without a hair net, shoe covers, mask…and disposable GLOVES.’

Bennett claimed Jenner was ‘gaslighting her followers into thinking she is creating cosmetics,’ adding he questioned ‘what ignorant manufacturer… let her stage this photo-op in their lab and on the manufacturing floor – without following proper sanitation protocols.

‘I need the name because I want to make sure my clients NEVER work with them.’

He wrapped up in saying, ‘Folks, this is not the way we create cosmetics and misrepresents how our industry works. Credible manufacturers follow STRICT sanitation protocols to protect you.’

Dailymail.com has reached out to Jenner’s reps for comment on the criticism.

The Australian suburbs where interest rate hikes mean house prices are plunging by six figures

A series of interest rate hikes have caused dramatic house price plunges of $250,000 in wealthy suburbs and the downturn is expected to get worse.

The Reserve Bank in August raised interest rates for the fourth straight month, marking the most dramatic increases since 1994 and on Thursday, the Commonwealth Bank and ANZ became the first of the big four banks to match the latest increase.

Richer postcodes and gentrified, inner-city areas had emerged the most when the cash rate was at a record-low of 0.1 per cent but these suburbs are now leading the downturn, with more monetary policy tightening expected in 2022 to tackle surging inflation.

Upmarket parts of Sydney and Melbourne are suffering six-figure falls in just three months, with Brisbane and regional areas of coastal NSW now also going backwards, after being some of Australia’s strongest performing markets in 2021.

Sydney’s north shore, covering Chatswood and Wahroonga, is the worst affected with Domain sales data showing a $250,000 plunge in the median house price during the June quarter.

A drop of 8.4 per cent in just three months took the median house price back to $2,720,000.

On the neighboring northern beaches, stretching from Manly to Palm Beach, mid-point house prices in just three months have plunged by $187,500 or 6.8 per cent to $2,582,500.

Melbourne’s upmarket inner-east, covering Kew and Box Hill, has seen its median house price fall by $107,500 in three months, with the 6.1 per cent quarterly decline taking the median house price down to $1,660,000.

On Tuesday the Reserve Bank raised the cash rate to a six-year high of 1.85 per cent.

The Commonwealth Bank, ANZ and Bank of Queensland on Thursday announced they would match the 0.5 percentage point increase on their variable mortgage rates.

The May, June, July and August rate increases of 1.75 percentage points have been the steepest since 1994.

Inflation in the year to June surged by 6.1 per cent, the steepest increase since 1990 when the one-off effect of the GST in 2000 and 2001 was taken out.

What a 0.5 percentage point rate rise means

$500,000: Up $141 from $2,215 to $2,356

$600,000: Up $169 from $2,658 to $2,827

$700,000: Up $197 from $3,101 to $3,298

$900,000: Up $253 from $3,987 to $4,240

$1,000,000: Up $281 from $4,430 to $4,711

Increases based on Reserve Bank cash rate rising from 1.35 per cent to 1.85 per cent taking popular Commonwealth Bank variable rate from 3.39 per cent to 3.89 per cent

The consumer price index is now well above the Reserve Bank’s two to three per cent target and all the big banks are expecting another 0.5 percentage point interest rate rise in September, following on from this month’s 50 basis point increase.

Domain chief of research Dr Nicola Powell said higher interest rates meant the banks were unable to lend as much.

‘Borrowing capacity has been eroded by higher rates and a higher cost of living and there’s more to come in terms of a further acceleration in a deterioration in prices,’ she said.

‘Some Australian households, and prospective buyers, are much more sensitive to higher interest rates and strong inflation levels due to the high level of debt being carried, ultimately eroding savings.’

The banks have, since November, been required to assess a borrower’s ability to cope with a three percentage point rise in variable mortgage rates.

Gentrified inner-city areas are also in decline.

Sydney’s inner west, stretching from Leichhardt to Strathfield, saw its median house price plunge by $200,000, or 8.3 per cent in three months, to $2,220,000.

In the nearby inner south area, taking in Newtown and Waterloo, mid-point house prices fell by 4.7 per cent, or $90,000, to $1,845million.

While Newtown falls within the Inner West Council, the Australian Bureau of Statistics puts this bohemian suburb within Sydney’s inner south category, based on an SA4 mapping classification.

The property market contagion is spreading beyond Sydney and Melbourne with house prices in Brisbane’s west, stretching from Indooroopilly to Upper Brookfield, falling by $50,000, or 4.3 per cent, to $1,100,000.

