Samsung Z Flip 4 launch: popular hi-tech flip phone gets upgrade | Samsung

Samsung has unveiled updated versions of its cutting-edge folding-screen devices, including its popular reinvention of the flip phone, the Galaxy Z Flip, adding better cameras, bigger screens and slimmer bodies.

The Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 were announced on Wednesday during a live-streamed event alongside revamped versions of Samsung’s top Buds Pro earbuds and the Galaxy Watch 5, all containing recycled materials such as ocean-bound plastic.

The Z Flip 4 is the star of the show, building on the success of last year’s model with a more compact body that is smaller in almost every direction with a slimmer hinge and smaller bezels around the 6.7in folding OLED screen.

It also has the fastest Android chip from Qualcomm, a larger battery and an improved pair of 12-megapixel cameras producing brighter and sharper photos, addressing one of the criticisms of its predecessor. It can also be customized with 75 different color combinations for its frame and glass with matching interface themes.

“In a homogenous market of black touchscreen rectangles, it makes sense for Samsung to have products for users that want something that stands out from the crowd,” said James Manning Smith, senior analyst at CCS Insight. “The Z Flip range has been particularly successful in that context, and we expect the Z Flip4 will help further boost Samsung’s growth aspirations in foldables.”

Samsung’s folding tablet, the Z Fold 4, has also been refined with a slimmer hinge, thinner bezels and an 8g weight reduction compared to its ground-breaking predecessor.

When closed the phone is shorter and the screen on the outside is wider to aid in using it like a regular smartphone. The Android 12L software has been developed with Google to better use the folding form and large 7.6in internal screen, featuring a more desktop-like experience and a greater number of third-party apps such as Facebook optimized for its tablet size.

Upgraded cameras on the back bring it up to pair with the Galaxy S22 series released earlier this year, including a brighter 50MP main camera and a 3x optical zoom camera.

“The Z Fold is a more challenging form-factor and arguably is a much more experimental device compared to the Z Flip,” said Manning Smith. “Samsung will be hoping the improvements to its foldable smartphone line up make the phones a more reliable rather risky purchases in the eyes of consumers and it should be applauded for its tireless work in developing the category.”

Galaxy Watch 5

Samsung’s smartwatch based on Google’s Wear OS has also been upgraded with the Galaxy Watch 5 and bigger Watch 5 Pro. Both new watches have longer battery life, more scratch-resistant screens and durable bodies, now available in 40mm, 44mm and 45mm cases to better fit a range of wrists.

They track a greater number of health metrics, offering guidance and coaching plans building on the reboot of Samsung’s smartwatch efforts since last year.

Galaxy Buds 2 Pro

Samsung’s top Buds 2 Pro earbuds are 15% smaller than their already compact predecessors, with a new pressure vent and improved shape for better comfort.

The upgraded earbuds support 24bit high-resolution audio and noise cancelling, which now removes an extra 3dB of unwanted sound. They feature Dolby head tracking for immersive movie audio, too.

There is, however, an important distinction between a standard gyroscope and a revolving magnet described here: the revolution axis is magnetic. This outcome contains interesting physics. Interestingly, it depends neither on (theta_{{{text{eq}}}}) nor on the mass m. Generally, ({mathbf{v}}_{{text{R}}} ne {mathbf{v}}) (Fig. 2f) and can be found numerically by deriving Mek from Eq. (2), inserting the result into Eq. (1), and solving Eqs. (1)–(4).

Figure 3b shows ({{varvec{Omega}}}_{{text{R}}}) of a NdFeB sphere in three cases: Yo corresponding to the set-up of Fig. 3a with linear velocity ({mathbf{v}} = 5) m/s; II corresponding to the rolling down an incline with (beta = pi /10) and ({mathbf{B}} = ( – 0.95, – 0.22,0.22)10^{ – 5}) T; and III corresponding to the rolling down an incline with (beta = pi /10) and ({mathbf{B}} = (0,1,0)10^{ – 5}) T. As one can see from this data ({{varvec{Omega}}}_{{text{R}}}) can be varied in a broad range by changing the applied force or inclination.

