Princess Mary and Prince Frederik confirm Prince Christian and Princess Isabella will go to new schools after Herlufsholm bullying scandal | Danish royal family

Crown Princess Mary and Crown Prince Frederick of Denmark have announced they’re sending their two eldest children to new schools in the wake of a damaging bullying scandal.

The Danish royal household issued a statement on Sunday confirming Prince Christian, 16, and Princess Isabella, 15, will start at separate schools this week.

The decision was made after “the Crown Prince’s family’s deliberations during the summer”, the palace said.

The family has recently returned to Copenhagen after their summer break at Gråsten Palace.

Prince Christian, who is heir to the Danish throne after his father, will start at the Ordrup Gymnasium (Ordrup High School) in Gentofte, north of Copenhagen.

Princess Isabella will start at Ingrid Jespersens Gymnasieskole (Ingrid Jespersen’s High School) in Copenhagen.

Last month, Princess Mary and Prince Frederik pulled Prince Christian out of the Herlufsholm Boarding School after claims of bullying were brought to light.

They also confirmed Princess Isabella would not be attending the prestigious school as planned.

The Crown Prince couple issued a statement saying they would decide on new schools for their children after allegations emerged of a violent culture filled with abuse and bullying at Herlufsholm.

Students have also accused the school and its staff of covering up their stories of abuse.

“The question about our son Christian’s and our daughter Isabella’s choice of school has been very important for us, and the unfortunate matter has brought many and strong opinions into play in the public,” Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary said in a joint statement on June 25.

“That is completely understandable when it deals with the well-being of children and young people. At the same time, it has been important to stand by our basic idea that major decisions must be made on an informed basis. We now have that basis.” .”

Their message came after the release of a preliminary decision from Denmark’s National Agency for Education and Quality that “directs a particularly harsh critique” of Herlufsholm.

“It has been a difficult process for us as a family, but, based on the overall picture and our special position as Crown Prince Couple, we have chosen that Prince Christian will stop at Herlufsholm and that Princess Isabella will not start in ninth class at the school after the summer holiday.

“With thoughts about the many students who will continue at Herlufsholm, it is our hope that the school now gets more peace to ensure the necessary changes and succeeds in creating a culture in which all thrive and feel safe.”

In May, at documentary on TV2 included claims from a student who described being sexually abused by another, another student spoke of corporal punishment and a third described being assaulted during a party at the school.

In November last year, four students were expelled after being accused of taking part in the abuse and filming a number of incidents.

Some students have claimed staff turned a blind eye to their claims.

When the allegations came to light, Princess Mary and her husband issued a swift response expressing their shock and disappointment.

“As parents of a child who goes to Herlufsholm, we are deeply shaken by the testimonies that have emerged in the current documentary about the school,” the Crown Prince couple said on May 4.

“It is heart-breaking to hear about systematic bullying and about the culture of abuse and violence that many have been a part of.

“That is completely unacceptable. As parents, we expect the school to effectively ensure a culture where everyone is safe and part of the community, and we will in the coming time follow the changes that are obviously necessary.”

Prince Christian16, is not connected to the allegations in any way.

In August, 2021, he posed with his mum and dad at Herlufsholm as he began his time at the boarding school.

Herlufsholm was founded in 1565 for Danish nobility and is located 80km outside of Copenhagen in Næstved.

Prince Christian was the first future king to attend the school, although several of his alumni are artists and politicians, including two former prime ministers.

Christian’s cousin Prince Nikolai, who is the eldest son of Prince Joachimis a former student of Herlufsholm and graduated in 2018.

The Danish royal household announced that Prince Christian would start at the school in August last year having finished his education at Tranegårdskolen in Gentofte.

Christian had been at that school from grade one to grade nine.

Around 600 students are enrolled at the school with approximately 275 living on campus.

They follow a 10-day program with lessons on Saturdays followed by a three-day weekend.

The allegations about Herlufsholm follow earlier claims about tough disciplinary practices at the institution.

Herlufsholm School responded to the documentary’s claims in a statement issued on May 3.

The school’s rector Mikkel Kjellberg said many of the allegations contained within the television program were “very old cases have been used from another time – where the culture at Herlufsholm was different”.

He said the bullying and violence were “not part of the culture at Herlufsholm”.

The Block wins first round in battle of the juggernauts

“These guys got on and they just couldn’t handle the pace after 48 hours, which to me is a bit un-Australian,” Cam said. “Have a go!”