The regions, which have become a popular market in their own right for young investors priced out of the big cities, also took a hit.

Demand has arisen for houses near the beach as professionals could work from home without having to commute to a big city office.

Median house prices on the New South Wales mid-north coast, covering Port Macquarie, fell by $33,500 or 4.5 per cent in the June quarter, to $715,000.

Further north, mid-point apartment prices in the Coffs Harbor region fell by $51,500 or 9.5 per cent to $491,000.

Sydney’s Sutherland area, taking in Miranda and Cronulla, saw its median house price fall by $42,500 or 2.6 per cent to $1,600,000.

It was the only area to suffer big drops in both house and unit prices.

In Sydney's inner south area, taking in Redfern (pictured), mid-point house prices fell by 4.7 per cent, or $90,000, to $1.845million

Median unit prices also plummet

sydney – Eastern suburbs – down $90,000 or 6.8 per cent to $1,230,000

sydney – Baulkham Hills and Hawkesbury – down $55,000 or 6.9 per cent to $745,000

Victoria LaTrobe, Gippsland – down $38,000 or 10.1 per cent to $340,000

NSW Hunter Valley without Newcastle – down $35,000 or 6.8 per cent to $480,000

The Sutherland Shire also copped to $45,000, or 5.6 per cent, drop in unit prices during the June quarter to $760,000.

Sydney’s eastern suburbs saw Australia’s biggest median price drop in the unit market, with a $90,000 or 6.8 per cent decline, taking the mid-point apartment price to $1,230,000.

But the biggest fall, by percentage, in units was in Hobart, where median prices fell by $55,000, or 9.2 per cent, to $540,000.

Sydney’s flood-stricken northwest also saw a $55,000 price drop in unit prices, down 6.9 per cent to $745,000.

Both the Reserve Bank and Treasury are expecting inflation to hit a 32-year high of 7.75 per cent later this year and remain outside the RBA target band until 2024 – meaning rate rises will continue for a long while yet.

On Monday, CoreLogic data showed in July the median national home price fell for the third straight month in July by 1.3 per cent.

Its figures showed wealthy postcodes in the big cities are leading the downturn with coastal and tree change regional areas also taking a hit after previously being some of the strongest performing markets.

How a war between China and Taiwan could cause product shortages

China and Taiwan are on the brink of war after a long-standing dispute over the island’s sovereignty came to a head – with potentially massive implications for consumer technology supplies.

Taiwan is home to the world’s biggest producer of computer chips, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC).

TSMC’s chips are used in a wide variety of phones, including the iPhone 13; cars including the Renault Arkana SUV; gaming consoles including the Nintendo Switch and Playstation 5; and smart home devices including the Revcook smart toaster.

Rising tensions between China and Taiwan could disrupt the production of these chips, with knock-on effects throughout the global consumer electronics industry.

TSMC’s chairman has warned that a Chinese military force or invasion would make the firm’s facilities ‘inoperable’ because it relies on ‘real-time connection’ with Europe, with Japan and the US.

Experts have told MailOnline that, if TSMC is unable to produce chips at its current rate, it could affect availability of some popular tech devices as soon as Christmas – although the biggest effects are likely to be felt next year.

TSMC ¿ the most valuable company in Asia and the 10th most valuable company in the world ¿ develops chips for a range of big companies, predominantly Apple, but also AMD, MediaTek, Qualcomm, Broadcom, Nvidia and more. The firm makes chips that go into iPhones, iPads and Apple's Silicon Macs, as well as automobiles and gaming consoles, including Nintendo's Switch and Sony's PlayStation 5

The firm makes chips that go into iPhones, iPads and Apple’s Silicon Macs, as well as automobiles and gaming consoles, including Nintendo’s Switch and Sony’s PlayStation 5

WHAT IS TSMC?

Founded in 1987, TSMC – the most valuable company in Asia and the 10th most valuable company in the world – develops chips for a range of huge players.

TSMC has semiconductor fabrication plants (‘fabs’) around the island, although its main operations are located in Hsinchu in the north.

According to the company’s website, TSMC produces more than 10,000 products for almost 500 clients worldwide.

Its biggest client is Apple, but other clients include AMD, MediaTek, Qualcomm, Broadcom, Nvidia and Marvell.

The firm makes A-series chips that go into iPhones and iPads, as well as M-series chips for Apple’s Silicon Macs.

