Senate Republicans Strip $35 Insulin Cap From Climate and Health Bill

  • Senate Republicans stripped a $35 insulin cap for those with private insurance from the climate and health bill.
  • Seven Republicans joined 50 Democrats in seeking to keep the provision in the bill, falling short by three votes.
  • The vote was held as part of a “vote-a-rama” as the reconciliation bill makes its way through the Senate.

Senate Republicans on Sunday successfully removed a $35 monthly price cap on insulin for many patients as part of the Democratic-led climate, health, and tax reconciliation bill making its way through the upper chamber.

The insulin cap had been a much-desired policy goal for Democrats, who aimed to have the provision apply to Medicare beneficiaries along with Americans carrying private health insurance.

While GOP lawmakers didn’t challenge the portion applying to Medicare patients, they were able to strip the cap for those using private insurance, after talks regarding a potential bipartisan agreement fizzled earlier this year.

The Senate parliamentarian — who is tasked with analyzing reconciliation bills to ensure that they meet strict procedural rules — ruled that the cap wasn’t in accordance with what is permissible under the guidelines.

Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, the ranking member on the Budget committee, raised a point of order on the insulin cap, arguing that it was in violation of the Congressional Budget Act — and therefore would need at least 60 votes in order to stay in the larger bill.

In a 57-43 vote, seven Republicans joined all 50 Democrats in seeking to keep the provision in the larger bill, falling short by three votes.

Republican lawmakers who voted to keep the specific provision in the legislation included Sens. Bill Cassidy of Louisiana, Susan Collins of Maine, Josh Hawley of Missouri, Cindy Hyde-Smith of Mississippi, John Kennedy of Louisiana, and Lisa Murkowski and Dan Sullivan of Alaska .

Democrats were quick to blast the move. Sen. Ron Wyden of Oregon, the chairman of the Finance committee, sharply criticized Republican resistance to capping insulin costs.

“Republicans have just gone on the record in favor of expensive insulin,” he said in a statement shortly after the vote. “After years of tough talk about taking on insulin makers, Republicans have once wilted against in the face of heat from Big Pharma.”

“I think it’s shameful,” Sen. Tammy Duckworth of Illinois said in an interview. “I have folks who are literally choosing between whether they can afford insulin or food.”

He continued: “Fortunately, the $35 insulin copay cap for insulin in Medicare remains in the bill, so seniors will get relief from high insulin costs. I will continue working to deliver lower insulin costs to all Americans.”

Democrats, who control the evenly-divided Senate as a result of Vice President Kamala Harris’ tiebreaking vote, are pursuing the party-line legislation through the reconciliation process, which would allow them to overcome a 60-vote filibuster for the larger bill.

The tax and climate bill — officially called the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 — would allow a three-year extension of subsidies for individuals to buy health insurance through the Affordable Care Act, while also providing nearly $370 billion for climate and energy programs and $300 billion to reduce the federal budget deficit.

Eagle Josh Kennedy’s farewell to remember; Swans boost top-four hopes

Kennedy’s haul saw him leapfrog former St Kilda great Nick Riewoldt and ex-Carlton champion Harry Vallence into 21st spot in the all-time VFL/AFL goalkicking list.

The star forward received a huge cheer when he won the pre-game coin toss, but the Crows silenced the crowd with the first three goals of the match inside six minutes.

The rest of the quarter was the Kennedy show, as the West Coast great showcased his elite goalkicking.

Kennedy got the crowd going with a 49-meter set shot from the boundary line.

And it was party time late in the quarter when Kennedy kicked two goals in as many minutes, both from 50m out and one of which was from the boundary.

Kennedy’s heroics meant the quarter-time margin was just three points, and West Coast shot out to an eight-point lead in the second term when he slotted his fourth goal.

Adelaide fought back and the signs for the West Coast looked ominous as the visitors opened up a 23-point lead in the third quarter.

Kennedy twice stepped up to stem the tide, following his 25m set shot with yet another bomb from outside 50m.

The veteran wasn’t done with yet, booting two more goals in the final term to set up a grandstand finish.

But Kennedy’s rare late blemish proved to be West Coast’s final shot, with Adelaide steadying from there.

Adelaide defender Will Hamill was subbed off in the second quarter with concussion after copping an accidental elbow from Jack Darling in a marking contest.

The Crows entered the match in damage control after the ghosts of the club’s ill-fated 2018 pre-season camp surfaced again this week.

The new revelations from Eddie Betts and Josh Jenkins forced both Adelaide and the AFL to apologise.

