The fighting game Guilty Gear Strive will continue to receive additional content at least in the coming calendar year. Arc System Works communicated the current schedule for the updates.
The fighting game Guilty Gear: Strive from Arc System Works was released in June 2021 for the PlayStation 5 and the PlayStation 4. At that time, the developers had already confirmed that due to the restrictions that the Covid 19 pandemic hit the studio, some features that were originally planned for the launch had to be canceled and redeveloped over time.
Characters, crossplay and more.
Since then, the developers have already delivered features such as a diorama mode and a 5+ additional characters. The roadmap for upcoming updates to Guilty Gear: Strive was released in the context of the EVO 2022 event: Experimented, Present, and Future of the Guilty Gear series. I hope the following information will be helpful.

EVO, the year’s biggest fighting games event, went down over the weekend, and in terms of news perhaps the biggest announcement was that not one but two games will be getting Rollback Netcode improvements over the next 12 months. Don’t know what that means, or why it’s important? I got you!
So in online multiplayer games, a large part of allowing everyone to play together is the way the game registers everyone’s actions at the same time. when a person in Canada is playing someone in Germany they’ll both be pressing buttons in their own homes, and the game needs to pick up those inputs, apply them to the game and have them play out in a way that makes the whole thing look as seamless as though they they were playing with (or against) each other in the same room.
Different games (and different genres) handle this differently, depending on how important speed and accuracy is to the player’s experience, but one type of input recognition that’s especially important to anyone playing a fighting game—where every frame and millisecond can mean the difference between victory and defeat—is called Rollback Netcode.
Rollback Netcode doesn’t rely on waiting for everyone’s input before registering actions; instead it lets both players press their buttons and see the action play out instantly without lag or delay, as though they were playing offline, and in the downtime between that and the opponent’s action arriving the game basically guesses what was going to happen next. If it guessed right the game continues with nobody noticing, and if it was wrong, it checks down to play out the action that the other player actually made, which sometimes involves a little “teleporting”.
The very helpful video below, by Coby Mystics, explains how Rollback Netcode works, and how in fighting games it’s speed and accuracy make it so superior to the more traditional Input Delay:
Code Mystics Explains Netcode: Input Delay vs. roll-back
OKAY! So now that we’re all up to speed on Rollback Netcode, you can understand why such a seemingly minor announcement is actually a huge deal for fighting game fans, and why these two announcements made at EVO went down so well with fans.
G/O Media may get a commission
First up, producer Tomoko Hiroki took to the stage to announce that the upcoming versions of dragon ball fighter z on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S will be getting Rollback Netcode, as will the PC version, though on the latter players will get the option whether to use Rollback Netcode (which will carry a slightly steeper system requirement) or stick with Input Delay.
It doesn’t look like the upgrade will be coming to the PS4, Xbox One or Switch versions of the game, though the last-gen PlayStation and Xbox versions will have upgrade paths made available for anyone who upgrades to newer systems.
As for when this is actually coming, it doesn’t sound like it will be soon, with the announcement saying “It will take some time until the system is implemented, but we sincerely hope you will enjoy it as soon as possible. More information will be released at a later date. Please wait for further details.”
The 2019 reboot of samurai showdown got the same announcement, with SNK teaming up with Code Mystics—creators of the vid above—to implement the upgrade. It’ll be coming to the PC, PS4, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S versions of the game (again leaving the Switch behind), and is “planned” for Spring 2023.
During the EVO 2022 festivities over the weekend publisher SNK released a short video announcing an all-new Fatal Fury game, which given the amount of time since the last one felt both like a huge surprise but also something of an inevitability.
Here’s the clip, which over 30 seconds manages to show…a single piece of art:
Here’s a bigger, less animated version of the piece:
Image: SNK
So, a new Fatal Fury/Garou game, which means this is either a successor or direct sequel (it’s hard to tell from a single piece of art!) to 1999’s Garou: Mark of the Wolveswhich was a big departure for the series at the time since it introduced a whole range of new characters and redesigned Terry Bogard, the only existing one to return.
Unbelievably, Garou was the last main Fatal Fury game released, which means it has been over 20 years since we last saw Terry and company in the limelight in their own series (Fatal Fury characters have, of course, been appearing in countless other games, from Super Smash Bros. to the dating game King of Fighters for Girls).