TSMC chips are also in cars and gaming consoles, including Nintendo’s Switch and Sony’s PlayStation 5.

Ben Barringer, equity research analyst at Quilter Cheviot, told MailOnline that China would likely aim to preserve TSMC and ‘the brain power behind it’ if it took control of the island, in order to gain an advantage over US and Korean based semiconductor manufacturers.

‘Given its market position, the expertise it has and the complexity of the sector, TSMC is likely to remain of strategic importance to whoever governs Taiwan both now and in the future,’ Barringer said.

However, there could be ‘non-combat interventions’ from China such as potential blockades, I have suggested.

‘While this would not prevent TSMC from operating, it would limit what it could achieve and potentially delay any technological advancements,’ he said.

‘Clearly the threat of war in Taiwan would be very troubling for those involved and we can hope any tensions can be resolved diplomatically.’

Barringer also said that delays and shortages in consumer products would most likely occur next year, and that the new iPhone 14, expected to be released next month, will likely be safe because units will have already been built.

‘The third quarter of the year is extremely important for the semiconductor industry as this is when they produce the components that go into the products that will be bought and sold at Christmas,’ he told MailOnline.

‘If China were to invade imminently then we may see some knock-on effect, but even at this point of the year any delays and shortages would most likely occur in 2023.’

Simon Thomas, CEO of British electronics company Paragraf, said consumers will experience ‘longer waiting times and less choice for new products’ if geopolitical conflict were to escalate.

‘As long as supply chain uncertainly continues, the impact on different product availability will become more widespread,’ he told MailOnline.

‘We are hoping that a military invasion of Taiwan is not inevitable, with the world already going through significant turmoil this would certainly be another globally impacting crisis.’

This week, TSMC’s chairman Mark Liu warned that a war between Taiwan and China would make ‘everybody losers’.

Liu told CNN: ‘If you take a military force or invasion, you will render TSMC factory not operable. Because this is such a sophisticated manufacturing facility, it depends on real-time connection with the outside world, with Europe, with Japan, with the US, from materials to chemicals to spare parts to engineering software and diagnosis.’

China’s escalating military aggression comes in the midst of a global chip shortage that goes back to 2020.

The shortage was triggered when chipmaking factories around the world were forced to shut down due to the coronavirus pandemic as part of social distancing measures, which resulted in months of no production.

It was compounded due to the rise in demand for electronics, as most people were under stay-at-home orders.

Former President Donald Trump also created more demand for TMSC chips because of his sanctions on SMIC, a chip maker based in Shanghai, as well as other Chinese firms as part of his trade war on the country.

Another issue is severe droughts in Taiwan, as TSMC needs 156,000 tons of water every day to operate their microchip manufacturing plant – enough water to fill roughly 60 Olympic-sized swimming pools.

The chip shortage is so severe that one major industrial conglomerate resorted to purchasing washing machines and tearing the semiconductors out for use in their own chip modules, Bloomberg previously reported.

Nintendo’s president Shuntaro Furukawa recently said that there’s ‘no end in sight’ to the semiconductor shortage, and so the company’s Switch console will be in short supply this year.

Taiwan’s dominance in semiconductors has been referred to as a ‘Silicon Shield’, in that the US and other allies would defend it from military invasion in order to prevent its high-tech industry from falling into Chinese hands.

However, new military actions have stoked fears that this shield could be broken.

On Tuesday, Chinese military began ‘live-fire’ exercises around the self-governing island in an attempt to intimidate its democratic neighbour.

China is also pressing the US into dropping its support for Taiwan, as demonstrated by the visit of US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi this week.

China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs called the visit a ‘serious disregard of China’s strong opposition’ before effectively blockading the island with military drills.

Why China set its sights on Taiwan

China and Taiwan have a long-standing dispute over the island’s sovereignty.

China considers Taiwan a part of its territory, more precisely a province, but many Taiwanese want the island to be independent.

From 1683 to 1895, Taiwan was ruled by China’s Qing dynasty. After Japan claimed its victory in the First Sino-Japanese War, the Qing government was forced to cede Taiwan to Japan.

The island was under the Republic of China’s ruling after World War II, with the consent of its allies, the US and UK.

The leader of the Chinese Nationalist Party, Chiang Kai-shek, fled to Taiwan in 1949 and established his government after losing the Civil War to the Communist Party and its leader Mao Zedong.

