Next month, the first video game adaptation of the hit anime series Made in Abyss will be hitting the Switch. And thanks to the eShop and Nintendo Everything, we might have a good idea how big a hole you’ll need to dig to make room for the game.
The upcoming RPG from Spike Chunsoft, Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling into Darkness, will have both a retelling of the anime (with production supervised by the creator Akihito Tsukushi) plus an original story set after main characters Riko and Reg leave for the Abyss .
Luckily, the game doesn’t seem to need much space, with the eShop stating it will take up approximately 5.9GB. That’s a little bigger than Super Mario Odyssey’s 5.5GB, but comparable to other RPGs on the system such as Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch (5.7GB) and Atelier Shallie: Alchemists of the Dusk Sea DX (5.9GB).
So, despite the game being packed with two different modes, this cave isn’t too deep at all! Of course, as with all Switch file sizes pre-release, this is subject to change, but it doesn’t seem like you’ll need to carve out a ton of space for this upcoming game.
We’re sure fans are anticipating the game’s 2nd September release, and we are too. Let us know what you think of the upcoming Made in Abyss action RPG in the comments!
be quiet! is celebrating its 20th anniversary. The first product under the brand be quiet! was released in 2002: a noise-dampening mat. In 2014, the first be quiet! chassis saw the light of day.
be quiet!, the German manufacturer for premium PC components, is today celebrating its 20th anniversary. Founded near Hamburg, Germany as a distribution company for PC components, Listan GmbH soon saw potential in silent PC components. The first product under the brand “be quiet!” was released in 2002: a noise-dampening mat, followed in 2003 by a PC power supply equipped with noise-minimizing technology. In 2009, be quiet! introduced the first Silent Wings case fan, followed by CPU coolers one year later. In 2014, the first be quiet! chassis saw the light of day.
In the past 20 years, be quiet! has introduced critical acclaimed products such as the Silent Wings fan series and the Dark Rock CPU cooler series, and ground-breaking high-end products such as the Dark Base Pro 900 PC chassis and Dark Power Pro 12 PSU. To celebrate this important milestone, be quiet! is introducing a new FX product range to its portfolio, consisting of the Pure Base 500 FX chassis, Pure Loop 2 FX AIO water cooler series, and Pure Rock 2 FX air cooler. The connecting theme of these FX products is easy to spot: be quiet! has fully embraced ARGB!
Pure Base 500FX What happens when you improve one of be quiet!’s most popular PC cases, the Pure Base 500DX, with more ARGB features? The result is the Pure Base 500 FX, which offers the same design, rounded feature set and easy installation options found in its predecessor, but adds ARGB light effects inside the chassis and additional cooling fans by replacing the three Pure Wings 2 140 mm fans with four Light Wings ARGB fans (3x 120mm and 1x 140mm). A hub for up to six ARGB devices and six PWM fans is included with the Pure Base 500 FX for easier control. Pure Base 500 FX is available in at a recommended retail price of $149.90 / €149.90 / £146.99.
Pure Loop 2 FX Compared to the current Pure Loop series, Pure Loop 2 FX brings stunning improvements to the table for this AIO water cooler: the white LEDs around the cooling block are replaced with ARGB LEDs, while the Pure Wings 2 PWM high-speed fans on the radiator make room for Light Wings PWM high-speed fans for higher static pressure and better visual effects. By popular demand the pump is now PWM-adjustable, allowing better fine-tuning of the performance/noise balance. On top of that, the water cooler includes an ARGB and PWM fan hub. Pure Loop 2 FX is available in three models at a recommended retail price of $129.90 / €129.90 / £123.90 (240mm), $139.90 / €139.90 / £129.99 (280mm), and $154.90 / €154.90 / £144.99 (360mm). ).
Pure Rock 2 FX Last but not least, the popular mainstream Pure Rock 2 air cooler has received an FX-style upgrade as well, where the Pure Wings 2 120 mm PWM fan is replaced with a Light Wings 120 mm PWM high-speed for better performance and ARGB support. . Pure Rock 2 FX will be available at a recommended retail price of $52.90 / €52.90 / £46.99.
All FX products are available online and in stores as of today. In the months of August and September, select partners offer these products at special promotional prices that are up to $30 / €30 under the suggested retail prices. Please check the dedicated landing page for a list of participating partners, more information on the history of be quiet!, or a global anniversary raffle.