Swans outclass the struggling Roos

The Sydney Swans enhanced their AFL top-four prospects with a comfortable 38-point victory over lowly North Melbourne at Marvel Stadium.

The Swans predictably dominated Sunday’s contest but North, led by an equal career-high seven goals from Nick Larkey, kicked accurately to prevent the visitors from streaking ahead in the first-half.

Sydney put their foot down in the third quarter, however, kicking six goals to three before cruising to their fifth-straight victory, 18.18 (126) to 13.10 (88).

The result leaves the Swans (14-6) fourth on the ladder, just below reigning premiers Melbourne on percentage, leading into their last home-and-away games against Collingwood and St Kilda.

“We took the foot off in that last bit and they were able to kick five goals in that last quarter,” Swans coach John Longmire said.

“We want that pressure up, to sustain it and keep it going for four quarters and [North] were able to just finish off with some goals in that last quarter.”

Sydney were too powerful across the ground, with young guns Chad Warner, Errol Gulden and Nick Blakey leading the charge.

But veterans Tom Hickey, Sam Reid and dynamic forward-midfielder Tom Papley were also influential.

Superstar Lance Franklin, who on Saturday declared he was putting contract talks with the club on hold until the end of the season, ended with four goals after North defender Aidan Corr restricted the legendary goal-kicker early in the game.

North (2-18) suffered a pre-game blow when key defender Ben McKay (shoulder) was withdrawn and replaced by Josh Walker, who played the first few minutes in the Kangaroos’ VFL game at Arden St before being taken off.

Larkey was clearly the Kangaroos’ best, while midfielder Luke Davies-Uniacke put in another outstanding performance in his career-best season.

“We thought we played some really good patches of footy, and then at times we thought we were too easy to score against,” caretaker North coach Leigh Adams said.

“We got a really good lesson, the margin could have got out further, but to the boys credit they fought in really hard, but just too inconsistent.”

The Swans are back at the SCG next Sunday for a mammoth clash with the red-hot Magpies in a crucial battle to make-up the top-four, while the Kangaroos travel to play Adelaide on Saturday to face the Crows.

Blair to request recount in tight race for Montgomery Co. executive

In the too-close-to-call race for Montgomery County executive, David Blair plans to request a full recount.

In the too-close-to-call race for Montgomery County executive, David Blair plans to request a full recount.

“After several weeks of counting and virtually all votes recorded, the Associated Press has declared this race too close to call. Given the extremely close margin, we will be requesting a full recount and are hopeful that the outcome will be in our favor,” Blair said in a news release Sunday morning.

The final 34 votes will be counted Sunday in the race between Blair and incumbent Marc Elrich.

After a day of canvassing and counting provisional ballots, election workers were sent home Saturday night with incumbent Elrich leading challenger Blair by just 42 votes. Elrich had 39.2%, with 55,469 votes. Blair had 39.17%, with 55,427 votes.

Elrich declared himself the winner late Saturday night, saying in a statement that he was honored to become the Democratic nominee after a long and “certainly exciting” primary.

“Now, with the certain results, we must work together to ensure Montgomery County remains solidly Democratic and turns out for Wes Moore and our entire Democratic ticket,” he said.

Under state election law, the trailing candidate can request a recount within three days of the certification of the vote.

This year’s close race is a repeat of the last Democratic primary for county executive, where in 2018, Elrich edged out Blair by just 77 votes.

State election officials told WTOP they hope to have completed and certified Maryland’s primary election votes by Aug. 12.

Key Moments of Donald Trump’s CPAC Speech as Critic Brands it ‘Frightening’

Former President Donald Trump spoke for almost two hours as he closed out the Conservative Political Action Conference on Saturday.

In his remarks, he described a country that has been destroyed since he left office and outlined the steps Republicans should take if they win back control of Congress in November.

He decried the inclusion of transgender athletes on women’s sports teams, and reiterated calls for drug dealers to get the death penalty and homeless people to be moved to tent cities.

Trump’s speech was “unapologetic fascism,” Michael Hardy, a senior editor at Texas Monthly, said in a tweet.

“This might be most frightening speech I’ve ever heard,” Hardy wrote, adding that it indicated that the former president’s rhetoric is “significantly more extreme than even a few years ago.”

However, not everyone agreed. Mark Pukita, a Republican who ran for Senate in Ohio this year, said Trump was naming a “list of what Americans want.”

Here, Newsweek you’ve rounded up some key moments from the former president’s speech.