Chiang’s son continued to rule Taiwan after his father and began democratizing Taiwan.

In 1980, China put forward a policy called ‘one country, two systems,’ under which Taiwan would be given significant autonomy if it accepted Chinese reunification. Taiwan rejected the offer.

Taiwan today, with its own constitution and democratically-elected leaders, is widely accepted in the West as an independent state. But its political status remains unclear.

The designer took to her Instagram grid to joke she had ‘inspired David again’ after the couple colour-coordinated in yellow just a few weeks ago.

Victoria looked stunning in a vibrant red polka-dotted dress which she teamed with a pair of oversized designer shades.

Opting for a natural palette of make-up the former pop star wore her dark tresses tied back from her beautiful face.

David also chose a red ensemble, sporting a rose polo shirt which he teamed with a pair of emerald shorts.

Beaming for the camera the couple sat on the incredible yacht with the amazing views of the crystal clear ocean behind them.

Victoria captioned the snap: Looks like I inspired @DavidBeckham again!!! matchy matchy x kisses’.

Earlier this month Victoria joked ‘who copied who’ when the couple showcased their bright canary yellow outfits as they celebrated their anniversary in Venice.

Victoria stunned in a dusty yellow maxi-dress with white straps and keyhole cutouts, which she teamed with a pair of white sandals.

The mother-of-four styled her chocolate tresses in a messy bun as she put on a loved-up display with her husband-of-23-years.

In a caption alongside the snap, Victoria commemorated their anniversary by writing: ‘Still matching 23 years later’.

She also shared an amusing video to her Stories where she jokingly asked fans to guess ‘who copied who’ with their coordinated outfits.

As she revealed their matching ensembles, a disgruntled David said: ‘I had it on first just for the record! This was not planned.’

‘You inspired me!’ Victoria said, before jokingly adding: ‘I’m a fashion inspiration to many, who copied who?’

Ricky Nixon calls out A Current Affair reporter Seb Costello, says he should be bounced at court

Fallen AFL agent Ricky Nixon has urged his supporters to chase Channel 9 journalist Seb Costello down the street as payback after he was ambushed by the reporter.

Costello, 35, confronted Nixon about his latest questionable business venture, which led to the A Current Affair reporter copping an elbow to the head and saying he would be reporting to police.

But Costello himself is set to front court over an unconnected incident after he was charged this week with two counts of unlawful assault – with his alleged victims breaking their silence on Thursday.

Melbourne siblings Finn, 23, and Xanthe, 22, allege Costello confronted them after they had mistakenly blocked off access to his driveway.

Xanthe’s partner was waiting in the parked car, blocking the laneway off Boyd Street, Richmond on February 11 while the brother and sister were in their house nearby.

The brother and sister spoke to The Herald Sun, alleging Costello walked up their steps and yelled at them and, when they were apologetic, he turned more aggressive.

‘I had to put my hand out on to his chest to stop him from pressing up against me,’ Xanthe said.

She claimed she needed to step back inside her house to regain her balance because she had moved up to the top step in front of her and that only when Finn said he would call the police did he back off.

They also allege Costello let fly with another tirade at Xanthe’s partner in the car as he walked off.

Costello, who works for A Current Affair, said he was on ‘compassionate leave’ when the argument occurred because his grandmother had died.

He said the ‘disagreement’ was minor and that he remained on the lower step and did not threaten or assault anyone.

The siblings disagree and said they were ‘disappointed’ that he acted so ‘angry’ and ‘entitled’ over the public laneway being blocked.

Costello is set to front Collingwood’s Neighborhood Justice Center on September 28.

Just last week, Costello was looking at pressing his own assault charges after an altercation with former AFL player and prominent footy agent Ricky Nixon.

He had confronted him for an ACA segment about the latest health business he was running, a service that offers $350 intravenous infusion treatments for those who ‘want a totally revitalized life and feel’.

The venture was slammed by the Australian Medical Association Victoria president Roderick McRae.

The ex-footy player and disgraced agent had also launched an ‘ambulance’ to provide mobile health services during the Covid pandemic.

Costello could possibly have used an ambulance himself after he confronted Nixon on Bay Street in Port Melbourne about his businesses.

‘I’ll be careful how I characterize it, but in the process of speaking with Mr Nixon his elbow has made contact with my jaw… I think it’s fair to say I didn’t headbutt somebody’s elbow,’ Mr Costello told 3AW .

