Two North Melbourne greats have reportedly stunned teammates with a heated bust-up and needed to be separated while at the Yarraville Railway Hotel in Melbourne for a premiership reunion on Saturday.
The feud between Wayne Carey and Anthony Stevens ripped the Kangaroos apart in 2002 after Carey’s infamous affair with Stevens’ wife, Kellie.
But the pair clashed again, despite reports their relationship had improved, at the 1996 premiership meeting after Carey allegedly accused Stevens of talking behind his back and being two-faced.
Other reports say they were discussing how the affair impacted their mental health.
The altercation is reported to have become so heated the pair were separated, but there were no allegations of violence.
However, Stevens missed the club’s motorcade around Marvel Stadium ahead of the North Melbourne, and Swans clash the next day.
The current club director was also not in photos taken at the ground, while Carey was seen taking pictures with the cup.
The club says he could not attend due to illness before he traveled interstate on Monday.
Carey’s affair was caught out ahead of the 2002 season when Stevens and other teammates found him and Kellie in the bathroom at a birthday party.
The affair made headlines around the nation and saw the Kangaroos champion sit out the following season and leave the club for Adelaide in disgrace.
Carey played 244 games at North Melbourne, kicking 671 goals before a further 28 matches for the Crows.
