Jennifer Lopez lends support to Britney Spears amid feud with ex-husband

Jennifer Lopez has firmly planted herself on the side of team britney amid the popstar’s ‘feud’ with Kevin Federline.

On Friday, Spears posted a throwback photo of herself at the 2001 VMA’s alongside J-Lo, quoting the marry me star in the caption.

“As Jennifer Lopez once said,” she wrote, “‘You look right down that camera and tell every little girl in the world to get loud and never ever back down to giving light to injustice’!!! I’m here to share that freedom is a state of mind !!! GOD BLESS U ALL.”

Lopez commented with three heart emojis, then reposted the photo adding a sticker that reads “stay strong”.

The photo has since been deleted by Spears, but in the caption, she also reflected on “independence” and “equality.”

“In a world where you have the right to use your feet 🦶… heart ❤️ … mouth 👄 … eyes 👀 … and body… to express yourself however you may 😁 !!! Declaration of INDEPENDENCE … for equality and to be equal 🤝 !! Not even touching, covering, and holding me against my will for 4 months!!!”

The caption seems to be in reference to Spears’ ex-husband, Kevin Federline, posting old videos of her earlier this week. In the clips, it appears that the ‘Toxic’ singer is arguing with her and scolding her two sons, Sean and Jayden.

“I can not sit back and let my sons be accused in this way after what they’ve been through. As much as it hurts us, we decided as a family to post these videos,” Federline wrote Alongside the clips, saying their sons were 11 and 12 at the time the videos were taken.

His decision to share the videos online garnered a ton of backlash. A source for Spears told Page Six“This is terrible, Kevin is disgusting. He is weaponizing the kids by releasing the videos.

Taylor Swift could win an Oscar for film directing in 2023

Taylor Swift she already has 11 Grammys and an Emmy to her name, but she could potentially be adding an Oscar to her award collection next year.

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that the star’s recent project All Too Well: The Short Film has qualified to be eligible for a nomination in the Best Live Action Short category at next year’s Academy Awards.

The outlet reported that Swift is apparently in talks with a “top consulting firm to guide [the project’s] awards campaign,” to increase her chances of a nomination.

The ‘I’d Lie’ singer directed the short film to accompany the release of her ten-minute song ‘All Too Well’ last November on Red (Taylor’s Version). The film stars Dylan O’Brien and Sadie Sink.

The eligibility window for best live-action short is different from that for feature films — anything released from October 1, 2021, to September 30 2022 can be nominated.

Though this is Swift’s first short film, she has directed six of her own music videos in the past, including those for ‘cardigan’, ‘The Man’, and ‘ME!’.

If everything goes her way, Swift could even walk home with two Oscars at next year’s ceremony. In June, the singer wrote and recorded the track ‘Carolina’ to accompany the film Where The Crawdads Sing. As it’s the first song to appear in the movie’s credit sequence, it’s eligible to be nominated for Best Original Song.

Though Swift has never been nominated for an Academy Award, she has received three Golden Globe nominations in the past for original songs penned for motion pictures.

She also won a primetime Emmy in 2015 for Outstanding Creative Achievement in Interactive Media.

Less Marvel Would Be “More Special”?

Less Marvel Would Be More Special

With Marvel’s first three phases, the commitment was essentially two films a year. Sure there were series available for those who wanted them, but they had no bearing on the films and weren’t required for viewing.

With the current fourth and upcoming fifth and sixth phases though, that’s changed and is now clocking in at around 3-4 films per year and 4-6 series of around 6-9 episodes each. That’s a lot of product, enough it’s turning away some more casual viewers whilst reviews for the projects in the recent phase were rather muted with talk swirling of “quality dip”.

Appearing on Vulture’s Into It podcast, “Watchmen” and “The Leftovers” showrunner Damon Lindelof has offered an easy solution that sticks by the mantra less is more:

“It’s always going to be hard because once you’ve got someone’s attention, you want to keep it. So the idea of letting it go and not knowing if you’re ever going to get it back again is sort of like, it’s antithetical to the way that we’re wired.

From a slightly sort of more cynical standpoint, this is a business. It’s an industry. And if you make a couple of great Marvel movies, the instinct is, ‘We need to make more Marvel movies, and we need to expand this.’ And I have this sort of inner feeling of like,’Wow, I wish they made less because it would make each one that came out a little bit more special. But I watch all of them. … People don’t want things to end. Gone.”

Lindelof, however is well aware of the current state of the entertainment industry and its fixation of megafranchise, and how he himself has benefited from that:

“I don’t begrudge them the right to keep it going. I’ve made prequels and sequels and reboots, so I can’t be a hypocrite and say, ‘God, come up with an original idea.’ Meanwhile, I’m making two ‘Star Trek’ movies and ‘Prometheus.’”