Nine teased the controversy in promotions ahead of the season launch, no doubt fueling viewer interest.

Adding spice to the MKR recipe was a new judging line-up: Manu Feildel, who has been with the show for all 11 previous seasons, has been joined by Nigella Lawson, with former MasterChef judge Matt Preston set to join from the second round.

and-while Spicks and Specks made its long-hoped-for return last year with the original line-up of Adam Hills, Alan Brough and Myf Warhurst, this is the first season to have been recorded in front of a live audience since their reunion after a 10-year absence .

There was also another first for the ABC show: it screened an ad, or at any rate a snippet of one, to showcase guest contestant David Novak of the band Polish Club singing a cheesy duet for Domino’s Pizza.

With the shows staggered across the early evening – The Block and MKR started at 7pm, The Masked Singer at 7.30 am Spicks and Specks at 7.40 – competition for viewers was fierce.

MKR grabbed 767,000 viewers nationally to finish second of the reality shows on the night, though there were a couple of caveats. The unmasking segment of The Masked Singerbroken out as a separate program in the ratings figures, beat it, with 791,000 viewers nationally.

And while the main section of The Masked Singer finished well behind MKR with 689,000 viewers, it still won in the crucial metro markets (522,000 to MKR‘s 503,000).

The Masked Singer was, however, down significantly on last year’s launch, when it opened with 642,000 viewers in the five capital cities in overnight ratings (later boosted to 709,000 after catch-up viewing).

loading

MKRby contrast, was up on its last season in 2020, when it pulled just 498,000 metro viewers for its launch episode.

Spicks and Specks, meanwhile, drew 672,000 viewers nationally and 449,000 meters. That was a long way down from last year’s relaunch, which was watched by 953,000 nationally and 665,000 viewers in the five mainland capital cities alone.

Anne Heche: Why the actress’ personal life, including her car crash, has made headlines for decades | explainer

Anne Heche has had a tumultuous career and personal life, and her recent car crash – which saw her intubated at a hospital after suffering severe burns – is the latest in a long line of controversies that have plagued her through the years.

While it’s been reported the actress, 53, is in a “stable condition” and her family and friends have asked for “thoughts and prayers,” it’s also emerged she made some worrying comments shortly before the crash that left her “lucky to be alive.”

Heche is a talented actress, but has also made plenty of headlines because of her personal life.

Anne Heche’s relationship with Ellen DeGeneres

In the 1990s, Heche was an up-and-coming actress, notably receiving a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series in 1991 for her work on Another World – but it was her relationship with Ellen Degeneres that made her tabloid fodder.

Heche and DeGeneres, 64, were together from 1997 to August 2000, and at one point, they even said they would get a civil union if it became legal in Vermont. The pair have never given a clear-cut reason for their break up, though at the time of the split, a source told the DailyNews“The relationship just ran its course … It wasn’t working.”

A statement from the actresses to the publication says: “Unfortunately, we have decided to end our relationship. It is an amicable parting, and we greatly value the 3½ years we have spent together. We hope everyone will respect our privacy through this difficult time .”

Hours after the breakup, it was reported an incoherent and babbling Heche was taken away in an ambulance to hospital after she knocked on a stranger’s door in central California.

“I’m not crazy,” Heche told abcnews later of the incident. “But it’s a crazy life. I was raised in a crazy family and it took 31 years to get the crazy out of me.”

Twenty years on from the split, Heche gave rare insight into her relationship with the former talk-show host to Page Sixclaiming many Hollywood studios were unimpressed by the fact they were two women in a romantic relationship, and that she felt like “patient zero in canceled culture.”

“This wasn’t a long-term love affair. This was a moment in my life when I was given the glory of being able to stand up for what I believe in and have since I was a kid,” Heche said of the relationship .

Heche’s claims are unsurprising given the fact DeGeneres herself has been open about the career slump she faced after coming out in 1997via an episode of her sitcom Ellen and again on the cover of TIME magazine. that year, Ellen was canceled after much backlash (although ‘The Puppy Episode’ won an Emmy and a Peabody Award), and a viewer discretion for ‘adult content’ was placed before each episode of the final season, despite the fact Ellen‘s content was quite tame compared to other popular shows at the time.

Oscar winner Laura Dernwho played the pivotal character Susan, an out lesbian who helped DeGeneres realize she’s gay in ‘The Puppy Episode’, told vulture in 2019 there were bomb threats on-set throughout shooting the storyline, and that she also lost work and needed a “full security detail” after episode aired.

