Indigenous leaders have slammed reality shows for using the Acknowledgment of Country, labeling the gesture ‘condescending’ to Aboriginal people.

Wurundjeri elder Ian Hunter told The Daily Telegraph on Monday that the use of the acknowledgment on The Masked Singer and The Block was ‘totally unnecessary’.

‘It should only be used where appropriate such as a citizenship ceremony,’ Mr Hunter told the publication.

‘When too many people use it very lightly it devalues our ceremonial programs – it’s condescending,’ he added.

Mr Hunter’s comments come after Osher Günsberg introduced Sunday night’s premiere of The Masked Singer with an acknowledgment.

‘We welcome you tonight from Gadigal land, a place of beauty and abundance, where the sandstone meets the sea,’ Günsberg said.

‘We pay our respects to the traditional custodians of this country, and elders past, present and emerging, and extend our respects to any First Nations, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island people joining us tonight.’

Osher’s address was nothing new for Channel 10, who have made the decision to do an Acknowledgment of Country at the start of every series filmed in Australia for the past three years.

Channel Nine’s The Block also aired an Acknowledgment of Country prior to Sunday’s premiere.

Similarly Channel Nine’s The Block showed an Acknowledgment of Country before the new season premiere on Sunday night.

‘The Block and the City of Melbourne respectfully acknowledges the Wurundjeri Woi, Wurrung and Bunurong Boon Wurrung peoples as the traditional custodians of the land on which this production has taken place, and pay our respects to elders past, present and emerging. Always was, always will be, Kulin Nation land,’ it read.

The Block’s cast and crew are understood to have also undergone Indigenous cultural training in a bid to respect the land where the show’s latest renovations take place.

While many TV shows including Normal People and Bridgerton brought in an intimacy coach for the sex scenes, the trio instead chose to choregraph their own sex scenes after first becoming comfortable with each other.

In an interview with Bustle, the Irish actor, 29, said of the intimacy scenes with Emma, 63: ‘We felt like it was something we could do together, so we did. ‘It feels that little bit more special because it’s our own unique thing.

Jackie ‘O’ Henderson has taken a dig at Nigella Lawson just days after the British cook failed to appear on her radio show.

Nigella, 62, reportedly refused to appear on the Kyle And Jackie O show on Friday, leaving her fellow My Kitchen Rules judge Manu Fieldel to face the radio duo alone.

Discussing Nigella’s no-show during Monday’s broadcast, Jackie told her co-host Kyle Sandilands: ‘I think she can be quite precious is what I’ve heard.’

Jackie, 47, went on to speculate that Nigella may dislike their radio show due to an incident that occurred while they were working for Southern Cross Austereo back in the early 2010s.

‘I remember when we had an interview with her at 2Day FM… we were really excited about her coming in,’ she said.

Jackie claimed producers asked Nigella to participate in a ‘cake challenge’ where she would have to guess which cake was bought from Woolworths and which was bought from a patisserie.

During the show, French chef Manu, 48, awkwardly said goodbye to Kyle after being grilled about his new co-host Nigella Lawson and why she didn’t want to do the interview with him.

After Jackie mentioned how uncomfortable the interview was, Kyle blasted the culinary star, saying: ‘Who gives as**t what he’s sick and tired of talking about!’

Kyle then ranted about Manu promising that ‘no topic was off limits’ on their KIIS FM show.

‘I’m not here to facilitate other people’s s**t. I like Manu, he can come on and I like the show [MKR]but I’m very shocked about the Nigella [Lawson] thing.’

The 31-year-old announced the news on Monday night, sharing a statement to his Instagram account.

‘I’m getting bombarded so much at the moment, considering all the articles outright know about the status of Carolina and I,’ he began.

Jesinta Franklin has recalled her battle with postnatal depletion following the birth of her two children in the space of one year.

The 30-year-old model welcomed her daughter Tullulah in 2020 and son Rocky, one, in 2021 with her husband Lance ‘Buddy’ Franklin.

Jesinta told Women’s Health: ‘It felt like there were so many things that compounded in those two years that weren’t just me having two children.’

‘It was lockdowns and not being able to see my family, not being able to have the support, living in AFL hubs, having a husband that was on the road constantly and having to live under all these strict guidelines in order for him to continue to play football.’

The mother-of-two went on to say she felt ‘mentally and emotionally depleted more than anything else’.

In December, Jesinta revealed that welcoming two children in the last two years has ‘tested’ her marriage to Buddy.

She confessed to Stellar that both she and Buddy have struggled to spend quality time together due to their duties as parents.

What is Postnatal Depletion?