Spin revolution effect in a system of two hard magnets

Now we switch to the SR in time-dependent fields. Let us consider two magnetic spheres, each put into a vertical non-magnetic tube. The tubes are placed close to one another and the spheres arrange themselves on internal sides of the tubes due to the magnetic attraction ({mathbf{F}}_{{text{m}}}^{12}) and ({mathbf{F}}_{{text{m}}}^{21})10 as shown in Fig. 3c,d. If the tubes are rotated about their vertical axes due to ({mathbf{F}}_{{{text{appl}}}}), the spheres rotate initially together with the tubes. At a critical angle (beta)the sum of gravitational and magnetic forces overcomes the frictional force Fs and the spheres move upwards against intuitive expectation that they return to their initial or to somewhat lower positions in response to ({mathbf{F}}_{{text{m}}} + m{mathbf{g}}). The reason for this counterintuitive behavior is the SR emerging at a critical angle (beta)when the net torque ({mathbf{T}}_{{text{cm}}}) vanishes. According to Eq. (4) the Mek (and spheres) should move upwards for any ({mathbf{F}}_{{{text{appl}}}}). Our experiments support the expectation of emerging revolution as well as that of a lifting force defying gravity which tries to push the spheres downwards, and the magnetic interaction attracting the spheres in horizontal direction (see Fig. 3c and Movie S58).

In time-reversal invariant systems, the equations of motion are invariant under the transformation (({mathbf{q}},{mathbf{p}},t) mapsto^{T} ({mathbf{q}}, -{mathbf{p}}, -t)) with what being the coordinates, p the momentum and you the time. In other words, the trajectory in reversed time should be a backward sequence of positions constituting the trajectory in forward time.16,17. To check this, one reverses the momentum p and looks for the corresponding trajectory. If one reverses the rotational momentum of the tubes, the spheres will not go downwards. They will repeatedly move upwards to any tube height (Fig. 4, Movie S58) breaking the time-reversal symmetry. Importantly, this symmetry breaking is neither local, like that of a Lorentz force, nor dissipation-driven. Indeed, the trajectory of a charge due to the Lorentz force becomes time-reversal invariant if the direction of magnetic field is reversed, because ({mathbf{B}} mapsto^{T} – {mathbf{B}}) (see8part D and Fig. S18). The only way to force the spheres moving downwards is to reverse the gravitational force. This operation is, however, forbidden as the forces are even under time-reversal (({mathbf{F}} mapsto^{T} {mathbf{F}})).

How to use the Chunk Loaders mod in Minecraft

Minecraft is a survival game at its core. This means that gaining access to large amounts of resources is vital for players in survival worlds. Thankfully, most of the resources in the game can be farmed. Some examples are automated wood farms or the ethically questionable cow crusher.

Unfortunately, these farms only function when the player is nearby, keeping chunks loaded in, which can be incredibly frustrating. However, the community has created the Chunk Loaders mod, which can keep chunks loaded and farms operating no matter where the player goes.

Note: This process assumes that the player has already downloaded and installed either Forge or Fabric, the prerequisite mod loaders needed to play with any mods at all.

1) Install the Chunk Loaders mod

The first thing players are going to need to do is install the chunk loader mod. Players should navigate to the Curse Forge website and search for the mod in the Minecraft mods section. Once they find it, players should install the jar file, placing it within the mods folder of their game’s installation directory.

2) Pick a chunk loader

The Chunk Loaders mod offers four kinds of chunk loaders to players. There is a single chunk loader that can load a single chunk, a basic chunk loader that can load a three by three chunk area, an advanced chunk loader that can load an area of ​​chunks that is five by five, and the ultimate chunk loader that will load a seven by seven area of ​​chunks.

Here’s how these chunks are crafted:

  • The single chunk loader is crafted by placing the basic chunk loader into the crafting grid, which will output nine single chunk loaders.
  • The basic chunk Loader is crafted with a single ender pearl, four obsidian, and four iron ingots.