He eventually decided not to press charges, with Victoria Police confirming on Wednesday afternoon their investigation was completed after they received a ‘no complaint’ statement.

Nixon seemed particularly pleased when he heard of the assault charges against Costello, who is the son of former Treasurer and Nine Chairman Peter Costello.

‘Winner winner chicken dinner,’ he captioned a link to the story on Facebook, referring to his nickname.

Nixon had previously tried his hand at stand up comedy with a routine called ‘Chicken Train’ at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in 2013.

The post received hundreds of comments from supporters with one suggesting a ‘Chicken Vs Costello’ boxing match would be a ‘promoter’s dream’.

‘Should get all the Chicken fans to wait outside court and chase him (Costello) down the street,’ another said.

To which Nixon replied: ‘Great idea’.

Nixon was once one of the top AFL agents and possibly sports agents in the country.

His ‘Flying Start’ agency helped manage the careers of stars such as Matthew Richardson, Nick Riewoldt, and Wayne Carey.

His agency collapsed in 2011 when pictures of him in his underwear allegedly inside the hotel room of a 17-year-old girl were leaked.

He subsequently fled to England and when he returned he sold his agency amid a loss of accreditation by the AFL and a number of assault and traffic charges leveled against him by police.

Demi Lovato pronouns: Jackie O calls singer ‘flippant’ for going back to she/her

Radio presenter Jackie ‘O’ Henderson has labeled singer Demi Lovato ‘flippant’ for reverting to she/her pronouns a year after she insisted on being referred to by them/them.

The Cool for the Summer star, 29, came out as non-binary in May 2021 and stated her preference for the gender-neutral pronouns because she felt neither male nor female.

But she said in a podcast interview this week she has now decided to go by she/her as well because she has been ‘feeling more feminine’ recently.

Henderson, 47, criticized Lovato’s backflip on The Kyle and Jackie O Show on Wednesday during a discussion with fill-in host Pedro Vitola and newsreader Brooklyn Ross.

The trio seemed annoyed by her decision as they had made an effort not to misgender Lovato during her last appearance on the program in September 2021, which the musician said she was grateful for.

The show aired an audio clip of Lovato saying, ‘Everyone messes up pronouns at some point,’ which prompted Henderson to remark: ‘Especially when they get changed on you.’

‘Demi really annoys me with that,’ replied Ross, noting that co-host Kyle Sandilands – who was not on air on Wednesday – often struggles to remember pronouns even though he ‘does care about everyone’.

He continued: ‘We’re not here to insult anyone on purpose. But Demi Lovato swapping and changing… I’m sorry, but you can’t just expect people to follow your life and know what to call you when it changes back and forth.’

Vitola also weighed in, saying these kind of backflips make it difficult for people who are genuinely trying to understand and be correct with pronouns.

Less than a year ago, Lovato thanked Sandilands and Henderson on air for being ‘so great with my pronouns’ when she went exclusively by them/them.

Sandilands slipped up at the start of the interview by using ‘she’ but corrected himself and did not make the same mistake again.

‘I do want to say thank you so much, because you’re doing so great with my pronouns,’ she said at the time.

‘Your intention was there and I noticed it, so I just want to say thank you.’

Recalling this exchange on Wednesday, Henderson said: ‘When we interviewed her, we were told [by her publicist]”Look, she’s taking the pronouns very seriously.

‘”Try and get your head around them/them when referring to her. However, if you make a mistake, she’s fine with that.”‘

She added: ‘I think people will look at what Demi’s done and [think]”Maybe she should have thought about it for a bit longer before making that claim,” because now she doesn’t feel that way anymore.’

Ross, who is gay, noted there are trans and non-binary people who take pronouns ‘more seriously’ than the former Disney star seems to.

‘[People] won’t like what she’s done and how flippant it’s been,’ added Henderson. ‘But hey, each to their own.’

Lovato opened up about re-adopting she/her pronouns during an appearance on the Spout Podcast, which premiered on August 1, revealing she recently began ‘feeling more feminine’.

‘I’ve actually adopted the pronouns of she/her again with me. So for me, I’m such a fluid person that I don’t really and I don’t find that I am… I felt like, especially last year, my energy was balanced and my masculine and feminine energy so that when I was faced with the choice of walking into a bathroom and it said “women” and “men”, I didn’t feel like there was a bathroom for me, because I didn’t necessarily feel like a woman,’ she explained.

‘I didn’t feel like a man. I just felt like a human. And that’s what they/them is about. For me, it’s just about like feeling human at your core.’