A co-founder at Among Us developer Innersloth has explained how the studio almost stopped active development of the social game in 2019.
Innersloth’s Marcus Bromhander appeared on the Visionaries Podcast last week (July 27) and talked about how the team was “basically done” with the game’s development in 2019 (transcription via PCGamesN).
“We were basically done with [Among Us] at the start of 2019,” said Bromhander, after the game was released in late 2018 and received updates and extra content before 2019.
Bromhander added that the team thought “that’s it, no more, time to work on something else,” and that some staff started “prototyping some other game ideas that got pretty far.”
Check out the full podcast episode below:
It was around this time in early 2019 that InnerSloth saw its social deduction game get immensely popular, so the studio changed its mind and decided to continue developing and supporting the idea.
“Should we do Among Us 2 or should we update the game that everyone is already playing?” added Bromander. “There’s so many people playing, I wanted to experience releasing updates like that to a lot of people.”
It was then in late 2020 that InnerSloth announced it was canceling plans for an Among Us 2instead opting to push all the ideas for content into the original game.
The updates for Among Us are still coming as well, as it has had crossovers with both Space Warlord Organ Trading Simulator and Fortnite in the last few months alone.
In other news, it’s been revealed that developers and publishers at Gamescom 2022 could be paying upwards of £71,000 to show a game off during Opening Night Live. Developers will need to pay not just for the spot itself, but also make sure the studio has a presence on the show floor.
Every year, and with every iOS update, it seems Apple tries to do something new when it comes to iPhone notifications. We’re not talking about reinventing the wheel or going the Android route — just incremental changes that improve your quality of life, at least as it pertains to your device.
With iOS 16, you get more options than ever to customize how notifications appear on the lock screen (which also has customization options for the first time). You can even make notifications disappear with a simple pinch-in gesture.
To get started, go to Settings > Notifications > Display As.
note: This is an iOS 16 feature which is currently available as a Public Beta. The feature will be widely available in fall 2022.
There are three ways to view notifications on the iOS 16 lock screen. By default, they now show up at the bottom of the screen instead of in the middle. This is the newStack” option, which places related notifications (from the same app, or conversation), atop one another in stacks, so they don’t take up a lot of space. To see all of your notifications, tap on the stacks to expand them. (If you prefer the old way, you can switch to the “List” option which will display all notifications individually.)
By far the most interesting customization option is the “Count” feature. Enable it and you’ll see only a simple “(N)Notifications” count at the bottom of the screen when you have new notifications. This serves as a subtle reminder that you have notifications, but they won’t scream at you — you won’t even be able to see which app is pinging you until you tap or swipe up on the count, at which point the notifications will expand into a stack.
How to switch between notification options with a gesture
And here’s the cool part: You can switch between Count, Stack, and List on the fly, without going to Settings first. Any time you have notifications on the Lock Screen, pinch in or out on the display, and you can go from Count to Stacks to List and back in mere seconds.
These new notification display options are one of the many small, hidden features in iOS 16. If you’re new to the update, take a look at our detailed guide to see what else you can do.
Be quiet! has redesigned its liquid cooling line, meet the Pure Loop 2 FX. Not only does the LCS CPU cooler offer fresh looks with new aRGB LEDs, but it is also more silent with a PWM-based pump. And that pump sits unusually between tubing, conceivably in order to deflect an Asetek patent.

Security issue fixed in version 22.1.1 of file transfer software
A security vulnerability in file transfer software CompleteFTP allowed unauthenticated attackers to delete arbitrary files on affected installations.
Developed by EnterpriseDT of Australia, CompleteFTP is a proprietary FTP and SFTP server for Windows that supports FTPS, SFTP, and HTTPS.
A security researcher with the handle rgod discovered a flaw in the class that results from the lack of proper validation of a user-supplied path prior to using it in file operations.

“This vulnerability allows remote attackers to delete arbitrary files on affected installations of EnterpriseDT CompleteFTP server,” a security advisory explains.
“An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to delete files in the context of SYSTEM.”
The issue was assigned CVE-2022-2560 and was fixed in CompleteFTP version 22.1.1.
This release includes other security enhancements in the form of SHA-2 cryptographic hash function for RSA signatures and a new format for PuTTY private keys.
The Daily Swig has approached EnterpriseDT for comment.