‘America is on the edge of an abyss’

Trump began his speech by declaring the US “is being destroyed more from the inside than out.”

“America is on the edge of an abyss and our movement is the only force on earth that can save it,” he said. “What we do in the next few months and the next few years will determine with American civilization will collapse or fail or whether it will triumph and thrive frankly like never before. This is no time for complacency.”

He said that Republicans must “run aggressive, unrelenting and boldly populist” campaigns. A priority for the next president, he said, will be to “drain the swamp once and for all and remove rogue bureaucrats and root out the Deep State.”

‘Drenched in blood of innocent victims’

“The streets of our Democrat-run cities are drenched with the blood of innocent victims,” Trump claimed.

“Gun battles rage between bloodthirsty street gangs. Bullets tear into crowds at random, killing wonderful beautiful little children that never even had a chance. Carjackers lay in wait like predators hunting their prey.”

Hardy described those comments as “some literal blood-and-soil rhetoric.”

‘Hold the Biden administration accountable’

The November midterms need to be “a national referendum on the horrendous catastrophes radical Democrats have inflicted in our country,” Trump said.

The Republican Party “needs to campaign on a clear pledge that if they are given power, they’re going to fight with everything that they had to shut down the border, stop the crime wave, beat inflation and hold the Biden administration accountable.”

He said job number one for the next Congress and president is “restore public safety.”

‘Felt very strong’

Trump mocked former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson’s testimony alleging he grabbed at the steering wheel of the presidential SUV when the Secret Service refused to let him go to the Capitol on January 6, 2021.

“How about that phoney story?” Trump said.

He went on to suggest that he was flattered at the idea that he could take on “big, strong” Secret Service agents, referring to Hutchinson’s testimony that Trump lunged at Secret Service special agent Bobby Engel.

“I wasn’t sure if I should be honored ’cause I felt very strong,” he said.

‘We will keep men out of women’s sports’

“We will keep men out of women’s sports,” Trump said, before bringing Riley Gaines, a University of Kentucky swimmer who has been critical of transgender swimmer Lia Thomas, on stage.

“Just to show you how ridiculous it is, look at me. I’m much bigger and much stronger than her. There’s no way she could beat me in swimming. Do we all agree?”

Trump also said: “No teacher should ever be allowed to teach transgender to our children without parental consent.”

‘I loved looking at my body’

Trump also boasted about how former White House doctor Ronny Jackson “loved” looking at his body.

“He was a great doctor,” Trump said. “He was an admiral, a doctor and now he’s a congressman. I said, which is the best if you had your choice?

“He loved looking at my body. It was so strong, powerful. But he said I’m the healthiest president that’s ever lived. I was the healthiest. I said, I like this guy.”

‘The woman brings chaos’

Trump took a moment to swipe at House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, criticizing her trip to Taiwan.

He said: “Crazy Nancy Pelosi… What was she doing in Taiwan? Everything she touches turns to—I do not want to say it cause I don’t want them to say I used foul language.”

He went on: “I got impeached twice. She failed twice. The woman brings chaos. And that’s exactly what’s happening. What’s happened in China, Taiwan, what’s going on – she played right into their hands because now they have an excuse to do whatever they’re doing.”

Relocate homeless people in ‘tent cities’

Trump also reiterated his calls for homeless people to be moved to “tent cities” on the outskirts of major US cities.

“It’s also time to take back out streets and public spaces from the homeless and the drug addicted and the dangerously deranged,” he said.

“The only way you’d going to remove the homeless encampments and reclaim our downtowns is to open up large parcels, large tracts of relatively inexpensive land on the outer skirts of the various cities and bring in medical professionals, psychiatrists, psychologists and drug rehab specialists and create tent cities… We have to relocate the homeless until they can get their lives back.”

Death penalty for drug dealers

Trump also repeated his calls to impose the death penalty on drug dealers.

“If you look at countries throughout the world, the only ones that don’t have a drug problem are those that institute the death penalty for drug dealers,” he said.

He said Chinese President Xi Jinping had told him that his country dos not have a drug problem because it executes drug dealers after “a quick trial.”

While acknowledging that “it sounds horrible,” Trump said such policies would effectively reduce drug trafficking in the US

Bring back ‘stop and frisk’

The “tried and true” strategy of stop-and-frisk must return, Trump said, referencing the highly controversial policing tactic.

“Instead of taking the guns from law-abiding Americans let’s take them away from the violent felons and career criminals for a change,” he said.

5 tips that still work in 2022

Many players want to know how to fix Fortnite lag as they deal with connection issues. Considering that the battle royale game requires a constant internet connection, it becomes a problem for those who have packages with low bandwidth.