‘Recently I’ve been feeling more feminine, and so I’ve adopted she/her again. But I think what’s important is, like, nobody’s perfect. Everyone messes up pronouns at some point, and especially when people are learning, it’s just all about respect,’ she added.

In a video posted to Twitter, Lovato said: ‘I want to take this moment to share something very personal with you.

‘Over the past year and a half, I’ve been doing some healing and self-reflective work, and through this work I’ve had the revelation that I identify as non-binary.

‘With that said, I’ll be officially changing my pronouns to they/them. I feel that this best represents the fluidity I feel in my gender expression and allows me to feel most authentic and true to the person I both know I am and still am discovering.’

Lovato went onto urge fans to ‘keep living in your truths’ and sent ‘so much love’ to those who are still struggling to come to terms with their identity.

In a Twitter thread to accompany the video, she added: ‘Every day we wake up, we are given another opportunity and chance to be who we want and wish to be.

‘I’ve spent the majority of my life growing in front of all of you… you’ve seen the good, the bad and everything in between.

‘Not only has my life been a journey for myself, I was also living for those on the other side of the cameras.

‘Today is a day I’m so happy to share more of my life with you all – I am proud to let you know that I identify as non-binary and will officially be changing my pronouns to them/them moving forward.

‘This has come after a lot of healing and self-reflective work. I’m still learning and coming into myself and I don’t claim to be an expert or a spokesperson. Sharing this with you now opens another level of vulnerability for me.

‘I’m doing this for those out there that haven’t been able to share who they truly are with their loved ones. Please keep living in your truths and know I am sending so much love your way.’

Union St Gilloise 2-0 Rangers: Gers left with it all to do to qualify for the Champions League

Visiting the beer capital of Belgium at least provided Rangers fans with the means to soothe their sorrows.

A performance as flat as a day-old pint hasn’t completely ended hope of reaching the Champions League for the first time since 2010. But, my goodness, something much more potent will be required from Giovanni van Bronckhorst and his players if they are to turn the tie around at Ibrox next Tuesday evening.

Uncertain at the back and timid in attack, this had a completely different feel to the barnstorming displays that took Rangers all the way to last season’s Europa League final.

Seventy-six days on from Seville, a damaging false start was produced in the bid to secure a £40million group stage windfall.

Union St Gilloise's Teddu Teuma scores the opener in their 2-0 win over Rangers on Tuesday

First-leg defeat leaves Gers facing an uphill battle in their bid to qualify for Champions League

First-leg defeat leaves Gers facing an uphill battle in their bid to qualify for Champions League

MATCH FACTS

UNION ST-GILLOISE: (3-5-2) You die; Sykes, Burgess, Van Der Heyden; Nieuwkoop, Lynen, Teuma (Gates 90+2), Lazare Amani, Lapoussin; Adingra (Ilyes 85), Vanzeir (Francois 90+2)

Subs not used: Imbrechts (GK), Pirard (GK); Boone, Dony, El Azzouzi, Huygevelde, Machida

goals: Teuma (27), Vanzeir (PEN 76)

Bookings: Lynen (80)

Coach: Karel Geraerts

RANGERS: (4-1-2-3) McLaughlin; Tavernier, Goldson, Sands, Barisic (Yilmaz 67); Lundstram; Kamara, Jack (Davies 67), Matondo (Wright 77), Colak, Tillman (Lawrence 77)

Coach: Giovanni van Bronckhorst

Referee: Irfan Peljto (Bosnia-Herzegovina)

Venue: Joseph Marien Stadium (Belgium)

True, there was ill fortune in the ridiculously harsh handball penalty awarded against Connor Goldson following a VAR check.

But no-one could truly dispute Union Saint-Gilloise merited a two-goal first leg lead on the overall balance of play. The Belgians had numerous chances to inflict further pain.

Their opening goal, netted by Teddy Teuma midway through the first half, was dismal from a Rangers perspective. Weak defending preceded a weak attempt at a save by Jon McLaughlin.

The goalkeeper went some way too redeeming himself with a clutch of subsequent stops as Union carved their way through time after time.

This wasn’t even a proper home match for last season’s Jupiler Pro League runners-up. Union’s Stade Joseph Marien is something of a museum piece and doesn’t meet UEFA standards, hence the switch half an hour east to the UH Lueven’s Den Dreef Stadion.