One person who is standing up for the glut of new Marvel content is “She-Hulk: Attorney At Law” star Mark Ruffalo. Asked by Metro UK about the studio potentially releasing too much, Ruffalo says he doesn’t think so:

“It’s not something I worry about. I understand that these things run their course and then something else comes along. But the thing Marvel has done well is that, inside the MCU, just as they do with comic books, they let a director or an actor sort of recreate each piece to their own style, their likeness. Marvel generally lets them bring that to the material.

If you watch a ‘Star Wars,’ you’re pretty much going to get the same version of ‘Star Wars’ each time. It might have a little bit of humour. It might have a little bit of different animation. But you’re always, really, in that same kind of world. But with Marvel, you can have a whole different feeling, even within the Marvel Universe.”

While Marvel shows do offer a larger span of genres than the “Star Wars” franchise, it remains fairly surface level as complaints about the sameness of works in the MCU, from their visual looks to their pacing, remain.

“She-Hulk: Attorney At Law” is the next MCU work on the way, that series launching this coming Thursday, August 18th. The “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” film opens in November whilst two TV specials – a Halloween-themed one and a “Guardians of the Galaxy” Christmas-themed one – arrive before the year’s out.

Meghan Markle ‘deliberately’ proved Harry ‘unpopularity’ at UN: ‘Paves way for politics’

Meghan Markle deliberately tired to undermine Prince Harry as the lesser popular royal between the two, says expert.

The Duke of Sussex, who delivered a keynote speech in front on empty chairs in NYC, could have been saved if Meghan hired the right PR.

Richard Hillgrove says the move was a “very deliberate attempt” to demonstrate Harry’s flunking popularity.

Mr Hillgrove told Express.co.uk: “We all need to feel very sorry for Harry who has been hung out to dry.

“But this was always on the cards from day one, in fact well before day one.”

Harry’s closed ones “tried to warn him” of the risks of marrying the former Suits actress, Mr Hillgrove claimed.

He said: “Photographs of the eleven-charismatic idol performing to empty chairs spells the end of the publicity dream.”

He added: “This is a very deliberate attempt to display to the world the number one crime for any high profile personality, that ‘Harry is just not popular anymore’.

“Jettisoning Harry paves the way for Meghan’s US Presidential ambitions, which Harry can’t play any part in any way.”

“What we are watching is the gradual steps towards disposal.”

Fred Negro’s Pub comic strip about St Kilda is the subject of a rock documentary

Negro says the police vice squad pressured venues to ban the band for a year. So, the band played on at the Prince of Wales Hotel under different names.

loading

“We weren’t really trouble. It was just a party band,” he said.

“All the punk bands were so serious. They were very political. So, I thought we’d have a muck around. We started writing songs about going to buy a pizza at Toppo’s (Topolino’s restaurant).”

Negro drew cartoon playbills for St Kilda venues, then for over 20 years, from 1989, he drew a weekly satirical cartoon strip, called Pubin the street newspaper press.

The cartoons depicted genitalia, drug use, bodily excretions, orgies and profanity. Negro says he was also documenting his community about him, from books he was reading to meeting funny taxi drivers.

St Kilda was his museum. Many characters were real people such as musicians Tim Rogers and Tex Perkins. Negro drew the birth of his own son, Rowdy.

The late guitarist for band The Birthday Party, Rowland S. Howard said:“You haven’t made it in the Melbourne music industry until you have appeared in Fred Negro’s Pub Strip.”

Increasing complaints about the cartoon led to a parting of ways between Negro and Inpress, after over 1400 strips, but the strip is still going in the Munster Times zine.

Negro, now 63, has shown his art in exhibitions, and created several Pub books and a graphic novel Piranhas in Love that he co-wrote with Elizabeth Reale.

Negro still plays in bands including the F— F–s and The Peptides, and hosts walking tours of St Kilda.

Pub: The Movie director Andrew Leavold, 52, first saw Negro on stage in 1992 when one of Negro’s bands, Brady Bunch Lawnmower Massacre, played in Brisbane.

Leavold considered Negro a genius, booked him for Queensland gigs and became his friend.

Asked what drives Negro, Leavold says there is a hedonistic aspect “but I think it’s more about liberation”.

loading

“Fred doesn’t like anyone telling him what he can say in his art, or how he can do his art and he certainly doesn’t like anyone telling him what he can and cannot do on stage.”

Negro plays the clown but Leavold hopes the film helps people take him seriously as an artist.

“I think that art can be hilarious and entertaining and irreverent and salty and earthy, and all those epithets that you can apply to Fred’s work,” says Leavold.

“I would really like people to see the totality of Fred’s experience and say, ‘yes, he’s done an amazing body of work over the last 45 years’.”