Three months after the last kernel release, Linux Kernel 5.19 is finally here. This exciting release brings plenty of improvements to every aspect of the kernel and opens up opportunities with new hardware.
The most interesting part is that the Linux creator Linus Torvalds used an Apple MacBook, the Arm version, to announce this release.
Don’t get your pitch fork out just yet. Torvalds used Asahi Linux, a project dedicated to adding Linux support to Apple’s Arm-based Silicon Macbooks.
On a personal note, the most interesting part here is that I did the release (and am writing this) on an arm64 laptop. It’s something I’ve been waiting for for a long time, and it’s finally reality, thanks to the Asahi team. We’ve had arm64 hardware around running Linux for a long time, but none of it has really been usable as a development platform until now.
That’s interesting. And this is the third time Torvalds used Apple hardware for Linux development.
Linux Kernel 5.19: What’s New?
As with all previous releases, Linux Kernel 5.19 has a lot of technical changes. However, there are only a few major ones that will have a direct impact on users, so we will focus on those here.
If you are interested in all the low-level code changes, you can refer to the official changelog.
LoongArch CPU Architecture Support
Over the past few years, it has been interesting to see Chinese chip manufacturers attempt to catch up to Intel and AMD. One way they have tried to do this is by creating their architectures, which are generally compatible with existing architectures.
One of the most successful of these companies is Longson. However, due to their new architecture, the software support for these CPUs was pretty limited.
Starting with this release, these CPUs have initial support (it won’t work for booting) and will likely soon have packages ported to them.
We should see more progress on this with Linux Kernel 5.20.
32-bit RISC-V Apps on 64-bit RISC-V
As has been the case for recent releases, Linux Kernel 5.19 greatly improves support for the open-source RISC-V architecture. This time, this comes in the form of allowing 32-bit RISC-V apps to run on 64-bit RISC-V systems.
Very few 32-bit RISC-V CPUs can run Linux, meaning very few Linux packages are designed for them. And those packages already have 64-bit counterparts.
Even if its usefulness is limited, it is good to see RISC-V being treated as a first-class architecture and getting more improvements to bring it closer to mainstream feasibility.
Improved Arc Alchemist Support
It’s no surprise that Intel’s initial Arc Alchemist GPU launch is a disaster so far, Linux Kernel 5.19 is the first release where you could assume these GPUs are usable on Linux.
This release finally brings compute support to the Linux kernel. It is somewhat surprising this code was not merged earlier, but at least the support exists now.
The other major Arc improvement is significantly better power management. This comes in the form of a small tweak in Linux’s PCIe subsystem that treats the Arc GPUs as unlimited, enabling PCI Express Active State Power Management in far more configurations.
In essence, this change means that the GPU can now be put into an extremely low power mode when not in use, yielding some significant power savings.
Improved ARM SoC Support
This release brings support to several new ARM SoCs. This time around, 7 new SoCs have been added to the list, specifically:
Renesas RZ/G2UL (R9A07G043)
Renesas RZ/V2M (R9A09G011)
Renesas R-Car V4H (R8A779G0)
Broadcom BCM47622
Corstone1000
Mediatek MT8195 (Kompanio 1200)
NXP i.MXRT1050
In addition, Apple’s M1 chip also gained some improved support. This comes from a new driver for the on-chip NVMe controller. Now, users wanting to be able of NVMe storage on their Apple Silicon Macs are able to do so, thanks to the contribution by the Asahi Linux project.
Significantly Reduced Boot Times For Azure VMs
Azure users, you are in for a good improvement. Thanks to a contribution by Microsoft, Azure VMs using multiple GPUs can have as many as 3 minutes shaved off their boot times!
To achieve this, Microsoft changed their PCI Hyper-V driver to avoid setting “PCI_COMMAND_MEMORY”, which stops the driver sending/receiving heaps of unnecessary data from each GPU, saving around 14 seconds of boot time per GPU.
Other Changes
In addition to the ones I mentioned above, Linux Kernel 5.19 also includes
Raspberry Pi Sense Hat joystick driver
Various BTRFS improvements
New Intel IFS driver
Intel Raptor Lake P graphics support.
Alder lake improvements.
Initial support for AMD RDNA3 graphics.
Performance optimizations as reported by Phoronix.
Overall, these changes make up for a pretty decent release. Although there aren’t any major changes, Linux Kernel 5.19 continues to build on the great work of the past few Linux releases.
How to Install Linux Kernel 5.19?
If you are using Arch Linux or Fedora, you can easily upgrade shortly. But, if you are using other Linux distributions (Pop!_OS can be an exception to some extent), you may not receive an upgrade.
So, if you are feeling adventurous (and know what you are doing), you can find the newer kernel listed on Linux Kernel Archives. You can download the tarball to test it out.
However, we recommend waiting for your Linux distribution to push an update if you do not want to take any chances. It is best to stick to what’s being offered for your Linux distribution by default.

Even though Super Smash Bros. Ultimate “ended” with the release of the last Fighters Pass character — Kingdom Hearts’ Sora — it still hasn’t felt “over” for us. That’s because Masahiro Sakurai, Mr. Smash Bros. himself, has continued a long-standing tradition of posting a new screenshot from the game every single day.
We’re envious of pretty much all of them, as Sakurai managed to capture characters, locations, and moments in such a perfect way that really understands the characters. In fact, seeing these screenshots every day has brought us a little bit of happiness — and envy. But it looks like this tradition might soon be over, as Sakurai has admitted on Twitter that he’s almost run out of screens!
Calling it a “workday ritual”, the Smash Bros. series director admits he even took an extra 200 “as we were wrapping up development”, which means he’s had some of these stored for a while now!
With today’s announcement, Sakurai shared his next shot — one of Wii Fit Trainer in Flat Zone X bouncing off of the Fire lifenet.
Sakurai hasn’t specified how many screens he has left, but it’s got to be less than 30 if we’re running out this month.
Fans have flocked to Twitter to mourn the end of this tradition, and also thank Sakurai for continuing to share screenshots from the game. The shots regularly rack up thousands of likes and retweets on the platform, so it’ll be weird not seeing them on our timeline every day. But Sakurai deserves a break, for sure.
A few months ago, we rounded up some of our favorite screenshots from Sakurai’s Twitter, so have a little peruse before going on over to his account (where you can also fawn over his adorable kitty) to find some more recent ones.
Have you enjoyed seeing these Smash Ultimate screens every day? Will you miss them once Sakurai have finished uploading them? Let us know!