Once the player has decided which chunk loader they want to use, they should decide what area they want to keep loaded at all times. This should either be an area that already has farms in it or a flat area that will be easy to build farms on.

Players should place their chunk loader near the chunks they want to keep loaded as the chunk loader interface only shows nearby chunks.

4) Set the chunk loader

Once the player has decided which chunk loader they will use and which chunks they will keep loaded, players should right-click the chunk loader.

This will open up a map interface that shows the nearby chunks. Players should right-click on the center chunk they want to remain loaded and then exit the interface. The selected chunks will now remain loaded no matter where the player travels.

Tower of Fantasy is set to launch globally on August 10th. Here is all the info you need on the pre-launch, and when you can play.

We can hear the alarm bells sounding off from here. I’m sure you are keen to start exploring the distant planet of Aida as soon as possible, so let’s get started. First things first, if you want to play Tower of Fantasy when it launches, you will have to preload Tower of Fantasy on PC, Android or iOS devices.

PC users, note that preload is only available through the standalone Windows client. Preload starts on the 9th of August 2022 for mobile devices. Once you have preloaded the game, all you need to do is wait for Tower of Fantasy’s official global launch time. For preloading, check the official website.

Tower of Fantasy has a lot of pre-registration giveaways to mark the launch. As long as you log in and create an account before February 6 of 2023, you can unlock the game rewards, by clearing the ‘Ecological Station Intruders’ story mission, and claim cosmetics, currency, and black and gold nuclei.

According to data, fewer than one per cent of Netflix’s subscribers are playing the games included with the TV and film streaming service.

Since last year, Netflix has offered a number of games with its streaming service – which will reportedly increase to 50 by the end of this year – that can be downloaded separately at no extra cost.

Data from CNBC and Apptopia indicates that of Netflix’s 221million subscribers, the games have been downloaded 23.3million times and average daily users of around 1.7million – or less than one per cent of the service’s subscribers.

With more streaming services creating competition for Netflix, this strategy of mobile games is undoubtedly being used to set itself apart from other services. That said, Netflix lost around 1million subscribers earlier this year, which was less than its projected loss of 2million.

Whilst Netflix is ​​adding the likes of Spiritfarer and a number of titles from Devolver Digital to its games service, there are also some original titles based on actual Netflix series’ on the way as well. A narrative RPG based on shadow and bone is coming, alongside The Queen’s Gambit Chessbased on the hit original series.

The core of Netflix’s video game strategy is still somewhat vague, via CNBC. Back in June the company’s head of external games, Leanne Loombe, said: “We’re still intentionally keeping things a little bit quiet because we’re still learning and experimenting and trying to figure out what things are going to actually resonate with our members , what games people want to play.”

In other news, YouTube: Game On is a new show coming to the platform later this month, which will let viewers interact with and make choices in games being played by creators.

The next generation of Pokémon is here! Pokémon Scarlet & Violet kick off the 9th generation of the Pokémon RPGs in style with a few significant changes, including a wholly open world and the chance to tackle the Gyms in whatever order you see fit! But before you dive into the vast Paldea region, budding Trainers first need to decide whether they’ll be Team Scarlet or Team Violet.

Like with most Pokémon games, the biggest difference will be the list of version-exclusive Pokémon, but Scarlet & Violet are also introducing a few other differences depending on what version you pick up.

If you pick up Pokémon Scarlet, your Pokémon Professor will be Sada. If Violet is more your thing, you’ll be greeted by Professor Turo.

World and story themes

In an exciting twist, fans have noticed a few key differences in the aesthetics of Pokémon Scarlet & Violet. Scarlet seems to embody the past, while Violet looks to the future.

You might have already noticed these things just looking at Sada and Turo, but Sada is wearing cavewoman-like attire, and Turo is wearing a skintight bodysuit under that lab coat. Also, their names are pretty important! sada comes from passthe Spanish word for past, while Turo comes from futurethe Spanish word for future.