What this game might look like is anyone’s guess, since this announcement — based around a single image, and without any other accompanying information — is about as brief as you’re every going to get from a major publisher, and suggests this game is years away from release.
One piece of news found on the image itself, though, and helpfully zoomed in on during the trailer, was the signature of Aki Senno, aka Tonko, who has worked on-and-off with SNK for 25 years, having been an artist on the Last Blade, Rey de peleas, samurai showdown and metal-slug series.
She’s perhaps best known, though, for her work on the original Garou — released in 1999 in arcades but again in 2000 on Neo Geo and 2001 on the Dreamcast — so getting her back onboard for this game is a nice treat for long-time SNK fighting game fans.
LG has improved upon its Tone Free true wireless earbud range with a host of new design and sonic upgrades across the board.
The flagship T90s have a new internal structure featuring larger drivers, which provides a more satisfying low-end sound. The buds also use Meridian Headphone Spatial Processing to present a fuller sound stage with a clear central point giving a more 3D sound.
The use of graphene helps reduce vibration, while Dolby Head Tracking support keeps the music swirling around you, despite where you move.
The T90s boast 24-bit/96kHz high-resolution audio, Snapdragon Sound, and Active Noise Cancellation, plus a nine-hour battery rate, with another 20 hours in the case.
LG have also added two sets of Tone Free Fit earbuds, the TF7 and TF8, which are designed for exercise, with a rugged yet lightweight design that will be comfortable while running, biking, or training at the gym.
The SwivelGrip technology will keep the earbud secure even during the most rigorous sessions, while the ANC and Meridian’s Headphone Spatial Processing will keep the audio crisp and central.

The 2022 Tone Free range will be available towards the end of this month.
The following article was produced in partnership with IWC Schaffhausen.
To the uninitiated, you’d think that all the science was settled when it comes to mechanical watches. We’ve had watches for hundreds of years, what more is there that you can do? Contrary. The watch industry is one of the most innovative and future-forward industries on the planet, constantly pushing boundaries when it comes to art, engineering and materials.
Right at the forefront of innovation in the watch industry sits IWC Schaffhausen. The 154-year-old firm has been behind a number of watchmaking firsts but is a particular pioneer when it comes to material technology – specifically ceramics.
Now, in 2022, IWC is combining their expertise with ceramics in watchmaking with a rather unique approach to watch design that shows that they’ve not just got substance, but a whole lot of style, too.
“As a designer, the advantage of working with a brand like IWC which is so established in the watch industry is that you have, by definition, a certain recognizability… At the same time, we’ve got this design code that leaves a lot of room for interpretation… The watch works as a canvas for creativity.”
Christian Knoop, IWC Schaffhausen Creative Director
Ceramic is an ideal material for watch cases as it’s scratch-resistant, light and highly biocompatible. It can also be produced in a wide variety of different colours. The downside of ceramic is that it’s exceptionally hard to work with – especially when you introduce different colors into the mix. Colored ceramics are some of the most fiddly and hard-to-produce materials in watchmaking, which is why IWC is one of only a few watchmakers who can do so.
IWC’s latest watch collection, titled the ‘Colours of TOP GUN’, are perhaps their most striking ceramic watches yet. Bold, stark and rich in colour, they’re the perfect mix of art, science and engineering.
Why ‘TOP GUN’? Well, these watches are named in honor of the United States Navy’s Fighter Weapons School, better known as TOPGUN – makes sense that a watchmaker so intimately connected with the world of aviation would be inspired by such a high-flying outfit.
Similarly, the two Colors of TOP GUN watches are inspired by the extreme colors encountered by jet pilots during their missions, as well as the surroundings in which these high flyers hone their skills.
The first of the two Colors of TOP GUN watches is the Pilot’s Watch Chronograph TOP GUN Edition “Lake Tahoe” (ref. IW389105), which was inspired by white US Navy uniforms and the fascinating winter landscape around Lake Tahoe, which straddles California and Nevada and remains a popular training area for naval aviators.
High-contrast and extremely eye-catching, the Lake Tahoe combines a white ceramic case with a black dial and black hands. The case back is made of titanium, while the pushers and crown are made of stainless steel, lending the timepiece a design that is as pure as it is contrasting. It comes on a white rubber strap with a deployant clasp for ease of use.