According to Bellybelly.com, postnatal depletion is a condition that involves both physical and emotional fatigue.

It often involves:

– Intense fatigue and exhaustion – and falling asleep without meaning to

– Lethargy

-Hyper vigilance

– Difficulty concentrating

-Anxiety

-Poor memory

– Loss of libido

– Worsening of pre-existing medical conditions

– Poor immune function

‘A lot of people don’t talk about how hard it is on your marriage having children,’ she said.

‘We really haven’t had much time just us two without the kids, but we’re a very tight-knit family.’

She continued: ‘It’s definitely not perfect, but we try to focus on being a team and facing the challenges together,’ she said of herself and Buddy.’

Jesinta also praised her husband for being a proactive and doting father to their children.

‘Bud is so hands-on and supportive, and I really missed that when he was gone. I’m really lucky to have a partner who is such an amazing father,’ she said, referring when he was away for the footy season.

Meanwhile, the couple are reportedly planning to sell their luxury home in Sydney’s eastern suburbs and relocating to the Gold Coast.

The rumors come amid reports Buddy is looking to either leave the Sydney Swans for a new club or retire from footy altogether, after he was asked to take a 50 per cent pay cut in 2023.

Jesinta, who hails from the Gold Coast, has also recently expressed her desire for the couple to live closer to family.

Rumors of the pair’s move to the sunshine state were published in The Daily Telegraph last week.

The publication contacted real estate Paul Biller from Biller Property agency, who listed the couple’s previous home in the affluent suburb of Rose Bay in 2020.

He sold their semi-detached property in an off-market deal for $3.8million and denied reports that the couple’s home was publicly listed.

The X Factor finalist, 34, took to Instagram to reveal he’s still undergoing treatment, sharing a series of photos of himself in hospital.

The festival returned for the first time after a two year break due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The first Brighton Pride was held in 1973 but it did not return to the city again until 1991.

The event usually attracts crowds of about 250,000 people.

Married At First Sight groom Jack Millar’s relationship with new girlfriend Courtney Stubbs is going from strength-to-strength.

The couple looked loved-up while walking through the backstreets of Surry Hills, Sydney, on their way to the vet on Friday.

Arm-in-arm, the pair were all smiles as Jack’s little dog scurried alongside them.

Renée Zellweger defended natural aging in a new interview with The Sunday Times this week.

The 53-year-old two-time Academy Award–winner shared that she had had a revelation after turning 50 a few years ago.

In her interview, she criticized ‘anti-aging’ cosmetic products for messages to consumers ‘telling us we don’t need to look our real age.’

Zellweger may have shocked some readers when she admitted that she couldn’t wait to turn 50, which she saw as an improvement over her 20s.

‘Turning 50 felt like a whole new beginning without the nonsense, the point where you can stop listening to all those voices in your head and all those expectations and projections people have of you and become more authentically yourself,’ she admitted.

‘Like, good luck all you suckers out there because you’ve got to survive a lot to get to my age, and I’ve earned my power and voice.’

But the conversation turned to the actress’ appearance, particularly circa the mid-2010s, when she was rumored to have had cosmetic surgery that changed the appearance of her famously squinty eyes.

In a Huffington Post op-ed from 2016, she appeared to deny having had surgery to change the appearance of her eyes, though the wording was vague enough to leave some wiggle room.

But now Zellweger is fed up with cosmetic products that are advertised in a manner to convince people that they need to look younger than their true age.

‘All those ads telling us we don’t need to look our real age if we just buy all their creams and their fixes and all that garbage they want to sell us?’ she mused to The Sunday Times. ‘I’m like, what, you’re saying I’m not valuable any more because I’m 53? Is that what you’re saying? There is a big difference between being your absolute best, most vibrant self and wanting to be what you’re not.

‘To be vibrant and beautiful you must embrace your age, otherwise you are living apologetically and to me that’s not beautiful at all,’ she added.

Whether or not The Jerry Maguire star made changes to her appearance years ago, she has returned to her more recognizable look since then and had renewed critical and commercial success after winning her second Academy Award for her Judy Garland biopic Judy.

Elsewhere in her interview, Zellweger opened up about a six-year stint starting in 2010 when she stepped away from Hollywood.

‘I guess I reached a point where I had to play a different game,’ she explained. ‘I don’t know if it was because it was a heightened experience for me being a woman of that age or because back then cinema was so culturally important, the center, in a way, of everyone’s consciousness. But it felt pretty chaotic.’

The actress, who has lately been dating British TV presenter Ant Anstead, mentioned that she tries to steer clear of the public’s interest in their relationship.