Heche said she felt blacklisted by Hollywood, especially after she took DeGeneres as her date to the red-carpet premiere of volcano in 1997, something she said she did because it was “about living in loving-kindness” – but she ultimately paid the price for it.

“I didn’t do a studio picture for 10 years. I was fired from a $10 million [approx. $13 million] picture deal and did not see the light of day in a studio picture,” Heche said.

In that same interview with Page SixHeche revealed Harrison Ford is her personal hero because he stood up for her against Hollywood executives who seemingly did not want her for her role in Six Days, Seven Nights (1998) anymore after her red carpet appearance with DeGeneres.

DeGeneres notably went on to marry Australian actress Portia de Rossi, and Heche married cameraman Coleman Laffoon in 2001. The couple divorced in 2009, and share a son. Heche reportedly left Laffoon for her Men in Trees co-star James Tupper, with whom she shares another son. The couple were together from 2007 to 2018.

Allegations of sexual abuse against Don Heche

Heche has maintained that from when she was a toddler to when she was 12, she was raped and molested by her father, Don Heche, who was a Baptist minister and church organist. Don Heche died in 1983.

speaking to abcnews in 2001, Heche claimed her father “raped me, he stuck his d–k in my mouth, he fondled me, he put me on all fours, and had sex with me.”

“I think it’s always hard for children to talk about abuse because it is only memory. I didn’t carry around a tape recorder … I didn’t chisel anything in stone … Anybody can look and say, ‘Well how do you know for sure?’ And that’s one of the most painful things about it. You don’t,” she told the publication.

Heche’s father gave her genital herpes and, after he passed away from HIV/AIDS, Heche was afraid she had contracted that from him too.

Heche’s mother, Nancy Heche, is often estranged from her daughter. Nancy has been vocal about how she believes homosexuality is a sin and, following her husband’s death (he died from HIV/AIDS complications but Nancy says he died from “homosexuality”), became a Christian therapist and motivational speaker who lectured across the United States about “overcoming sexuality” – but that’s not the reason for their estrangement.

In her 2001 book call me crazy, Heche claimed that when she did get genital herpes as an infant, Nancy insisted it was nappy rash and refused to take her to the doctor. Heche also claimed their estrangement from her is a result of a confrontation surrounding her claims of sexual abuse suffered at the hands of her father from her.

Nancy was outraged by Heche’s allegations in her memoir, responding at the time, “I am trying to find a place for myself in this writing, a place where I as Anne’s mother do not feel violated or scandalized. I find no place among the lies.” and blasphemies in the pages of this book.”

I made told New York Times in 2009 of Nancy: “My mother’s had a very tragic life. Three of her five children are dead, and her husband is dead. That she is attempting to change gay people into straight people is, in my opinion, a way to keep the pain of the truth out. People wonder why I am so forthcoming with the truths that have happened in my life, and it’s because the lies that I have been surrounded with and the denial that I was raised in, for better or worse, bore a child of truth and love. My mother preaches to this day the opposite of that core of my life. It is no mistake that she still stands up against love. And one wonders why I’m not rushing to have her meet my children.”

Of Heche’s four siblings, three are deceased – her sister Susan, from whom she was estranged, died of brain cancer, sister Cynthia died as an infant of a heart defect, and brother Nathan died in a car crash before his high-school graduation, though Heche believes it was suicide, something Nancy disputes.

Heche’s one remaining sibling, Abigail, has said the actress’ claims about their father are untrue.

Per PeopleAbigail said after the release of call me crazy: “It is my opinion that my sister Anne truly believes, at this moment, what she has asserted about our father’s past behaviour; however, at the same time, I would like to point out that Anne, in the past, has expressed doubts herself about the accuracy of such memories.”

“Based on my experience and her own expressed doubts, I believe that her memories regarding our father are untrue. And I can state emphatically, regardless of Anne’s beliefs, that the assertion that our mother knew about such behavior is absolutely false,” Abigail said .

Where Anne Heche is now

Heche has starred in a number of projects over the years – her latest film role was as Tammy in 13 Minutesand on television, she was a contestant in Season 29 of Dancing with the Stars. She’s also been cast in a recurring role in the upcoming show the idol.

Most recently, Heche has been working with Heather Duffy on the podcast Better Together, where they “celebrate friendship, and we believe that we can create more joy in the world by sharing our stories, stumbles, and triumphs” with special guests to affirm the notion that humans are “better together.” It was on this podcast that Heche “joked” about drinking days before her crash.