Plus, those legendaries certainly have a few visual differences. Koraidon, Scarlet’s legendary, looks like a prehistoric bird-like dinosaur. Miraidon is a metallic lizard with pixelated eyes.

The Legendaries’ Forms

Box art legendaries are the standard in the Pokémon series, but Koraidon and Miraidon have many more differences than their colors and initial appearances. Each legendary has a different form to help with traveling across the many different terrains of the Paldea region — Koraidon’s are all ‘Builds’ while Miraidon’s are all ‘Modes’, again emphasizing that past vs future theme the games seem to be going for.

Many people noticed that Koraidon and Miraidon seemed to have wheels in their designs when they were first revealed, but we now officially know that both Pokémon can turn into bikes!

Our prehistoric dragon, Koraidon, turns into Sprinting Build Koraidon, a motorbike-looking ride that (for some reason) doesn’t use its wheels! Miraidon, however, transforms into ‘Drive Mode Miraidon’, and it looks like a very sleek jet bike and uses ‘energy’ to accelerate.

Toilet

Again, your water transportation will look entirely different depending on whether you have Scarlet (Koraidon) or Violet (Miraidon).

Koraidon’s ‘Swimming Build’ puffs up its front wheel (or throat) to use as a floatation device, and it uses its powerful legs to paddle across the water. Miraidon’s ‘Aquatic Mode’ looks like it could come out of a futuristic wave race game and uses its jet engines on its legs to move in the water.

Gliding

And, being dragons, these two can fly! Or glide, at least. And to match their past and future theming, each legendary has a specific form it takes when taking to the skies.

Our Scarlet mascot, Koraidon, unravels its tendrils to reveal some grand wings on its head, which it uses to soar through the air for its ‘Gliding Build’, making it look even more like a prehistoric bird. Miraidon, on the other hand, looks like a glider fit for James Bond, as ‘Glide Mode’ makes its antennae extend and spread out what The Pokémon Company calls “a membrane of energy”.

Your school

In Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, your character goes to a prestigious school in the Paldea region. Age isn’t an issue, and everyone there is attending to learn more about Pokémon. But there are some pretty key differences depending on whether you’re more partial to the color red or purple.

name and emblem

While the school will always be situated in the Paldea region’s largest city — Mesagoza — the name of the school your character attends, and its emblem will be totally different.

If you pick up Scarlet Version, then you’ll attend the Naranja Academy. In Violet Version, your school is called the Uva Academy. If you know your Spanish, then you know these translate to the ‘Orange Academy’ and ‘Grape Academy’, respectively.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a unique school without a unique color scheme and an emblem. The Naranja Academy has an orange emblem in a rich orange colour, while the Uva Academy’s is proudly purple and embellished with a bunch of grapes.

Uniform

One of the first things we saw in the initial Scarlet & Violet trailer was the different colored uniforms, and this matches which ever academy — and version — you go for.

In Pokémon Scarlet, your uniform has a blue hat, orange tie, and orange striped shorts. Your shoes are black (with a matching backpack), and your socks are white with an orange stripe. In Pokémon Violet, swap the orange for purple, the black for brown, and the blue hat for a white one, as well as black socks with a yellow stripe.

If you don’t like the base outfit, don’t worry! Customization is back, and you’ll be able to buy new clothes and change your outfit throughout the game.

Your character isn’t the only one with a colour-coded outfit, either. Clavell, the director of your academy, has a different colored suit depending on your version. Again, Scarlet’s is a burning orangey red colour, while Violet’s is a rich purple.

FFXIV’s Yoshi-P Drops New Details About Its Long-Awaited Island Sanctuary Update

Ace final fantasy XIV‘s Patch 6.2 draws near, producer Naoki Yoshida (aka Yoshi-P) has been doing the rounds on Japanese game sites to talk about it. Fans on the FFXIV subreddit have been madly translating these pieces in the hunt for new Island Sanctuary information, and they’ve come up with the goods. Here’s what we know from the tidbits dropped so far.