The Lake Tahoe is at once both a proper statement piece as well as a surprisingly versatile daily wearer. Many other luxury watchmakers make white ceramic watches, but IWC’s Lake Tahoe is a cut above the rest.
Also in the collection is the Pilot’s Watch Chronograph TOP GUN Edition “Woodland” (ref. IW389106), which was inspired by the flight suits and uniforms worn by the elite pilots in the TOPGUN flight school and the vast forest landscapes these pilots fly over.
The Woodland combines a dark green ceramic case with a dark green dial, plus numerals and hour markers printed in a lighter hue of green. It also has a matching green textile/rubber strap, whilst other hardware elements such as the chrono pushers, crown and back case are made out of matte black Ceratanium, IWC’s signature scratch-resistant, ultra-tough titanium/ceramic composite.
It’s hard to overstate just how hard it is to make a green ceramic watch case, as well as how well executed this watch is. Green watches are having a real moment in 2022, but IWC’s Woodland is easily the best green watch on the market.
“We are very much linked to an engineering approach; to purity and timeless design. That’s part of our DNA. But on the other hand, we are still a luxury brand that is about craftsmanship and detail… It’s also really about the passion for detail, the extra mile, the extra functionality and the extra touch in the material that really makes our product.”
Christian Knoop
Both the Woodland and the Lake Tahoe aren’t just pretty pieces, either: they’re high-performance pilot’s chronographs designed for maximum legibility and toughness. Boasting an atypical tri-compax layout with a day-date window at 3 o’clock, they’re the perfect precision timekeepers as well as wearable pieces of art.
Christian Knoop, IWC Schaffhausen Creative Director
What’s really cool about these two watches is that IWC partnered with PANTONE, the world-famous color institute, to codify the unique hues of these watches’ cases as official PANTONE colours: IWC Lake Tahoe and IWC Woodland respectively.
This was a masterstroke on IWC’s part. IWC have always had the technical aspects of watchmaking down pat, but by partnering with PANTONE, IWC demonstrates how they also understand the design; the artistic aspect of watchmaking, too. It’s about conquering war zones and cocktail parties with a similar aplomb.
“For me, the ultimate test is always when we come up with a new release for people to not only say okay, it’s a nice watch, but that it’s a true IWC.”
Christian Knoop
In this sense, the two IWC Colors of TOP GUN watches are both true IWCs. They’re different, innovative, stylish, fun… They’ve got everything you need in a high-end timepiece, and more. That’s why they’re so exciting.

People can use this particular new-and-improved Google search operator with their desired search terms to enhance the accuracy of their results.
Recently, Google has become synonymous with looking up stuff online or searching the web. A recognized verb in modern-day dictionaries, “Googling” — thanks to a recent update — has become much more accurate, especially for power users who like to use search modifiers like quotation marks to improve results. In addition, people searching for specific phrases on Google will now be able to see exactly where the desired keywords are located on web pages instead of just being fed results without indicating precise placement.
Google has recently provided useful upgrades to its comprehensive line of products. Those who prefer Google Chrome as their web browser of choice will soon be able to use a password strength detector that’ll help them ensure their passwords are impenetrable. The newly rolled out Gmail interface design makes it easier for users to switch between Google apps without needing to open new tabs or windows.

With the newest improvement to what is arguably Google’s most popular service offering, users can utilize quotation marks — one of the search engine’s special operators — around any search word or phrase and only be shown pages that contain the exact words or phrases as typed. Additionally, for searches conducted on a desktop, the snippets that appear below every search result will feature the searched-for keywords in bold, making it easier for the user to click on a website from the results list and identify the phrase’s location within the page . Before the update, encasing Google search phrases in quotation marks merely yielded website results that have the desired keywords somewhere in their various pages, including specific areas a typical user may not know how to navigate (such as in a website’s metadata) or may not be useful for their research purposes (like a web page’s navigation bar, as a menu item). Google users would have to manually scan the resulting website for the search phrase in question, a task that can be tedious when the particular web page has dense text content.
Conducting Quote-Based Google Searches: Best Uses & Limitations
Using quotation marks to perform Google searches that yield the best results can be beneficial when super-specific content is required. For example, people who search for recipes online using natural language may be overwhelmed by the sheer number of results an ordinary Google search returns. However, typing out a particular search like “best cookie recipe” may yield web page results wherein users have written the exact phrase on the recipe’s comment page. This simple tweak drastically prunes down potential search results, showcases the most relevant options, and will make selecting one to try out a less daunting task.
