Fandango has announced that “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” will return to cinemas for one night only later this August ahead of the Disney+ series “Star Wars: Andor” arriving on screens.
This screening will take place on Friday, August 26th, in theaters across the country. It arrives during a dead zone for new releases in cinemas and just four weeks out from the premiere of “Andor” on September 21st.
“Rogue One” received very positive reviews and earned $1 billion at the worldwide box office, proving that a spin-off of this franchise could be a hit – at least until the second spin-off “Solo”, crashed and burned severely enough to scrap the whole endeavor.
The twelve-episode “Andor” series, meanwhile, is set five years before “Rogue One” and will include several returnees from the film, including Diego Luna as the eponymous Cassian Andor, Forest Whitaker as Saw Gerrera and Genevieve O’Reilly as Senator Mon Mothma.
Tony Gilroy is the creator of “Andor”, which has already been renewed for a second and final season of another twelve episodes.