In an interview with Famitsu, Yoshi-P stated that each player will have their own instanced island. These locations will be a social affair with players being able to invite friends over to visit, although mission content found on each island is designed to be casual content that can be completed alone. The degree to which guests can interact with the island is unknown.

Players will be able to queue for the Duty Finder while they are on the Sanctuary. One thing was made very clear: Island Sanctuary is not a replacement for housing, and housing items will not be usable on the island. It will also have its own currency and will be separate from the rest of the game. All that said, there have been hints that a degree of interaction will be created at the end of the Island Sanctuary content once it is fully explored.

Minions will be allowed to roam freely on the island. We don’t currently know exactly how many will be allowed to roam at once, but we do know that mounts will not be part of it. Yoshi-P has not ruled out changing this in the future, but for now, it’s just the minions. It will be possible to earn mounts by exploring the island, but that’s all he had to say on the topic.

Also confirmed: Island Sanctuary will have no story, just a string of quests that lead to unlocking the island. Certain things, like growing crops, will be on a weekly timer. It’s possible that they may use the challenge log, or something similar, for this. The weather will change on the island but there will be no snow. Rather it seems it will be a more tropical climate. Players will be able to craft without having a Disciple of the Land or a Disciple of the Hand, FFXIV‘s gathering and crafting classes, available.

There’s an upcoming live letter happening on Saturday, so it’s possible that we’ll learn more then.

It’s time for Apple to fix texting, says Google

San Francisco: Google has launched a new campaign to put pressure on Apple to adopt RCS (rich communication services) and improve texting between Android and iOS users.

RCS is a next generation SMS protocol that upgrades text messaging across Android and iMessages.

“It’s time for Apple to fix texting. It’s not about the color of the bubbles. It’s the blurry videos, broken group chats, missing read receipts and typing indicators, no texting over Wi-Fi and more,” said the Google campaign.

“These problems exist because Apple refuses to adopt modern texting standards when people with iPhones and Android phones text each other,” it added.

The tech giant is asking Apple to fix these issues by supporting RCS.

“Messaging should bring people together — not pull them apart,” Google said.

“The Android team’s goal is to make texting a more secure, modern and enjoyable experience for everyone, regardless of the phone they’re using. Because it shouldn’t matter what phone they have � things should just work,” the company added.

According to Google, Apple turns texts between iPhones and Android phones into SMS and MMS which are out-of-date technologies.

“But Apple can adopt RCS — the modern industry standard — for these threads instead. Solving the problem without changing your iPhone to iPhone conversations and making messaging better for everyone,” said Google.

Apple was yet to react to the new Google RCS campaign.

Hyundai N Track Maps updated with more Australian circuits

Hyundai always says its N cars are made (and warrantied) for the track, and the updated N Track Maps software launching this week suggests it practices what it preaches.

In some ways it brings a Gran Turismo racing sim to life.

Track Maps uses the satellite navigation system to work out when you’re approaching a given track in your i20 N, i30 Sedan N, or Kona N, and subsequently displays the circuit layout.

There’s also data-logging including an onboard acceleration timer; g force meter; and power, torque and turbocharger boost gauges.

Track Maps debuted in the Kona N and is now available in the i20 N and i30 Sedan N. Unfortunately the i30 Hatch N uses different infotainment hardware and misses out.

The feature initially covered Sydney Motorsport Park, but now includes many of Australia’s pre-eminent tracks.

The latest Track Maps software is available at update.hyundai.com, so there’s no need to visit a dealer. This and subsequent software updates can be downloaded onto a USB and uploaded by the user into a compatible Hyundai N model’s navigation/multimedia system.

The process only takes a few minutes and the updates come without cost, Hyundai added.

“Every Hyundai N model has an innate sense of fun and driver involvement engineered into it,” claims Hyundai Motor Company Australia CEO Ted Lee.

“Now, that’s complemented by the Track Maps software that can recognize and automatically record lap times around a host of Australian racing circuits, to prompt the driver when the opportunity for driving fun arises,” he said.