Heche has been open about her challenges with her mental health, and in 2001 while promoting call me crazyshe opened up about how, when she was younger, she created the “Fourth Dimension,” a fantasy world to which she mentally retreated to feel safe amid the sexual abuse from her father.

“I drank. I smoked. I did drugs. I had sex with people. I did anything I could to get the shame out of my life,” Heche has previously said.

Heche has since said she has left the Fourth Dimension and her alter ego, Celestia – the daughter of God and half-sister to Jesus Christ who had contacts with extraterrestrial life forms – which she initially created to feel safe, behind.

Rumors have circulated of a feud between Victoria and the newlywed since Nicola and Brooklyn’s wedding on April 9 this year, with Page Six reporting that the pair are not on speaking terms.

Peltz recently hinted at the impact the feud was having on her mental health, posting some posed snaps of her with tear-stained cheeks and bloodshot eyes.

“Sometimes I find it hard to show the sad bits of me. Growing up with seven siblings and two very strong parents made me really tough, they hammered it into me to not let people bring me down or hurt my heart,” she wrote in the caption.

“We all have days where people make you feel bad and it’s okay to be hurt by it. I love you all so much and truly appreciate all of your support.”

The feud between Beckham and Peltz reportedly stems from how Nicola’s family treated the Beckhams before and during the wedding. (Getty)

A source recently revealed to Page Six that in the months before Nicola and Brooklyn’s Miami wedding, the actress and her wealthy family did not want Victoria “to be any part of the planning.”

The source claimed that Nicola wouldn’t clue the former Spice Girl in on anything and “communication was minimal.”

Apparently, ever since the extravagant affair – which was held at the luxurious Peltz family estate – it’s been “non-stop petty drama” and the tension is coming between Beckhams and their son.

There is also speculation of discontent between the Beckhams and Peltz family, with some claiming the feud between Victoria and Nicola stems from the treatment the Beckhams received from the Peltz family before and during the wedding.

I was driving home from a drawn-out breakup with someone else, thinking about him | life and style

We were sitting on the sun-drenched stairs at university when I flopped news of an upcoming date into our conversation. I was chatting with an old friend and a friend we’d just made, and the comment was directed towards the new guy. We were getting along too well and I wanted him to know about my existing situationship.

My relationship wasn’t exclusive but I’ve always struggled with the concept of seeing two people casually at once. I didn’t like the idea of living my own version of The Bachelorette; with far fewer helicopters and untouched cheeseboards.

I regretted my choice to shut down the flirting as soon as I’d made it. I was already looking at him, thinking: “I’ll end up with this bloke one day.” It didn’t make sense to my cynical self; I hardly knew him. Even thinking he might be interested seemed wildly arrogant. I quietly chastized myself. This kind of thinking was for four beers too deep into a Saturday night. But dead sober in the summer sun I was gravitating towards someone I hardly knew.

As the turbulence of 2020 ravaged everyone, the new guy became a steadfast friend. I meandered in and out of my situationship, on and off the apps. “Love is a lie,” I would half-jokingly declare as my friends and I traded war stories of deflated dating lives. All the while I was childishly excited to talk to the new guy whenever the opportunity arose.

A year after we’d met, I was driving home from act one of a drawn-out break-up, thinking about him. He’d become my barometer for a decent block. “Yeah, they’re great,” the old friend and I would say to each other about some new entry on the scene, “but they’re not him.

Once the curtains had finally closed on the breakup, I messaged him. I “just happened” to slip my revised relationship status into our conversation.

weekend app

We were soon on our first date, and in many ways, it felt like our last (no, a terrible plot twist isn’t coming). There was an immediate sense of comfort with him; no pressure to present a shiny, sparkly exterior as there had been with others before. We became a couple with ease, to the point where we never actually had the “what are we?” conversation. (So, if you’re reading this, could you get back to me with an answer by close of business?)

For the sake of fairness, I asked when his “moment” came.

“You know, Im,” he said. “I think it started on the stairs.”

The Block 2022: Ankur and Sharon fear they’ll miss out on their dream Block house after misunderstanding Scott Cam’s design advice

It was the first day on The Blockand host Scott Cam wasted no time advising teams on what not to do.

And what Ankur and Sharon thought was a friendly visit from the host actually had a pointed purpose.

“He got straight to business and basically said my main feature idea for my guest bedroom sucked,” Sharon revealed.

Stream every episode ever of The Block for free on 9Now.