Leuven is the base for numerous breweries, including a vast facility producing gallon upon gallon of Stella Artois. Reassuringly expensive was the old marketing phrase they used.

And the cost of failure here could be very high for Rangers in terms of letting slip a chance to grasp transformative revenue.

Tuesday’s play-off round draw confirmed the winners of this tie will meet either Monaco or PSV Eindhoven for a spot among the elite.

Van Bronckhorst can’t think that far, though.

Operating with a back three here simply didn’t work.

A different plan, and much more punch, will have to be summoned if Ibrox is to stage another great European night next week and not a bitter disappointment to match the loss to Malmo 12 months ago.

The absences of Ryan Kent and John Souttar from the traveling party meant Van Bronckhorst was certain to make changes from Saturday’s 2-1 comeback win over Livingston. In the end, there were four. And a switch of formation.

Tom Lawrence and Scott Wright also dropped out, with James Sands, Ryan Jack, Rabbi Matondo and Malik Tillman promoted.

This is the first time Union have played in a continental competition since the pre-UEFA accredited days of the Fairs Cup, yet the ground was maybe only three-quarters full by time of kick-off arrived on a stickily warm evening.

Coping with events on the pitch was, of course, far more significant for Rangers. In that regard, first impressions were disappointing. They actually settled quicker.

With John Lundstram and Sands flanking Goldson at the back, Van Bronckhorst’s men established an early grip of possession against rather edgy-looking hosts.

When Siebe Van der Heyden caught Antonio Colak just outside the area, the angle demanded Borna Barisic step up. He sent the free-kick spinning towards the near post, forcing Luxembourg goalkeeper Anthony Moris to punch clear.

Sands then tested Moris with a crisp, left-footed strike from distance as Union tooled to find a foothold. One was soon located, though. And from there they climbed powerfully upwards.

A first hint of danger to the visiting defense came when Loic Lapoussin’s firm hit was blocked by Lundstram. Then Lazare Amani nutmegged Barisic on a surge down the right flank before sliding over a dangerous cross that was anxiously cleared.

Firmer evasive action arrived when Sands made a brilliant challenge on Dante Vanzeir to prevent the Belgium cap netting from a Simon Adingra delivery. Lapoussin had a slid a through-ball inside Lundstram to set up the opportunity. Union were on the march.

Their breakthrough arrived in the 27th minute. Aided, it must be said, by some distinctly flimsy resistance inside the Rangers area.

Jack lost a battle of wills against rival No 8 Amani, with Barisic then unable to do enough to prevent the ball being laid into the path of Teuma. His strike from him took a nick off the heel of Goldson but he still seemed to beat McLaughlin a little too easily. Shoddy stuff all round.

Just as at Livingston, Rangers were behind to a poor concession. And, once again, there was no appreciable response prior to the interval.

Rangers' Antonio Colak buries his head into his shirt after the visitors go 2-0 down

Rangers’ Antonio Colak buries his head into his shirt after the visitors go 2-0 down

That might have been different had Colak not lost his bearings. Tillman’s cross towards him was good but the Croatian failed to make any contact with his head. A glaring opportunity was lost.

Union very nearly exact severe punishment. Not for the first time, the Belgians were able to exploit Barisic’s area and tee up a chance. Lapoussin would have made it 2-0 but for a terrific challenge by Tavernier. The Rangers captain looked accusingly to his left of him as another mini-inquest kicked off.

Staid when advancing, the Premiership runners-up were rattled in retreat. That impression was confirmed when Sands collected a booking for clattering Amani near the halfway line.

Van Bronckhorst resisted any substitutions at the interval. And the flow of the match remained firmly towards McLaughlin.

Lapoussin headed over from Bart Nieuwkoop’s cross before the Dutch full-back clipped the outside of the post from Amani’s cutback.

On 67 minutes, the Ibrox boss turned to the introduction of £9m worth of summer business. On came Ridvan Yilmaz and Ben Davies, off went Barisic and Jack. Lundstram stepped forward into midfield.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst's men face an uphill battle in qualifying for the Champions League

Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s men face an uphill battle in qualifying for the Champions League

It didn’t make enough of a difference. McLaughlin denied Lapoussin at the near post and parried a follow-up from Vanzeir. When Teuma’s drive then came off Goldson, it led to a lengthy VAR consideration by Bosnian referee Irfan Peljto.