If you’re wondering why Fortnite is laggy, chances are that the servers are completely fine and that your settings or setup is simply not good enough. Fortunately, this is something that can be fixed.

In this article, we will share five tips on how to fix Fortnite lag in 2022. By following this guide, you will definitely see an improvement in your latency and it will help you dominate the competition.

Follow these tips on how to fix Fortnite lag and you will see improvement

1) Use a hardwired connection

Why is Fortnite laggy? Because Wi-Fi is not a great option (Image via Wikimedia Commons)

We can all agree that Wi-Fi is one of the best things ever. Everyone loves a wireless connection and we are at a point where we cannot imagine our lives without it. However, using a Wi-Fi connection for gaming is a bad idea, and if you want to know how to fix Fortnite lag, you need to start with this.

Whether you are on a PC or a gaming console, you need to use an Ethernet cable (pictured above) to connect your gaming system to the internet. This connection is less convenient because it requires a cable, but will bring a massive performance boost.

If you measure your connection speed on Wi-Fi and Ethernet (cable), chances are that the numbers you get will be identical. However, download and upload speeds don’t tell the entire story as numerous other factors play a big role.

Wi-Fi is simply not reliable for online gaming and if you are using it, that is the reason why Fortnite is laggy. Ethernet cable has no interference, which is what makes it much more consistent for data transmission. Wi-Fi, on the other hand, is affected by a lot of different signals, including signals from your cell phone.

If you are on a wireless connection and want to know how to fix Fortnite lag, here is your solution.

2) Select the correct region

Fortnite Battle Royale is popular all over the globe and that is why it has numerous servers on every continent. Many players don’t know that they can manually change regions, which is why Fortnite is laggy for them.

If you select the server that is closest to you, your delay will usually be under 50 milliseconds (0.05 seconds). However, choosing a distant server can result in a 300-millisecond delay, which is one-third of a second.

To find out how to fix Fortnite lag, follow the steps below:

  • Open Main Menu
  • Go to Settings
  • Switch to the second tab of the settings
  • Go to Matchmaking Region
  • Select the region that has the lowest delay (shown in ms)

The default setting is Auto, but that is not always recommended. Furthermore, if you play with your friends who are in other regions, your game will sometimes switch to their region and cause additional lag.

3) Change your gaming device

If you're not sure how to fix Fortnite lag, you may need another gaming device (Image via Epic Games)

If you’ve followed many guides on how to fix Fortnite lag and you still have a latency problem, there is a chance that your gaming system is simply not good enough for the video game.

This should not be a problem with PlayStation and Xbox gaming consoles as the game is optimized for them. However, Nintendo Switch and mobile players often run into a lot of issues with the game. Furthermore, low-end PCs are not recommended for Fortnite Battle Royale.

Mobile phone users constantly play the game on a wireless connection, which causes additional problems. The key to getting the best performance on a mobile phone is proper cooling, so make sure that your phone has enough airflow and doesn’t heat up too much.

Epic Games also released a Performance mode last year, which intends to maximize performance by lowering graphics.

4) Check your internet connection

How to fix Fortnite lag? Start by checking your internet connection (Image via Wikimedia Commons)

If you are not the only user of your internet connection, you should first check to see how stable your internet is. There are numerous websites where you can test your connection, such as Speedtest by Ookla.

An unstable internet connection is a big reason that causes Fortnite to lag, which is why you should periodically check it.

When you open the website, let it run for a few seconds and test your internet speed. Once the test is over, you will get results for both download and upload speeds, as well as ping. You need at least 3 Mbps download and 2 Mbps upload speed to play the game without any problems.

If your internet package meets these specifications, you need to check if everything is fine with your router or if someone else in your household is using your internet connection for demanding tasks. For example, if you have a 30 Mbps download speed, yet someone in your household is watching Netflix in 4K quality, chances are that you will get constant interruptions.

5) Upgrade your internet

You may need to upgrade your internet package (Image via Mohamed Hassan)

If you’ve followed the previous steps and you still need to know how to fix Fortnite lag, there is a chance that you will need to upgrade your internet package.

However, before you make this move, please run several speed tests and contact your internet service provider for information about your current package. Before you decide to upgrade your package and improve your internet speed, you need to find out how good your current package is.

Many internet service providers use outdated equipment which may be causing connection problems. If your router is fine and your cables are not damaged, upgrading to a better package may be the only solution that will help you.