Of course, there are caveats to performing quote-based searches. Although using quotation marks does improve Google’s overall functionality, results may still include pages that only have the quoted keywords within a page’s meta description tag, which is neither visible on the page itself nor particularly useful for ordinary search tasks. Google’s system may also recognize some punctuation marks as spaces, which can affect quoted searches and include unwanted results (ie, words separated by a comma and a slash may appear within the same search but may not mean the same thing). Furthermore, if a user searches multiple quoted key phrases, the snippets below the page in the results list may not show all the required keywords if they are too far apart. The snippet will only showcase the most relevant mention of a phrase that appears multiple times on a page.
This Google search hack is something experienced Google users may want to employ whenever they need to perform precise searches. However, this doesn’t diminish the reliability of Googling words sans quotation marks. In addition, Google’s default is to provide search results that contain both exact phrases and related content, which could be useful for additional insight. There’s also the standard ‘Find’ command that comes with any web browser. For Google Chrome on a desktop, it’s Ctrl + f for Windows, Linux, and Chrome OS, or ⌘ + f for Mac — that Google users can fall back on to quickly highlight specific phrases within a web page.

LG isn’t the only major OLED maker in Australia, as Samsung finally joins with its own OLED options locally, popping up in a 55 and 65 inch model.
One of the world’s largest makers of AMOLED panels is finally doing it, jumping into the world of OLED TVs in Australia, as Samsung takes the OLED fight to LG.
It was something not officially announced for Australia back at CES 2022. While Samsung talked up a bunch of TVs on their way to Australia, an OLED option was announced, but its OLED-tech “QD-OLED” wasn’t officially talked about much to Australians, because at the time, Samsung appeared to have not confirmed the tech for local buyers.
Fast forward eight months and here we are, as Samsung announced its first OLED TVs are on their way to store shelves, launching in a $4K 55 inch and $5K 65 inch. The new models form the Samsung S95B, both of which rely on quantum dot OLED, also known as QD-OLED, which uses self-emitting organic LEDs like another OLED TVs, but appears to feature Samsung’s quantum dot technology over each pixel to hone color and retain brightness.
Technically, these aren’t Samsung’s first OLED TVs, and they’re clearly not the first Samsung OLED panels. You can find Samsung Active Matrix OLED panels — AMOLED — in a number of devices, including its phones and even quite a bunch of iPhone models, while Samsung’s first OLED TV popped up in 2013 before it was retired and the company focused on LED-backlit TVs.
But with years of research, it appears Samsung is ready to make a move with OLED, and has the tech to do it, with the 4K UHD 55 inch and 65 inch S95B heading to stores shelves shortly.
“This new TV range from Samsung goes beyond the typical panel technology to provide remarkable entertainment experiences due to true RGB sub-pixels and HDR10+ technology,” said Jeremy Senior, Vice President for Consumer Electronics at Samsung Australia.
“Samsung OLED TVs offer the amazing picture quality, incredible colour, and dazzling brightness that Samsung TVs are renowned for,” he said.
Much like LG’s OLED TVs, don’t expect Samsung’s OLED TVs to be inexpensive, with the technology commanding higher prices than their QLED kin. The top of the range Samsung QN95B QLED TV retails for $3099 in 55 inches and $4099 for 65 inches this year, while the Samsung S95B OLED TV will cost $4079 for a 55 inch model or $5249 for a 65 inch equivalent. That’s the limit on size, too, with Samsung’s OLED TVs maxing out at 65 inches, compared with the much larger OLED options you can find from LG.
But it is a start, and may mean come CES 2023, you can expect to find a few more options with larger OLEDs in the new year.
A Ford Escort RS Turbo is a rare find these days, especially one in original condition. The car, originally designed to compete in Group N and Group A rally events, quickly became a cult hit amongst motoring enthusiasts due to its balance of performance and affordability. Ford only had to produce 5,000 units to meet Group A homologation requirements, but the demand was so high that they made 8,604 blue-oval beasts.