Given that the ball had taken a little deflection before striking Goldson’s arm at point-blank range, the award of a penalty seemed nonsensical. But Peljto had made up his mind. And Vanzeir coolly felt McLaughlin the wrong way from the spot.

The Ibrox goalkeeper then saved from the same player as he broke away looking for a third. If Rangers are going to get out of this month, that might yet provide a critical moment.

‘Okay so my newly minted 11 year old wanted a chocolate cake for his birthday and I find there’s no better mud cake than that $5 mud cake from Woolworths,’ Chrissie wrote in the caption. ‘And also [it was] delicious.’

The TV personality has lost a significant amount of weight since early 2020.

She has more recently decided to no longer discuss her weight loss publicly.

‘I think the reason I’m not talking about anything now is because I have done that in the past 20 years,’ she told Stellar magazine in July.

‘I’ve waded into that kind of toxic environment, and it didn’t make me feel good. And it didn’t help me, and it didn’t help anyone else. And it just propagates the interest in a woman’s body, which is irrelevant,’ she added.

Sydney cafe, Nuriyah Cafe, owner defends employee with Tourette Syndrome

Read the one-star restaurant review an angry customer left a café because their barista with a disability made them ‘uncomfortable’ – as the trendy eatery fires back in an epic way

  • A café owner stood up for his employee after a review criticized his disability
  • Review said a barista at the café, who has Tourettes, made them uncomfortable
  • Adam Kakaati, the café owner, said the review was insensitive and angered him

An upset café boss has rushed to defend one of his employees after a nasty online review criticized the barista’s disability.

Adam Kakaati, the owner of Nuriyah Café in the southwest Sydney suburb of Gregory Hills, said Vari Desho is the best barista in town despite suffering from Tourette Syndrome.

However, an angry customers said Mr Desho’s ‘tics’ – involuntary noises or movements – caused them to leave the café without eating or paying for their food because they were uncomfortable.

‘Unfortunately the front of house team member had a physical condition which we initially dismissed,’ the review said.

‘It causes him to ‘bark’ and as we said, we thought it would happen especially as when he took our order it stopped completely.

‘Unfortunately it then got much worse and much louder and more constant. We felt sooo bad and really wanted to stay but when it got so bad we couldn’t even have a conversation we very reluctantly had to cancel our order and leave.’

Mr Kakaati was quick to fire back with a post of his own.

‘Today at Nuriyah it was brought to our attention that a customer took it upon themselves to post a negative review regarding one of our employees,’ he wrote on Facebook.

‘Here at Nuriyah we treat all our staff & customers like family and we wanted to address how we feel about the incident that occurred, over the weekend.

‘We welcome and support anyone with a life changing condition.’

The defensive boss later said the review made him ‘so angry’ because Mr Desho isn’t able to help his condition.

‘His knowledge towards coffee, everything about the machine, and the way he makes it, no one does it better than him,’ Mr Kaakati told the Herald Sun.

‘I told him don’t ever say sorry to someone like that. You haven’t done anything wrong.

‘People said ‘he might affect your business’, but I don’t care. He has a family to provide for and he’s one of the best workers I have.’

Commenters underneath Mr Kakaati’s emotional post also defended Mr Desho and called out the reviewer for being insensitive.

‘I know this man personally, and it is very heartbreaking to see someone go to such lengths to write a review like that,’ one person wrote.

‘He is such a nice man, who would do anything to make sure you are happy and comfortable. Shame on you.’

‘It makes me so happy to see a business that supports inclusion and stands by it when challenged. It’s people like this that will make positive change when it comes to stigma and judgement,’ another said.

What is Tourette Syndrome?

Tourette Syndrome (TS) is a neurological disorder, which most often begins between the ages of 2 and 21, and lasts throughout life.

TS is NOT degenerative and people with TS can expect to live a normal life span.

Symptoms:

TS is characterized by rapid, repetitive and involuntary muscle movements and vocalisations called ‘tics’, and often involves behavioral difficulties.

The term ‘involuntary’, used to describe tics, is a source of confusion since it is known that most people with TS do have some control over their symptoms.

What is often not recognized is that the control which can be exerted, from seconds to hours at a time, only delays more severe outbursts of symptoms.

Tics are experienced as a build up of tension, are irresistible and eventually must be performed.

Typically tics increase as a result of tension or stress and decrease with relaxation or concentration on an absorbing task.

TS symptoms have long been misconstructed as a sign of behavioral abnormality or ‘nervous habits’, which they are not.