Apart from one unhappy three-year stint living with an ex-wife in Brighton, Negro has remained in St Kilda, and doesn’t intend to leave. “What for? I’m happy where I am,” he said. “It’s a great place.

“I just wander around in a daze, making up songs, thinking of cartoons to do.

“I know about a million people. I have a laugh everywhere I go. Because everyone’s so f–ing funny.”

Pub: The Movie is screening on Thursday at Kino1 Cinema and on Saturday at The Astor Theatre.

Emily Ratajkowski cut a casual figure as she took her son Sylvester, 17 months, for a stroll in New York City over the weekend.

Wearing a light pallet of makeup, Emily styled her brunette locks into plaits for the outing.

The actress completed her look with a pair of gold hoop earrings and a black bag.

The outing comes after Emily split from her husband Sebastian Bear-McClard last month after four years together.

It was reported that Emily made the decision to leave her film producer husband following the claims of his infidelity, but is believed to be coping well.

A source close to the star confirmed the news to PEOPLE, and said Emily is focusing on parenting the couple’s son Sylvester, 16 months.

They said: ‘They split recently. It was Em’s decision. She is doing okay. She is strong and focused on her son. Ella she loves being a mom.’

The unnamed source also said Ratajkowski plans to file for divorce, but paperwork has not yet been filed.

The pair’s split comes after a source told Page Six that Sebastian has been a ‘serial cheater’, saying: ‘Yeah, he cheated. He’s a serial cheater. It’s gross. He’s a dog.’

Rumors of a rift first began when the fashionista started appearing without her wedding ring, and did not post any public Father’s Day wishes to her husband of four years last month.

The Inamorata founder and Sebastian first started dating on Valentine’s Day in 2018, and just a few weeks later, they were married during a civil ceremony in New York City on February 23, 2018, with just a few friends as witnesses.

Two and half years later the couple announced they were expecting a baby. They welcomed their son into the world on March 8, 2021.

The Masked Singer 2022: Jamie Durie revealed as the Tiger

WARNING: Masked Singer spoilers below.

A fourth celebrity was revealed on Sunday’s episode of The Masked Singerwith the Tiger revealed to be…

form Backyard Blitz host and very successful Aussie export, Jamie Durie.

After his unmasking, Durie reflected on his massive career – from Manpower dancer, to TV presenter, to friend and colleague of Oprah after his move to the US: “Not bad for being a glorified bloody gardener.”

The Tiger sang the Phil Collins classic In The Air Tonight. Much like last week, all the clues had pointed to Durie – the Tiger was shown dancing the Charleston (Durie’s been a two-time contestant on Dancing with the Stars). He said he spends a “lot of time in the back” (Durie was the host of Backyard Blitz). There was also a reference to being “very Manly” – and as judge Chrissie Swan, who’d picked Durie since the start, pointed out, Durie was born in Manly.

Elsewhere, Sunday’s show opened with the Rooster performing a confident rendition of the Mamas and the Papas classic California Dreamin’ that sounded very different from his debut performance last week. It’s still hard to get a handle on this performer’s real voice, but it’s clear he’s a skilled singer.

Then the Snapdragon – who I know, in my heart, to be Eurovision and The Voice singer Sheldon Riley – performed a ballad version of the Whitney Houston smash How Will I Know. The Snapdragon’s clues package made reference to being “universal” (That’s Sheldon’s record label) and being “not the same” as other snapdragons. Sheldon’s 2022 Eurovision song was called Not The Same – come on, Ten, you’re making it too easy!

Then it was on to the Popcorn, who sang the Harry Styles hit adore you. From the moment he opened his mouth last week, I pinned the Popcorn as Black&Gold singer Sam Sparro – and the new clue package certainly pointed to that. There were references to Lindsay Lohan (Sam’s penned songs with her) and George Michael (Sam was on the line-up for an Aussie tribute concert to the late star).

Last Sunday’s Masked Singer premiere got the season off to a cracking start, with one of the show’s best-kept secrets revealed when actor Ryan Moloney – aka Toadfish from neighbors – was unmasked after a surprisingly decent rendition of an Ed Sheeran hit.

There was another surprise the following night, when the Caterpillar was revealed to be Australian swimming legend Lisa Curry.

And on Tuesday came the reveal of another celeb it felt like nobody had guessed correctly, when the Thong was unmasked as Looking for Alibrandi actress Australian Survivor winner) Pia Miranda.

Meanwhile, we’ve had our annual guess at who exactly is beneath each of the remaining masks this season – and we’re confident we’ve correctly picked at least five of the contestants’ true identities.

The Masked Singer continues 7:30pm Monday on Ten.

He informs them that the extra security Ridge has hired is no longer necessary — the evidence was conclusive — Sheila is dead.