Hamstring injury could spell “season over” for Kennedy as Cunnington makes VFL return

Sydney midfielder Josh Kennedy may not play again in 2022 after injuring his hamstring in Sunday’s VFL win against North Melbourne at Arden Street Oval.

While the Swans prevailed 75-95, Kennedy was only able to muster the 10 disposals as he limped off the ground early in the game.

Kennedy’s year has been hampered by hamstring issues as he last played at senior level in Round 10 against Carlton.

It’s unfortunate timing for the 290-game veteran who was nearing a return as signaled by his selection as the Swans’ medical substitute in last weekend’s win over GWS.

In better news, North Melbourne champion Ben Cunnington fared well in his long-awaited return for the Kangaroos.

Cunnington last played at any level in Round 19 of last season having battled testicular cancer.

After more than a year out, the 31-year-old picked up 18 disposals and three clearances.

For Sydney, James Bell (two goals, 25 disposals), Sam Wicks (three goals, 27 disposals), Peter Ladhams (26 disposals, 17 hitouts) and Joel Amartey (three goals) were standouts as they look to return to AFL level ahead of endings.

As well as Cunnington, Tarryn Thomas (one goal, 20 disposals) and Atu Bosenavulagi (20 disposals) were strong in defeat for the Kangaroos

Senate ‘vote-a-rama’ continues as Democrats eye finish line for sweeping climate and health care bill

The amendment process, known on Capitol Hill as a “vote-a-rama,” started Saturday night shortly after 11:30 pm ET. A final vote on the bill will take place when amendment votes end, the timing of which it is not yet clear.

The package is the product of painstaking negotiations and will give Democrats a chance to achieve major policy objectives ahead of the upcoming midterm elections.

Once the legislation has passed in the Senate, it would next need to be approved by the House of Representatives before President Joe Biden could sign it into law. The House is poised to come back to take up the legislation this Friday, according to House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer’s office.

Senate Democrats only need a simple majority for the final passage of the bill since they are using a process known as reconciliation, which allows them to avoid a Republican filibuster and corresponding 60-vote threshold.

In order to pass a bill through the reconciliation process, however, the package must comply with a strict set of budget rules. And Republicans are using the vote-a-rama to put Democrats on the spot and force politically tough votes.

As expected, key insulin provisions were struck out of the bill after Republicans raised a point of order, resulting in a vote to strip them out.

The final vote was 57-43. A 60-vote threshold was needed to keep the provision in place.

The provisions initially included in the bill would have limited insulin prices to $35 per month in both the private insurance market as well as through Medicare. But the Senate parliamentarian ruled that the cap on insulin in the private insurance market was not compliant with the reconciliation rules Democrats are utilizing to push their legislation through the chamber.

Democrats kept both provisions in the bill anyway, but Republicans raised a point of order to force a vote to strike the provisions only from the private marketplace. The Medicare $35 insulin cap remains in place.

Meanwhile, Senate Democrats were looking at making some late changes to the tax provisions in the bill before the chamber’s expected vote on the package Sunday afternoon, according to West Virginia Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin. It’s unclear exactly what is being discussed or how significant the changes would be. Manchin suggested Democrats may offer an amendment on the floor to reflect these changes.

This story has been updated with additional developments.

Have You Cleared Your iPhone Cache This Month?

your iPhone lets you browse the internet for virtually anything. Looking for a new recipe? Easy. Need a new internet provider? You can do that, too. Trying to figure out which actor appeared in the most 007 movies? Just search online. (The answer: Desmond Llewelyn, who appeared as Q in 17 Bond films from the ’60s through the ’90s.)

But here’s the thing: Whether you do your browsing in Chrome, Safari or elsewhere, your cache builds up digital clutter over time. Clearing your cache gives your browser a new start, which can speed up your browsing whether you’re using iOS 15 or the public beta of iOS 16. (And if you’re trying to get your phone to run faster, try managing your iPhone’s storage.)

CNET Tech Tips logo

Clearing your cache is like clearing out your fridge. When you visit a site, your iPhone downloads photos, banners and other data. To make that process faster, most browsers store some data in a cache to make loading faster. It’s great when the fridge is fully stocked and you can quickly grab what you need… and less great when the thing you grab expired two months ago.

Eventually, your browser’s cache will become outdated and the data being retrieved no longer matches the data actually being used on the website. The result? Slower load speeds and wonky website formatting. This is the equivalent of your fridge being full of gross, expired products.