The couple planned to build a rustic wooden wall that would sit behind their bed, and Scotty voiced his concerns about how “rustic” it might look.

“You think the wood shouldn’t be rustic?” Sharon asked.

EPISODE 1 RECAP: Five new teams arrive in the country and realize their tree change will be tougher than they thought

“Well I don’t think it should be really rustic. Timber, beautiful. I don’t know about the rough rustic [look],” Scotty clarified.

Sharon was taking notes… or so we thought. Rather than taking on board Scotty’s advice and changing the rustic wood to have a finished timber look, Sharon instead kept the rustic look and changed the feature wall to be half as high.

After sourcing the most rustic wood ever from a stable and completing their wall, Scotty paid the team another visit.

Sharon proudly displayed the feature wall. “I listened to you,” she told Scotty.

“Oh nooo…” Sharon said, before trying to convince Scotty that it was still “beautiful”.

Scotty was not convinced, and in another blow he told the team their timber beams on the roof weren’t good enough, as they were 30mm short from reaching either wall.

“Bullet Train” Snags $30M Opening Weekend

Bullet Train Snags 30m Opening Weekend
sony pictures

The Brad Pitt-led “Bullet Train” pulled into cinemas with a $30.1 million domestic opening weekend – topping the charts but seen as a rather soft start for the $90 million-budgeted project.

Part of the problem is reviews for the film were very mediocre, with the movie sitting at a 54% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. As it has little competition, it’s hoped the film will have legs for a few weeks.

Universal and Amblin’s Filipino American family-themed comedy feature “Easter Sunday” opened in just eighth place with $5.3 million. As it only cost $17 million to produce, it should come out fine.

“DC League of Super-Pets” fell to second with $11.2 million, “Nope” was third ($8.5 million), “Thor: Love and Thunder” fourth with $7.6 million and “Minions: Rise of Gru” fifth with $7.1 million.

“Top Gun: Maverick,” which added another $7 million to its total, has now supplanted “Titanic” as the seventh-biggest film ever at the domestic box office with $662 million in ticket sales.

MacFarlane On “The Orville” S4 Chances

“The Orville” star and creator Seth MacFarlane says that the possibility of a fourth season renewal of the show will likely depend on the streaming numbers that come from the launch of the first three seasons on Disney+ this coming week.

The series famously started out on FOX as a poorly received comedic spin on “Star Trek: The Next Generation.” Partway through its first season though, it found its jogging as a more old-school Trek-esque show of episodic morality tales – albeit with a bit of extra humor and up-to-date visual effects.

Reviews and fan appreciation rose, and recently the series wrapped its third season (subtitled ‘New Horizons’) on its new home at Hulu. With Disney+ having recently expanded to include more adult-oriented content, “The Orville” will now stream on Disney+ in its entirety starting August 10th.

Speaking with Screen Rant recently about the show’s future, MacFarlane says the show’s chances of being renewed are about 50-50 right now. He adds that he has nothing but praise for all the support he’s received at Hulu for the show’s recent third season release and the hope is the Disney+ release will allow the series one last push to a whole new audience only partly aware of the series:

“I have sensed a real groundswell of support from within the Hulu branch and the Disney branch. Of course, it’s a business, so the show has to be something that justifies its own existence and, at the end of the day, that’s really going to be what determines a season 4.

But the folks at Hulu and Disney have sure as hell given us the best possible chance of that happening, so it’s really all up to the audience now. I am excited for the Disney+ launch, because that’s an entirely new audience that I think is maybe dimly aware of the show but maybe doesn’t really know exactly what it is.

I think that’s been the conundrum of The Orville for a while is that people kind of put it in a box based on the initial perceptions of the show since 2017 and 99% of the time when people sit down to watch it, their expectations are completely upended, and the show speaks for itself in that way, I’m confident that it can do that. The real challenge is just going to be getting eyeballs on it so that people have the chance to discover that for themselves.”

One complication is the cast’s commitments to other projects, including MacFarlane himself in the title role in Peacock’s upcoming “Ted” prequel series. Even if a renewal order is handed out, there could again be a long gap between seasons.

speaking with comicbook.comKesha said making the eerie show “changed [her] entire life.”

“Making this show genuinely changed my entire life, because I’ve had these paranormal experiences and I think intuitively I knew they were real, but also questioned if other people had these experiences,” she said.

“All I know is that I absolutely am open to the possibility of it all. I think it’s shortsighted to say anything for sure doesn’t exist.”