More: Matthew Atkinson chills out in new photo

At Il Giardino, Hope tells Liam she brought him there to discuss the Douglas issue where the boy couldn’t hear them. They speculate as to what brought it on and whether Thomas has been thinking of this for a while now. Liam thinks the boy is thriving and doesn’t know why anyone would mess with that. Hope tears up thinking about Douglas moving out and not being a part of her daily life. It would upset Beth so much… it would upset all of them!
Hope tear B&B

By the bar, Deacon tells Paul the inventory is done and asks to take an early lunch, as he spots Hope and Liam. At their table, Liam tries to calm Hope, who worries that Thomas will get the courts involved. Deacon appears and asks what’s wrong.

At Forrester Creations, Sanchez tells the group gathered in the office that as far as the department’s concerned, it’s a closed case — Sheila’s never going to bother anyone again. Li checks in with Finn, who assures her he’s doing okay, and the group thanks the detective as he leaves. Thomas walks in and asks if Sheila’s been found. Taylor and Steffy that Sanchez had photos… and a toe. “Sheila’s dead.” Thomas is skeptical. “Sheila has pulled this before.” Steffy tells him the police had DNA evidence to back it up. Taylor insists she’s gone and out of their lives forever. Thomas needs time for this to sink in. Brooke declares they can go on with their lives. Eric feels responsible for bringing her into their lives and their family. Brooke and Taylor assure him he couldn’t have known all those years ago. “She’s finally gone,” Brooke reiterates.
Thomas skeptical B&B

At Bill’s place, he’s glad to see Li has stopped by — she’s looking so much better! Li just wanted to thank him for everything he did for her and her son de ella. “We owe you.” Bill tells her she owes him nothing; he just happened to be at the right place at the right time. Li recaps how he found her in the alley, brought her here and took care of her. Bill teases that she’ll need to keep his kindness under wraps; he has a reputation to consider. Talk turns to Sheila, and Li explains that’s the other reason she came — to tell him about Sheila. “She’s dead.”

At Il Giardino, Deacon’s learned offscreen that Thomas wants Douglas to live with him and deems it “totally nuts.” Douglas is part of their family now! Hope points out that Thomas can revisit the custody arrangement as Douglas’ father. Deacon smokes that Liam needs to put a stop to this. The little guy is happiest with them. Hope calms her father of her. She loves that he cares so much, but Douglas means a lot to Thomas too. Deacon argues if he loves his son, he’ll leave him right where he is.

More: Tanner Novlan’s new commercial

Deacon offers to “talk” to Thomas and Liam blurts, “Oh, no, no, no, no.” Hope assures her dad they’ll handle this on their own, besides, they don’t know if Thomas will even do anything. Brooke appears and Deacon wonders if she’s okay. She explains she’s relieved, actually, but still a bit in shock. Brooke says they don’t have to worry about Sheila anymore. Hope wonders if they arrested her. Brooke says they did n’t have to — she’d already met her grisly death de ella when they found her.
Liam Deacon Hope B&B

At Forrester, Ridge has the photo of Sheila’s toe on his phone to remind him she can’t hurt them anymore, which makes Taylor and Steffy cringe. Thomas likes the idea. Steffy explains Finn’s gone to the hospital to get checked out and they speculate about how he’s feeling about his biological mother’s death from her. Steffy has to think, what with everything that’s happened, that he sees it as a blessing.

More: B&B Preview: Brooke and Ridge’s next challenge

At Bill’s place, he gawps, “Sheila Carter’s middle toe?” Li explains it was how they confirmed it was her de ella. Bill finds it fitting that she met her end of her being mauled by an animal; she was an animal herself. Li wanted to tell him, but also to thank him for his kindness. She’s heard he can be ruthless, but what he did for her speaks volumes about the kind of man he truly is.
Bill Li B&B

At Il Giardino, Hope, Liam and Deacon have heard the story about the bear mauling and the middle toe. Deacon ponders this as Brooke declares that Sheila Carter is dead, and her reign of terror is over at long last. Deacon, affected by the news, swallows hard and seems red-eyed.
Deacon sad B&B

More: Trouble for Deacon ahead? B&B casting suggests so

At Forrester, Steffy, Taylor, Thomas and Ridge recap how Sheila nearly destroyed Steffy and Finn’s lives. It’s a new beginning for all of them. Steffy adds, “For you too, dad. Mom told me what happened in Monaco.” Thomas asks what happened. Steffy replies, “Mom and dad kissed.” Taylor feels awkward but Steffy launches into a speech on how she’s learned life is short. She tells Ridge that he and Taylor love each other. He shouldn’t waste the time he has and should go back to mom. “We all know how much you love her. Come back to the Foresters.”