That’s why clearing your cache can help: It gives sites a fresh start in your browser and frees up some space in your storage. Note that clearing your cache will sign you out of sites you’re currently logged into. Still, it’s generally worth that mild inconvenience about every month to keep things moving quickly.

Here are step-by-step guides on how to clear your cache on your iPhone based on the browser you use.

What happens when you clear the cache?

Clearing your cache removes the website data your phone stored locally to prevent having to download that data upon each new visit. The data in your cache builds over time and can end up slowing things down if it becomes too bulky. (My phone had about 150MB of data stored in Chrome when I checked.) Clearing that data gives sites a fresh start, which may fix some loading errors and speed up your browser. However, clearing your cache also signs you out of pages, so be prepared to sign in to everything again.

How often do I need to clear my cache?

Most people only need to clear their caches once every month or two. That’s generally the point when your browser will build up a cache large enough to start slowing things down. If you frequent a large number of sites, you should err on the side of clearing your cache more often.

Kangaroos squad, Mal Meninga, World Cup teams, Nation eligibility, Joseph Suaalii, Roosters young gun, news, highlights

Kangaroos coach Mal Meninga has dropped his biggest selection hint yet, revealing Roosters young gun Joseph Suaalii is a “genuine selection option”.

Meninga has a big job on his hands ahead of this year’s World Cup, with a number of players opting to represent their nation of heritage as opposed to the Kangaroos.

Maroons gun Josh Papalii will reportedly ply his trade for Samoa, joining Jarome Luai and Brian To’o, while Felise Kaufusi, Siosifa Talakai, Daniel Tupou and Kotoni Staggs are set to represent Tonga.

But in a huge boost, the Kangaroos are set to pick the Tricolours 19-year-old flyer in the Australian squad — should he chose to represent his country of birth.

Suaalii is currently in his first full season of first grade and was included in Brad Fittler’s Blues squad, scoring 13 NRL tries to date.

“I’m a fan of Joseph, absolutely, and he is right in the picture, particularly if the Roosters keep their run going to the finals,” Meninga said to the SMH.

“He is a genuine selection option, definitely. He’s just a talent. He has always been a talent. I like his courage from him.

“I remember ‘Izzy’ (Israel Folau) came in at a young age, so did ‘GI’ (Greg Inglis), so if you’re talking about age, there are no questions about Joseph handling the international stage.”

Meninga also referenced reports suggesting Australia’s rival code were in pursuit of the young gun, revealing it is “hardly a shock” the Wallabies could make a play.

“I read the reports that the Wallabies are looking at him, which is hardly a shock. They wouldn’t be doing their job if they weren’t looking at league players like him and wanting him to convert,” Meninga said.

“We do the same thing. Because Joseph has played union before, it only made it inevitable. He’s right in the mix for us.”

The Kangaroos incumbent wingers from their last game played in 2019 are Josh Addo-Carr and Nick Cotric.

With Cotric is unlikely to feature, and Addo-Carr being tipped for selection on the edge, Suaalii could find himself in the green and gold.

Suaalii made his intentions clear earlier in the week, making it clear he wants to compete in the end-of-year showcase.

“I honestly haven’t thought about it too much but I want to be there playing at the World Cup,” Suaalii said.

“I’m trying to make that Australian team and if I’m lucky enough I’ll make that Samoan team as well.

“If I get picked for either of them it would be an honour. If I’m playing at the World Cup I’ll be happy.”

NYC smash-and-grab nets over $2 million in jewelry: NYPD

A classic smash-and-grab heist in the Bronx netted a clutch of thieves more $2.15 million in “high-end diamond jewelry” during a wild, caught-on-video robbery on Friday, police said.

The foursome scurried into Rocco’s Jewelry on Webster Ave. in Fordham after they were buzzed in by a manager, cops said.

Surveillance video shows a suspect, clad in a white T-shirt and a black cap and wearing sunglasses, acting like a customer when he’s buzzed in around 2:30 pm Instead of going inside, the man let in the robbery crew, video shows.

It was reported to police that on Friday, August 5, 2022 at approximately 1438 hours, at Rocco's Jewelry located at 2521 Webster Avenue, an unknown individual approached the front door and was buzzed inside of the store by an employee. This individual then held the door open for an additional three individuals. Once inside the store, the three individuals used a hammer to smash open the display cases and removed a large amount of high-end diamond jewelry. The jewelry was placed into bags being carried by the individuals, who fled the location on a foot heading southbound on Webster Avenue. The total value of stolen property is approximately $2.15 million. No injuries were reported.
The caper lasted about 30 seconds, the security footage shows.