While many of these 8,604 units went to your average joe, a handful of high-profile figures couldn’t resist the rally-inspired package. From athletes to entertainers, celebrity Ford Escort RS Turbo owners are well documented — and perhaps the highest profile owner of them all was none other than the late Diana, Princess of Wales.
RELATED: Michael Schumacher’s 1998 Ferrari F300 Is Heading To Auction
Unlike the rest of the royal family, Diana insisted on driving her own cars (with a detective in the passenger seat). After the royal command deemed her 1.6i red Escort cabriolet to be “unsuitable,” the RS Turbo was the likely progression of it. At the time, you could only purchase the car in all-white, but the royal flex meant that Ford UK produced a stealthy, incognito, all-black version of the pocket rocket.
The car was initially sold (or returned) back to Ford in 1988 with 6,800 miles on the odometer; then, it was used as a promotional giveaway by a radio station in 1993, where it was won and driven by its new owner up to the 12,000-mile mark. In 2008, a Ford RS collector managed to get his hands on the rare piece driving it to the well-maintained 24,961 miles it sits today.
Silverstone Auctions are now offering up the 1985 Ford Escort RS Turbo formerly owned by Princess Diana for the first time since Kiss FM’s giveaway on Saturday, August 27th at 10:30 AM (BST).

A brand new Tekken game was just announced at EVO, although it’s not immediately clear if its Tekken 8 or something totally new.
A very brief teaser was shown with Kazuya in his PS1 form appearing before morphing into a hyper realistic Kazuya which was a complete contrast to the graphics that we knew in the earlier Tekken games. The teaser simply ended with the phrase “get ready”.
Fans have speculated that this could either be some kind of remake of the original, but it obviously could have just been a clever way to show how far the game has come. Geoff Keighley also retweeted the announcement from The Game Awards account prompting many to expect that an announcement at TGA would be likely, but he has quickly said that he doesn’t know anything more apart from what’s already been revealed.
Tekken 7 released in 2015, so it’s been eight years since the last game came out. Tekken 8 was also featured on the big list of NVIDIA’s leaked games, so we’ve been expecting this one for a long while. It’s unclear why it has taken so long for Tekken 8 to release after a fairly solid stream of Tekken games throughout the generations.
Obviously, we’ll let you know once we have more information about the game.
Alexa, are you ready for Apple to be back in the smart speaker game? Word on the street is that the notoriously tight-lipped tech giant is planning to release an updated version of its Amazon Echo and Google Home rival, the HomePod.
Apple released the HomePod in 2018 and HomePod Mini in 2020, but discontinued the full-sized in 2021 to only focus on the smaller, more affordable version.
Over the weekend, tech insider Mark Gurman wrote in his Power On newsletter for US publication Bloomberg that he believes Apple will soon bring out an upgrade to the HomePod. Gurman believes the updated version will feature an updated S8 processor and possibly a new multi-touch display on top, and will be released in early 2023. He added that the updates weren’t likely to be “super-impressive”.

Gurman has previously mentioned an update to the HomePod. As has Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Back in May, Kuo tweeted that Apple would be releasing a new HomePod in late 2022 or the start of 2023 — though, he wasn’t sure of its size.
Apple would release a new version of HomePod in 4Q22-1Q23, and there may not be much innovation in hardware design. Smart speakers are undoubtedly one of the essential elements of the home ecosystem, but I think Apple is still figuring out how to succeed in this market.
Also in Gurman’s newsletter, he said Apple is also working on an updated HomePod mini. Apple has “at least four new smart home devices in its labs, but not all will see the light of the day”, he added.
He named two home devices, in particular — a kitchen device that combines an iPad and a speaker and living room device combining an Apple TV, camera and HomePod — that might launch at the end of next year or in early 2024.
In other Apple news, the latest software update iOS 16 is now available for Beta testing, and the final version should be released in the coming weeks.
“We have re-imagined how the Lock Screen looks and works with exciting new features that make it more personal and helpful, introduced iCloud Shared Photo Library for families, streamlined communication through new capabilities in Messages and Mail, and harnessed enhanced intelligence with updates to Live Text and Visual Look Up,” Apple’s senior vice president of software engineering, Craig Federighi said at a conference at Apple’s campus in Cupertino, California on June 7.
The new software will let you mark read texts as unread, unsend and edit messages, better customize your lock screen and use live text in video.
